Case on or off?

Since I got my lumia I've had the rubber cover supplied with it on. Whats your preference? And for those who are not using the case, whats the durability of the back like? I really don't want to get any scratches on my phone.
Thanks

The phone it self is pretty durable, but what is easy to scratch is the metal plate around the camera area. By design this is the surface that gets rubbed agains every table or what not hard surface you put your phone on.   So if you want to avoid this metal area getting scratched, i would suggest you use a case, but its always up to personal preference.
My N9 is already gotten scratches on this metal plate, but the polycarbonate body looks as new. Me personally dont mind the scratches, I use the phone, it will get scratched, but thats all up to each user

  • Should I keep the case on or off?

    HI all
I am wondering if I should keep the iphone case I have which is a white incase for my 3gs on or off. I mean I have taken it off today just to remove my clear screen protector, I have now noticed dust and some tiny items around the corner of the screen and the chrome part, which I am now trying to clean out. Whats the best way to clean this phone? I am careful with my iphone, never dropped it on the concrete ground. Only might have dropped it in the car a few times and next to my bed. However it is always in a pocket with no keys or coins. What do you guys think?
    Thanks in advance.

Why would you want to take your IP out of a case if you have it in a case to protect the finish?
Re the clean screen protectors, I've never seen one that can be removed without picking up small pieces of dust. The deal for them is to put it on and leave it on until you want to replace it with a new protector.
Re editing, I think you only have about 15 minutes to edit an entry and then you have to do a "reply" to add information/questions.

  • Which case WON'T peel off my GhostArmor screen protector!?

I know there's a lot of discussion about this already, but I was wondering if anyone has advice on which free case to go with that hopefully will NOT peel off the corners of my Ghost Armor full body protector. I have tried NUMEROUS silicone cases so far, off-brands i can't remember, but from Best Buy. They all have peeled the corners off my front & back protectors!!! SO annoying since the Ghost Armor cost me about $35. I can easily replace each side for only $5 but I want to do that after I finally settle on a case. I've been going without a case, just the Ghost Armor, and have fallen in love with the sleekness of it.
HOWEVER i did drop my phone already and actually chipped the corner a little. Not a biggie, i'm prone to doing that kind of stuff.
I like the look of the Griffin Motif Diamonds/Smoke. I previously owned a case like this i bought from Apple in June for my 3Gs, and it's edges were so smooth, not sharp, that my screen protector never peeled. My old diamond case had smaller diamonds so it "sparkled" more, not like these big huge obvious diamonds. Leaning toward this one since I liked my old one so much, but it wasn't a Griffin. I have bought a pink silicone diamond case from best buy, and it was soooo hard and it peeled the edges right back. Also left an indent/impression of the diamond designs on the back protector. eeew.
Also looking at the bumper, but bummed because it's only in black - then i'd have a super plain black phone. However, all i seem to need is something rubber around the edges when i drop it! LOL
The Speck fabric/hard case is cool, but it looks a little too bulky.
The Incase snap cases are neat looking also- and i'm thinking the snap design would be easier on protectors....?? But they're just a tad boring.
Decisions, decisions....Any advice or thoughts are much appreciated!

I didn't like the anti-glare one I bought from ebay, took the beauty from the screen. So I had ZAGG put on, at best buy. I was told to wait 24 hrs before putting the gel case back on and so I did... I put it back on perfectly and guess what? Within like 10 mins the corners started to get bubbles. I was so mad! Ugh so I returned it and got a refund but minus the $7.99 best buy charges to put on the protector. I was ripped off and lied to! I would like to know also which screen protector will stand a case on? I never had problems with the regular clear ones that r like a sticker.. I just wanted extra protection for my iphone 4.

  • For iPhone Case Lovers and their concern of Magnet Closers!!

