CAT6 Issue
Hi,
When you Transfer CATS data to HR by using CAT6, it is taking more time than expected, can any one tell me why it is happening and give some sollutions to take less time.
Regs,
Brahma
Hi,
Reorganizing interface tables improves the performance of the current transfer report. We recommend you schedule the report RCATSRIF periodically as a background job.
The report enables you to reorganize the time sheet interface tables by deleting data records that have already been transferred to the target components from their respective interface tables.
This will help u
Thanks

Mac mini 2012 new OWC SSD install issue
Hoping someone can makes sense of this report.
My macmini 2012 has been rock stable. 8 gig, Yosemite install.
Yesterday I installed an 120GB Electra 6G SSD as a second drive. Installed a fresh install of Yosemite. Everythign went without a hitch. System ran for 24 hours with non problems. Began installing my software and twice I came back to find the mini had rebooted under the original hard rive/system with a message that the computer had shutdown due to a hardware issue.
Checking Disk Utility the OWC SDD doesnt' even come up.
Rebooting it show shows up again, I can then select it as the start up drive and reboot with the SDD. Everything seems fine. Then a repeat several hours later.
This is the last report. Can someone translate? I don't know if I have a bad SDD, if it's a comptability/OS issue or if I possibly knocked something loose when reassembling. Thanks.

FireWire Device: OXFORD IDE Device 1, EZ QUEST, 800mbit_speedthanks the replies. OWC sold me the kit, cable etc based on the Macmini's specs. I talked with support and the drive I installed should work with no issues.
They did have me reset the PRAM which did. They also told me I might need to install Yosemite 'several times before is sticks' - whatever that means. lol.
Anyway I zapped the PRAM. So far no mysterious restarts with the drive being unrecognized.
One thing I didn't mention though...
MacMini is in a backyard home office (about a 100 feet away with buried CAT6 cable connecting it to the network). I was using Screen Share from my MBP reinstall all my work software. Every crash occurred while using screenshare. I never had any crashes when I was actually sitting at the computer.
I don't know if that has anything to do with it - but I haven't used ScreenShare for any length of time to control the Mac mini since the pram zap. Figured I'll use the computer for a week or so and see how stable it is and then try using screenshare again and see if the behavior repeats itself.
Meanwhile I'll keep my fingers crossed.
I'm just suspect that it was a PRAM issue. But I'm a layman. -
Issue with SPA525g registation and FXO port call calls are not disconnecting properly
Hi,
I have a UC540 and updated it to the latest IOS version with the latest firmware to my phones and i am having registration problems with SPA525g IP Phones. I updated the firmware of the phones as well and create manual tftp bindings with but still it is not registering. I run a couple of debugs (debug tftp events and debug ephone registration) I can see from the logs and in the phone that it is taking the proper VLAN and being discovered via CDP and being pointed to the TFTP server and still wont register. I can see that it is also taking its own .cnf file properly then the output sccp token regected invalid devices error is shown I have a SPA502G and it is working fine. Also there is a previous issue that all the voice port are shown as engage or offhook even the calls are disconnected thus make the main PSTN number busy am based in UAE and our service provider is etisalat I have check with them about the proper disconnection values but still it the same. That's why I have arrived in the conclusion to just update everything including the IOS and the phones firmware. I have put my config in this post, I am also trying to take the CCNA Voice exam on the 2nd week of april and I think that if i don't know how fix this issue for our customer then I would probably fail that exam. any suggestion and help is greatly appreciated cisco experts.

Some of the output are not shown becaus it is to long I have attach the whole config for reference and any advice on how could I optimize and resolve my issues is greatly appreciated. ThanksNicolo - First off this stuff gets crazy sometimes. No worries about the exam. Sometimes when FXO ports go crazy it is due to battery reversal. If you go to the FXO port settings try turning battery reversal on and or off... depending on its current setting. See if that helps.
As for the 525s not registering.. These are inside the network correct? Are you connecting one directly to the UC500 with a Cat5E or Cat6 patch cable and the same thing happens? Does the MAC address on the phone match a MAC address under the EPHONE settings?
If you telnet into the UC500 can you execute a "dir" command at the CLI prompt and "CD" (change directory) into the phones folder and then the spa525g folder? Do files exist in there?
