Catalog and Contact Sheets

Be able to print a catalog of folder(s) or selected items directly from bridge. Specify thumbnail size, number of items per sheet, gutter size, text information to be included (e.g., file name, size, print size, IPTC headline, etc.). Specify new page for each folder if applicable including folder name.
Print contact sheet for selected image specifying or selecting the sizes to be presented on the printout.

Actually, you can do all this and more with ContactSheetX(CSX) for PS CS2/CS3
(ps-scripts.sourceforge.net). If you need more than one line in your captions,
you'll need to get the 1.3b1 release. The only thing I don't think I have
support for is a way to have it insert the 'current' path (or folder name) into
the sheet. I imagine I could add that to the template system if there was any
real interest.
CSX will generate and save the sheets in a format of your choosing. You'll need
to print them using some other mechanism.

  • LIghtroom And Contact Sheets...PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!

Hello, I am in dire need of help (deadlines! ahhhhh!).
So we have been using lightroom for a couple of months now.
I work as an assistant at a professional studio which does weddings and some private family jobs.
We work on power macs which both have enough power to plan a trip to the moon.
We print on a Canon IPF 5100 and a 5000. Matte Epson 3* paper.
Each wedding is generally 5-7 Sets with 400-600 .NEF images each.
So heres the problem. Contact Sheet Resolution!
We never really had too much trouble with contact sheets, and only recently has it been noticed. Our images are printing so blurry it is hard to tell if eyes are open ect.
We had been printing on draft mode until now. I understand draft mode doesn't produce a fine image, but it seems they were never this bad.
So I tried turning draft mode off. It took hours to process every image (render it down/quality) and then it just wouldn't send it to the printer (at this point I want to throw a brick through my screen).
So my options with LR at this point are complete crap and a few wasted hours with no result.
I have gone back to CS3...A program which makes LR look like MS Paint...
The only problem is this is pretty time consuming and not very flexible.
So Please For all the is worthy on this earth...How can I use LR in a productive way???
    How do you Print C.S's?
    Do you share this problem??
    Much thanks.
    -A Stressed Out Employee.

Hi, I recently upgraded to LR2 (after having used LR1.4). When making contact sheets (3 across and 3 down) I notice that the quality of the outputted PDF file is terrible (I never recall it being this bad with LR1.4; in fact, I recall being able to zoom into the contact sheet quite far and still see decent resulotion). I have fiddled with the Print settings, tried printing in both draft and otherwise (which can take forever). I have tried re-importing the files and rendering both standard previews and 1:1 previews, but nothing seems to have corrected the problem I am having.
    A few interesting points:
    - Using the same photos and contact sheet configuration, the actual size of a contact sheet created in LR1.4 vs. LR2 is different (the LR1.4 contact sheet was actually a larger file). This would explain why I recall better resolution from the LR1.4 sheets I used to create.
    - In LR2, I notice that the portrait photos on contact sheets are lower quality than the landscape photos. I understand that they are actually larger on the sheet (so it might make sense at first look), but even when zoomed into, the landscape photos retain higher quality longer. I don't recall this happening with LR1.4.
Am I doing something wrong with the creation of my contact sheets or is there a setting that I am missing? Any input would be appreciated.
    Thank you, Scott

  • How to run save for web and contact sheets at the same time

    Hi
my question is simple and a means to save time-
Lets suppose I have 3 camera images and I want to run either save for web applications on 2 cameras at the same time, how/can i do that to save time or lets say contact sheet action on 1 and save for web on the other to save time or photoshop files and this runs in the background?
would really help save me time.

Even if you could run the three process in the background at the same time I do not think the duration of the total execution time would be any shorter. You would still be executing the same number of processor instruction reading and writing the same number of files. If the whole processor was constrained by the processing power running them cuncurrenly may increase the processing time because of contention for the processor. If the processes are IO bound that will not change a overlaping the processes may cause more hard disk seaking because of contention of the hard disk arm.

  • CS3 and Contact Sheet error?

I'm getting a program error when I try to do automated contact sheets in CS3. If I leave the filename/caption off then it works fine otherwise it makes the contact sheets and then repeatedly shows the error message. I'm on an Intel Mac Pro. Has anyone else had this problem or do you have any suggestions? Thanks.

