Casio Commando....Yes, I'd like to hang up on myself now....not!

I am having a big problem with my Casio Commando screen turning on during a phone call.  I have become a skilled technician at hanging up on myself.  The problem seems to happen most when I am moving around, or walking as the ambient light changes where ever I move.  The problem is most prevalent when walking outside and moving between shaded areas and bright sun areas.
It is absolutely ridiculous how many times I have hung up on myself, accidentally turned on speaker or mute, hit numbers during the call, etc.   I am not the only person having this problem.  On my account, there are 4 of these Commando's and ALL of us are experiencing this.
I have tried hitting the power button on the side of the phone when I walk into a bright sunlit area, but it still hangs up the call.....all the time.  I have tried everything I possibly know, short of not moving at all during a call.
What is the fix for this?  Who else is having this problem?
Thanks in advance!

    Hello Matt181,
That's not good! We know how important it is to have a properly working device at all times. Does the device have a screen protector or case? This may be interfering with the function of the proximity sensor. If you are using a screen protector or case please remove and retest.
Please also note: When the phone application is open, the proximity sensor is enabled. When the phone application is in the background and you are in the notification panel, on the home screen, or in any other application, the proximity sensor is disabled.
Thanks,

    Hi mattt181,
I understand your discontent; I would be frustrated if my calls were terminated randomly. As noted by Ann154 (Thanks), the latest software version (which you have already) specifically addressed a Proximity Sensor issue and you should not experience issues with this sensor. Please keep in mind that whenever a software update is developed some changes will take effect also on the phone's screen appearance and the icons size change noted in your post is normal.
Do you have a clear screen protector on your phone? I have seen cases where removing such protectors resolve issues like the ones outlined in your post.
Since using the Power Key to lock the touch screen does not seem to resolve the issue you may qualify for a Certified Like New Replacement of the same model if under the one year manufacturer's warranty, please visit this LINK for replacement process details.

  • Casio Commando issue with Windows 7

My stepfather just got a Casio Commando and is having trouble accessing his MicroSD card from Windows 7
I have used many other Android devices in the past (my Eris included) and have never had an issue accessing the MicroSD card from a computer (though I have never used them on Win7, only Vista and earlier, and on OS X, mostly on XP and OS X 10.5)
When we tried connecting it, instead of getting a USB mode selection option in the pull down menu, nothing happens, the phone doesn't seem to notice that it is even connected to anything (doesn't even charge), when Win7 notices the Commando connected, it asks to install a driver (I think it said C117 or something like that) and says that it can't find one on Windows Update
When looking online, I was able to find the C117 driver, but upon installing it, all that it would do was allow the phone to charge, the phone still didn't seem to notice it was connected to a computer
I tried it on my Macbook as well and it seems to work fine, just doesn't seem to work on Win7, is there some sort of incompatibility between the Android OS or the Casio Commando and Win7?  If not, is there any reason why Win7 won't see the MicroSD card as a "Mass Storage Device"?

I have the issue as well and we SHOULD be able to expect a fix for transferring files via USB.  At work my network is secure thus I can not use the network transfer listed below.  At home this is fine (have not tested yet) but when I have work photos I need to be able to connect via USB (like my other work phones do) and transfer the files.  I contacted Casio and they stated their support agreement with Verizon did not cover phones.  So no I hope Verizon will get to work on this.  I have also e-mail customer support.
Below is my e-mail to Casio where they denied me support.  Hopefully things go better with VZW support.

    Thank you for contacting Casio

  • Casio Commando 4g Pictures from SD Card and Google not showing in Gallery!

Hello everyone it's been a while!
So I've had a couple of these shiny new Commandos and guess what?!? They've got issues :-/
Here's my gripe, let see if the community is better help than Verizon Support and/or Casio Support. I picked up a new Commando on July 3rd and installed a 16gb SD Card. I used the device for 5 days then returned it ( long story ). I removed my SD Card with all my stuff on it. On July 17th I got another New Commando, installed my SD Card, annnnnnnnnnnd my photos are not showing in the Gallery......
Now if I install Astro File Manager and look at the SD Card guess what? All the photos are there..
So why won't this device add these photos to my Gallery?
Also related to the Gallery: Why aren't my Google Photos showing up either? Yes I've got Sync Google Photos turned on in the settings.
    Thanks, Gary

