Case Question -- iSkin Solo FX Mirrored Screen Protector

I'm considering the iSkin solo FX case for my new iPhone (http://www.iskin.com/solo/). It comes with a mirrored screen protector. I'm assuming the mirrored faceplate is like a two-way mirror, allowing light to emit from behind. Anybody tried this case? Does the mirrored face cut down on the brightness of the iPhone's screen?

The case is real cool ( i have the burnt orange one.) Real sleek, and grips nicely on hard surfaces. 2 BUTS: the mirror face always looks grimy, because it shows every single fingerprint, (especially if you have lotion on your hand or face.) And some dirt accumulates along the side edges. But the look is nice (definitely a two-way mirror effect) and only cuts down on the brightness of the screen about 5%.

  • Mirror screen protector and case

does anyone know a case that has a mirror front that does not need to be "glued" onto the screen (I'm very bad at applying screen protectors ;))

A friend at work has one...they are very cheaply made and don't last...it's no wonder why they come 3 to a pack or only like 5 bucks...they are not as hardy as the other brands and they don't have the best adhesion so they are just all around not what I'd go with for a long term protector...now if you just want a look of coolness for a little while go for it

  • Anyone know if there is a case with a built in privacy screen protector?

I know that like otterboxes and some other case companies have a screen protector built into the front face plate of the case. i just wondered if there's something along the lines with a privacy screen protector any help is appreciated oh ant by the way i am interested if there is one for the iphone 4

I know VLC makes an iPad player (or used to anyway, they might have removed it for some reason), but the real champion when it comes to ripped media is CineXplayer.  I'm not sure how or why, but he offers superb play-back on almost all my content.
He does sometimes have trouble with audio-codecs... and on my first gen-ipad he lags on 1080p playback.  But I think that's a hardware limitation due to the tiny RAM chip they put in it, more so than a software limitation.

  • Question about the SGP Oleophobic screen protector

I just ordered one of the SGP Ultra Oleophobic protectors and was curious about their longevity. I never used a screen protector on my 3g and never had a scratch, but after some of the horror stories I've heard, I decided to put one on my iP4. Anyway, I don't have much a frame of reference as to how long these things last. Should I expect to buy a set twice a year/every two months? What has been your experience?

Resolved. Went to Genius Bar this morning to discuss yellow-screen issue.
The Genius looked at my iPhone (which is yellow), looked at my girlfriend's iPhone (which is okay). Brought both iPhones to the back office, came back within minutes, and said "compared both to my iPhone yours (the yellow one) obviously looks more yellow. I will compare yours with other display iPhone models, and we will give you a replacement if we still find yours too yellow."
So he brings me and goes to in-store display iPhones, and compares. Mine looks obviously more tinted and looks worn out. He admits my screen is defective, and goes on to give me a new replacement phone. Screen looks awesome, and it works very good.
My original phone (yellow one) serial number started with 868. My gf's iPhone starts with 888. And my new replacement iPhone starts with 878.
Now this is just my thoughts, but if other yellow phones are also serial batch 868, I believe it is the defective batch. Maybe not, but it is possible.

  • IPhone6 Case with glass screen protector?

    Folks,
I want it all!. Is there a good case that comes with a glass screen protector for my iPhone 6 that also addreses the curve issue of other screen protectors? If I have to wait a few weeks, so be it.
    Thanks.

This Dual Layer Hybrid Case has built in screen protection and excellent drop protection. Lol, we all want it all!

  • Should you put a screen protector on the iphone if the case is going to be a otterbox defender?

I am trying to figure out if I need a screen protector on my iphone 4s if I am using a Otterbox Defender.  The salesman suggested I should but I know a lot of people who do not use any screen protection on other cases/shells.

I never used a screen protector while my iPhone was in the Defender case. The Otterbox case is engineered to protect your device. I'm not sure why the salesman suggested you use both. I used the Otterbox Defender case for a little over a year and my iPhone was flawless when I removed it. Hope this helps.

  • A truly transparent iPhone 5 screen protector?