Also I only see an IP address under BVI100? This is the voice side of things what happened to the IP address under BVI1 (Data VLAN). Can you give us some information about the internal network? Cna you PING this phone system from the network? What IP address does it have? -
AEBS "Ghost" Router Issue - The Challenge for 2012 (and it's only January)
Yes, it's a bold statement to claim that I have the biggest issue so far for 2012. Why may you ask? Because I've stumped RCN (ISP), Access Media 3 (ISP), Apple Tech Support, and Cisco Tech Support. Here's the challenge for you to see if you can figure it out:
***Also, sorry for the long-winded post. I've spend over 20 hours on this issue and racked up a lot of info to share with you. So please bear with me***
I used to own a Linksys E4200 router (early 2011), which I set up using the wireless network name (for example) "wifi-box". Due to performance issues, I returned the router back to Linksys in April 2011. Shortly thereafter, I purchased a used AESB. I performed a factory reset (not a hard reset, as I know the difference between the two) before setting up my network. Things worked great from April to Dec. 2011.
On Jan. 1st, 2012, the building that I live in switched ISPs. I used to have RCN, and now have Access Media 3 (AM3). Both provide the same type of connection - cable - and both provided me with a modem (not sure the model of the one that RCN provided to me, but AM3 gave me a Surfboard 5101N...shudder). Once the transition from RCN to AM3 took place, I performed another factory reset on the AESB before setting up my my network from scratch.
Now, here's where things get start to get weird. I "Created a wireless network" on my AESB, entered in the name "wifi-box" (to keep it the same as before) as the wireless network name, and followed the rest of the steps until I updated the router. Shortly after the AESB restarted, I received a "Dual (or double) NAT" error right off the bat. Looking into the issue futher, there were now 2 wireless network names called "wifi-box"?!? Huh?!? The actual name isn't "wifi-box", but was something quite unique. So it was easy to tell that it was (once) my wireless name.
The next 5 hours were a blur of reconfiguing, resetting, unplugging, etc. anything that is connected to my network. Nothing worked. During all of this, I also switched the name of the AESB to (for example) "apple-wifi".
As a last resort, I unplugged everything - the Surfboard, the AESB, wiped all Airport Util profiles off my 2 Macs, wiped my profile off my 1 PC, shut them down, did the same for my iPhone 3G, shut off the power strip that the modem and AESB were connected to, and unscrewed the coax cable from the wall. I had a friend come over with his laptop, which he never brought over before, and had him search for a wifi signal. As you would guess, "apple-wifi" didn't appear...BUT "WIFI-BOX" WAS AVAILABLE TO CONNECT TO!!! Arrrgggg!!
At this point it seems that the profile is somewhere outside of my condo. But where???
Moving along, I used a tool called WiFi Stumbler to see if that could help shed some light on my issue. What I found was unheard of. The wirless name "wifi-box" was linked to a Linksys router. Once I discovered this, I logged into my Linksys profile (192.168.1.1) to see if it still worked. IT DID!!! However, that was short lived, because as soon as I clicked on a tab, I was booted out. On top of that, I couldn't log back in. Not sure if this is because it was looking for the Linksys router or not. Whatever the reason...it's just flat out weird.
Because the password to log into my old Linksys profile was the same, it somewhat leads me to believe that someone doesn't have the same wireless name that I do.
Over the past two days, I talked to RCN, Linksys, Apple Tech, AM3, had an AM3 tech out to look at it...no one knew what the issue was. When I talked to Apple, and they thought it might be the Surfboard. The tech said that the Surfboard is also a router, which is why the "dual NAT" error is taking place. However, I then spoke to AM3 and they told me the Surfboard was only a modem. I looked it up online, and it's just modem. Also, I was able to get rid of the "dual NAT" error, but yet I still cannot connect.
My current error msg is: "Airport has the self-assigned IP address 169.XXX.XXX.XXX and will not be able to connect to the Internet". The AirPort indicator light in my Network Preferences is orange, but the AESB indicator light is green (and is reporting no issues).
To end this, (if you're still reading), any help that you may have is greatly appreciated. Everyone I spoke to is stumped. I'm not sure where to go next from here. If you know anything, please let my know . As a quick recap, here are my current settings:
Devices:
1) MacBook Pro (2011), OSX Lion;
2) MacBook (2009), OSX Snow Leopard;
3) IBM Lenovo PC, Win XP SP2
4) iPhone 3G (iOS 4.2)

Thanks and good luck (to you and me)Thanks Tessarax,
Thanks for the reply, and no worries about the long form answer. Yesterday, I went through your process twice (for good measure). I also unplugged/shut down everything overnight and tried it once again today. Unfortunately, the results are the same.