Okay, some ideas for the Gallery.  With each one check the Gallery app to see if it work before going to the next idea.
Reboot the phone to force the phone to rescan the card at booting.
In Settings > Storage unmount the SD card and then remount it.  This will also force the phone to rescan the SD card.
In the Settings > Apps > all scroll down to Gallery and select it.  Clear the cache and data.  This will force the phone to rebuild the gallery folders.
Turn off the phone and remove the SD card.  With a card reader, copy the entire contents of the SD card to a temp folder on a computer.  Properly disconnect the SD card from the computer and put it back into the phone.  From the Settings > Storage format the SD card in the phone.  Then using the method you prefer either the card reader or connect the phone to the computer via USB cable copy the contents of that temp folder back on to the SD card.  Disconnect the phone or the SD card from the computer properly and let the phone prepare the SD card (rescan it) and see if the folders show up.
As for the Google sync for photos, my Tbolt has drop down menu in the gallery app to select and view the Picasa web albums.  I wonder if the Casio Commando has something similar. I haven't chance to go through the full user manual yet to see if there is more information on syncing web albums.
    Hopefully some this helps.

  • Any chance of PTT coming to the Casio Commando?

This is a question directly for Verizon... (I know about Tikl but that won't PTT with any of the other Verizon PTT phones)
I have a Commando, I really like it but I do miss the PTT I had on my BB Bold.  I know that the feature was added after the fact to the Blackberries.
Are there any plans to incorporate PTT in a future software release?  Seems like the Commando's target audience is the same audience that was using the other business type phones that had PTT.
Not a deal killer and I knew beforehand, but it would be nice...

At this time we do not have any communication about the Casio Commando getting the Push to Talk feature. However we will be happy to submit your feedback to our Marketing Team for review and consideration.

  • Casio Commando wi-fi disconnect solved with static IP

I have had continuous trouble with my 1 month old Casio Commando C771 (Android 2.3.3) disconnecting from my home wi-fi network.  The issue would come and go with no consistent reason.
The phone shows and remembers the home wifi network info and shows the SSID in the list of many others nearby.  It properly tries to connect and says "obtaining IP address...".  Then is says "disconnected".  My router logs always show "Wireless system with Mac address xxxxxxxx disassociate reason 1".  "Reason 1" seems arbitrary and I cannot find out what the error code means.
    Network info:
    WPA2 PSK security
    IPv6 enabled
    MAC address filtering
    D-Link DIR-615 wireless router
As far as the router goes I believe it is good.  I can connect 4 other wired and wireless devices without trouble.  Only the phone has issues.
After spending 2 very long calls with verizon tech support nothing was resolved.  First time they had me "hard reset" the phone by pulling out the battery while it was on.  That got the phone and wifi to connect.  (Not a good long term solution in my view)  But the next day it would not connect.   Second time they had me do a *228 roaming update and this magically fixed the issue at that moment.  But the next day the Commando went back to refusing to connect to my network.
I tried reducing the length of the PSK password, turning off IPv6, broadcasting and not broadcasting my SSID, rebooting the router, turning MAC address filtering  on and off, even using an open connection with zero security.  Nothing worked as a permanent fix.
Sometimes the phone would connect after I messed around with one of the above settings and sometimes it would not.  Sometimes my phone would just magically connect to the network with no trouble.
To see if DNS was an issue I removed all other devices from the network so the phone would be the only IP address assigned.  Once that did work and I then connected my other devices to wifi again and everyone was happy.  Then later the phone was disconnected.  So to me it did not appear the IP's and DNS were the issue.
But just to see I disabled DNS on the router and gave static IP's to all devices.  BAM! like magic the phone connects every time with a static IP.
I hope this helps someone else.  If anyone has a better solution please let me know.

I am not using a static external IP with my ISP.  Mine does not allow that either for home accounts.  I set static addresses for my internal network of devices.  Check your router to see if there is an option to set DHCP "reservations".  Your external IP provided by your ISP to connect to the internet is not effected.

  • Casio Commando - No POP3 email settings

My personal POP3 email account stopped working on my Casio Commando about 3 weeks ago. I have since deleted the account from the phone and when I went to add it back on, there are no POP3 email account settings. When I open Settings/Accounts, then "Add account", my choices are only, Corporate, Facebook, Backup Assistant, Cloud and Google. I have already force closed the email app, and when I click on it, the choices are Microsoft Exchange, Yahoo, Windows Live Hotmail, AOL, Gmail, Verizon.net, and Other. When I open "Other", it is asking for a user name and password, but there is no place for the account settings. Am I missing something, or is my phone?

More like the application on the phone. http://www.verizonwireless.com/support/information/mobile-email-app-discontinued.html

  • Re: Connecting Casio Commando to my computer

UPDATE:  After 3 calls to Casio, I logged a request for them to release the Windows 7 driver for the C811 Commando.  Called Verizon to complain.. a Verizon tech said the driver does exist and gave me a URL to a 3rd party website.  There I found the driver for the Casio Commando 7xx phone.  Downloaded it skeptically.  Installed it.  It is in fact a Casio driver, but after installation IT DOES NOT WORK WITH THE C811.

