Cascading cisco 3510 mcu to an accord mcu

Has anyone done this?...We are having difficulty doing this. We get audio but no video. I cannot find a document on cisco's web site on how to do this....Can anyone help?

Media Termination Points extend supplementary services, such as call hold, call transfer, call park, and conferencing, that are otherwise not available when a call is routed to an H.323 endpoint. Some H.323 gateways may require that calls use an MTP to enable supplementary call services, but normally, Cisco IOS gateways do not.
The Cisco IP Voice Media Streaming Application MTP accepts two full-duplex G.711 Coder-Decoder (CODEC) stream connections. MTPs bridge the media streams between two connections. The streaming data that is received from the input stream on one connection passes to the output stream on the other connection and vice versa. In addition, the MTP trancodes a-law to mu-law (and vice versa) and adjusts packet sizes as required by the two connections.

  • Cisco 3545 MCU/EMP

    Hello all,
I'm deploying a videoconference solution with a Cisco 3545 with one MCU and one EMP. I've done the basic configurations. The MCU has the ip 10.10.0.170 and the EMP with the 10.10.0.171, mask 255.255.255.240. The problem is that the EMP card never appears in the Media Processing tab in the MCU of the MCU admin page, and on the EMP console keeps popping up the message "NO MCU detected at this IP address: 10.10.0.170".
    Do you have any idea?
    Best regards.

I was just troubleshooting a video issue recently, and although our problems were different, I learned a few troubleshooting tools.
    1. Go on your MCU and see if you can schedule Video meetings directly on the MCU, just to see if that piece works.
    2. If that is working, go on your Video Admin web interface and go under Admin/Resource Management...click the MCU tab and then click on the link to the MCU. There is an Update button down there. Click the Update button, then try again.
What I have discovered is if that at any point your restart your MCU and don't click that Update button after, the Video Admin will get out of sync with the MCU and not be able to schedule Video.
So that is something to try to start with.

  • Any veterans out there? Need help with IPVC-3510-MCU

    Hi,
We've been trying to get this running in hopes of convincing management that we would benefit from a video solution. I recall this product was quite a performer for basic Multi-conferencing so we purchased it off-market.
Now the problem is finding software! We have the config tool but are struggling to actually setup a conference. The web page seems only to access existing conferences, leaving us in a Catch-22.
Is there a URL we are missing? Or is it yet another software piece??
    Any help much, much appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Erik

The 3510 does not have an interface where you can create conferences from. To create the conference, you need to call in from a video terminal. Once the call is created, then you can use a web browser pointed to the IP address of the 3510 to control the conference and invite more participants.

  • Conference MCU 3511

    Hi,
How I can create a video conference in the MCU 3511?. The MCU 3511 has been agregated than conference bridge, and his status is registered in the call manager, in the Media Resource Group has been agregated the conference bridge 3511. In the Media Resource Group List contains tha MCU. And also I had created the MeetMe number. How I star video conferencing in my thelepne IP with Video Capabilities Enable?. Which is the number the users call for initiate a video conference?

To initiate a multipoint call using an IP/VC 3540 or 3510 MCU, the endpoint dials the appropriateservice prefix followed by a conference ID. (The conference ID can be up to 9 digits long.) If a service on an MCU is 40880 for a 384-kbps call, the user might dial 4088011223, the call would be routed to the MCU using the 40880 service prefix, and the MCU would initiate an ad hoc conference with an ID of 4088011223. Users can also initiate a call and invite the other participants by dialing the conference
ID, the invite string **, and the E.164 address of the another participant.

  • MCU 5320 Hardware Bug

We have a Cisco 5320 MCU.  Recently after upgrading to version 4.5, we had an issue with the MCU performing an unexpected restart.  This problem began to reoccur.  After opening a TAC case, it was noted that this was related to a hardware bug CSCuc98311.  We received an RMA, and after about 2 weeks the problem started happening again.  Another TAC case was opened, it was referenced as the same issue.  This MCU was behaving the same.  Unexpected restarts.  We downgraded to 4.3, the original software we were on, and the problem still occurred. Below is the error fault reference in the log.  We will be receiving our 3rd MCU today.  I am very skeptical about this issue, and the stability of the MCU.  This has caused major interruptinos with multi-point video meetings.  Has anyone else experienced this problem or seen this before?

