Case for PC build

Hi!
After some help and suggestions from this forum I’m already to start building my new computer. I’m just looking for my ideal PC case can be Tower or a midi (depth should not exceed 510mm).                 I have seen the Corsair Graphite Series™ 600T which would be my ideal except the depth is slightly deeper than I wanted. If anyone can suggest a case with the same features I would appreciate it, if not I will have to go with the 600T or the taller 700 even though it is slightly deeper than I wanted.
Mike

Thanks Harm
Yes you are right I know it, problem is not so much the Height as the depth of the case. This should ideally be less than 520mm (21.47”) in order to fit the space I planned for it. The Corsair T600 along with their larger versions (Obsidian 700D & 800D) has the correct specification, everything I need in a case. If I am unable to find a case with a similar spec, I will go for the larger Obsidian 700D case and just to have to find a new home for it.

  • Advice on how to build a business case for partitioning

    Hi Everyone,
I'm the architect of a business intelligence/data warehouse team. We've grown to the point where I believe we need database partitioning. I believe we are at about 1.5 TB of data. Our largest tables are in the 100 million row counts with relatively wide record lengths (~100 columns). Our just sort of large tables are in the 10 million to 50 million range, however, they have very long row lengths (~300 columns). Based on our future source system plans, our data will become even more granular and there is still a need to maintain our historical data.
Those aren't the only reasons, but are some of the larger driving issues that are making most members of our team think it's time we purchased database partitioning. Our team is pretty unanimous for partitioning, many of our source system partners also consider it a "no-brainer", however, we're getting push back from our CIO saying that 1.5 TB and 100 million records isn't that much data as compared to other "big data" companies and that it doesn't require partitioning.
Does anyone have a advice on how to build an business case for purchasing partitioning? Is there a good way to demonstrate cost-vs-benefit value?
    Thanks for your feedback.
    -=Joe

I'm going to be contrarian and start from the end of your post.
    >

    >
Yes - forget about cost-vs-benefit. That's the CIOs job not yours. You're an architect. Stick to architecture. Design and implement the architecture needed to meet the business requirements of your projects. If you are given requirements that can't be met with your current infrastructure then that is when you should propose alternative infrastructure.

    >
NONSENSE! That's what ALL of the above statements represent - UTTER AND ABSOLUTE NONSENSE.
Who cares what you believe? Beliefs don't carry weight, facts do. You do list some facts: 1.5 TB of data, 100 million row counts, wide record lengths, large sorts, long rows, data will get more granular, need to maintain historical data.
Ho Hum! So what? How do ANY of those facts indicate any sort of issue or problem, existing or potential, at all? They don't. You haven't provided information that suggests that ANY of those facts illustrate what Justin referred to as 'pain points'.
Unless those facts prevent you from doing your job of providing an architecture that meets the business requirements you don't have a leg to stand on.
My first reaction to your request would be similar to your cio's. Implicit in your cio's response are some questions you need to ask and answer
    1. What is it that you do now that you can't do with the current architecture?
    2. What is it that you need to do for an upcoming requirement that you can't do with the current architecture?
    3. What alternatives are available to modify the current architecture to do what can't be done in items #1 and #2 above?
That #3 is where my skepticism lies. You seem to have already concluded that partitioning is the answer. Why? What problems do you think it will solve? Why not RAC? Why not a separate data warehouse system? Why not split that historical data off into an OLAP system? Maybe that can reduce the size of the OLTP system to where you won't have whatever problems you are having.
Partitioning is just about addressing some performance issues. A lot of times partitioning is used more for management purposes such as loading/offloading data without impacting those huge tables you are talking about.
If my hot queries use a primary key value to retrieve data it isn't going to matter much if the tables are partitioned or not.
That is what sets the context for what Justin is telling you. You and your team need to document the constraints (and SLAs) your system currently has, how close you are to hitting those constraints, your options for avoiding/evading those constraints using the current infrastructure and the options for avoiding/evading those constraints using a modified architecture.
It is up to the CIO to do the cost-benefit analysis of working within the limits imposed by the current infrastructure versus modifiying the architecture.