I recently learned that some have had issues with their iPhone when used with a cases that includes magnets for closing. Sorry mwhitted for your woes.
While looking for a nice case for myself I became concerned of this, and decide to contact Sena about their Dockable iPhone case. This case seemed to be exactly what I was looking for, but after reading mWhitted and a few others problems I wasn't sure.
So I sent them a e-mail with the links and question their knowledge about their product.
This was late last night (about 1:39 am). How about 10:09 in the a.m. I get a response! A Long and thoroughly explained response (read Below).
Great customer service! I am going to give this company a try and see how well this works.
I have included my original e-mail to them and their response by Ronda so that you may judge for yourself.
PS. mWhitted, aparently the case you used may not have had the proper magnets and maybe not assembled appropriately for this phone which may have caused the problem. What do you think, maybe this may have been the cause?
Thanks for the info by the way.
Below is my email to them.

    Subject: Pre-Order Dockable iPhone case
I have looked up many cases for my iPhone and I have found your Dockable one to be just the style and function I am looking for. Although recently there has been a buzz going around that the magnetic closing cases such as these have caused many iPhones to malfunction.
I was curious as to if you had any information on this? I also wanted to send you this so that you may look into this to avoid any potential problems with your sales.
Another question, I would like to know if it would be possible to replace the magnets in this case and apply velcro to it instead as an option for your customers?
As far as the info that I had on the magnets, you can read tease threads from apple support forums for reference.

Subject: Case Update: 1086 - Pre-Order Dockable iPhone case
Update for Case #1086 - "Pre-Order Dockable iPhone case"
We use only non Neodymium magnets that do not interfere with the device. We have done extensive testing with many devices to assure that the magnet use will not harm the internal applications or antenna on the devices which we manufacture cases for. Also we have long created cases for use with the IPOD nano, Ipod 3rd,4th and Ipod Video devices using the non Neodymium magnets in our cases without any interferance at all after selling thousands upon thousands of cases. Sena Cases are designed by Engineers with PhD, they are all handcrafted by skilled craftsmen who have been in the leather industry for many years making them expert leather craftsmen, our cases are not just designed by a purse maker or a designer who is thinking of only fashion and style, because of the engineering focus of the design staff they are detail oriented making sure that each and every feature and function of the device has been addressed and is accessible as well as taking wevery precaution to protect the devices and information which belongs to our loyal customers, and new customers as we hope that each person who finds their way to Sena Cases will become loyal to our products for all devices which they own now and in the future. Because our company's entire focus is PDA, Smartphone and Computer cases Sena Management and Design staff have extensively researched magnets available in the industry and magnetic substrates, with a solid plan to avoid any magnet which would harm any device we have created a case for, So the selection of the magnets available and the possible strengths that we can use are focused on a very limited type and size of magnet, sometimes even shape takes some precidence in the design of certain cases, in regards to the iPhone magnets the staff have created a new installation making the magnet undetectable on the open face of the case so that the form and shape are very sleek and suitable to the high style devbice which is in the Sena Case. Some case makers off shore may just throw a case together without considering future ramifications, These case manufacturers may be selling cases at a lower price point not created out of fine materials or more novelty type accessory cases that are often offered at a bargain price that is unbelievably inexpensive, They may be thinking when creating their own design that " this company and that company use magnets we will to..." this may be how cases get created for devices which may harm the device that they were intended to protect. Sena Cases has taken every precaution to design a slim sleek sexy iphone case that will protect your device in a very stylish fashion throughout the years that you own this expensive device.
I will pass your forum links on to our design staff and the research group as well as our company president for review, Customer feedback is highly valued here at Sena Cases. I assure you that serious research has been done to assure that your iPHONE case will fit precisely allow access to all features and functions and to protect your investment in the device and the information which it contains as you as well as your referrals and your future business is our main focus and if we dint sweat all the little details to attempt to create you a perfect case for your device we could not expect your loyalty to our brand.
We do also stand behind all our products with a one year warranty against any manufacturing defects. The best compliment we can receive is for a customer to refer family, friends, colleagues and strangers that they cross paths with to our cases as your refferral of our product is more valuable to us that a full page color ad in a major magazine, if your happy you will refer many people to our products who will refer their friends and so on and so on....
Stephan, I reccomend that you avoid Neodymium magnets in what ever case you elect to purchase and you will be fine, I am hopefull that you will elect to protect your iPhone in our cases, as we make a fine product as does many competitors in the market, I am not familiar with their designs for this device so I cannot speak openly about any of them, but the iPHONE cases in our office on display as well as future designer cases to be released before the fall are all incredible. Sena Will have some leathers and designs nwever seen before by similar type device owners ever in the past, as our company has searched out new Leather vendors as well as creating our traditional line of stylish Sena cases will be releasing a designer series of cases for iPHONE because the device is phenomonal the design staff and management felt that the cases could also help carry off the devices style in a ddifferent intrepretation.
You will love any of the Sena Cases designs which are available now or in the future., We have had customers stop by and try on the prototype cases which we have photographed and were in love with the look and fit. The sensor on the face of the case has been revised the original case designed before the device was available to accommodate the proximity/light sensors! The sensor lies above the ear piece at the top of the screen. so there will be two circular oval type openings above the screen. These cases are really off the hook, crazy cool and distinctively beautiful, I am hopeful you will enjoy owning one to protect your device.