If you upgrade your MCU 5320 with the TelePresence Server migration software, this will turn the MCU into a TelePresence Server so all features and functionality will be that of a TelePresence Server and not an MCU.  See the Running TS Software on MCU 5300 Series install guide on how to convert your MCU to a TelePresence Server if you're interested.
Here are two good discussions comparing the MCU and TelePresence Server platforms, one of them specifically about migrating from one to the other.
    what-difference-between-mcu-cisco-telepresence-server
    why-replace-mse-8510-mcu-44-telepresence-server-31
The cisco_ts_3.1_1.98_for_mcu_5300 software is for migrating an MCU 5300 Series to a TelePresence Server.  While the cisco_ts8700_3.1_1.98 software is specifically for hardware that is already running TP Server software, such as the various TelePresence Servers models listed here, this includes MCUs that were migrated to run TP Server software such as the MCU 5300 Series and MCU MSE 8510.

  • Cisco support for third-party apps on SRE?

Hi - I am thinking about running some third-party unified communications apps under VMWare ESXi5 on a Cisco SRE 900 module.   According to the Cisco docs, third-party apps are supported on these modules (see table below) but the app in question is NOT on Cisco's list below.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/modules/ps10598/data_sheet_c78-553913.html
    Some questions:
    1.  As long as the third-party app is capable of running under VMWare/VSphere ESXi5, is there anything on the SRE that would prevent you from running this third-party app even though it's not on Cisco's list?
    2.  What is Cisco's policy on the use of third-party apps that are not on their list?    For example, will they take a support call on the SRE running a non-listed app (I am not expecting them to help me with the app but I don't want to void any sort of support contract through the use of a third-party app not on their list).
    Thanks !

As long as 3rd party app is capable of running on ESXi 5 it would run on SRE hardware. Cisco doesn't prevent these apps from running even if they are competitive. From a support perspective Cisco TAC will not take any support calls for these applications nor would know how to redirect the call to these 3rd party partners. Cisco TAC will only support SRE and ESXi related issues.

  • MeetingPlace Video Integration with 3515MCU problem

    Hi,
I am trying to setup MeetingPlace Video Integration with a Cisco 3515 MCU and cannot get it to work. The eventlog for MeetingPlace Gateway is giving me errors about the initialization problems. A couple of such errors are:
MPAgent (0x0150) Warning: Conference technology provider initialization failed (0x80040201). err=1
MPVidSvc MPVideo 11:05:52-> CMcuController::processCmdRegAuthorize() Register as administrator failed. UNregistering....
MPVidSvc MPVideo 11:06:02-> CMcuController::uninitialize() Uninitializing CMcuController.......
Both MeetingPlace and MCU conferencing are working as they should, but I can't get the Video Integration working. From what I can tell by these messages, MeetingPlace cannot talk to the MCU to administer conferences. I have setup and configured a user on the MCU for MeetingPlace to use.
Has anyone got MeetingPlace working with a 3515 MCU?
    Thanks,
    Richard.

    Richard,
I'm having the same problem but with MCU 3540. This problem begin occur after I change the service number 70. My scenario is 2 sites. Each site have 1 cluster?s CCM, 1 MCU?s 3540 and the main site I have 1 MP system with 1 MP IP gateway and web conference in the same server. What the version of MP and MCU you are using ? I'm using MP V 5.3.333.0 and MCU V 4.2.10.

I have some questions that is not clear for me regarding above BOM:
1- In regard to Personal Multiparty Licenses that comes with CUWL PRO , It mentioned QTY 2 from each item ,does that mean 2 servers and 2 licenses will be installed for each TS or it is only one server and upload 2 licenses to it?
2-"Cisco TelePresence Server Resource License" has QTY 8. is that mean 8 ports = 8 participant in one conference or what is that mean and what does it used for?
3-In regard to conductor ordered with PMP, can it manage TS server(s) in concert with the MCUs that is ordered above or a new one should be purchased dedicated for the MCUs?
4-For Conductor cluster ,Customer is asking for a cluster although the BOM has only 1 QTY. Does the cluster requires another SW license key to the second VM or just add it as Unified CM nodes for free ?.Noting that "LIC-CNDTR-CL" is mentioned in the BOM.
5- In regards MCU 5320, "LIC-5300-4PL" mentioned as 4 QTY, is that mean it will be divided by 2 for each appliance after stacking them?
6-does "LIC-5300-4PL" with 4 QTY means that I can have up to 16 participant in one conference or 2 concurrent conferences with 8 Participant ? or how it is calculated?
I really appreciate your help to clear above points to get back to the customer with full understanding about the solution provided.
    Thanks in advance.

