Casio Exilim EX-S600 digital camera import and playback issues

When importing the mpeg4 video (.AVI files) from my Casio Exilim EX-S600 digital camera with plug in version 1.1 and iMovie HD 6.0.1 I consistently get an unknown error. I use the HQ setting on the camera. Quicktime will play the movies though sometimes they stutter, if you pause, and then resume it seems to playback better. Strange to say the least. Any tips on how I can edit these clips? And get better playback performance in Quicktime? Thanks in advance!

  • ITunes 10.5.3 has import and playback issues

I cannot add some MP3 to my library using iTunes 10.5.3 software version, but can using earlier software versions. Also some tunes already in my iTunes libabry no longer play in 10.5.3. This seems to be related to some tag information that does not carry across into 10.5.3 because the tunes in my library that dont play do not have the cover artwork as the icon but just the quaver icon. This is annoying! Please someone fix!

I am having same problem. I want to to take a music video from the Movies Library and export it into the Music Video Playlist at bottom of sidebar. The only thing I can do is to create another playlist. Why cant  I put them directly into the Music Video Playlist provided by Apple? I also tried exporting from desk top and directly import into the Music Video Playlist but it will not allow this, so I am forced to import everything into one of the Itunes Libraries located at the top of Sidebar. • Another AVI Question - Casio Exilim Ex-S600 - Divx

Folks thanks for taking the time to help me out here. I am a brand new apple user, I just got my MacBook about a week ago.
My camera is a Casio Exilim Ex-S600 and in some reading it appears to take videos in DIVX MPEG4 based on a few quick searches.
I have read a little about installing the DIVX codec and little about the VLC player. I am trying to get some recommendations here. My goal would be to edit these files in iMOVIE and play them in QT. What is the native format for iMovie. The idea of having to get a windows machine to convert these is disturbing.
Am I making this more difficult then it actually is?

Are you recommending I install DIVX?
That or possibly the free Perian codec package. Wouldn't hurt for conversion by applications which rely on installed QT components but it won't help as far as iMovie '08 is concerned since neither the encode nor decode component will be avaiable from within iMovie '08. (I.e., it can be used for conversions by iMovie '06, QT Pro, GarageBand, or even MPEG Streamclip but you will still have to convert externally to iMovie '08 before importing.)
What about a app that would simply convert the files on a Mac.
I tend to use MPEG Streamclip for most conversions which relies on the QT "structure" embedded in the Mac OS since v7 was released (as well as whatever QT components you have installed to include WMV and DivX). You could also try FFmpegX or Visual Hub which I believe rely on on their own decoders but I'm not sure whether or not they handle all proprietary DivX formats.

  • Digital camera raw 3.2 issue with Canon 1000d

    Hi all,
When I install the digital camera raw 3.2 update, Aperture 3 (3.0.3) gives me the indication to reprocess all master files. After that my images become darker and the colours like red, orange and skin tones become very saturated and strange compared with the previous version.
To solve this problem I revert to the previous version of digital camera raw and everything is ok now.
Follow the tip in the link above. http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=11148487&#11148487
My English isn’t very good, however my experience could save some troubles and time to other users.

You need to reprocess them in Aperture. Ap3 has a better more advanced raw processor/converter than ap2 It is far superior and the first thing i noticed on ap3. Try on an image you thought was at it's best and could not be improved. I will be surprised if you can not make it better in ap3.
My suggestion is to process them one at a time, before you want to make some image adjustments.

  • Digital Camera Import

I have alot of problems importing things from my digital camera. It is a Kodak Easy-Share C633. I usually use Iphoto to import whats on it. It doesn't let me choose what I want to import though. I have to import it all if i want to get anything on my computer. That isn't the biggest problem though. Sometimes and lately it doesn't like to import anything. I'd like to know if there is a recommended software for macs to import things from a digital camera. Or if I have to get a different camera.

What version of iPhoto do you have. Later versions certainly do allow this.
I'd like to know if there is a recommended software for macs to import things from a digital camera.
iPhoto or Image Capture (in your Applications Folder).

Pop the Card from the Camera into a USB Card Reader. Other reasons to use a Card Reader:
Because it’s safer: Less risk of your images being lost if your camera shuts down during transfer.
Because it saves the battery on your camera
Because it saves wear and tear on your camera ports
    Because it’s almost always faster.

