Cascading windows question with example inside

is there a way to force windows to not cascade past the bottom of the screen, like in CS3? i have to have my images in cascade form since i work on multiples of the same image spread out all over the place, but when i cascade 50 windows, the last dozen or so keep going until only the top few inches are showing and just go off to the right. any way to fix this? its like PS is not detecting the edge of my monitor somehow. any and all help is appreciated.

    I upgraded Windows 7 to Windows 8 with iTunes installed. Now my iPhone 4S is no longer recognized in iTunes. Connecting the iPhone with USB sends me directly to the MS app that downloads pictures from the iPhone. Suggest this is a question of missing Apple driver for Windows 8, iTunes and iPhone. MS does not care! This seems to be a general problem with Windows 8 that a number of drivers that used to work with Windows 7 now do not work, ie. iPhone to iTunes, HTC to HTCSync, Samsung to Kies etc. I need this connection to work in order to syncronize with Outlook and my iTunes library.

    Maybe it would have been a better idea to confirm that iTunes is supported in Windows 8 before buying a computer with that Operating System.
    There will be a new version of iTunes released this month... no one forced you to upgrade prior to a supported version of iTunes being released.

  • Installing Windows 7 with Bootcamp question

    Hey guys, I recently switched over from a PC to a Mac this year and wanted to install Windows 7 with Bootcamp so I could do some gaming every once and a while. I've read that I can't use the restore discs that I got with my ASUS to install Vista, so that's out of the question. I also have a Windows 7 upgrade disc that I used a while back to install Windows 7 on the ASUS. Will that upgrade disc work if the ASUS is restored? If not, will an OEM copy of Windows 7 be all I need? A retail copy of Windows 7 Home Edition is kind of steep to only be used part of the time.
    Thanks in advance!

    Well, "WHICH" Mac do you have?
    Go to the Apple menu (upper left corner)/About This Mac/More Info and at the top (under Hardware content) it should say "Model name" and "Identifier". Then put it in your profile so you don't have to keep remembering to do it.:)
    You might call/e-mail ASUS and ask if it can be used on another computer. Don't tell them it will be used on a Mac. Just tell them your thinking on building one from scratch.
    If you have a "desktop" ASUS then you MIGHT be able to just switch over the HD after Upgrading it to 7, but I believe the ASUS, Dell, etc, setups are "matched" to the COMPUTER so it might not work. A retail full version of Window 7 will work. You might also try Microsoft and tell them the same thing, might be able to get another "Upgrade"?
    I'm in the same boat, just play a few games on XP but want to get Windows 7, you have to spend $100 dollars more for "Pro" to get the "Windows XP Mode"! E-Bay does have it quite a bit cheaper then Microsoft sells it for.

  • Partitioning questions with windows

    i want install windows on my mbp so i can run solidworks and other programs that aren't compatible with mac os. i would also install microsoft office for windows. my question is if i'm booted in mac os could i access the files saved in windows partition (like solidworks files, office files, etc)? not that i need to open them or anything but if i wanted to put them on a USB or move them somewhere, could i do that?

    You can also run Windows concurrently with OS X as an alternative to Boot Camp's dual boot setup.
    Virtualization for OS X:
         1. Parallels Desktop for Mac and Windows XP, Vista Business,
             Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  Parallels is software
             virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently
             with OS X.
         2. VM Fusion and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate,
             or Windows 7.  VM Fusion is software virtualization that
             enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
         3. VirtualBox is an Open Source freeware virtual machine such
             as VM Fusion and Parallels that was developed by Solaris.
             It is not as fully developed for the Mac as Parallels and VM
             Fusion.
    Note that VirtualBox, Parallels, and VM Fusion can also run other operating systems such as Linux, Unix, OS/2, Solaris, etc.  There are performance differences between dual-boot systems and virtualization.  The latter tend to be a little slower (not much) and do not provide the video performance of the dual-boot system. See MacTech Labs- Virtualization Benchmarks, January 2013 | MacTech for comparisons of Boot Camp, Parallels, and VM Fusion. Benchmarks of all of the above can be found in Benchmarking Parallels, Fusion, and VirtualBox Against Boot Camp - The Mac Observer.