    Neil,
Ahem! Steve's post is at couple of months old.

    Brian,
Did you notice that Steve received
    no replies at all?
That's because there are no clairvoyants and/or mind readers here. :/
Like you, he did not indicate what exact version of Photoshop CS3 he's using, what OS, what machine, how much RAM, etc.

  • Automation tools and contact sheets

I just bought PSE 6 . In the last version I owned I could go to "automation tools " and make a contact sheet. In this version I can see "automation tools" but it won't light up... I can't access it. Why is it there if I can't use it? It is really frustrating! Is there another way to make a contact sheet? I tried the on-line help, but it only had a way I could make sheets to print on my own computer. I want to save sheets and print them at my lab.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

The plug ins are exactly the same as you probably already have in CS3. So you merely have to move them from the CS3 to the CS4 plug ins folder. John's link is another way of getting them.
On mac you never need to uninstall the previous version of Photoshop when upgrading to a new one. There are many other reasons to keep older versions installed. Most importantly due to aherm, what I assume to be 'staffing issues', and other problems - upgrades are NOT 100% RELIABLE these days. Sometimes, like in this case, changes made to Photoshop are not the most helpful. So its always good to keep old versions hanging around.

  • CS4 Bridge - Image and Contact Sheet Problems (Windoze)

Problem #1: Out of shear chance, the first directory that I picked on that contains press images, resulted in Bridge not displaying thumbnails, or even being able to work with the image, because Bridge declares that the JPEG file is not a JPEG image. But, here is the kicker, when creating the thumbnails, it does briefly display a thumbnail before replacing it with the JPEG icon. There is nothing wrong with the images as Photoshop CS4 has no problem working with the same images. Double-clicking on the JPEG icon in Bridge results is it calling Photoshop to display the image. Lastly the images were created with Photoshop CS3 on a MAC, as indicated in the EXIF data. I haven't tracked down a pattern yet, as I just installed the software last night. Even so, there is no way that Bridge should have trouble reading CS3 produced JPEG images, but it does.
Problem #2: With the old contact sheet method, one could tell the plugin to include all sub-directories. I can't find a way to get Bridge to do the same thing. If it is there, it certainly is not user friendly. There was nothing online, or in the manual, about how to do that. While I like the idea of producing a PDF of the contact sheets, getting there is not so simple. I'm new to Bridge, having never having the need to use it prior to this release.
Any help with these two problems will be appreciated.

If Bridge can not show the thumbnail, Output workspace can not generate the PDF or web gallery for this image. Because it use the Bridge's DOM to process those images.
For the subfolder issue, you could use the Bridge's 'Show Items from sub-folder'. You could find this option from the directly path list at the tool bar, or from Menu View->Show Items from submenu.

  • How to fix black sidebar and contact sheet in Preview?

How can I fix a bug or setting in the Preview app that is making the sidebar or contact sheet solid black. Whenever I try to view thumbnails in the side bar, it is just a black column with no previews. If I choose contact sheet, the same thing happens in the main window.

Can't figure out how to do that by using the mouse only other than clicking one of the view mode boxes in the toolbar -
In Preview's Preferences, you can set PDF's to always open with the sidebar active.

  • Contact sheet and photomerge not working

I run Creative Cloud at a college and I'm trying to get the photo merge and contact sheet functions working in photoshop CC 2014
I can run it from an administrator account but not the student accounts, where permissions are limited. The students get a dialog box like the following:
This leads me to believe its a permissions error and I've run a procmon trace to try and find out where where the permissions need to be but I can't see anything that stands out. Is there a list of folders/filetypes that need to be able to run?