  • Growing file import and refresh issues

    1) With files generated by our own MOV/op1a writers, we get different results with different wappers, different OS platforms and versions, and different storage filesystems, both using CC 7.1 and CS6.05
Quicktime files on the Mac, OS 10.7.5 to a Samba share: refresh will only work by putting Premiere into the background then bringing it to the foreground to force the update.
Quicktime files (any codec) on a win7 PC writing to an NTFS share: we get sporadic updates, although in about 98% of sessions, the file will update once or twice after import and then never again during that particular CC/CS6 session. Exiting the program, reopening it and loading the project again will update the duration.  After closing the file, the duration updates instantly in both CC/CS6
-- For Quicktime files, it seems like some sort of cache file is written that does not get updatedand premiere looks at this instead of polling the current state of the file.
op1a XDCAM - on PC at least we get a sharing violation when attempting to open, much as in this discussion on the Adobe Community Premiere site: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4746601
    op1a AVC-I not tested yet.
    2) With Adobe Media Encoder CC doing the writing, we get no joy whatsoever.  Only tested on win7/NTFS share
op1a XDCAM on import CS6/CC returns "file is open in another program" error.
op1a AVC-I on import CS6/CC returns "file is open in another program" error.
Quicktime (any codec) file import error or crash.
All types import correctly after the files are closed.
-- seems that the AME openfile() handle type is write-only, so Premiere can't open it for reading.
So...I guess my first question is, what growing file source has this feature been tested with, on which OS and storage filesystems?
There is virtually zero documentation and what little exists is very unspecific or contradictory...

    Ken,
There are numerous posts on this subject. Currently LR treats same name, different extension files as sidecars of each other. Check out the numeroues RAW + JPG posts for example.
Import your files into different folders and then move them into the folder you want for now.
Hopefully this behaviour will be changed in the forthcoming 1.1 release mentioned by Jeff Schewe et al.

  • Let's all contact Apple about CD imports and burning issues

While reading through the posts here, it appears that there are alot of us with issues dealing with iTunes and CD imports and CD burning. Even using Quicktime 7.1.3, I still cannot even play a CD track. I can use other applications to import music, but the bottom line is that iTunes should let us import CD tracks. It doesn't. If you are having problems with these slow CD imports, or CD burning with iTunes 7, then we all need to contact Apple. I suggest that instead of trying to find a workaround, lets all get Apple to correct their iTunes application. When you open iTunes, click on iTunes in the toolbar across the top of your monitor and scroll down to the line "Provide iTunes feedback" Fill out the questions and describe exactly what CD import/burning issues that you are having. We will not hear back from Apple individualy, but if we all start letting them know directly that there is an issue, maybe they will get the message and fix these problems. We all appear to be passionate about Apple and iTunes. Lets get these problems resolved. Okay?

I am having no problems. I did with my Ti667 when the optical drive died.
I am onto the latest version of iTunes and can report no problems for me.
Oppp......... my iTS country changes and I changed back and my account is in good order.

  • Rendering and playback issues

Hey guys, I'm sorry if this kind of topic has been discussed before, but I could not find any help with search. I don't really know how to describe my problem. I has After Effects CS4 first and when I first got it, it was giving me the same problem. I came here and got some help and everything worked fine after that, but now I upgraded to CS5 and I'm having problems again and I can't for the life of me remember what I did to fix the problem.
Here is what is going on. I'll uploaded a video that is an mpeg or AVCHD and while trying to preview it in anyway, it will only render some of it and then it will start depleting what has been rendered to render the rest of the clip. It is hard for me to explain. It just won't fully preview a clip as a whole.
Also, when I make a movie or finish a clip, they are coming out incredibly choppy. CS4 worked great on my computer, but I'm guessing I don't have the seeings perfect for CS5. I would go back to CS4, but I use AVCHD now and I'm scared CS4 will start having issues like CS5 is having.
    I have a Studio XPS 435MT
    Intel Core i7 2.67 ghz
    4gb of RAM
    ATI Radeon 4800
Do I just have on the wrong settings or something? Because like I said, CS4 was working without a problem for years. It was doing the same thing CS5 is doing now, but something I did fixed it and now I can't remember what it was.