  • How to use substitution variable in case of dim build

    Hi all,
Lets say I have 3 sub vars - Prevmonth, prevmonth-1, prevmonth-2. These will change every quarter.
I want to build a cube which will have which will have only the above 3 months in the Fiscal dimension. This will be used once at the end of quarter.
How do I refer substitution variables in case of dim build rule files? I want automate the process. We have SQL dim build for other dims, only this dim can be built from flat file also.
Or is there any other way to achieve this apart from using sub vars? I can try store the 3 variables in a table and then use them to build the cube, but want to see if we can avoid creating one more interface.
    Thanks.

Actually using the values of subvars to build a dimension (which I believe is what you want) is a fun problem.  Here's an (Oracle) example that would do that, without requiring any additional table or flat file:
        SELECT 'FiscalPeriod' AS Parent,
               CASE Level
                  WHEN 1 THEN '&CurrMonth'
                  WHEN 2 THEN '&PrevMonth'
                  WHEN 3 THEN '&PrevMonthMinusOne'
               END AS Child
          FROM Dual
    CONNECT BY Level <= 3
Here's how it looks in the load rule SQL dialog, and the data prep editor:
It's fun because I've never thought about it before, but I don't actually recommend this - if you have other ETL going on in SQL I'd generate the values in a table / view there, and have a script that both updates the subvars and builds the dimension direct from that.

  • Location case for laptops in Digital Photography

    Hello everyone
I am a professional photographer often using a laptop on location to store and process my images. I've been looking for and not finding a case I can have the laptop in as well as have it open with a dark viewing cover. And ofcorse I would like to mount it on a tripod. Has anyone seen such and animal? Or am I destined to Rube Goldberg or "McGyver" my own.

We have to haul our macs and camera equipment all over this country while attending paintball tournaments and we have found that pelican cases seem to work the best for us. They are roomy and offer some outstanding protection.
For the tripod it might be best to purchase a small platform table that the case can sit on but to be honest we usually take a small lifetime adjustable table with me for shoots that require me to get to the laptop at a decent level. These are those sturdy white plastic tables you find at sams club.
We use a hoodman sun screen to be able to work in bright sunlight. Cheap and practical. They usually run about 35$
I realize the simple tripod setup would be nice and I am sure that could be done by mounting the tripod mount on the bottom of the pelican but how sturdy are these? I have about 3k tied up into my powerbook and there is no way in heck that I would stick it on top of a tripod. A full studio shooting stand.....thats another story.
Now....for the right money any custom case company will build you something right to your specs. This would include the stand, table, case and hood all built in. It only takes a phone call and about 700 to 1000$.
We usually purchase our pelicans from here:
    http://www.customcases.com/ we use the 1600 and 1650's
    Good luck in your search.

  • SAP Implementation for a building construction company

    Dear All ,
We are doing SAP implementation for a building construction Company .My client is responsible for building construction .What they do is initially some 10 members of this Company will create a society(Legal Entity)  .They are like promoters for company . They will put advertisement for buying of flats belonging to that society . Then some 20 members (outside) join this society by registering who are actual buyers of the Flats which society builds .
Then this society passes a resolution that my client will be the building contractor for flats . After that these 20 outside members will pay the full amount . After this Flats were built then these members will occupy flat ,then after some 4 -5 years of maintenance these 10 core members of society will hand over the society completely to secondary members and come out of the society .
Now how we will map this society in SAP  .One society can have more than one project going on . Somebody is suggesting to treat a society as a company code . But we have more than 250 societies . Is it viable . Shall we create plant for each project .

