Casio Privia Keyboard and Garage Band

New mac and also unfamiliar with garage band. Came from Studio Session last night and the expert plugged in a keyboard. We are unable to replicate this at home. We used a usb device cable just as he did at the store, but the Mac does not recognize input from the keyboard. The keyboard is a Casio Previa.
Thanks

I had what sounds like the same problem with my new iMacG5 I tried everything I could think of and had several discussions with Apple support. Nothing worked until I went on the Yahama website and chat. Found my answer there.
Turned out that the interface was not the correct one although IT APPEARED TO BE. Here was my problem (please bear with me since I am a musician and not a techy). The M-Audio interface I was using had a midi in and out plug which connected to my Yamaha DGX 300 keyboard and a USB cable which connected to my computer. In roughly the middle of the cable was an oval shaped item which I assumed was the "guts that made it work". IT DIDN'T. The manufacturer failed to mention this interface will NOT work with iMac/Yamaha.
I then bought, from the same mfg. an interface that worked GREAT!. The new interface was similar but rather than the oval shaped item there was a more rectangular shaped item with connections attached to the in and out of the Yamaha. A totally separate cable which I had to purchase then plugged into the end of the interface and directly into the iMac.
Sorry I couldn't be briefer but wanted to be clear.

    Hey
I am having trouble connecting my Yamaha electric keyboard to garage band. I have the right cable, and it does recognize it. but when i play more than one note at a time it only lets one note sound, and creates a low humming noise. Any thoughtfull insights?
    thanks

  • Where do I find the fifties Sci-Fi keyboard in Garage Band?

I've seen the fifties Sci-Fi keyboard in the Garage Band demo during the keynote and it has been mentioned in many reviews, but I can't seem to find it in the keyboards on my iPad.  Is it an extra add-in?  Basically, where do I find the fifties Sci-Fi keyboard in Garage Band?

Instruments > Keyboard > (Tap the current instument) > Leads > Fifties Sci Fi (First page, first row, second from left)

Thanks for you reply.  I'm 99% positive that I'm using the user id and password that I used to set up my computer.  That's why I'm stumped.  I read the solution someone else suggested (type your user name without @gmail and create a new password.  When I tried it, I was asked for my birthday.  It didn't recognize it.  I know I got my birthday correct. Oh well...

  • Is iPhoto and iMovie and garage band on Lion reinstall thumb drive from Apple??

Is iphoto and imovie and garage Band On the Os x Lion reinstall thumb Drive Sold By Apple???

No.  iLife is a separate product that is bundled with the purchase of a new Mac, not the purchase of a new OS.
So, anyone with an older Mac would have pay for an upgrade to iLife in addition to paying for an upgrade to Lion.
On a positive note, you can now upgrade separate components in the App Store (i.e. iPhoto), instead of paying for the complete iLife suite

  • The Apple Store recommended wiping and reloading software on my Mac Mini yesterday.  In the process I lost iMovie, iPhoto and Garage Band.  How can I get them back?

I took my Mac Mini to the Apple store yesterday since I was having trouble with difficult to read text.  They recommended wiping the drive and reloading it.  I lost iMovie, iPhoto and Garage band in the process.  How can I get them back.  The App store says they are already installed.

What I missed was that I needed to select "Purchased" rather than using the normal listing of items.  Once I went to the purchased list I could easily download the various software.
Thank you all for your help.

  • No iLife, iPhoto and Garage Band on Mac OS X Lion?

I recently installed mac os x lion. Before that I had Snowlepord with all iLife,iPhoto and garage band app. Now on new lion OS I don't have any of those. Do I need to download them again ?

You shouldn't have lost any apps unless you did a fresh install and didn't have a backup.
Were they preloaded, via retail disc or did you purchase through the app store?
If preloaded, find the discs that came with your mac, those apps will be on the 2nd disc
For retail, find the DVD and reinstall
For the app store, go to the purchased tab and reload.

  • IMovie and Garage Band gone after Mountain Lion upgrade.

I upgraded my OS to Mountain Lion by buying it in the itunes store and uploading it.  Now, imovie and garage band are gone.  I have nothing in My Purchases, as these came with my mac when I bought it, and I don't think I have a cd.  Can I get these back without buying new?