    OK. Here it is...
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neodymium_magnet
"Neodymium magnets are very strong in comparison to their mass..."
    A.K.A. "rare-earth magnetS".
"While most solid state electronic devices are not effected by magnetic fields, some medical devices are not manufactured to mitigate the effects of strong magnetic fields." Maybe phones too?
These could be the ones that I removed from my case:

    From the above sales site:
"Never place neodymium magnets near electronic appliances."

  • Firewire drive cases

The firewire ports on my External Lacie drive are not working anymore, and I called Lacie to find out what can be done, and they said I needed to get a new casing for the IDE drive that is inside.
Can anyone recommend an external firewire case brand, company or website that will work well with my Powermac G5. I will be using it mostly for video editing, and I need it fairly quick considering I am in the middle of a project that I can't touch right now, because of the broken firewire ports.
    Thanks!
    Dan

You had the FW ports go out, but you want el cheapo case... to save a couple bucks? LaCie is popular, more expensive than building your own, and seem to be mentioned often here as having problems.
Make sure that your FW case is powered off, unplug your Mac totally for 15 minutes. Try again. Or that it isn't an issue with the cable (I use Granite FireVue, not cheap but excellent) or the power supply which have been a frequent problem with LaCie.
I usually check what www.macsales.com along with FWDepot and FWDirect. I would also look for FW800/400 - you can always use a cable to adapt FW800 to work in FW400 mode, and still benefit from better Oxford 912 bridge and performance (50MB+/sec vs 25-35MB/sec).

  • Wifi not working because case is kryptonite...

I recently bought 3 iPhone 4s for my family, but one iPhone 4s could not locate the Wi-Fi in our home while the other 2 had no issues with it, I contacted sprint, and went to there corporate store, after complete resets and numerous deactivations and reactivations the problem still was present. Sprint instructed me that the phone was the problem. I returned the phone and received a brand new in the box iPhone, this phone did the same exact thing, after calling sprint and doing everything possible they could not figure out the problem, but I did!!! The problem was a case I bought off eBay, for whatever reason this plastic case blocked the Wi-Fi signal, as soon as I remove the case it worked fine, when I put the case on the other iPhones I lost the signal, so I guess certain cases are like kryptonite for the iPhone. The name of the case I bought says minges on the box and it comes in all colors and has an elegant leather type backing the phone case is plastic so I don't know why it blocked the signal. Any ideas?

No there is no access control enabled in the router.Today my iphone connected with the wifi at a hotspot, and when i checked the connection i saw the ip address and all.At my home, my ip address, subnet and DNS fields are all empty.May be this can trigger you for solutions.

  • Computer on and off every other day

is it bad? i really don't know. i've been doing this logic 7 hour sessions every other day by myself for 2 years... almost flawlessley. A true gift to have this time!!!It's unbelievable how much you guys have helped me here. I've been rec./ digitally for 10 years now...am I screwing up by powering down (everything)Monitors, Preamps, external drives..mixers. I always do this.