    I've installed windows 7 with the help of bootcamp on my macbook pro 2011.
    Please help me how to install mac drivers for windows7 64 bit???

    You either download drivers from within Boot Camp Assistant and save to USB FAT disk, or you insert and use 10.6.x OS X DVD when in Windows and install and run the SETUP from there.

    Step 4: Install the Boot Camp Drivers for Windows
    After installing Windows, install Mac-specific drivers and other software for Windows using your Mac OS X installation disc.  The Mac OS X disc installs drivers to support Mac components, including AirPort,built-in iSight camera, the Apple Remote, the trackpad on a portable Mac, and thefunction keys on an Apple keyboard.
    The Mac OS X disc also installs the Boot Camp control panel for Windows and theApple Boot Camp system tray item.
    To install the Boot Camp drivers:
    1 Eject the Windows installation disc.
    2 Insert the Mac OS X disc.  If the installer doesn’t start automatically, browse the disc using Windows Explorerand double-click the setup.exe file in the Boot Camp directory.
    3 Follow the onscreen instructions.
    If a message appears that says the software you’re installing has not passed Windows  Logo testing, click Continue Anyway.
    Windows that appear only briefly during the installation don’t require your input.
    If nothing appears to be happening, there may be a hidden window that you mustrespond to. Check the taskbar and look behind open windows.
    Important: Do not click the Cancel button in any of the installer dialogs.
    4 After your computer restarts, follow the instructions in the Found New Hardware  Wizard to update your software drivers (Windows XP only).
    5 Follow the instructions for any other wizards that appear.
    6 Check for updated Boot Camp drivers by using Apple Software Update or going to www.apple.com/support/bootcamp.
      If You Have Problems Installing the Device Drivers
    If it appears that the Boot Camp drivers weren’t successfully installed, try repairing them.
    To repair Boot Camp drivers:
    1 Start up your computer in Windows.
    2 Insert your Mac OS X installation disc.
    3 If the installer doesn’t start automatically, browse the disc using Windows Explorerand double-click the setup.exe file in the Boot Camp directory.
    4 Click Repair and follow the onscreen instructions.
    If a message appears that says the software you’re installing has not passed Windows  Logo testing, click Continue Anyway.
    If you need to reinstall specific drivers, you can install one driver at a time. For example,if your built-in iSight camera isn’t working, you can reinstall just the iSight driver.
    Individual drivers are in the Drivers folder on the Mac OS X installation disc.

  • License key question with regards to upgrading from 7/8.1 to 10

    Hi, I hope I've posted my question in the right area of the forum:
    I understand that Windows 10 will be a free upgrade for Win7/Win8 users.
    That's really wonderful but I was wondering what the exact mechanism with regards to our 7/8 license keys. Here's a couple examples to clarify my question:
    first, example: I have Windows 7 Pro license and say I upgrade to 10 within the first year. Let's say I need to reinstall Windows after that first year is finished will I still be able to use that same license key I used to upgrade 7 to 10 to install a fresh
    copy of Windows 10 or will I need to purchase a new license because the year is elapsed?
    Here's another scenario. I upgrade to Windows 10 from 7 and after trying Windows 10 for while, I decide to uninstall 10 and go back to 7... because I'm crazy like that.... Will I be able to use my original Key for Windows 7 or is the upgrade a one way road:
    where the 7 key turns into a Windows 10 key and can no longer be used to activate Windows 7?
    Thanks for the feedback!