It seems to be using ExtendScript.dll according to procmon.
    It is trying to find:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2014\Presets\Scripts\ContactSheetII\ContactSheetII_en_GB.dat.LNK
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2014\Presets\Scripts\ContactSheetII\ContactSheetII_en_GB.dat
which both don't exist on the filesystem as there is no ContactSheetII folder containing them.
It tries to do this about 100 times before (I assume) failing

  • Preserving transparency using Contact Sheet II or similar

Hoping someone can help with this.
We currently print using a flat bed ink jet printer CMYK++(fixative) capable of printing several images at one time.
We create the file using PS then use bridge and contact sheet II to create the print ready document.
The issue is that contact sheet II makes you select a colour for the background of the document.
If we choee white when we export as a PDF the printer interprets the white area as "coloured pixels" and prints our fixative ink over the entire background rather than under the pixel of the image.
I need to be able to use a contact sheet type solution but be able to preservice the background transparency to stop this from happening.
    Any suggestion?

Contact Sheet II runs just like an action, so even though the end result is a flattened image, there are still history steps in that image. The last step should be that flattening. So if you open the History panel directly after creating a contact sheet, you should be able to undo the flatten. Then you can simply delete the backgroung layer (which is filled with the color of your choice). Then you can print, the areas around your thumbnails will remain transparent. Do not re-flatten the image after deleting the background layer as this will create a new background layer, and no transparent pixels are allowed in the background layer.

  • Bridge - Photoshop - Contact Sheet II - PLEASE HELP

I used to be able to open bridge - go to tools - photoshop - contact sheet II
now all it gives me is General Photoshop Error occurred
    I've even deleted bridge preferences
Is it a problem in Photoshop or Bridge itself?
I have tried everywhere even the forums and nobody seems to be to help
I use the contact sheet all the time to do my pages - I can do it in photoshop but Bridge is so convenient and I can rearrange my pictures the way I want them to.
We have other machines in the office and I tried to same thing and the other machines are working fine - it's just mine.
Thank you for your prompt response,
    Marie

Are you using CS4 because you will need to install the optional "Contact Sheet II" software into Photoshop CS4.
    This Link should help:
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb404900&sliceId=2#h5
You can then Select your images in Bridge and go to Tools menu/Photoshop>Contact Sheet II
and Contact Sheet II will then open in Photoshop.

  • Printing contact sheet from iPhoto

How can I print a contact sheet from iPhoto that retains the order of photos in my album?
I've placed the photos of which I want to make a contact sheet in their own album.  I've organized them according to how I'd like them to print.  However, when I go to print/contact sheet/custom to set the number of images per page and hit the print button, the photos are reorganized according the the main photo folder into which the images were originally imported - that is to say, by date order.

My printer does support landscape and portrait printing. It is the latest version of iPhoto 9.5.3 that only offers a minimal choice of printer, paper size and paper type. There are no formatting options available other than "Fit, Fill, Custom, 20x25cm, 13x18cm, 10x15cm and contact sheet". Another example of Appple degrading software to make it iOS compatible!
Perhaps Apple should be reading what their customers are complaining about and do something to restore the quality of their downgraded software.

  • Contact sheet slider has disappeared

When I go to print a contact sheet, I no longer see a slider which allow me to print 2, 3, 4 or 5 across on a page. No slider means that contact sheet gives me a set 3 across on a page and I must have 2 across so the images are larger.
What to do? I have to send out business presentations that are late because of this. thanks for advice!

select the photos and click print - select the printer and paper size and contact sheet - click customize and the "columns" slider is in the tool bar toward the left
If it is not there on the customize window A good general step for strange issues is to renew the iPhoto preference file - quit iPhoto and go to "your user name" ==> library ==> preferences ==> com.apple.iPhoto.plist and trash it - launch iPhoto which creates a fresh new default preference file and reset any personal preferences you have changed and if you have moved the iPhoto library repoint to it. This may help
This does not affect your photos or any database information (keywords, faces, places, ratings, etc) in any way - they are stored in the iPhoto library - the iPhoto preference file simply controls how iPhoto works - which is why renewing it is a good first step.

  • Contact sheets-meta data not printing

On contact sheets the meta data I choose to print (Apsect Ratio, Master Pixel Size, etc etc) only prints the begining of each line, and ends with an"..." For example I get "File Size 9..." or "Pixel Size 2048 x 225..."
This happens despite the amount of rows, columns and print size of the images.
I need to see the full data on my proof prints and contact sheets.
Any ideas why it's not printing complete meta content?
    Thanks