I got an iPhone 5 last week. First thing I did was buy a nice sleek, clear 'shell' case for it and also a screen protector. The case is great as it gives some protection, doesn't cover the controls, doesn't spoil the nice design of the device and makes it feel a bit more assured in your hand. All good ;-) Not so with the screen protector.
I bought a Belkin Anti-Smudge screen protector, which came as a pack of 2 for $14. I fitted it okay but when I unlocked the phone I was very disappointed with the display. The beautiful iPhone 5 screen was reduced to a grainy, much less clear display. Text also appeared more fuzzy and harder to read. Sort of Retina to rectum!! :-( It was really quite poor. On the other hand I would like some piece of mind that a screen protector can offer. So I'm wondering what the alternative option might be that a truly transparent? I seen lots online but I'm bought off buying until I hear about a particular product - After the Belkin thing it's a case of once bitten twice shy. 'Tru-Clear' my arse! Not impressed with that at all.

I think you're right, Peter. It's a toss up between screen protection & spoiling the lovely Retina display or taking a chance and seeing things as they should be. I've looked at a few friends and families phones, that have protectors on them, and the display is really degraded by them. I don't think I'll bother with a protector and I've bought an iPhone 5 'sock' to protect the phone when I travel. That will do me for now

  • Do you really need a screen protector for iPad?

So I know the iPad 4th gens have a really durable glass screen. Do I really need a screen protector? I have a case that covers the screen. It is an incpio.

If you have a cover for it (your case) you shouldn't need a screen protector. I use Apple's Smart Cover and do not have a screen protector.

  • Screen Protector Reccomendations

    Hi,
I plan on buying an iPad and am looking for a few recommendations for simple clear screen protector.
I am going to be buying either the Switcheasy Nude or the Incipio Feather case that both come with clear screen protectors but if there are any with great recommendations that are sold separately i will most likely get one.
I DO NOT want one with that spray on applicator stuff, id ideally like one of the static ones similar to the iphone ones that used to be sold in apple stores.
    Thanks

I ordered a matte screen protector from Clarivue directly from their website. Application is similar to Power Support with protective removable plastic sheets on the front and back of the protector, which makes it more rigid and therefore easier to apply. I am very happy with this protector since it dramatically reduces glare and fingerprints, and does not affect sensitivity of the touch screen. It does slightly reduce screen clarity, but I got used to it after about a week.
Although i really like the Invisible Shield on my iPod Touch, the Clarivue and Power Support protectors are much easier to apply on the large iPad screen and the matte versions cut down on more glare and fingerprints.

  • The best case and screen protector for the iPad 4 Retina?

I have just purchased an iPad for my parents as a surprise gift and it should be arriving this Friday. I am quite stumped however on deciding on what case do I put this iPad in and what screen protector do I put on the iPad.
For screen protection: I have seen a few videos and it seems like the ZAGG HD Screen Protector is a good way to protect the screen and enjoy the retina display. Does anyone have another opinion?
For cases: I was thinking of this case: Besdata Ultra Thin Magnetic Smart Cover & Back (http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00CB7QGGM/ref=oh_details_o00__i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) Does anyone recommend it? I also thought of getting a case to cover the back and pairing that up with the Apple Smart Cover .. Does anyone recommend doing that and can anyone recommend back covers?
Sorry for all the questions but I want to have this iPad perfectly set up as a surprise for my parents this Friday.
    Thanks in advance.

I also thought of getting a case to cover the back and pairing that up with the Apple Smart Cover
Why not get the Smart Case, a case and cover in one? And with a cover, you don't really need a screen protector. Well, at least I don't.

  • Need a silicone case with screen protector for Zen Mi

Anyone seen a silicone case like the ones on ebay for the zen micro, but one that has a screen protector like the iSkins do? I need a case, the vaja are way too expensi've and I don't want anything bulky like the leather cases I've seen.