Me network is currently up and running, albeit a limited connection. It's still producing the "Double NAT" error. My Internet is set up as follows:
These are the settings for "apple-wifi" in the AirPort Util.:
Connect Using: Ethernet
Ethernet WAN: Automatic
Connection Sharing: Share a public IP address. ("Bridge Mode" and Distribute a range of IP addresses" cause additional errors which brings down the network. These errors include setting a DHCP beginning/ending address and no Internet connection. I tried setting the DHCP beginning/ending address several times, but the AEBS never accepts my entries.)
IP: 10.XXX.XXX.XXX
DHCP: Beginning/Ending Address: 172.XXX.XXX.XXX
DNS: 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4
These are the settings for "wifi-box" in the Network Preferences:
IP: 192.XXX.XXX.XXX
DNS Servers: 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4
Search Domains: 221am3.com
802.1X: No profiles (I deleted them)
Bypass proxy settings for these Hosts & Domains: *.local, 169.XXX/XX
Use Passive FTP Mode (PASV): checked
MAC Address: same as "apple-wifi"
These are the settings for "apple-wifi" in the Network Preferences:
IP: 172.XXX.XXX.XXX
DNS Servers: 172.XXX.XXX.XXX
Search Domains: 221am3.com
802.1X: No profiles (no profiles were avaible for "apple-wifi")
Bypass proxy settings for these Hosts & Domains: *.local, 169.XXX/XX
Use Passive FTP Mode (PASV): checked
MAC Address: same as "wifi-box"
Two new discoveries that I uncovered yesterday are as follows:
1. 802.1X (under Network Preferences): There were 3 profiles that I deleted from this tab last week. After resetting the network, they came back. Whether they were present or deleted, it didn't affect the connectivity of my network. Just mentioning that these profiles came back after deletion (I deleted them again).
2. Yesterday, the network in my building went down for a few hours. I noticed that neither "wifi-box" nor "apple-wifi" were available to connect to. This is an obvious insight, but it seems that when "wifi-box" is unavailable, "apple-wifi" is unavailable as well. However, 'wifi-box' has always been available even when "apple-wifi" is down. Sounds like my Internet signal follows this path:
AM3 > Condo building > "wifi-box" > my condo > Surfboard modem > AEBS "apple-wifi" > my devices (laptops, iPhone, Xbox, etc.)
Two new questions:
1. What is DHCP Client ID and is this something that I need to provide?
2. Could the cables that I'm using cause any problems? Here's the cable that I'm using and the connections between the devices:
CAT5: Router > AEBS
CAT5e: AEBS > MacBook Pro
CAT6: AEBS > Xbox
If there's other questions or infer that you need, please ask -
NMH300 Issues : Indexing, recent files, web interface ...
Hi,
I am presently having A LOT of problems with my NMH.
I tried to reboot, different drives, different settings with drives (raid, linear ...), different firewalls, different IP settings, different route settings, cat5 and cat6 ethernet cables ... And IT IS NOT WORKING !!!
At first, i just tried to use the NMH as a Media Server for my music and video files.
I was trying to stream content with my playstation3 (videos and music files).
It was working well for videos but the music folder was a complete mess (the web interface shows some unreallistic ID3 information) and some files don't appear int the web interface.
(I formerly was using PS3 Media Server on my laptop to share content mith my PS3 and the music folder was NOT a mess, all my files were ok and playing good).
I have to tell that my ID3 tag are quite allright (except some personal files not tagged).
At that time, the main problem was a really slow and unstable access so streaming music was not really good.
I looked for a solution and about 3 months later, I found something out ...
The problem that poped out from forum searchs was a maximum of files allowed by the NMH.
I had to many music files so the indexing was never ending, the acces was very slow, copying a 100Mb video file could take more than 30 mins ...
So I just made a backup of my datas, formatted my Seagate 500Gb drive and then just copied some files (not a lot) in each music, videos and pictures folders. At that time, it was pretty ok (except that I had some issues trying to connect to the web interface but anyway, the ps3 was accessing files quite good)
I was using around 50 files in each media folder.
