Case replacement J110

Hi well i got a prob my case got damaged and so i thought i would just replace the case.
i disconnected all leads and removed all parts and got a case.
when i went to connect lead in new case i found that the leads to the F_Panel connector on the mainboard did not show where the power sw, HDD led, power led and reset sw go.
have looked on the site and only found limited info on this.
any help please
p.s i dont have the old case any more

Apple definitely will not replace the case for free because this was user-induced damage. The repair will mostly likely be costly from Apple. You may be better off looking around for other repair shops that will probably be cheaper.

  • Can I get the white shell case replaced?

I purchased the regular Macbook in 2010, and am wondering if it's possible to get the white shell case replaced?  It's been through some wear, and since my Macbook is working just fine (knock on wood) I would like to just clean up the case cosmetically.  Is this a possible option?  There is also a small crack coming from one of the corners of the touch pad that I don't believe is causing any problems, but is just a cosemtic issue with me.
Also - does anyone know where there are options to purchase a cover for this Macbook?  I haven't found anywhere that I can buy a cover for this Macbook, they're all for the newer ones.  I even checked Amazon and eBay.
    Thanks!

yes i got the phone through at&t and no we are calling them tomorow!

  • Hi, I am from Mauritius and I can't find my country for the MacBook Bottom Case Replacement Program and hence, can't order the kit. What can I do?

Hi, I am from Mauritius and I my country is not in the list for the MacBook Bottom Case Replacement Program and hence, can't order the kit.
    What can I do?
    Thank you beforehand.

There may be an authorized Apple service provider who can handle the matter
of obtaining a replacement bottom part to the computer in question and also do
the necessary labor, if your unit qualifies for the program...
Did you see this section (Apple - Find Locations) and choose your country
then enter City and Product information to find authorized service provider
for your Mac portable, as supported by an independent local business?
    There are three categories, not all may be available across your country;
    Sales, Service, and Consulting.
    •Apple - Find Locations - Argentina:
    https://locate.apple.com/ar/es/
Another selector to try for service & support options appears through this link:
    https://getsupport.apple.com/SASOLocaleAction.action
The first one above tends to list any authorized retail repair & sales business
that provides product, service, sales, and repair in the area. With contact info.
    In any event...

  • Apple refuses to accept my serial number for the MacBook Bottom Case Replacement Program?

I bought my MacBook in September of 2011, but was told it was an early 2011 model. Just a little while ago, one of the rubber feet on the bottom fell off. Then another one. I decided against going with knock-off rubber feet in case they damaged the computer ($1800+ is just a little too much to spend on a computer just to ruin it with a $2 piece of junk). I've been trying since they fell off to talk to someone about it. I went to Future Shop and they tried to charge me for it. I went to The Source, and they had no idea what I was talking about. I would rather not go near Walmart with this. They are, unfortunately, pretty much the only stores available to me that deal with Apple products in some way. A friend of mine told me the other day about the MBCRP, and I decided to try that out. I get until it tells me to enter my serial number, and then it refuses to accept it. "We're sorry, the serial number you have entered is not valid. Please try again." Is this because Apple considers my computer not a part of the replacement program or am I doing something wrong?

  • Extended warranty for a cracked bottom case replacement?

I just heard from my friend who has a white macbook. Apple extends the bottom case warranty up to 3 years, so he got the free replacement on this May. I googled it but there were not solid answer. Have you guys heard about the warranty thing?
    Thanks.

Are you talking about the portion of the computer with the keyboard/trackpad? If so, most of the folks who've had the issue have reported getting the part replaced (including myself). Take the computer to an Apple store and see if the folks there can help you.

  • MacBook Pro 2.4Ghz A1260 won't boot after case replaced

    Hi,
    I have a early 2008 MacBook Pro 2.4Ghz(A1260) model.
It had some blemishes on the cover for normal use and I decided to replace the bottom and back cover case.
After hours of work to put everything together just as it would be from the factory, no missing screws what not, the laptop won't boot at all.
I can hear the sound of hard disk, but the led light on the power button does not lit on nor there is anything on the LCD display. No usual boot sound.
I tried to reset the SMC by pressing power button for few seconds after removing all the power sources but nothing works.
The laptop worked until this morning without any problems.
    Please help.
    Thank you very much.
    Regards,
    Robert

Who replaced the case? It sounds like it is a self-inflicted hardware-related issue.

  • Is the frame around the screen (where the bezel is located) included in the Macbook case replacement program?

I have had to have the top case on my macbook (white) replaced may times as I'm sure most of the owner of that paticular macbook have had to do. In the past I have experienced cracks on the handrest/keyboard portion of the case, but this time I have a crack where the bezel is right above the screen. Will Apple replace that frame for free also?

  • Getting the top case replaced

I noticed that I have a dent in the top case. What does it cost to have this replaced? I have a 2010 13" MBP.

  • Why is my computer unbelievably slow after getting the top case replaced?