    Hi Momashi
    Here's another scenario. I upgrade to Windows 10 from 7 and after trying Windows 10 for while, I decide to uninstall 10 and go back to 7...
    because I'm crazy like that.... Will I be able to use my original Key for Windows 7 or is the upgrade a one way road: where the 7 key turns into a Windows 10 key and can no longer be used to activate Windows 7?
    If you Upgrade to Windows 10 and do not like it, for whatever reason.
    Before you upgrade to Windows 10.
    Create an image of windows 7 to an external HD and a recovery CD, using windows 7 Backup and Restore.
    You can re-install windows 7 in the SAME SYSTEM using the recovery CD without using  a key.
    Hope it helps
    Where did you get your outlandish information about a Windows 7 key turning into a Windows 10 key?  Nothing in the past has ever happened like this before, so what makes you think it will happen with Windows 10?
    My Windows ME did not turn into a Windows XP key!
    My Windows XP key did not turn into a Windows Vista key!
    My Windows Vista key did not turn into a Windows 7 key!
    And so on!

  • Unable to Load CSV file with comma inside the column(Sql Server 2008)

    Hi,
    I am not able load an CSV file with Comma inside a column.
    Here is sample File:(First row contain the column names)

    I need to do this in sql server 2008 R2 with Service pack 2, my build version is 10.50.1600.1.
    Can someone let me know it is possible in do the same way it is handle in SQL Server 2012?
    Or
    It got resolved in any successive Cumulative update after 10.50.1600.1?
    Regards Harsh

    Hello,
    If you have CSV with double quotes inside double quotes and with SSIS 2008, I suggest:
    in your data flow you use a script transformation component as Source, then define the ouput columns id signed int, Gp unicode string and C unicode string. e.g. Ouput 0 output colmuns
    Id - four-byte signed
    gp - unicode string
    cc - unicode string
    Do not use a flat file connection, but use a user variable in which you store the name of the flat file (this could be inside a for each file loop).
    The user variable is supplied as a a readonly variable argument to the script component in your dataflow.
    In the script component inMain.CreateNewOutputRows use a System.IO.Streamreader with the user variable name to read the file and use the outputbuffer addrow method to add each line to the output of the script component.
    Between the ReadLine instraction and the addrow instruction you have to add your code to extract the 3 column values.
    public override void CreateNewOutputRows()
    Add rows by calling the AddRow method on the member variable named "<Output Name>Buffer".
    For example, call MyOutputBuffer.AddRow() if your output was named "MyOutput".
    string line;
    System.IO.StreamReader file = new System.IO.StreamReader( Variables.CsvFilename);
    while ((line = file.ReadLine()) != null)
    System.Windows.Forms.MessageBox.Show(line);
    if (line.StartsWith("_id,qp,c") != true) //skip header line
    Output0Buffer.AddRow();
    string[] mydata = Yourlineconversionher(line);
    Output0Buffer.Id = Convert.ToInt32(mydata[0]);
    Output0Buffer.gp = mydata[1];
    Output0Buffer.cc = mydata[2];
    file.Close();

  • Windows 8 with Parrels

    I am looking at purchasing my first Mac (MacBook Pro with Retina). I have a couple of questions:  Will having Windows 8 with Parrels installed with purchase take up alot of hard drive space and will it slow down the computer?  Thank you in advance for any suggestions for this first time Mac user.