Then I plugged in my second drive (Western Digital 640Gb) to use it in linear mode (btw, this is what I would like to have in a final time : about 1Tb in linear mode).
At that time, still working quite good.
I added some videos files (about 100Gb), my pics collection (about 15Gb) and some more music files. (8Gb in less than 7000 files in order to keep indexing working good).
And here I am now, with my MediaHub half loaded (still have more than 65000 music files waiting for a solution !!!), trying to browse with my PS3:
- videos look good, browsing and streaming both ok
- pictures look good too, I can browse the folders and see my pics without a problem
- music ... well, I cannot browse the folder anymore (in ps3 tree menu "folder" does not appear anymore, only "artist", "album", "playlists" ...) which is really annoying for me (I use a a lot of sample libraries and each have their own "artist" and "album")
But anyway, I decided to give a look at the web interface and I noticed that the recent files that were showing up were files that were not present anymore on the disc !!! It seemed like the only recent files showing were files I added 2 months ago.
I was looking at the "recent files" I was using when I first set up my NMH for the first time ...
By now, I've read some threads about this problem but there no solution.
Some helped resolving the "indexing" issue. I tried to reboot several times, formatted the Seagate then the Western Digital drive to see a difference but nothing.
So my questions:
Is there a way to have a full working NMH concerning music and ID3 information ?
Is there a way to completely clear the NMH music information database to have it ready to be re-filled ?
Did someone managed to have a stable installation ?
And finally, can you browse your music folder and see the original tree (as you see it in windows) ?
Thanks a lot for your help and information.Well ... I tried ... It failed !!!
The TwonkyMedia settings page currently shows :
Content
Music Tracks : 3830
Photos : 251
Videos : 465
Radios stations : 0
My clients are all set up as they should be
(except my isp box which shows "generic media receiver")
I tried different options to see if there were any differences (auto-share media with new clients on/off, ftp enabled/disabled, iTunes library service on/off ...) but there is no way I can see my music thru the web interface.
As a consequence, I cannot reach my music from the outside. (over the web for example).
I even tried to use a blackberry, an iPhone, a HTC Desire and an iPod touch to see if I could access my files thanks to the twonkymedia ( h t t p : / / [ my ip ] : 9000 ) ... The twonkymedia page shows up (I can't access any file (music, video nor photos) because of a gateway timeout.
I just don't get what's wrong with my NMH but I really am fed up with it ...
To sum up, thanks to your links Wilkins377 :
- I now can complete the scanning without any problem.
- My music folder is now browseable by folder (as shown in windows) thru the PS3
- I now can turn off the NMH by pressing the power button during 5 seconds (it used to restart)
But ... (again) ... :
- Hardrives won't stop spinning and both drives are very very hoooooot (can't touch them !!!)
- As a result, the NMH is really noisy and noise isn't stoppipng at all (24/7).
- No recent music files and no music files at all in the NMH web interface.
Please help me !!! Anyone ... I'm desperate ...
PS: I didn't upgrade to 3.8.15 so I still am using the 3.8.14 firmware. Everything was ok at first (I mean when I first installed my NMH) before I tried the 3.8.15 so I'd prefer not to upgrade as I am certain that the NMH CAN work well on my network with the 3.8.14 firmware. -
Having issues keeping Apple Tv's connected to iTunes
I have 4 apple tv's throughout my home and cat6 ran to each room. I'm consistently having to restart itunes to connect to home sharing on them. Once restarted then they connect fine. Even is one is connected and playing a movie I have to restart for another to be able to play something causing other ones to disconnect. I have 3 apple tv2's and 1 apple tv3. I've Googled and searched for remedy's for the problem but I cant seem to find anything that fixes the issue. I've talk to apple support and the only thing they told me to do is make sure my hard drive on my pc don't go to sleep. I'm using an Airport Extreme for a router. Any idea's out there.
Is it probably better then to use the parental controls and set all of 'her stuff' to PG and allow PG films to the second AppleTV, as opposed to setting up a separate library.
Trying to get my head around it all still ... but head full of new iPhone from o2 ;o) -
Still Getting Buffering Issues and Slow Web Page L...
Since I suspect this issue hasn't gone away - and I/we have been asked to post issues individually rather than clumping into a single tread.
I just got back from Spain and after quizzing family it seems we are still getting Stream Buffering Issues (again) (requires a refresh restart << I suspect lost packets rather than speed decrease) and webpages sometimes don't load correctly and require a refresh to load all page elements.