Usually the questions like this would be directed to the one who put together the bill or materials for you.
I've always had some issues reading BOMs, but if I'm reading and understanding it correct:
You'll receive qty 2 TelePresence Servers, which is probably the 8-core virtual TP Server.
The TelePresence Server Resource License is the screen licenses you install on the TelePresence Servers.  The 8-core virtual TP Server only requires 4 screen licenses each.  If I'm not mistaken, PMP must be setup with a max resolution of 720p.  So that would allow 2 participants per screen license.
Looks like you're receiving a fully licenses Conductor, which can support all the MCUs and TP Servers.  For the TP Servers that are to be used with PMP, they must only be used for that, and nothing else.
You'd have to purchase a second Conductor matching the one being purchased.
If you stack them (also known as clustering), the total port count will be shared between the two servers.  Note, when stacked, the two servers are then seen as 1 single MCU.
This depends on the quality you set the MCU to use for the media ports.  With qty 4 media ports, you can have the following number of participants:  up to 4 Full HD at 1080p, 8 HD at 720p, or 16 SD up to w448p.
PMP data sheet, shows what you can do with the TP Servers being used and the conference restrictions.
TelePresence Server data sheet, table 8 shows the screen license to participant ratio based on the expected video resolution.
MCU 5300 Series data sheet, table 2 shows the media port licenses to participant ratio based on expected video resolution.

  • HOW TO DISABLE IVR ON 3525-GW

How do I disable the IVR on the 3525 IPVC Gateway? I currently only have one internal endpoint with e.164 of 1000. I would currently like all calls to automatically go the that endpoint. It is an iPower 970 room system H323.
    Here is the route:
    ISDN Net-----3525-GW-----3510 MCU-----| 2610 MCM/GK |------Endpoint 1000
Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

IVR on the 3525 is an optionable item in the software utility provided with the box. Simply uncheck the IVR box in the utility. As an alternative, you can use DID or default route to your specific endpoint - both are similarly optionable in the utility.

  • TMS reserves current CTC's (Conductor's) resources for future conferences

    Hi All,
Can anybody confirm the way CTC works with TMS concerning resource reservation and control? Also there are some questions long to be answered...
From my experience, after creating a conference TMS is communicating it to CTC.  CTC checks for resources (log messages: "device.query"; "participant.enumerate") and reserves them (for a period of whole time: since creation time till the conference ends). That reservation period comes from problems we have with scheduling next conferences (not from any system logs or statistics).
Is it possible to check the reserved resources on CTC? How to allow CTC to oversubscribe? How to make TMS-CTC reserve resources ONLY for the period of the scheduled conference time and not for the period from creation time till the end of the conference?
I read in documentation, that if MCU is dedicated only for scheduled conferences, then resources are reserved ONLY for a scheduled conference time (not from the time it was created). Can anybody confirm?
How to split MCUs for a group of 3 MCUs for scheduled conferences and one for Ad-hoc?
Thanks inn advance for answers and hints!

Something came to me this morning, and I just tested it, the reason you're seeing 65 for the max participants is because of a miss configuration of your conference template.  You need to change the number of cascades to 3.
With it set to use 2 cascades, you can only cascade up to 3 conference bridges, across those conference bridges you'd have 72 total video ports (30+30+12).  Subtract 4 video ports for the cascade links created between conference bridges, as a single cascade will take 1 video port from each MCU.  Subtract 3 video ports for the cost of using content, 1 from each MCU, reference the API guide I linked to earlier for more details.  In the end, you're left with the 65 max participants that Conductor is reporting to TMS that can be scheduled using that conference alias.
After you change the number of cascades to 3, Conductor should report to TMS that the max participants should be 92.  If you need help understanding the math, let me know, just remember: total video ports in conference bridge pool - video ports used for each cascade - cost of MCU content = max participants.

  • SX20 Floor Control

Can someone please tell me where I can find the Floor Control options on a SX20 Codec?
We use this quite regularly on our MXP95s but can't find it on the SX20 and are needing the end user to be able to set which remote endpoint (in a multi-site call) is shown in the prominent position.

    Hi folks,
When connecting to a Cisco Telepresence MCU, SX20 is able to "take floor" by using DTMF sequence. You can send DTMF information to MCU and request floor, then SX20 will be shown in the proeminent position for all other participants.
This same concept is applied to another endpoits as well, not only to SX20. For example, this is a print screen from Jabber client requesting floor via DTMF, take a look:
That menu is shown when you press when you send * to MCU, so you can send number keys via DTMF to navigate int he menus. In this menu you can request floor, mute audio, change layout, see participants, increase border and so on.
To enable this menu in the MCU, you need to configure the conference and set the parameter "Floor and chair control" to Allow floor.
    I hope this help.