At the rate of which Electrical component are made today, there shouldn't be arm in leaving stuff on,
where as its made from a reputable manufacture, and as a signature or seal of approval.
Power-ing down stuff will result in less consumption of Electricity, and will maintain a better system in-terms of abuse when left unattended.
E.g. if there is a power failure back and forth, which may blow your system, if its not plug into a power-serge, that will protect it from these element of surprise.
Another e.g. if your using a projector, and its left on, when not in use, then the life-span of the bulb, will be shorten because the life on these bulbs is for a certain amount of hours.
So in this case leaving it off will result in a better life-span,
also plasma screen is like that as well, other than that, it should be fine.
If you're not bordered about paying the excess on electric rates,
even though have it on and off, then on again could result in you paying more, than if it was to be left on in the first place.
Stuff such as monitor is always left on even if the computer is off, in most set-up.
Power amps/Mic/pre nice to leave of when not in use they eat that energy, believe.

  • Report available for test cases (manual test script files uploaded)?

We upload our test script files to the "Test Case" tab, assign it a status.  We are hoping to have a report that would report all test case files and their STATUSES.
In solar_eval, there is a standard SAP report for test case provided.  However, the field "Status" for the test case file is not included in this report.
Is there any report available that would give us this status?  If not, in which table does this data come from?  Is there anyway to build a simple SQVI query to extract the list of test cases and their statuses?
    Any help is highly appreciated!

    Hi Jo,
It's not entirely clear on whether you are look for 'Status' values of the Test Case document itself OR for 'Status' values of the Test(s) conducted on such Test Case documents.
I believe the following two SOLAR_EVAL reports should resolve either ways:
    (a) SOLAR_EVAL -> Project -> Configuration -> Assignments -> Documentation (Programme called is SAPLSPROJECT_SOLAR_DOC_EVAL_IM) , Tick only 'Test Cases' and switch off other tabs
    (b) SOLAR_EVAL -> Project -> Test -> Test Plan Status Analysis
    Best regards,

I just purchased a Lenovo Flex 2 14 and have had it for less than a week. Within 4 days of it arriving, the emblem on the outside case is lifting off and getting caught on everything. I've seen many posts for other Lenovo models that have had this same problem since 2011 and no one from Lenova responds.  I've also seen people recommending buying the replacement logos on Ebay. Seriously?  If I'm spending upwards of $600 on a laptop, I don't want it to start falling apart days after my purchase nor do I want to be ignored by the manufacturer or have to go junk picking on ebay to piece it together.  Lenovo - what's the deal?

  • Griffin Reveal case for iPhone 4 - anybody get one of these?

Anybody get one of these cases for your iPhone? How is it? I would like a clear case to show off the back and the Reveal is one that does this. Anybody have thoughts on this, how is it with reception?

If the case is tight enough to cause a scratch, don't put a shield on it first! The shield will just peel away at the edges. Instead, be SURE that both the back of the phone AND the inside of the case are free of any dust before putting the phone in the case! I learned this lesson long ago with my first iPod, a first generation Nano. Ended up with a big fat scratch down that beautiful chrome back because of some little piece of dust or granule of something. Now when I put a case on any piece of electronics, I get a microfiber cloth and wipe off the entire device and the case. That is the only way to ensure that the case doesn't cause a scratch!
On another note, has anyone who has this case dropped their phone? I was going to wait for Incase to come out with cases but they are taking too long! I'm thinking of going clear because of how cool this phone looks, but I don't want a case that will pop off or crack if dropped. While I am very careful with my phone, I am clumsy!

  • No Face Time on/off in Prefs

So this morning I'm trying to test Face Time with a friend who just got his phone activated. When I tried to 'call' him on FT, his phone just sat silent. I tried to 'call' myself from his phone, but when I did I noticed there was no FT option. I went to his Prefs ---> Phone but there was no option for FT at all. I looked on mine and had the FT option.
Any ideas why he has no FT option in Prefs?
    Thanks.

FIXED!!! I spent two days looking for a solution and I finally found it!
First of all let me say that there seems to be multiple Face Time issues.
The issue I resolved is the one that causes FT to disappear after restoring from backup. In this case, the on/off toggle for FT will not even show under Settings>Phone. BONUS: if you are also having a problem with your data service, MMS or cannot use visual voicemail this will also repair that!!