Just before I left there was an Openreach engineer working on the CAB and my noise margin doubled (but given my distance from the CAB and no speed issues I think the higher margin is a bonus not a negative << so hard to get uncontradictary posts or guidance on the web about Noise Margins - speeds still ok atm according to BTW but havent been back long enough to monitor thru the day/night.
I can only assume there are still backhaul issues ongoing.
I notice other ISP forums eg Plusnet noting capacity contention issues but BT remains Silent.
It's such a shame BT aren't more forthcoming to their customers and I feel really cheated/mis-sold by the whole Infinity 2 product 'never have to buffer again' - advertising hype. This has been a problem here since mid December - so we're talking a month worth of connection issues.
Since someone will probably ask me for HH stats - here you go - apologies to all those more than 20m from the CAB who are struggling on much slower speeds (I feel for you honest) and in terms of the available speeds etc feel this HAS TO BE a BTW backhaul issue - be it from exchange or in the core.
I'm all open to comment/solutions

So...
Eliminating anything in the home the following tests are done directly into the HH5s Gb port. I normally use a switch in this port to seperate my PC's from iThings and anything else on WiFi (the kids)(BTFon/X) - never had any issues with my switch tho and it will push pull files to/from my NAS or transfer files around my three PCs at full speed << so no concerns there, but NOT used in these tests.
All wired with industry Grade CAT6 << even ran a checker tool on it and no probs << yip I have such things available.
Following Stats are after a complete shut down :
PC Restarted without Firewall or any AntiVirus - no other network connections active and HH5 WiFi Dissabled. HH5 Power Off and Factory Reset (I've tried previously as suggested by other posters using the Openreach modem but since it didnt solve anything just went back to the HH5 to save a power socket and my HH5 can stay up for 13 or so days without issues so I don't suffer in disconnection issues dept). Ok i could buy another router but I doubt its the problem and im just **bleep** away cash for what would then be a replacement for 'not fit for purpose' supplied equipment.
Quiet Line test = clear << tested master socket with wired phone.
My Cabinet :
BTWholesale Speed Test :
Interestingly i'm getting way lower UPLOAD than the minimum even on an impaired line (I'm only about 20m from the cabinet as the cable runs - less if I want to kick it) << this does seem to fluctate a lot.
TBB Speedtest :
I'm open to suggestions but have just about had enuff...
I still maintain this is a congeston issue but that BT are in total denial to customers about what traffic shaping occurs to maintain the QoS for their YouView and BTSports Customers at the expense of other data under 'abnormal conditions' like lack of capacity.
So unless a MOD wants to jump in and resolve this quickly, I have several letters ready to go to various parts of BT - Customer Complaints/Sales(for misleading claims)/and Legal Dept. Just need the stamps + a cc copy to Ofcom. This is the last phase of having done ALL I CAN BE REASONABLY EXPECTED TO DO through the BTs compaints proceedures. so that I can send a breach of contract notification to escape this madness.

Server 2012 Standard Edition network teaming issue at bootup
I have a Windows server 2012 x64 standard edition server (not R2) using two Intel I210AT nic's on an ASUS P9D-X motherboard. They are setup in a team using the Microsoft teaming. No special options, latest updates and the latest Intel drivers.
The team is setup in switch independent mode and connected with quality cat6 cables to a Cisco 3600 switch. No special options on the ports of the switches, no LACP or trunking, just standard unconfigured ports.
The problem we have is when the server is rebooted the team will not communicate with the network. If we unplug one network cable communication begins. We can then plug the cable back in and both
ports work and communicate normally.
This issue is serious as it requires physical action on every restart.
We have tried deleting the team and recreating it and we get the same results. Is there some specific change that needs to be made to make this work or is this possibly a known bug?May be problem on Cisco side, Cisco is very clever, could assessed network traffic as a problem and close the port. When OS is running, then NIC Teaming working fine, but when you boot up server, "BIOS not running with NIC Teaming", in this moment
may occur problem on Cisco side.
I recommend, if you use Cisco, configure NIC Teaming in LACP mode and configure your two ports on Cisco to LACP, it's better way.

Mac Mini Ethernet SSL connection issues
Hi,
Up until recently I have been using my Late 2012 Mac mini with a WiFi connection. Recently though I've had reason to switch to a Gigabit Ethernet connection (short version, moved from UK to Canada, living with in-laws and they have a crappy wireless router that can't hold a stable connection for more than a few hours).
