Cast and Crew Credits for Home Videos

Hi Folks,
When I purchase a movie from the iTunes store It comes with limited cast and crew credits shown alongside the cover art. How can I add similar information for my Home Videos?
I have looked in "Get Info" on a purchased Movie, but can't see where this information resides.
Many thanks,
David.

If someone knows that this simply can not be done, knowing that would save me a lot of hassle trying to work it out... Otherwise I will shut up and be more patient.
Many thanks as always,
David.

    Quick question... I hope...
How do I add "Cast and Crew" credits to my home movies to be the same as purchased "Hollywood" movies?
I have had a look in the "get info" sections for purchased movies in order to use the same sections for my details, but can't see where this detail is registered.
    Thanks for any help.
    David.

  • HT1498 The 'Cast and Crew' credits when renting and buying movies

The 'Cast and Crew' credits when renting and buying movies only shows the Director, Actors and Producers... Surely there should be a fuller credit list? At least the heads of each department?

If the films aren't including all the credits then that is because the studios aren't including them in the film's file that they pass to Apple. You can try leaving feedback for Apple, but ultimately it's the studios that will have to provide the info in their films : http://www.apple.com/feedback/

  • How is this for a PC spec for home video editing?

OK - we've decided to get the new PC now, focused around decent performance for video editing at home when we do it.   Any feedback on the below would be greatly appreciated.  I've tried to put in my "principles", but as you note I've highlighted some questions around these.
    Principles
    * Decent computer for Home Video Editing - so when we do it want it to be reasonable from a performance point of view (not annoying).  Also want assurance for the video data that a single HDD crash won't mean lost data.
    * Hard Drive Configuration - Assume RAID 1 for data
    C: 500GB - Operating System (1 x 500GB)
    D: 500GB - Swap Area for O/S (1 x 500GB)
    E: RAID 1 Redundancy for Data ( 2 x 1TB )
    * 64 bit Windows 7 Pro
    * Questions re Principles
Is it really worth having a separate drive (D: drive) for Swap?
Is there any real need to have a drive F: (another one) for exports?  This is non-real time so it shouldn't be an issue should it?
Any major improvement re moving say the C: drive to SSD? (or not worth the $$)
SATA II versus SATA III drives? (I've assumed both are ok when picking)
    The Spec
    CPU - Intel Core i7 960 Processor LGA1366 3.2GHz 8MB Cache CPU
    Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R X58+ICH10R QPI 6.4GT/s DDR3 2000 PCI-Ex16 SATAII SATA3 USB3.0 RAID GLAN ATX
    RAM - Kingston 12GB(3X4G) KIT 1333MHz(PC3-10600)
    Video Card - NVIDIA GTX560 - Gigabyte GTX560 OC 1G GDDR5 PCIE DualLink DVI  [?? matches motherboard / is this overkill ??]
    RAID Card - Adaptec AAR1220SA-SGL SATAII RAID0 1 JBOD/2 PORT/Low Profile/PCIEx1/OEM/No Cables [?? is this ok - seems cheap ??]
    HDD (non-RAID) - 2 x Western Digital 500G RE4 SATAII 7200rpm HDD 64MB Enterprise [?? only SATAII this is ok no??]
Case - CoolerMaster RC-942-KKN1 HAF X 942 Black No PSU [?? is this overkill - just took someone recommendation here ??]
Power Supply - Corsair HX-850 ATX Power Supply w 140mm Modular Cables [?? power ok?  again just took a recommendation ??]
    O/S - 64bit - Microsoft Windows 7 Pro 64bit OEM(Microsoft OEM Terms&condition apply)
Note - I'm looking at the following local site re where to source if this assists: http://www.umart.com.au

Greg (correct me if that's not correct!),
You're spec. looks like a great start for what you are trying to do. I have a few comments, and also two questions!
    Comments:
    - Spec. generally looks fine
    - I particularly like your case and p/s choices!
    - For a home PC, you may consider bumping up your OS choice to Ultimate, which adds some nice multimedia capabilities
    - Regarding the D drive for swap (and I assume you mean Premiere Pro media cache and media cache database too) will definitely speed up aspects of Premiere Pro, but likely be unnoticeable for other home PC day to day use. Why not build out the system and decide then if you need the extra speed for Premiere Pro - it is so easy to add something like that later.
    - I'd vote no regarding a need for a F output drive for this system
    - Regarding your OS drive... Speed and responsiveness versus cost - what do you choose? This really is a personal choice. I will say that a 2x1TB RAID 0 OS boot array would probably be a bigger step up in performance than a similar priced SSD option and a 2xSSD (60 to 80GB) array will perform better than a single larger SSD.
    - Sata II vs Sata III - I have some of each now, and I would agree with other posters and articles on the Internet that say the often larger cache size on the Sata III models is more important than the Sata III interface. Keep going like you are going, with the assumption that both are OK.
    - finally, your CPU; personnaly, with the new lower cost pricing on the i7-970, I'd suggest you downgrade to a i7-950 and same some money or upgrade to the 32nm 6-core i7-970 CPU and jump to a significantly new level of performance and power per watt
    Questions:
    - what version of Premier Pro will you be running?
    - what will be your workflow (i.e. DV, Sony consumer AVCHD, Canon DSLR, etc.)?
    Cheers,
    Jim

Very recently, my computer stopped opening quicktime when I click on a video clip in iphoto. I have quicktime X, and it still works to play videos if I open quicktime and then search for the video. How do I go back to quicktime automatically launching from iphoto?