One more option: I have read and seen all of the case posts and had decided on the pdaen leather belt pouch, because it has a flip over snapable face protection with total accessability otherwise. Then I was working outside one day and it was raining slightly so I started using small plastic bags--ziplock and another which is like the bag at the grocery store that you put your produce in. I make a tiny incision for the jack and either tie or zip the open end. This works so well that I am no longer looking for a bag of any kind. It keeps out the dirt and more importantly, moisture, and it gives me exactly the same access as I had before I wrapped it-- touchpad and all. Not at all stylish, I know, just practical and functional.

  • 5800 case and screen protector

I bought my 5800 a week ago to use as a music/media device in addition to my n85. The 5800 came wit a nokia branded caseand the 5800 has a thinly striped screen protector on it. I have found that i can listen to my music whilst the phone is in the case without it affecting or muffling the sound. Great construction/invention there nokia.  The screen protector does have a cut-out for the sensor and the front camera usage.  Funnily enough i cannot actually feel the lines on the screen protector via my finger but i can if i use my nail or any of the provided stylus. Anyways, i digress. Can i keep this protector on the phone or will the ridges that are within the screen protector affect my phone's screen ie making scratches on the screen via my use either by the back of my nail or the stylus' and does anyone else have the problem i do that the screen doesnt seen particularly finger friendly to my touch, it likes to sit their looking at me or is it a case of my touch being too light? And is it easier to use for the majority of you with the tactile vibrate on or off? I have it on at the moment as i cant recognise whether  my touch has actually been recognised or not and lastly does anyone know if there is any rhyme or reason that would tell me when a menu or option requires two clicks or one. Its driving me mad. I wish it were all one way or all the other way.  I am running v20 by the way and looking forward to a version that has a faster ui recognition of my touch.  Many thanks.

I took mine off straight away might replace it with a protector from Martin Fields.
And i don't use the case either as i've heard from others that it can scratch rim around the screen.

  • Sport case for iPhone 4 that won't strip screen protector

I have a Zagg screen protector on my iPhone 4 and have tried it with a few different sport cases (the kind that yuou strap to your arm while you jog) but the one's I've used have a soft, clear plastic front. What I've found is that after an hour of excercise (with heat, mosisture, etc.) the case will almost always peel off the screen protector. Does anyone know of a sport case that is built differently that won't do that?
    Thanks in advance.

The real question is, protects the screen from what...? I've carried iPhones in my pocket since the first model and have never notices scratches. If you just don't want the glass touching at tabletop or other surface, then something as simple as the Bumpers that Apple sells will do the trick just fine. If you're really worried about scratches, you can apply a screen protector to the front (and back) to ensure nothing actually touches it. If you're worried about breakage... well, it's glass... anything you put between the glass and the outside world that can actually make a difference will make it impossible to use. If it falls face down on a stone, it will probably crack.

  • Best Case & Screen Protector for Early 2013 MacBook Pro 13" w/ Retina Display

    Hi All,
My question is captured in my Discussion Title - I'm simply trying to find out which cases and screen protectors works/fits best for the Early 2013 MacBook Pro computer?
    I appreciate your input,

I would think if you are going to run both of those programs at the same time, or even one at a time, a system with discrete graphic would be a better fit for you.
The next question is if you are doing web design do you really need a retina display. At this time only apple has them so everyother computer viewing your web designs wouldn't see the difference, if there is any to begin with.

  • Case, Screen Protector, or both

What are you guys using on your new iphones?  Not sure what I'm going to do yet...  I am iffy on screen protectors because I think they take away the natural feel of the phone... whats the best screen protector out there that actually looks invisible and you can't notice it when touching the phone.

case for sure...I let mine fall off my knee yesterday LOL like to have freaked out  esp when I realized what it was ...it fell face first... The lip, as small as it is, on case kept screen from making contact with hardwood floor. .. My cousin had a htc aria do the same thing and shattered the glass without the case. Different phones but glass is really glass no matter how you bend it..IMO
screen protectors??? I guess it depends on where you carry your phone, more then anything. Me in an empty pocket,,,But I will give the bodyguardz dry apply a run. I have found my keys in my pocket before.  I ordered just the front glass protector. Bodyguardz dry apply seem to get good reviews every where I was looking???