However, I'm getting a really odd Ethernet network issue where my mac will "corrupt" SSL connections. This normally manifests itself in web pages not fully downloading, images becoming corrupted, or errors when downloading files. The last one is particularly hurting as I have been doing some heavy downloading of DMG files and other installers, all of which are a 100% guaranteed fail with DMG files reporting as being corrupted if I try to open them.
I have also lost my time machine backup as OSX has reported that this has failed verification and needs to be created new; I accepted creating a new one (reluctantly) and the backup now fails to complete every time it runs - either the wireless cuts out or the SSL connection corrupts the backup.
I have a 16-port GigE Switch (Netgear GS116) with a number of computers and the home modem plugged into this.
I've tried the following to look at this:
I've tried (and tested) a number of different Cat5e and Cat6 cables. These all work fine with other Windows / Linux machines and according to my cable tester all check out. 100% of the cables I own produce the error leading me to believe that it's not a cable problem.
Problem occurs even if the switch is bypassed and the mac plugged directly into the modem.
Problem does not occur (for web pages and small downloads) when plugged into wireless - this is just sloooow and as the router seems to develop issues with DNS over WiFi, I have to reset it every few hours so long term downloads fail.
I found an article (which I have now lost the URL for) where someone suffered intermittent network issues with Ethernet that they resolved by un-checking the "Enable automatic connection" on the 802.1X page of the network settings. This appeared to help for a couple of days and I enjoyed fast Ethernet and downloads once more. However, today the problem is back in force.
I am able to download files from a windows machine (well, except for downloads via the App store) and then transfer them over the network to the mini with no problems at all - the corruption issue only seems to occur when SSL is involved.
So I'm wondering what it could be and how I would go about diagnosing the issue. I'm more familiar with Windows / Linux systems, having not owned a Mac since the days of System 7 - the mini was bought so I could play with learning XCode and try my hand at Mac software development.
Thanks in advance,
~MrBasset.

Having Network Issues with Multiple ATVs
I've never really had any problems with my ATV on my wireless network (Time Capsule 802.11n 5Ghz only range being extended to my upstairs (3rd floor) via Airport Extreme) until I added my 2nd ATV on the network yesterday. Almost immediately after doing so I got nothing but errors from both ATVs. They won't play any video (Says the format is not recognized) or connect to the iTunes store. I can't even play videos I just watched hours prior. I've tried doing a restore on both ATVs to factory, then reupdating them. I've also unplugged them for several minutes and plugged them back in. Both my Time Capsule & AirPort Extreme are up to date. When I remove 1 of the ATVs and restart the other everything is fine. My network also works with no problem when I leave both ATVs and remove the AirPort Extreme from the equation. I don't NEED the AirPort Extreme but it makes life easier because my printer plugs into it in the upstairs office that Time Capsule doesn't reach - that and the simple fact that I paid a lot of money for my AirPort Extreme when it came out and would like to be able to use it
Running a CAT6 cable to one of the ATVs is not a viable option at the moment so I need to see if I can find a work around using the wireless only. I suspect if I lower my network to the 2.4 Ghz range I won't have any issues but then I'm not getting the most from my internal network.
Basically, I am almost positive I can lower the internal speed of my network and get this to work but I'd really rather not because I'm constantly streaming and moving massive amounts of data across it. My question is, has anyone set up more than one ATV using a similar setup (802.11n 5Ghz range)? If so, did you have any of the same issues or not?
My goal: Be able to use both ATVs on my network with my Time Capsule & AirPort Extreme at the fastest speed available. I need to be able to extend the network with AirPort Extreme because it won't cover my entire home with just the Time Capsule.
Note: My Time Capsule & AirPort Extreme are not the newest models on the market so I do not have the option to do 802.11n 5Ghz with backward compatability to 802.11g. Also, my ATVs are both fairly old, purchased within a month after ATV was first launched. I've only used one until now because I lent the other to a friend until now.
Thanks,
JasonYour second Apple TV is probably running the initial sync that will fill the entire hard drive with information. While this is happening your network will be crippled. I suggest waiting a day or two until the sync is complete.