As shldr said, iLife applications (iMovie, iPhoto, GarageBand, iDVD and iWeb) came preinstalled on your Mac, so if you made a clean install of Mac OS X, they were deleted because Mac OS X doesn't include iLife apps.
In order to install the iLife applications again, you need the Applications DVD that came with your Mac, so insert it and follow the steps to install your iLife applications. If you haven't got the DVD, call Apple to get replacement DVDs > http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57 After installing the applications, open Apple menu > Software Update to install the most recent version

  • Re: New Garage Band - I have Mac OS X 10.6.8, Snow Leopard, and Garage Band 11.  If I download/install the new GB, will I lose GB 11?  And will it run on Snow Leopard?

Re: New Garage Band - I have Mac OS X 10.6.8, Snow Leopard, and Garage Band 11.  If I download/install the new GB, will I lose GB 11?  And will it run on Snow Leopard?

then had to find out (same as with this issue) that I presently have other software that will not run on Maverics.
You could create a clone of your drive with all your current software, so you could continue to work with your Snowleopard software by booting from the clone, and upgrade your main system to Mavericks, if your computer supports Mavericks.    This way, you could have both, if the new features of Mavericks are interesting to you -  e.g-, iCloud syncing of multiple Macs, new sharing features, and for GarageBand automatic drummers and arpeggiators.

  • Where do i find iPhoto and Garage Band for OS 1.6.8

Where can i find iPhoto and Garage Band for OS 10.6.8?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
The latest iPhoto and GarageBand versions are not compatible with Snow Leopard, so you can't get them from the App Store.
Instead, you have to buy iLife '11 in a DVD at Amazon and install it. Then, open  > Software Update, and install the most recent version for Mac OS X Snow Leopard

  • 2011 iMac, OS X 10.7.5 Lion is missing iPhoto, iMovie, iMessage and Garage Band

I purchased a little used 2011 iMac last night. OS X 10.7.5 Lion is missing iPhoto, iMovie, iMessage and Garage Band, which according to this Apple page should be included Apps on iMacs: http://www.apple.com/imac/built-in-apps/
Lion Recovery also appears to be missing, as restarting while holding down the Command-R keys is not working after half a dozen tries.
How do I restore at least iPhoto, which I need and use daily?
I thought of buying and installing Mountain Lion, but near as I can tell from the Apple site, iPhoto is NOT included.
I DO have Snow Leopard discs from my old iMac and could revert so as to get back to work, but if the Lions can be made to purr, I'll stay and try to work out my minor quibbles.
    Thanks for your consideration,

    Thanks for the additional info!
Yes, those are the very arrows of which I speak. I happen to be using Firefox at present and took a screen shotshot of my basic desktop layout. Although "Dummy" widows are shown, they represent the esential windows I access frequently while doing other tasks.
At any time, one or more windows may be covered by others, but they are always "in their place" so that by clicking on upper corners they quickly appear. Note in particular the right side windows. Where I would click the corner to expose a partially hidden window, Lion chose to put the diagonal full screen arrows. Unless I'm VERY careful to click to either side of the arrows (and this extra care defeats the whole QUICKNESS factor), the window then opens FULL screen..., annnoying, unproductive and not at all useful to my work processes.
Hence my goal to send the arrows to their grave. Should I succeed, I'll continue going forward with new versions of OS X, and that would be my preference.
    Be well,
    Blandz

  • I lost IPHOTO and GARAGE BAND AND IVIDEO WHEN DOING A MASTER RESINSTALL, HOW DO I GET IT BACK

When doing a master reinstall after Mac Air as saying limited disk space I lots Iphoto, I video and Garage Band - I can not find a way to reinstall - pleae help -

I assume that by master reinstall you mean you erased the hard drive and then reinstalled the operating system. The programs will have to be redownloaded from the App store. If you bought the computer new it won't cost you anything to download them. If you purchased it used from a third party the programs belong to that person's Apple ID and you'll have to purchase them.

  • Since upgrading to Yosemite my iPhoto, iMovie and Garage band has simply disappeared from my Mac. HELP!?

Since upgrading to Yosemite my iPhoto, iMovie and Garage band has simply disappeared from my Mac. HELP!?

    Hi Jdireen,
As someone who uses the iLife applications on a daily basis on my Mac I can understand how it would be upsetting to have them disappear suddenly. Let's see if we can get you back up and running.
You can download the applications again and reinstall them from the Mac App Store -
    GarageBand - https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/garageband/id682658836?mt=12
    iMovie - https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/imovie/id408981434?mt=12
