As far as being able to change the IMEI, I'm sure if the person hacking the iPhone is good enough that it IS possible. However your every day thief would not be that good I am sure.
It might also be possible for you to track the device yourself if you had enabled Find My iPhone in Settings>iCloud.

Silver graph performance (apparent serious 2011 flaw)
I noticed that cpu usage was quite high for some VIs and ended up finding out with simple comparison benchmarks (using performance and memory test) that a VI with the new silver graph runs about 25 times slower than a vi with the old, uh, modern graph at default graph size. For a graph widened to cover a wide screen, it decreased to about 190 times slower, a horrible crawl. For the test I just generated random numbers put into a 2000 element 1D array to be graphed (couldn't attach the test VIs for some reason).
The silver graph looks nice, but what in the world is going on here?

I was having a bit of difficultly in getting crop settings to properly sync in Lightroom 5.7.1 (running on OS X 10.10.1) when Constrain to Warp was checked. This appears to be a bug in the latest version(s) of Lightroom that include(s) the GoPro Hero4 Silver Lens Profile settings. I'm working with a lot of files from a GoPro Hero4 Silver camera shot in the time-lapse / interval timer mode. All of them are horizontal with the same resolution (and dimensions). I've tried various sequences to get this to work in terms of using Auto-Sync, resetting the settings on all images except one and then copy and pasting settings, etc, though the crop is not properly syncing regardless of what I do.
Here's are instructions of how to duplicate this issue (there are some extra details/steps here, though this should be clear enough to produce the same result):
1. in the Develop settings for a single selected image, go to Lens Corrections, click to Enable Profile Corrections (in the Profile tab), and then pick the GoPro Hero4 Silver Edition (Adobe Profile) if it is not automatically chosen for you (if you are using files from a Hero4 Silver camera). After this, click on the Manual tab, and set the Scale setting to 76. (as you will see, you now have the full horizontal width of the image that was getting cropped off, though you do see white around the edges that have been warped/shaped to correct the fisheye distortion)
2. Press the R key (or click on the Crop Overlay tool just below the histogram). Change the Aspect option to Custom. Click to unlock the lock next to it (this seems to re-lock after setting to custom even if it was locked before). Place a checkmark next to the Constrain To Warp option. (At this point, you'll see the image gets cropped back to an approximately 4:3 ratio and the full horizontal width is not included in the cropped area) Click the upper right most corner of the crop area and drag as much to the right and top as it lets you go. Do the same for the lower left corner, dragging it as far to the bottom left as you can go. (Now, you will see that your cropped area is the maximum rectangular width and height you can select without getting any of the excessive white area) Click the Close button (or press R again) to leave the crop overlay tool.
3. Press G to go back to the grid of images. Make sure the image you just adjusted the settings for is the only one selected. Right click on it, go to Develop Settings, and click Copy Settings. Click Check All on the window that appears and then click Copy.
4. De-select the image you were working on. Select multiple other images in the grid. Right click on one of these, go to Develop Settings, and click Paste Settings. (at this point, you will see their aspect ratio has become more panoramic than the 4:3 aspect ratio the images previously were)
5. De-select these images. Select one of these image, and then press D to go to the Develop settings for this image. Press R to go to the Crop Overlay tool. Here you will see the bug where the crop was not properly copied over from the first image. The selected area is smaller than the full width and height available to crop.
It seems that the bug is that Lightroom is only copying the aspect ratio (and the other settings), but not the actual crop selection.
I just thought of a workaround that I've tested and can confirm works (and will also work in a slightly different workflow than above). In step 1 above, for the Model (and Profile), manually pick the "GoPro Hero4 Black Edition" or the "GoPro Hero3-Silver Edition". If using the "Hero3-Silver" setting, the Scale (also in step 1 above) need only be set to 79 (rather than 76 for the Hero4 profiles). By picking one of these Lens Profiles and doing everything else the same as the other steps above, the crop settings do copy and paste properly. This does also appear to work properly when selecting the "GoPro Hero3-White Edition" Lens Profile, with a Scale setting of 75, which yields a slightly more rectilinear image (with a wider aspect ratio -- almost, but not quite 16:9).
While this isn't too big of deal as it does work by picking one of the other lens profiles (and the Hero4 Black Edition profile appears to make the same exact correction to the image), this was incredibly frustrating last night to notice that some files had the proper horizontal field of view / crop and others didn't, and other users may experience this or not even notice their crop is not copied properly (as, depending on one's composition and image, it's not extremely obvious with such a wide view).
I hope this discovery helps someone else and provides feedback for Adobe to correct this issue in the next version of Lightroom 5.
On a separate, additional note for Adobe: Please allow the crop overlay tool to "crop" an image to a size that is larger than the original dimensions of the image. This would allow for one to retain maximum original sharpness in the center of the image when using the Lens Profile tool to correct, or "de-fish" a lens, without having to scale the image down with the Scale option on the Manual tab of the Lens Corrections settings. For example, when I do the above process selecting the Hero3-White Edition profile, my final image dimensions are 3840 by 2257 pixels, reducing the size of the image in the center by 25%. If the tool allowed one to crop/scale a larger image size, and I kept the Scale option of the Lens Corrections settings at 100 rather than 75, my final image dimensions would be 5120 by 3009 pixels (larger than the 4000 by 3000 pixel dimensions of the original image which the tool now limits me to). Yes, the edges would be a little softer but the center would retain the original detail. (this is essentially what the Calculate Optimal Size button found in the Hugin open source software does, when using it on a single image for lens transformations/corrections)Can you zip up a few of your GoPro images, upload them to dropbox.com and post a share link, here, so others can experiment with them, or do you mean this issue is global to all camera models?