I got it replaced recently as the keyboard and trackpad didn't work and now it's the rainbow wheel of death if I'm lucky, or just freezes. Either way, I have to restart with the power button in the corner at least once an hour. I know I have had it for years, but it's worked perfect (until I spilled tea on my keyboard and that and the left side of the trackpad broke) and even then, it was still as fast as can be, even though only the right clicker on the trackpad worked. It took fifteen minutes to just load this page and type (it kept freezing/jamming). Not only the price was double what it was supposed to be for some reason, but now this. Is there anything I can do?
Thank you and have a nice day.

Take it back to where it was repaired and let them fix it.

  • I had the bottom case of my MacbookPro replaced and now I can't print help?

Hi I had the bottom case to my Macbook Pro 2.33 Ghz intel core 2 duo replaced. Prior to this the machine worked perfectly. Now it can't connect to the internet using DHCP and it won't print either over the internet or with the printer plugged in directly. I can connect over airport to the internet if I manually put in the IPv4 address, the Subnet mask and the Router address. These are the only things I have found (so far) that are affected. I dowloaded and reinstalled the printer driver and it still doesn't work. Any ideas as to what they have done to my machine ?
    Thanks

When the ethernet cable is plugged in it does show as plugged in. The interesting thing is that the self assigned IP and Subnet mask address is the same as the self assigned IP and Subnet mask address is for Airport and they don't work. I have to manually enter them and the router address in order to go on the internet. There are 4 other computers using this network and no other computer on the network is having this issue nor did this laptop prior to the bottom case replacement, so I don't think it is the router modem or airport extreme base station.
    It shows:
    IPv4 address: 169.254.197.177
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0
These numbers are quite off from what they should be. Also this doesn't show a router address and it should.

I had once got it replaced for free but in warranty. As i read some where in the support that apple had agreed with the defect and had decided to replace the bottom covers without any charge. And even if i'm charged for it what will be the amount  will hav to pay for it..
    Thankx

    Hi,
Here's the Bottom Case Replacement Link
    http://www.apple.com/support/macbook-bottomcase/
It doesn't answer your specific questions about cost... but it does advise to contact an Apple Store or an AASP...
Anyway have a look at it... if you haven't already..

  • Top case got replaced; battery doesn't last as long as the old one

My rMBP mid 2012 had a problem with the trackpad so I got the top case replaced, since the warraty was expired and I was stupid enoght not buy the apple care, It cost me around $650 USD, got it back last tuesday, everything seems to work fine except for the battery, it doesn't last as long as the old one, wich is kinda of wierd since the old one was around one and a half years old, should I consider taking it back to the Apple Premiun Reseller where I got it fixed? how common are these issues? Finally I read on reddit that I can ship my laptop to an official Apple store/service and got it diagnose or fixed? Is it worth it? I read that some folks got it exchange for a new one, the conditions of my laptop are pretty good, I have taken extreme good care of it, but some problems still arise, it has a couple of white stuck pixels in the display besides the problems that I already mentioned already.
    Cheers!

I have the MacBook Air 11' and on http://apple.com it says the battery is supposed to last 9 hours.
    Did you read carefully?
Note the words 'up to' not 'will' last 9 hours.  Apple makes these measurements based on very minimal resource intensive applications.  My experience that battery run time is much less than these unrealistic advertising claims.  Battery run time will be a function of the number and types of applications that are in use.
    Try a SMC reset:

    That may improve things somewhat.

  • Replacing the case

    Hi,
Sadly, a few months ago, my Mac suffered a little damage which wasn't caused by me which makes it really annoying and the more annoying thing was that I have no warranty on it. The basic one year protection is now over and due to lack of funds, I can't afford the 3 year protection.
So now my Mac has a few scratches on the bottom and I was curious just to how much it would cost for me to get the very bottom case and the track pad case replaced. Nothing inside, just the outer casing. Since I don't really live anywhere near an apple store, I can't go and ask them myself so I'm hoping someone else might know.
    Thanks.

I'm afraid it is not cheap, luke.

  • MacBook Pro Unibody 17" replacement case

I found some scratches on my case (the bottom one, where the keyboard is etc.), thinking about getting a replacement. Obviously I'd have to pay for it - does anyone have any idea how much would it cost me?
I've done a bit of research, some companies appear to sell those for $300, which is roughly the equivalent of £180. Not sure what's the Apple policy on the replacement parts here, though, and I'm afraid they might charge me the equivalent of £300 - for some odd reason Apple does like to have different prices for stuff here and in the US.
Have an appointment with a Genius at Apple Store on Tuesday, but just have been wondering - maybe someone here could help me out with that?
    Thanks

The big question is: what is it worth to you to have the case replaced, and the scratches gone?
I don't have any particular limit set. I'm curious at the moment as to what the price is. I want to know how much will someone want me to pay up, and then I'm gonna consider - having it done now, having it done in 1/2/3/6 months' time (when most likely more scratches turn up), or not having it done at all. And living with it, 'cause probably after a replacement, new scratches would turn up anyway, as time (and use) would have gone by.