Please state exactly what buttons you are pressing, what icons you are clicking, and what commands you're choosing. It's hard to help you to figure out what's going on when your description of what you're doing and seeing isn't clear.
My guess about your preview issue is that you're expecting either standard preview (spacebar play) or RAM preview to work differently than they do. For explanations of what these preview methods are and how to use them, start on this page and then read the pages that it links to: "FAQ: Why does RAM preview only play part of my composition?"
Regarding the stuttering of movies that you've rendered and exported: My guess is that you've just rendered and exported at the default settings, which create losslessly compressed movies, which are huge and are not intended for playback. (They're intended as intermediate files for additional post-production work.) Such huge files won't play back smoothly on a less powerful computer because the hard disk can't even serve the frames from the disk fast enough. The solution is to render and export using a codec that actually compresses the files significantly. You have to keep in mind the crucial difference between formats intended for playback and formats intended for intermediate files. See this thread for a somewhat more full explanation: http://forums.adobe.com/message/2958839#2958839
I recommend that you start here and work your way through the materials to get a good foundation in After Effects:

  • CS4 HDV Capture and playback issues

    Hey,
I am having trouble with HDV capture and playback on Prem Pro CS4. I tried all the steps mentioned on the article posted by Adobe, http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/405/kb405478.html
None of these steps have helped anything. I used the cleanup utility, re-installed everything and started from fresh and nothing happens. Capture is always out of sync, it ignores in and out points when batch capturing and playback is all jerky regardless of quality settings. The weird thing is, this only started happening out of the blue. I was using it on a project and it was fine. I hadn't used Prem Pro in a little while and then all these problems began. No change in hardware.
I am using Premiere Pro CS4 on Windows 7 and capturing HDV footage via firewire on a Sony Z7.
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks!

  • Working on iPad2, I can create new albums from digital camera imports in Photos; however, when the album is automatically imported into iPhoto, it has lost its custom photo or ding and replaced it with a chronological order. How do I reorder them?

Is there a way to preserve the album order and format when it moves from Photos to iPhoto for easy export sharing or advanced sideshow treatments? Can I create the albums on the iPad in iPhoto and format with custom photo ordering? Or do I have to carry and work in Mac?

This is normal and is how Apple handles photos.
    There are NOT duplicate photos.
Just as a song is in your itunes library and you can access that exact same song from a playlist,  all  photos synced to iphone are in the photo library and those exact same photos (NOT duplicates) can be accessed from the individual albums.
It is working exactly as it should.

  • Sony Digital Camera Import

How can I import digital movies from my Sony Handycam DCR-SR68?
    iPhoto will not recognize them.

    Greetings Dave,
How can I import digital movies from my Sony Handycam DCR-SR68?
iPhoto is an image management program. It's primary function is to import, store, and organize still images. While it does import movies from digital still cameras, it is not designed to import movie footage from a video camera (Two different types of devices. Still cameras and movie cameras). That is what iMovie is for.
Your Sony Handycam DCR-SR68 is on the supported camera list for iMovie so you should be able to import your footage into iMovie: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3290
Once the footage is off the camera and in iMovie, you can then export it out of iMovie and put it back in iPhoto (although I'm unclear why you would want to store movie footage in iPhoto. Of the two programs, iMovie is the best place to keep large amounts of movie data.)
    iPhoto will not recognize them.
Your camera records it's movie files in MPEG2 format. This format is not natively compatible with iPhoto as it is not usable by Quicktime (Which is what drives movie compatibility to some extent in iPhoto.) without additional software. The Quicktime manual lists the compatible formats: http://images.apple.com/quicktime/pdf/QuickTime7UserGuide.pdf (Page 9).
iMovie has a built in convertor that will convert those MPEG2 files into a usable format when you import directly from the camera into iMovie.
    Hope that information helps.

  • Camera import and Aspect ratio

    Hello everyone
I have a Panasonic video camera connected to iMovie via Firewire.
The issue is that the *movie was recorded 4:3 aspect*, but iMovie for some reasons *displays the preview and imports as if it were wide-screen* aspect. Therefore the movie is imported skewed. I can't find a video effect to over-ride this.
    Can anyone help?

    Hiya,
Thanks a lot but this doesn't seem to make a difference to the way it treats the actual import.
Do you have any more ideas?

  • Digital Cameras Connecting and Managing

Some cameras will not connect or mount. But easy solution is to use an APP like iPhoto or image capture software. Some you can only view photos or upload but not actually delete the pictures. But if this proves to be correct a simple answer id to take SD card out of camera and insert into the iMac slot near the Optical Dic Drive or into a card reader. Problems solved

After deleting aprox. 150 messages from Inbox and from Sent, both programs were able to download complete list of messages and PC Suite finally reenabled trash icon.
Seems like too much messages causes those program to fail? And why in the past they were working properly with bigger amount of messages?
Well.. one can say "problem solved" but will reappear again in the future with lots of messages. I need to remember to grab them from the phone more frequent.
