Catalog Application for Bridge

A thought and request for suggestions:
I find the PSE4 Organizer useful to tag and catalog images. PSE4 has two features I find very helpful: the ability to drag and drop files for tags; and the use of a photo well (ability to view images across mulitple file directories).
I have read suggestions in this Forum that indicate Bridge is not a catalog appliation. I can accept that -- yet I suggest/encourage Adobe to integrate these features into a companion product or Bridge module that can be used to catalog files.
Specifically, I have DNG files I want to catalog using the metadata within the DNG file. I don't want to use a sidecar file nor do I want to be beholden to a catalog database for the metadata keywords/tags and descriptions for these photos. My goal is to have a DNG file that stands independent -- with a metadata section containing keywords and descriptions. I acheieve this using Bridge keywords and descritpions right now.
I have tried the new PSE4 organizer to see if I can push tags and descriptions back to the DNG files -- no success yet. It is trivial to push keywords and descritpions in the DNG metadata (created in Bridge) to PSE4 organizer and I am using the PSE4 organizer along with my CS2 suite. Is the ability to push keywords to tags a one-way street? (PSE4 has a File/Write Tags to File command but in my attempts it does not push these to the DNG metadata.)
Absent the edits that can be made in Bridge for cataloging, does anyone agree that a companion product would be helpful? If there is a product that does this already, please let me know.
ddm

This is a follow-up post. I am successful using the File/Write Tags to file function for JPEG images. However, the fucniton does not appear to work for DNG images.
As for captions/descriptions, I don't see a way to push the caption in PSE4 to the description field in the metadata for either a JPEG or a DNG image.
I am posting this feautre here becuase I don't know if these are Bridge features or the companion catalog program features.

    Hi,
not quite sure the question is clear. The add cart command is a link defined in the JSPX file
    <af:commandLink partialSubmit="true"
    actionListener="#{shoppingCartBean.addItemToCart}"
    id="cl3">
    that points to
    public void addItemToCart(ActionEvent evt) {
    Map attributes = evt.getComponent().getAttributes();
    invokeUpdateOp(new Integer(attributes.get( PRODUCT_ID_COL )+ ""));
in StoreFrontModule\StorefrontUI\src\oracle\fodemo\storefront\cart\view\managed\ShoppingCartBean.java . This is where you follow up then.

I can only assume you mean how to create the catalog items. Here I suggest you look at the demo source as this is what the demo is for. If you are new to ADF, I recommend that you first run a tutorial from here
    If you are on 11g R1: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/jdev/overview/index-100269.html
    If you are on 11g R2: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E18941_01/tutorials/toc.htm
No demo can replace proper learning, to be honest

  • Mini Bridge PS CS6 "Waiting for Bridge"? mac os x 10.8.3

Mini bridge says "waiting for Bridge" II removed /library/application Support/Adobe/Switchborard folder and alo the switch board preference file in home directory, restarted computer, etc and message changed from "no items found" to "Waiting for Bridge"

Hi Curt Y, Thanks for replaying, it actually "Quits unexpectedly", which one is the option botton?, I tried, cmd + shift, and cmd, shift + ctrl, didn't work.
I'm working on a project in which I have to name several pictures, and I just drag them into a template in PSD and change the name, could the amount of images I'm working have something to the with the quitting?
    Thanks again!

  • Mini Bridge "Waiting for Bridge" error Macintosh

We'd been having this error on a couple of our computers and none of the steps in the KB article http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/error-waiting-for-bridge-cs5.html are working.
We initally set up one computer to be used as our master image. Once we had things working the way we wanted on this computer we cloned the drive using Carbon Copy Cloner and distributed the master image to 3 other computers for testing. Mini Bridge was working fine on the master image. Once we cloned the master we changed the name of the default user account to our intended user's name following Apple's directions for changing user account names. Mini Bridge did not work on any of the user accounts on the cloned computers even those accounts whose names did not change. I even tried creating a new test account and it still does not work.
I've been doing some experimenting removing various Adobe related files and then trying to use the Mini Bridge until I figured out what worked. What I found was I could go to Library/Application Support/Adobe, and using Get Info, make the default user the owner of the Adobe folder. (They already had read/write permissions.) After that they are able to use the Mini Bridge. However, none of my other user accounts can work with the Mini Bridge since they are not owners of the Adobe folder. It seems that Mini Bridge is only able to function if the current user is also the owner of the Adobe folder?
I looked at the permissions on the master for the Adobe folder and it said it was owned by root and belonged to the admin group. On the cloned images it states that it is owned by the default user and belongs to the staff group. I tried using Terminal and changed the owner and group to root and admin as it was on the master, but that didn't make any difference. It will still only work if the default user is actually made the owner of the folder.
We will be cloning several more computers this way and I'd like to figure out why this is not working and see if there is a way to make it work for all users of the computer. I am sure something is happening with permissions on the Adobe folder when the user account is renamed on the clone, however I also did a group of 4 laptops this same way and those cloned computers all work fine under all user accounts.