Unfortunately, the fact that the second, syncing Apple TV doesn't function correctly when the first Apple TV is plugged in means you may have another problem (the sync should pause when playing media on that particular Apple TV, which means the above problem wouldn't apply). So you may have another problem altogether. -
Netflix issue ONLY on Apple TVs
Here's the scenario:
I have 3 Apple TVs around my house. 2 are wired ethernet, 1 is WiFi connected. All are version 3 Apple TVs. Each and every one of these devices has an issue STARTING any stream of content from Netflix. The devices have no problem getting to Netflix to load the selection grids, the informational pages, etc. Only when I try to start a program/movie is there an issue. There will be a loading duration of between 45 seconds and 1 minute on EVERY program loaded from EVERY Apple TV in my house. Once getting past this long loading phase, the content streams in its highest quality flawlessly. If this is a series, the next episode load will take a very long time to load as well, although it is shorter than the initial load.
To validate, I have attempted to load Netflix content from laptops, both wired and WiFi, a Mac Mini, wired, and multiple tablet and phone devices. The ONLY devices showing this behavior are the Apple TVs. ALL OTHER devices load the content and stream perfectly fine, with the content starting to stream within 5 - 10 seconds.
I have written a couple of scripts to test network speed across my ISP at intervals throughout the day where heavy bandwidth congestion levels would be at their highest. This has yielded nothing interesting. My network access is rock solid to multiple data centers around the US with bandwidth averaging around 60Mb/10Mb.
There is nothing sub par in my home network. There are no consumer grade devices anywhere other than the cable modem, but if this were the problem, I would be seeing the same issues on every device, not just the Apple TVs. WiFi is canvassing my entire property via Ubiquiti APs. The entire WiFi network has been designed using the same Tamosoft Site Survey software that I use to layout all of my corporate locations. My core switch tying everything together is an Adtran 1544. All cabling is pretty much all hand built CAT6/5e.
I run a pretty large corporate network in my day job, so I'd like to think that I somewhat know what I'm doing with designing networks, measuring their performance, and troubleshooting congestion and other issues. These little black boxes are exactly that however; black boxes that should just work, which they do, for everything other than starting a Netflix stream efficiently.
This has all seemed to start happening within the past couple of months. Anyone else seeing this oddity with their Apple TVs and Netflix?Thank god I'm not the only one!!
I've had this issue for a few months now. EVERYTHING works on the Apple TV BUT Netflix. Now its taking forever to even load the Netflix app on the ATV3. It says Accessing Netflix for a good 45-60 seconds when you select the icon. Once you get a show going it streams just fine in full HD so its clearly not a signal issue. Switching from one episode to the next takes forever as well. I also have a PS4, iPad, Mac Mini and 2 iPhones on the same network and Netflix streams flawless. Hulu, iTunes and everything else on the ATV3 work perfectly. I don't get it.
I have completely reset everything....ATV3 and router to no avail.
I called Apple Support a couple months ago and the dude told me it was Netflix servers fault. He said they use different servers for different devices. So basically he thought the Netflix servers that feed ATV devices were screwing up. Pretty sure he had no idea what he was talking about and just wanted to shift blame.
I personally feel like its the Netflix app within the ATV its self. I don't think it really has anything to do with the network or signal at all. I guess i'm pretty well screwed because now its out of warranty. -
CATS Time entries confirmation issue
Hi
We CATS for time recording OverTime hours, CAT2 for entries, CAT4/CAPP for authorisation where all the entries are aprroved and no issues. At times we use CAT6 for approval making sure we approved all the inputs before processing for Time Evaluation. Once these are approved they get updated in HR Master Data which is the time infotypes. Note I have been using this for last few months everything was fine.
We use this at different sites, but now we have a problem at one site recently where the entries are getting approved but not updating the HR Master Data and the OT hours are getting picked up by the Time Evaluation driver.
ThanksNow its resolved.

Hello,
I have a 6 Cisco 1130 APs connected to a 4507 Switch.Everything is ok until i enable CDP on switchports connected to APs.As soon as i enable CDP, the APs become in accessible , i.e i cant get to the web interface using the Ap IP.Once i remove the CDP from switch config the APs are accessible through the web interface.
Any idea of what i am doing wrong ?
thanksFunny you bring this up ...