If the light will not turn on the TC is dead. No matter that the hard disk is running.. it should only run at start up or when it is accessed not constantly.. that means the board in the TC has failed. Apple do not repair them.. They will replace it under warranty or applecare.
If you have gone over the 12month warranty it will still be covered if you have applecare on any computer or an Apple TV. In fact the cost of the apple TV plus apple care is still cheaper than buying a new TC.. so it is a route some people are taking.. certainly depends.. in some places like Europe or Australia now, there is a recognition that statutory warranty must be longer on a product that is premium to the market. 12months is not good enough. Apple will sometimes listen.
They might be fixable but I do not know how. -
We've had our silver vision box for over 2 years now. I was just wondering, what's the difference? I noticed the buttons of the box infront is different to the black one though the remote is still the same just in different colour (I think). Difference with the performance? Quality?

Installation of 27" cinema display with macbook pro silver key and bootcamp
For everyone out there who may be interested in using the new 27" cinema display with an older Macbook Pro Intel with silver keys and bootcamp.
What is needed:
1. Apple 27" cinema display.
2. Macbook pro Intel silver key model
3. Altona Dual Link DVI to Mini DisplayPort Converter (Model AT-DP400)
4. Bootcamp 3.1 drivers from Mac OSX Snow Leopard V10.6.3(retail)
Procedure:
1. Update your display software on the Mac OS side. Apple has posted an update on their software downloads page, "LED Cinema Display Software Update 1.0" After doing so, make sure that the 27" CinDisp is operating correctly and you can change the brightness from the system settings.
2. On the Windows side, install the bootcamp 3.1 drivers. These are on the Snow Leopard distribution CD. However, there is a bug in the .msi installer that causes the installation to go into an endless loop. This must be resolved during the installation of the drivers. The following article discribes how to do this:

3. After you have successfully installed the bootcamp 3.1 drivers, then install Apple's bootcamp update: "Apple Magic Trackpad and 27-inch LED Cinema Display Update for Windows 32 bit".
Good luck, it works!I have the same MBP and recently bought a 23" cinema display on Craigslist for $140. It works great. I had a display port to DVI adapter and it worked fine. Built a stand to hold the laptop vertically so it's out of the way. Don't know about older displays but anything with DVI should work fine.
The screen size and resolution are great for photo editing. I now have the best of both worlds, a display that rivals my wife's iMac and portability. -
So, I placed my order by 3:35 AM EST for my Silver 6 plus 128GB. All the way through the process, from selecting the phone to the submission confirmation screen on the web it stated delivery by 9/19. I received my email confirmation and that showed the order date as 9/12 and the delivery date as 9/12. Well I knew that would not be right.
So then I go online to check the order status and it states the order has been received and the expected SHIP date is 10/14. WHAT?!?
So I called Vz and spoke with a rep who stated that he wasn't sure why it showed that but my ship date would be 9/19. Call #1
Well that's fine, I knew he probably mixed those words up.
So then I check on 9/13 to see if it was updated online, still showed 10/14. So I call again and this time the Vz rep places me on hold then comes back and says I am sorry to say that your expected ship date is 10/14. Flustered and irritated I ask how that can happen and change from all the other notices stating the 19th (or sooner according to the email which she laughed about). Call #2
So today, I decide to check again after Noon EST and now all day it has said that the expected ship date is NOT AVAILABLE?
Checking this community, looking at tweets and posts I see all conflicting information, some people getting getting ship notices but most of those are just the 6 and not the plus.
Where can I find a straight answer. I have seen another poster state that anyone who completed their order the first couple hours of ordering on the 12th will definitely receive on the 19th according to what they have been told by a Vz rep but honestly with the mixed messages I have seen personally I am not putting a lot of faith in what was told to him.
OH, also I can only check my order by my preorder confirmation and not my order number. When trying to check with my order number it gives an error message saying that is not a valid number.

I called the online order team number (866) 338-7390 and have now been told that there are NO phones available of this specific model and have not been.
I was also told that when I preordered on VZW's website at 3:25 AM EST it stated that Delivery would be 10/14. Now I have proof(screenshot) of it saying 9/19 at the time I started my order AND when I completed my order. But that doesn't matter because again according to Vzw Supervisor at the number I called they do not have any and did not have any.
So I ask, did you order this specific model and did you order it after (or even at) 3:35 AM EST.
I was told however I can go to my local Vz store and try and purchase there on friday. NOW KEEP IN MIND, I was just told that Apple has not sent ANY Silver iPhone 6+ 128GB models to Vz at all and Vz does not expect them to be available until October.
So, what say you? I think the reason you're receiving yours on Friday is you are east coast whereas I am west coast. I think there was some truth to the Fifth Contact's response and that it also depends on the warehouse the order is coming from. My warehouse is more than likely different than yours and probably has a larger demand/smaller supply than your warehouse.
I live in Southern California, and my county alone has 3.1M people. The four surrounding counties have 10M people, 2.3M people, 2.1M people, and 3.2M people. iPhone is king out here as far as phones, so I'm chalking it up to supply/demand in my warehouse, and that my order was processed much later than many others in my area.
I'll check back on my order tomorrow and Thursday, but unless I have a notice that shows it going out for delivery on Friday by being at my local FedEx facility, I'm going to an Apple store, getting a phone there, and cancelling my order with Verizon. -