    Thank you for the points.
    Here's a tip. If you haven't yet used Windows 8 on a PC, you may well find it a pain if you don't have a touch screen, which you won't with the rMBP. Microsoft appears to be in the process of fixing that as they work on Windows 8.1 but that's not here yet, and in the meantime you don't automatically go to the familiar desktop and when you finally get there, there's no Start Button as there has been since MS Windows was a baby.
    But there's a solution and it's free. http://www.classicshell.net/ can install the familiar Start Button as well as put back features in Windows Explorer and Internet Explorer. And it can force Win 8 to start at the Desktop rather than the Metro button interface.
    Another thing to keep in mind. If your PC gets messed up with bad software, an infection, or other problems, trying to restore it to working condition can be a real pain or impossible. With a virtual machine, you can duplicate the VM file as a backup and simply replace the damaged VM with the backup as necessary. You can also take a snapshot of the current state and then try out software you're not sure of. If it causes problems, just restore from the snapshot and it'll be like going back in time. (I use Fusion rather than Parallels but AFAIK, in that they behave the same way.) Note that Time Machine makes backups too, but if the backup is made while Win 8 is running, the time it takes to copy the entire VM file will capture it in various states of change, which may lead to a corrupt VM backup. It's better to make the backup yourself by hand.
    Finally, you mentioned "having Windows 8 with Parallels installed with purchase" which suggests someone else will be making the initial installation decisions. I'd mentioned you could set the VM to use only the amount of disk space necessary rather than set aside a big chunk of disk space up front. That will be one of the decisions made by whoever sets it up for you. Others will be how much RAM to dedicate to Win 8 as well as how many CPU's. It's best to get that agreed upon beforehand. Indeed, setting up the rMBP should be with running Win 8 in mind too. For example, if you can, go for 16GB of RAM rather than the standard 8 (if you're getting the 15") so that both the Mac and Win 8 have breathing room.

    Same question answered here : https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5762314?tstart=0
    I just popped in with using Mavericks (I got rid of my MBP about a year ago, and just got another one when I got an Air for my wife) and noticed that Mavericks is not working and playing well with a couple of programs I already owned (Paraellels, for example...yes, I spelled it wrong...).  I looked for maginon.com and it didn't exist, nor was my google search directed to another location for them, so I postulate that the device may not be in production anymore, thus: no driver updates from the manufacturer.
    From my mac-noob-layman's perspective: get some vmware, run windows and use the scanner in your virt machine to capture your images.  Put the images in your mac side and work your mac magic on them there.

  • Replacing Window Title with other value

    Hi to everyone
    Can anyone tell me how can I replace the window title with other values...for example with active record...mean client name should appear instead of window title.
    Thanks in advance

    Here is the code I use from a simple form. You can see it handles three separate environments, Client/Server, Web separate frame, and Web inside browser window.
    I like to remove the "Oracle Forms Runtime" from the main window, only in Client/Server, you cannot remove the brackets. So you are left with - [ Your Title ]Here is the code. It can be put into either the Pre-Form or When-New-Form-Instance trigger. But note that once you do this, EVERY form must set its title, or the one you set last will show up on all your subsequent forms:
        DECLARE
          WINDOW_ID        WINDOW := FIND_WINDOW('WINDOW0');
          WTitle           Varchar2(100) := 'My Test Form';
        BEGIN
          Set_Window_Property(Window_Id,Window_State,Maximize);
          If Get_Application_Property(User_Interface) = 'WEB' then
            --Web forms:  set MDI title, erase W0 title.
            Set_Window_Property(Window_Id,Title,' ');
            Set_Window_Property(Forms_MDI_Window,Title,' ' || WTitle);
            --- Check if running SeparateFrame=False (form within browser)
            If get_window_property(forms_mdi_window,title) is null then
              --SeparateFrame=False:  running inside browser window.
              --Cannot set browser title; need to set Window0 title
              Set_Window_Property(Window_Id,Title,' ' || WTitle);
            end if;
          Else -- client/server forms
            Set_Window_Property(Forms_MDI_Window,Title,' ');
            Set_Window_Property(Window_Id,Title,' '||WTitle||' ');
          End if;
        END;

  • How can I turn off Recently Websites when opening new Safari window? After tapping on the two overlapping boxes on the bottom right of Safari, a new blank window appears with Favorites, but now in iOS 8, recently viewed websites are listed.