    Hi Abhijit,
Suggestion by our PS consultant for your requirement is

  • Test Script/case for checking Securities in SAP BW-7.3

    Hi All,
Please  test script/case for testing securities/authorizations in BW-7.3 after upgrade.
Basically we have upgraded from BW-3.5 to BW-7.3 and as securities concepts got changes we need to test for the same.
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Manju

    hi,
one more thing i will like to add here is in BW 7.3 you get a new security admin feature that allows you to make mass changes to authorizations instead of one-by-one. This can be done by cut-and-paste in a worklist, hierarchy nodes, and you can also add users to multiple analysis authorizations.
The u2018newu2019 authorizations has both the data value and hierarchy restrictions. You can still build using the u201CRSECADMINu201D transaction
Also make sure that all objects are in the TLIBG library and they will be 'shielded' during the upgrade.
    regards

  • The ANT comes with JDev 9.0.4 - is that for development build?

The ANT comes with JDev, is it the latest version? Do I need to download latest and from somewhere and how do I integrate ANT with JDeveloper? Would it be just for the development build? If I integrate ANT with JDev, that wouldn't bge for release or production build - would it? In that case, I need to install ANT externally!

Apache has released several versions of Ant since JDeveloper 9.0.4 was released. I believe the version of Ant that shipped with JDeveloper 9.0.4 was Ant 1.5.1 (you can always verify the Ant version by using the echo task to print out the "${ant.version}" property).
If you want to upgrade to the lastest version (currently, Ant 1.6.1), see the thread "New ant version" in this forum. We will also be shipping the latest release of Ant with future releases of JDeveloper.
I'm not exactly sure what you mean about the Ant integration being for the development build versus release build. You can choose to configure Ant to be the default build mechanism for your JDeveloper project, in which case it will be used for all builds. Or you can simply open your buildfile in the project, and right click on it to run specific targets. In the latter case, the Ant integration would only be for specific builds.
    Hope that answers your questions.

  • Any official Update for Flex Builder 3 to use Flash Player 10 Api?

Any official Update for Flex Builder 3 to use Flash Player 10
    Api?
How can i use flash player's 10 features in flex builder 3?
    Thanks

I was able to solve my problem by modifying the solution
    offered in
    this
    technote.
The technote identifies a permissions problem with the
components directory of non-Safari browsers. In my case the
permissions problem appears to have been in the main
/Library/Internet Plug-Ins directory. What tipped me off to the
solution was the fact that after manually removing Flash
    Player.plugin and flashplayer.xpt from the /Library/Internet
Plug-Ins directory, subsequent attempts to install Flash Player
resulted in the "Creating file: 1008:5, -5000 Access Denied Error"
I remembered seeing in the technote. Before removing these files,
the installer would just fail silently, perhaps because it saw
files it was going to install already living in the right place,
and furthermore had no permissions to alter the directory.
In any case, by making the permissions change recommended in
the technote to the /Library/Internet Plug-Ins directory, I was
able to install the plug-in, which gave me back access to Flash
    content in all my browsers.
Hope this is helpful to someone else...

  • Whether it is recommended to buy case for iphone

I was wondering whether the iphone develops a lot of scratches over time. Is it advisable to buy a case for it. If yes, which one is the best one to buy.

    loki357 wrote:
a case is not needed, unless you want a belt clip, or really just want to make your phone more bulky, but the screen protecting films i highly recommend, its cheap, 15 bucks for two films. it protects from little nicks and scratches on the screen, which its durable, but still prone to slowly accumulating small and annoying nicks, that over time will build up and be very obnoxious.
I believe that a case also protects your iPhone from other than scratches or 'little" nicks as you have suggested. Whether you use the 'film', or a 'skin' or a 'belt' case, it does help prevent other catastrophic situations by providing additional padding if you put it in your pocket, drop it, etc.
The idea of saying "unless" you want to "make your iPhone more bulky" is somewhat flippant, i.e., no one wants more bulk but if it prevents the possible destruction of the iPhone you make a choice - just like the FRAM guy on TV.