  • Casio Commando - camera to SD card

Branched from - Casio Commando - getting camera to save to SD card
My Commando does the same thing and I have looked everywhere on this phone and in the manual where to move pics to the SD card, or to save future pics to the SD card.
As an example.....I have "Manage Apps" open right now.  Used memory 334mb, and 66mb free.  IF I start deleting pics from my camera gallery, I can get the first # to go down, the second # to go up.    I just looked in Settings....available space on SD card, 6.67GB.  Available internal phone storage....57.85MB.
Anyone know how to free up memory so this phone does not BOG down so much?   This really has a major performance affect on the phone.
Verizon has left us Commando owners out in the cold and said tough sheet, you bought it, you own it.  Shame on Verizon and Casio for not fixing the KNOWN issues with this phone.

Still looking for the answer how to free up some internal memory and move pics to the virtually unused SD card.  TIA

My MacBook Air running on Snow Leopard gets extremely slow (almost like a hang, except if you wait about half an hr, it actually moves) after login interface. Sometimes it never gets past the background of the homepage, desktop doesn't seem to load. After multiple forced shut downs and left to run for hours, sometimes the desktop loads but the dock does not respond when applications are opened. The computer is then unable to shut down normally. Forced shut downs are necessary most times. Time machine backup takes extremely long, and attempts to use the time machine to bring the laptop back to the time befiore the problem arose was met with extremely slow and hung time machine function.
    Please help!

There isn't much besides a failing hard drive or other hardware fault that can cause those symptoms. Run the Apple Hardware Test, or just take it to an Apple Store for testing.

  • Casio Commando - Battery draining in 3 hrs.

I just got an Casio Commando for my wife and the battery drains very quickly.
When I check to see what's using the power I see that the "Dialer" is using about 47% while the Android OS is using about 46%.  Any suggestions on how to remedy this?
    Thanks
    Pete

I have the same problem. I had the original model of Casio Commando, and this past year upgraded to the 4gLTE model.  The 4GLTE phone worked normally until around a month ago when the battery started draining alarmingly quickly for no apparent reason.  I have reset to factory defaults twice and carefully added my apps back and it looked OK.  Then, the other day, it started again.  The phone is warm in my pocket--that is an indicator to me that the problem is back. I have uninstalled apps, disabled built in apps I don't use, made sure every unused radio is off. The only thing that stops the drain is if I turn Mobile data off (the up and down arrow symbol). Today I looked on vzw.com and saw that I am not half way through the billing cycle and I have use just over 50% of the data (1GB).  I normally don't use 1GB for the whole month.  When I factory reset the phone, I used wifi to reinstall and resync everything, so that isn't the reason.  I have tried the Upgrade assistant and the Repair assistant.  The upgrade assistant says there are no updates.  The repair assistant says their is a repair, I apply it, the it still says there is a repair available.   I've put a lot of time into this problem and it is starting to make be grumpy.

  • Whenever I shift my camera from rear to front, it start's hanging. the front camera seems not to work. I have tried resetting it but still the same.

Help! My front camera hangs whenever i'm using it.

Yeah, those of us who use macs for paid work must wait until our 3rd-party software vendors upgrade before we can upgrade.  There are only two ways to solve this problem,
If Apple were to stop actively sabotaging their customers' work; or
if I were to migrate my employer to Windows.
Only the second option is even marginally within my control...
(Keeping my employer on os x is getting harder and harder as Apple drives the 3rd-party software developers out of the market, and breaks the software of the dwindling customers -- end users and 3rd-party developers -- who remain.)
Anyway, thanks for the pointers.  I am going to see if I can track down iPhoto 9 on one of the mavericks machines I set up last fall.

I want to pass along a couple of tips that will get you more and better response on this list.
    1) There is an un-written rule that says more "stars" is better than just one star. Giving a one star rating will probably eliminate that responder from individuals that are willing to anser your question.
    2) If someone gives you an answer that meets your needs, reply to that answer and say that it worked.
    3) If someone suggests that you look at an example, DO IT! LV comes with a wonderful set of examples that demonstate almost all of the core functionality of LV. Familiarity with all of the LV examples will get you through about 80% of the Certified LabVIEW Developer exam.
    4) If you have a question first search the examples for something tha
t may help you. If you can not find an example that is exactly what you want, find one that is close and post a question along the lines of "I want to do something similar to example X, how can I modify it to do Y".
    5) Some of the greatest LabVIEW minds offer there services and advice for free on this exchange. If you treat them good, they can get you through almost every challenge that can be encountered in LV.
    6) If English is not your native language, post your question in the language you favor. There is probably someone around that can help. "We're big, we're bad, we're international!"