    How can I turn off Recently Visited Websites when opening new Safari window?
    After tapping on the two overlapping boxes on the bottom right of Safari, a new blank window appears with Favorites, but now in iOS 8, recently viewed websites are listed. How can I turn this function off? I do NOT want my new Safari windows to have history displayed of previous websites I visited. I only want my Favorites (on the top) to be displayed. Please help.
    Thank you for your time, patience, understanding, kindness, and concern.

    Thanks for replying, but that isn't the answer I am looking for.  Also, there is no + sign, UNLESS you do tap the overlapping boxes.
    Let me try to ask my question a little more clearly:
    When I tap the two overlapping boxes on the lower left (the option to Open New Windows), the new Window that appears will show your Bookmarked FAVORITES. But with my new iPhone 6, and the new iOS 8.0.2, when I tap the two boxes to open a New Window, my Bookmark Favorites show (as they always have and should), but below them, there is a dividing line underneath them, and it says Recently Viewed Websites, and has these websites available to tap.
    So my question is, HOW DO I TURN THESE OPTION OFF?
    *UPDATE  (10.13.14): Since I have asked this question, I no longer see these Recently Viewed Websites under my Bookmarked Favorites in my new Window tabs. So I hope that Apple fixed it, or somehow it was a mistake, or somehow I changed an Option on my iPhone 6 that stopped this for reoccurring.
    Thank you for your help bobseufert! I appreciate your concern, kindness, and the time to try to help. I am grateful.
    Have a blessed day.

  • Authentication issues on Windows 7 with Internet Explorer 8 (Crystal 2008)

    Hi,
    We are in the process of migrating from Windows XP to Windows 7 (with Internet Explorer 8).
    I have noticed that a web application which depends on Crystal 2008 is behaving differently in the new environment. For example, when I try to load a report I get this error:
    Access to report file denied. Another program may be using it.
    I know that this error can be caused by a permissions problem on the Windows temp folder, and I know there are various ways of pinpointing the exact permissions problem and various ways of resolving if that's the case. The fix that worked for us in Windows XP does not seem to work in Windows 7. My gut feeling is that IE is passing credential in some way differently from how it did before.
    Since many aspects of security are so different in Windows 7 compared with XP, I was hoping to find some general guidelines from SAP/Crystal re: how to deploy or configure the client/server in this environment.
    Are there any general guidelines available?
    Thank you for any help... shannon

    Hi Shannon,
    Not really, CR assumes it can access all of it's dependencies so it is a permission issue. Other than the usual config issues with IIS, full access to the      emp folder, full permissions on the Viewer folder, setting the framework in App pool correctly, etc.
    Do you have Service Pack 3 installed for Cr 2008 and the latest Fix Pack 3.5?

  • Concerns when attempting to Downgrade from Windows 8.1 to Windows 7 with Lenovo Y40-70

    Hello
    I have just purchased a Lenovo Y40-70 laptop with preinstalled Windows 8.1 OS.  I am trying to figure out how to downgrade to Windows 7 with a purchased OEM disk because of the lack of support of Windows 8.1 with many of the software packages I use for work.
    After doing some research, the concept of GPT vs MBR hard drive disks kept coming up.  Until receiently, I was under the impression that to downgrade to Windows 7, I would have to convert my HDD from GPT to MBR by deleting everything that was on it and reformatting it.  This concept scares me because of the possible loss of my Windows 8.1 OS.  It should be said that this laptop is completely new and no personal data or programs have been added.
    Recently, I came across a support document written by Lenovo that describes how to downgrade to Windows 7 for many of the ThinkPad computer models.  The problem is that my laptop is not a ThinkPad but was associated with the referred document(http://support.lenovo.com/en/documents/ht075596) with the use of their search wizard.
    The steps are as follows:
    How to install Microsoft Windows 7 on the Windows 8-based computer:
    1.Turn on the computer to start Windows 8.
    2.Hold down the Windows logo key and press C to open the Charm bar on the screen.
    3.Select Settings, then Power from the menu.
    4.Select Reboot to restart the computer.
    5.While the "To interrupt normal startup, press Enter" message is displayed at the lower-left area or lower-center of the screen, press the F1 key. The ThinkPad Setup menu will be displayed. If a password prompt appears, type the correct password.
    6.Select Restart, then make sure the operating system Optimized Defaults option is set to Disabled.
    7.Press the F9 key to load default configuration.
    8.Select Yes.
    9.Insert the Windows 7 Installation DVD into the DVD drive, then press the F10 key to save configuration and exit.
    10.Select Yes.
    11.Follow the instructions on the screen to restart the computer.
    12.Follow the instructions of Windows 7 installation DVD to install Windows 7.
    My questions are:
    1. Is there any harm that can come to my PC by trying the above steps and it not working correctly?
    2. Is there any validity to the above instructions for a Lenovo Y40-70?
    3. Am I still going to have to reformat my HDD from GPT to MBR for any of this to work? If so, what do I need to delete in "Disk Management" to reformat?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thank you