I had a similar problem, but it was our cables. We are using Siemens CAT6 patch cables, the ones that have the "chips inside". The APs would be on the network and drop off for no reason at all. We looked at everything and determined it was our cables. This happened first on our 1252s but then noticed it on our 1142s. Our issue was the cables... -
I currently have DSL access with a Westell A90-750015-07 router and a Cisco wireless adapter. I seem to have issues connecting at times to the Internet, especially since we had a recent storm. One night I'm able to get on, the next I can't. And when I am able to go online, it is usually after several tries. My computer is in the bedroom and the router is in the kitchen, which may have something to do with the connection issue because there is not a closer jack.
Usually what I end up doing is turning off the computer, restarting, or shutting down completely, turning off the router and taking the adapter out and turning back on. Usually I could then get back on, but seems a hassle.
Since I got on now, the connection has stayed on, thankfully. Sometimes it goes while I'm on, then will come back on. It's a pain because it's been like this consistently.
I have a networking cable, however, it's been a while since I used it. Verizon's Technical Support helped me the last time. I'm not sure if something needs to be reconfigured since the storm so this does not keep happening. They did something while the cable was plugged in, then I was able to go back to using the wireless adapter to connect. I don't suppose anyone would have instructions. I'm also unsure which one it gets plugged into. I believe it's Ethernet on my HP desktop, but on the router I'm unsure which one it goes into, like E1/Uplink, E2, E3, or E4/Data. I tried earlier with all of them, even turned the router off, then would restart the computer but nothing happened.
Any guidance would be much appreciated.

#1 An original or very old style NID with a spark gap and ground wire can even get spiders in it that could cause an issue. Inspect the NID first before thinking of changes or wiring.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demarcation_point
Running a good quality wire CAT5, no need for CAT6, directly to the NID for the DSL modem jack may help. That is what I had done with mine. Depending on the number of loads or amount of wire in the house could also cause issues. But if the user's signal quality is not being pulled low due to a wiring issues, it would usually indicate a problem elsewhere. Unless there was noise being picked up on the premises wiring. Wire DSL directly to the NID and install a filter there for all other in house wiring may help. There used to be available what was called a NID Filter, and I am sure you can still get them.
Ideal Connection if house wiring is an issue, or very old, and lengthy. Install a filter / splitter at the NID.
Run CAT5 directly to the NID location, and install a dedicated jack for the DSL modem.
Remove all in house wiring from the NID.
Connect piece of CAT5 from the NID to the filter / splitter input
Connect all existing phone lines to the phone side of the filter output.
Connect the new DSL CAT5 directly to the NID before the filter / splitter, or to the DSL side of the filter / splitter, depending on the device purchased.
This will take all the existing premises wiring out of the picture unless there is a short circuit or excessive load somewhere in the house.
At this point all the single filters could be removed because the DSL is filtered at the NID.

#2 You can test outbound to Giganews. But giganews has/had a test that will check your inbound connection from their servers to you.
I heard from another user that
Giganews is being watched very closely because of multipart binaries, and pirated material. MP3s and Video Content. 7 years ago you could get 10-20 MP3 albums in a single day, and that was with a 15/5 fios connection. So they started providing an encrypted connection service for an added fee. I have not messed with news groups for a very long time. Now with deep packet inspection, and other enforcement, I would not even think of it. No news I want there. But there may be content that people want? They may even be checking and limiting speed from that domain. Never tested. But let me see. It looks as if reverse trace routes and speed tests are being blocked by Verizon from Giganews to my router.

#3 Have the provider run a local loop test to see if any problems are indicated. If there are, then they could run the test with everything in the house disconnected, except the new DSL modem connection. If issues are still indicated, then the DSL provider needs to make connections on the local loop. Another user told me that they had issues when it rained, and it was because construction had left a splice box open on a line somewhere.

IMac not using Gigabit w/ Cat6 cable
I have my iMac (2010 i5) connected to a gigabit switch via a Cat6 cable. When left to connect automatically, the iMac chooses 100baseTX. If I manually force 1000baseT, the iMac will not connect. The strange thing is that I've used this setup before and I had a gigabit connection, with the only difference being that the switch was also connected to my Time Capsule. The other device has a gigabit connection without any toruble. Switching the cables does not solve the issue. The iMac continues to connect as 100baseT and the other device as gigabit.
One possible factor: the two devices are connected on a LAN using self-assigned IP (as opposed to being connected through the router using DHCP before).
Thoughts?Nevermind. It WAS the cable. Looks like something went wrong elsewhere.