  • Belkin Case for Dell Junkebox works GREAT for Zen To

Decided to take a chance and I purchased the case that Belkin makes for the Dell Jukebox MP3 player. It works beautifully!!! You have access to all of the controls and the case does not have to be removed. The touch pad works better than it did before; perhaps the plastic facecover diminishes the static electricity build-up that cases the touch pad to become over-sensiti've. The clip on the back of the case is strong, the player is protected all the way around and you have access to and see everything that you would want. I paid $2.50 plus shipping and I am very happy. Just wanted my fellow Zen Touch owners to know. Thanks. Happy playing!!

Brenda, I have had the case since Friday and it functions just fine. There is a plastic strip running along part of the side of the case where the Touch's controls are. You can clearly see all of them and there is no "feeling around" involved. If you check out the web address for the product, you will see that the item is a "drawstring" affir. While the case is drawn partially closed at the top, you have easy access to everything on top of the Zen without having to undo the case one bit. On the side of the Touch where there is the connection for the charger, a hole is already there and it works very well. The case's plastic faceplate has a hole in it so you have easy access to the Touch's "OK" button. I am very, very pleased with the item. By the way, Belkin is currently selling the case for 50% off, which puts the tab at $2.50 plus shipping.handling. Please check previous posts in this thread for the web page of the product. Enjoy!!

  • The case for raw arrays?

My understanding is Java's designers prefered extensiblity, ease of support, and faster app development, and that performance was given less emphasis.
I know the subject of Java perfomance is the subject of heated debate, so I am not asking about that. Rather,
What did the designers of Java have in mind with regard to raw arrays? An ArrayList is everything a raw array is, and more. While a raw array is
very limited (fixed size, cannot hold object references).
So, I can understand why you read out of Streams with byte[] chunks. However, is there a case for using a raw array as a method level data structure?

    tjacobs01 wrote:
#1 Memory usage when dealing with primitives, is much much higherOops?
I think you ment to say: Memory usage when dealing with Object[]s, is much much higher than the equivalent primitive array, especially ${AnyCollection}<Byte> vs byte[]
    Yes?
Also could I suggest pcj. Even though primitive collections are a bit old, and a bit daggy, in my opinion they still have a place in the panopoly of data-structures... somewhere between int[] and List<Integer>... although I must admit that generics and auto-boxing superceded the motivation for much of there use... it was just so nice to not-have-to un/box everything manually from/to Object (yuck).
      IntList list = new IntArrayList(1000);
      list.set(i, list.get(i)+1);
    .... verses ... pre-generics and autoboxing ....
      List list = new ArrayList(1000);
      list.set(  i,  Integer.valueOf( ((Integer)list.get(i)).intValue() + 1 )  );Much simpler to read and write... Yes?
Not to mention the memory savings gained by using arrays of primitives, and the operations are (according to my not-authorative tests) very nearly as fast as raw arrays... if it's possible to "do it better" I admit I can't see how... except it does have the odd (unnessary as far as I'm concerned) index check... but if your timing if (index < 0 || index >= size) you're either optimising the wrong code, or your writing FTL code again... and that trick never works ;-)
Also could I suggest an ArrayList of primitive-arrays (think book of "pages")... although I haven't (yet) found a nice ready made library which implements this... In the good ole' days (ansi C) we used linked-lists-of-arrays when we needed growable datastructures... like when you couldn't know the size of a string beforehand (especially building reports).
... and I'd just like to say I think the above discussion is a good insightful summary of the topic... Thank you!
    Cheers all. Keith.

JMX is for management, build.xml and what you have here is for assembling applications - in your case webservices.
unless I'm missing something, using what you have is the best way to go.

  • Case for protection

I am thinking about getting a case for my iphone, but then I realized that you can't use the dock with the case on.
Do they make cases for the iphone that you can still use the dock with? Or do you have to take off the case everytime you place it on the dock?

I have one from Griffen - it's called a Nu Form - where the bottom third slides off easily for docking. You can also access the connector plug directly with the cable. It's polycarbonate 7 has clear plastic over the screen so gives good protection. I haven't noticed any heat build up while charging.