    This is probably not what you want to hear.
    The answer to question one is a qualified no. If by Damage you mean physical damage, then the answer is no. If you mean by damage to the installed OS, then if it is done improperly then yes.
    Question 2 I have no clue I have never tried to do what you are wanting to do.
    Question 3. I think you need to read this, http://www.howtogeek.com/193669/whats-the-difference-between-gpt-and-mbr-when-partitioning-a-drive/
    But I have another option for you. Have you ever thought of using a Virtual PC on the Windows 8 machine. You can run Windows 7 on Windows 8.1 and leave windows 8.1 intact. You can also install al your software on Windows 7 and run it in the virtual environment.
    Also Windows 8.1 has compatibility mode just as older versions of Windows did. Have you tried installing the software in compatibility mode?

  • Installing Windows 7 With Boot Camp on Mac Pro 3.1 w/GTX285 Video card

    I have an Early 2008 Mac Pro 3.1 running the latest version of OS 10.6 with all updates.  I have an nVidia GTX285 card installed in the Mac Pro that has been working fine for at least six months under OS 10.6 with Mac drivers downloaded from the nVidia web site and installed under OS 10.6.  I replaced the ATi 2600XT video card with the nVidia GTX285 in order to have CUDA support in Premier Pro CS 5 and it works beautifully.
    I now wish to install Windows 7 Professional 64 bit on this Mac Pro.  I have never had any version of Windows installed on this Mac Pro.  I am using Boot Camp assistant and a new full version of Windows 7 Professional 64-bit.
    My question is do I need to remove the GTX 285 graphics card and replace it with my AT 2600XT before installing Windows 7?  This would be a real pain to do because the two connectors to the motherboard are hard to get to.  However, since Apple never used the GTX285 in any of its computers, I am worried that I will not have any video display when I go to try and install Windows 7 with Boot Cam assistant.
    Please advise me whether removing the graphics card is necessary before installing Windows 7 with Boot Camp.
    Thank you in advance for responding.

    NO.... he has a workstation, and not MBP, nor are "drivers already loaded."
    How I would proceed -
    Install Windows on its own drive.
    Pull all the other drives.
    Boot from Windows 7 Pro DVD
    Forget Boot Camp Assistant, it doesn't do anything - unless you really want to install Windows on the SAME drive as Mac OS - not ideal and not what most of Mac Pro owners do.
    Just insert your OS X DVD once Windows is up to date - helps to buy the SP1 OEM version $129.
    Run Apple SETUP.exe (Boot Camp 3.0.x drivers) and update with ASU or manually to 3.2.
    No you don't need to go back and use that ATI. And you dont' want to be in the situation of changing from ATI to Nvidia and all the hassle that adds. you are fine.
    The Mac Pro is as close as anything to a standard Wintel workstation.
    Add MS Security Essentials or KIS or whatever you favor. KIS2011 or NIS2011 are good, MSSE 2.0 is free and based on their enterprise product.