Well since I do not have iPhoto 7 I can only guess what may be: As far I can remember up to iPhoto 8, iPhoto insisted on Quick Time Player 7. As I can see you have Snow Leopard (Mac OS X 10.6) and there Quick Time X is the standard playaer. Basically Quick Time 7 is not part of Snow Leopard.
Can you please check if Quick Time 7 is installed under Applications->Utilitis (in 10.6 Quick Time 7 if presenet is installed not under Applications - there Quick Time X is - but under Application/Utilities).
If not: insert your Snow Leopard installation DVD.
Once the installer opens, double-click on the Optional Installs folder
    Double-click the Optional Installs.mpkg package
    Click continue.
Select the option for QuickTime 7 then click Continue to start the installation.
If it is there you may try to move the iPhoto prefernce file to another folder and let iPhoto create a new one.
Please keep the old file until you are sure that iPhoto works how it should.
The iPhoto preference file can be found under your home folder then Library then Preferences and there
    com.apple.iPhoto.plist
As alraedy mentioned do not delet this file, since if something goes wrong you can put it back.

  • Two questions:  how do Skype and iChat compare for group video?  quality, reliability, cost, etc are important.  2) Is my MobileMe ID what I need to use in the window in making an iChat buddy?  It only says AIM above the window, online tutorial differs.

Two questions:  1) How do Skype and iChat compare for group video?  Quality, reliability, cost, etc are important.  2) Is my MobileMe ID what I need to input in the window in making an iChat buddy?  It only says AIM above the window, online tutorial differs, saying MobileMe, AIM, GoogleTalk (Jabber) all work. Hi,
IChat uses better Video Compression than Skype does.
On a top flight Mac you can send a 640 X 480 pixel frame up to 30 frames a sec.
    Skype can't match this.
iChat in Video is Peer to Peer. (you can actually Log out of the Buddy list)
Skype seems to borrow something from everyone's bandwidth to make connections.
What do you mean by Business account Tracking ?
iChat Adds (or can add) the First Name, Last Name of your Buddies and create an Address Book Entry
Whether you mark those cards connected with a  company is up to you.
(I have heard of issues with earlier version of iChat and the Address Book that "saw" the Company Name as the part of the Name and linking several Screen Names to the one name
Audio on a Mac using Skype tend to be the same as the streaming needs are less.
However you have to rely on any PCs audio abilities from PCs which may not be to the same standard.
Mac to PCs in iChat and AIM can be difficult though.  (It should work but it rarely as simple as Plug and go)
Skype may suit your needs better on ocassions.

  • Backward and forward buttons for AVI video

    hi
is there a way to do a backward and forward buttons for AVI
    video using lingo?

Yes it is. Use a behavior like this for the forward button:
    property thisSprite
    property dvSprite
    on getPropertyDescriptionLIst
    myPropList = [:]
    myPropList.addProp(#dvSprite,[#comment:"enter the sprite
    channel number for the video
    sprite:",#format:#integer,#default:""])
    return myPropList
    end
    on beginSprite me
    thisSprite = me.spriteNum
    end
    on mouseUp me
    sprite(dvSprite).movieRate = 1
    end
although I'm not sure that AVI can play backwards, try this
    for the reverse button sprite:
    property thisSprite
    property dvSprite
    on getPropertyDescriptionLIst
    myPropList = [:]
    myPropList.addProp(#dvSprite,[#comment:"enter the sprite
    channel number for the video
    sprite:",#format:#integer,#default:""])
    return myPropList
    end
    on beginSprite me
    thisSprite = me.spriteNum
    end
    on mouseUp me
    sprite(dvSprite).movieRate = -1
    end

  • I want to use music as background for home video and put it on facebook. How do I get permission to do that.

I want to put a song I purchased on i tunes and use it as background on a non comercial home video and put it on face book. How do I get permission to do that?

I can't answer this one but I imagine it would be a nightmare and expensive.  The companies that do that probably aren't scaled for such a thing and are more likely used to dealing with big contracts.  You might even have to do something such as provide evidence for how many times the music has been played -- something I suspect Facebook is not geared up for doing.
I guess if it's a small scale artist on their own private label you could ask the individual but it's a big time artist working with a record company then you'll have to deal with the record company or pay a company that works with them on licensing issues.

  • What is best mac and software for home video editing and creation

I am about to buy a mac to capture 30 years of photos, film, and video (multiple formats).
I want to then edit a series of videos to make movies to capture our family history.  I know I will have a lot of conversions to make and will use a local video transfer place to do that.
I am not worried about price.
My goal is to make a series 30 of DVD's each about 1.5 hours in duration.
I have a lot of organizing, editing, publishing and storing to do.  I know it will take me a long time.
I am about to purchase the mac and other things needed.
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Dave

I do LOTS what you are about to do.
I think I can confidently say I have tried all software and the vast majority of video converters. Here is how I do it.
    Computer:   Mac Pro
Movie editor:  iMovie 06, (more expensive than iMovie 11 but well worth the price) I have iMovie 11, but I would not use it for making DVDs.
DVD authoring:  iDVD 09 / 11  ( iDVD has not changed in a couple of years, just make sure you're using iDVD 08 or later).
You will also need a A/D coverter. (Like the Grassvalley ADVC300)
I've played around with countless other conversion systems, ranging in price from $79 to $399. Short verison, this is the ONLY unit to own. No dropped frames at all, even with questionable quality tapes, no jitter, great color, excellent sound quality. Zero setup with iMovie 06 and iDVD 09/11.
This is a prosumer deck. The time code function is alone worth the price if you have old analog footage. Absolutely NO "Out Of Sync" audio.
ADVC300 is for anyone who wants to do editing and is concerned about quality of color and speed, for the novice it is an incredible gizmo that will restore VHS tapes to a state close to the original fixing midtones, highlights and shadows on the fly. Not only can you simply convert analog to digital you can actually manipulate the signal going in (if you want to).
A bit pricey but it WORKS.
    http://www.grassvalley.com/products/advc300
The program that comes with the ADVC300 has some nice filters that can improve video and audio of the source material.
I also own an Elgato EyeTV,  it's in a drawer somewhere. The ADVC300 gives much better results ESPECIALLY WITH TAPES.
iMovie 06 and iDVD 09 is 100% "lossless" combination and my DVD's look like they came from Hollywood!

  • QT7 and Playback of Legacy Home Videos

I recently moved to an iMac and I have a lot of home videos shot with a Panasonic DVD Camcorder, imported with its software and now residing on an external hard drive. All the content appears to have been converted from Windows Media Player to QuickTime but when I try to launch a file it will not open and play. Any ideas on solving this issue?
    iMac 24 Intel C2D   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   iPod 80Gb/Nano 4GB/Apple TV

Thanks for the tips. Always good to hear from a fellow Jersey boy!(Smile!) Actually, I'm from CA. Retired here for the wife who grew up in the Burlington County area -- lots of memories and friends for her here.
So, where do I get the QT MPEG-2 component?
    QT MPEG-2 Component
    MPEG Streamclip
I upgraded to QT Pro, does that cover me?No, Pro just unlocks the editing, conversion, recording, and saving features of the QT Player. (This can be very handy for "lite" editing by the average user and, in the hands of a really advanced user, can do some amazing things.) However, it does not add any new codecs which would allow the playback of additional compression formats. For that you need component installs like DivX, Flip4Mac, the Perian pack, etc. Most proprietary codecs require you pay a liscensing fee for import/export but usually have free player components that allow simple playback in the QT Player. Also the VLC Player is handy for some playback of codecs that have never been ported for use on the Mac or have yet to be released in universal binary.

  • I like to use the songs I made on GarageBand as soundtrack for home video, what app should I use for that on my iPad ?

So  I have  made some  cool songs using the GarageBand app and want to take it to the next level and add visual media like pics and home video to the songs..what app will work on my iPad that allows me to export songs from GarageBand app so I can make music videos.Thank you .

iMovie for the iPad will do exactly what you want. You can send audio from GarageBand on an iOS device directly to iMovie, where you can bring together pictures and videos you have on your iPad.

  • HT4914 Can i upload and have access to home videos in iTunes Match?

Hello. I have been uploading all my music to iTunes Match and using iCloud, only to discover (apparently) that all of this does not include non-purchased (home) videos. I want to be able to put them in the cloud and stream on demand from multiple devices. Am I missing something here?

Misread your first post, I didn't notice the non-purchased part.
The only way to get videos into the Videos app on iOS devices is by buying/downloading them directly in the iTunes store app on it or by syncing them from a computer's iTunes. So as well as needing a cloud service to store them, you will need an app that can connect to that service and be able to play whatever format your videos are in You've tried searching for something such as 'cloud video stream' in your country's store to see if that finds anything ?

  • TouchSmart not recognizing Hi8 Camcorder for home video capture.

To capture home videos on my computer, I am using a firewire-to-USB cable to connect a Hi8 Canon video camera to an HP TouchSmart 600-1100 PC running Windows 7. The computer is not recognizing the device. I can't tell if I have a IEEE 1394 device installed (not listed in my device manager) and i don't see any firewire port, only 2 USBs.
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
Firstly, nowadays nearly all new Windows computers don't have Firewire port(s). And secondly the Firewire-to-USB cable alone will never work. You need a converter or a hub which is designed to do a conversion work. Firewire and USB are both digitals but two different ways to transfer data. The following hub is one example:

The latter PC has all my current photos on it which I would like share with others on my Apple TV. A fix would be appreciated.