    Omke,
Thanks for the suggestions. I finally got it working today.
We've been using Bridge for quite a while but the Mini Bridge is new to us as we are just now updating to CS5. I did notice a bit of lag time with Mini Bridge and sometimes it didn't want to display the items on networked drives, but if I hit the backward and forward arrows it would work, so maybe just a screen redraw issue or something there, but other than that it seems to be working ok over our network for now.
Your tip about having only one copy of Bridge open at a time was the key. We have been able to open the same program on multiple user accounts simultaneously before, but I can't say that we have with Bridge. I didn't notice it at first but when you choose Mini Bridge in InDesign it is actually opening the full Bridge in the background though it doesn't open the Bridge window, but looking at my Dock I see where it has been launched. When I would switch to another user account to test the Mini Bridge I wasn't closing out of Bridge in the first account, since I didn't realize it was open, so I'm assuming since it was still open there it could not launch it under the second user. Once I closed out of Bridge on the first account it worked fine on the second.
So think we have it resolved now.
Thanks so much for the tip! This has been driving me crazy for a day and a half. Now I can get on with my other computer set-ups.
By the way, we are ok on the number of CS copies floating around, we have a volume license. :-)

  • I am trying to use the Mini Bridge in Adobe Photoshop CS6 (desktop) and all I get is "Waiting for Bridge CS6 ..." in the panel at the bottom of the screen.

I am running on a Core i7 iMac with 20GB or RAM and have already done the two applicable steps in the main Adobe  help area relating to Switchboard (Error: Waiting for Bridge | Mini Bridge panel) to no avail. Any ideas?

Have you tried to start the bridge CS6  then open Photoshop CS6 try to use the mini bridge.
I have a problem on windows too.  Sometimes when I open CS6 version 13.1.2 and try to use the mini bridge Its panels has a message Bridge must be running and there is a launch bridge button. When I use that button Bridge  gets launched but may hangs before displaying its application window or anything in the mini bridge panel.  I can terminate the bridge when this happens with windows task manager and start the bridge. After doing that the mini bridge launch button became a reconnect button using it mini bridge then work.
I can also start Bridge CS6 before  Photoshop CS6 and mini bridge works as soon as Photoshop is up and running.

Have you checked that your Adobe version is compatible with your OS - 10.5.8 is a bit old; you should consider updating to Snow Leopard regardless. You can buy the retail disk at online resellers or the Apple Store for $29. It'll be at version 10.6.3 or .4; you can then update to the latest via Software Update to 10.6.8.
In the meantime, you might want to consider to also contact Adobe; ask about the compatibility and if they want to see the report.

  • SQL query to fetch the catalog category for a PLM item

    Hi All,
Can anyone help me with a sql query of how we can fetch the catalog category for a PLM item.
    Regards,
    Shruti

    Hi,
You could monitor the SMSProv.log when you check the category of an application. It shows that SQL query the SCCM provider used is related to function fn_ListCategoryInstances.
    Best Regards,
    Joyce

  • Q: How can I install extensions for Bridge CS6?

Because Bridge CS6 is not supported by Extension Manager anymore, you have to install them manually.
For MXP extension, you can convert it to ZXP extensions with Extension Manager CS6. Then try steps below.
For ZXP extension, use utility software such as 7-zip, WinZip or WinRAR to extract it to a folder. If there is no mxi file after extraction, then it is a CSXS extension.
For CSXS ZXP extension,  move the folder to following folder.
        Windows: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\CS6ServiceManager\extensions\"
        Mac: "/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CS6ServiceManager/extensions/"
For non-CSXS ZXP extension, check the content of the MXI file. Copy all source files defined in "..." to the corresponding destination folders manually. If you are not sure where these files should be copied, please paste the mxi file here.

I just want to correct one comment made here that said that Extension Mnager did not support extensions for Bridge. In fact it is Bridge CS6 (not Extension Manager CS6) that does not support CS Extensions (or Flash Extensions).

  • Waiting For Bridge CS6 when selecting MiniBridge in Photoshop (win)

Mini-Bridge does not load any files.  (Windows 7)
All I get is the dreaded "Waiting for Bridge CS6..." message where the image thumbnails should be.
Yes, yes... I did open Bridge CS6 manually and it works fine.

Same exact symptons here. System info if that helps.

  • Contact sheet 2 for bridge CS5

Contact Sheet 2 for Bridge has disappear from Bridge CS 5. Does someone know where I can get the plugin? Right know I have to go back to Bridge CS4 which is pretty annoying in my process. Thanks

Contact Sheet 2 for Bridge has disappear from Bridge CS 5. Does someone know
where I can get the plugin? Right know I have to go back to Bridge CS4 which
is pretty annoying in my process. Thanks
It did not disappear from CS5 but already from CS4 and has been replaced
    with the Output Module.
Only downside of the Output Module is you can only save them as a PDF file
but for the rest you have far more options to create your own customized
template (and in CS5 save this templates) for far more superior contact
    sheets.
You did already placed the old contact script in the CS4 edition by
yourself. There is a workaround to get it again in CS5 only you have to use
PSCS5 in 32-bit mode because the old and long ago discontinued Contact Sheet
script is not compatible with the 64 bit mode PSCS5 is written in.
    Find your CS4 Contactsheet plugin (Apllications / PSCS4 / Plug-ins/Automate/
ContactSheetII.plugin) and copy this to the same path in CS5
Wiith PSCS5 closed select the application icon and choose get info. Inhere
put a checkmark in front of 'start in 32 bit mode'.
See also this Knowledge base article:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4047
To be honest, I was not pleased either first time they dropped
ContactSheetII. But after heaving explored the Output Module in Bridge and
getting used to it's nice options I really don't want to go back to the old
    script...

  • Catalog Browser for iPhone (Accessing BI data from iPhone)

    Hi All,
There is a prototype from innovative centre called "Catalog Browser for iPhone" which is used for accessing BI data from iPhone. Do anyone have any idea if this is ever productized for sale by SAP??
Is there any other approach for accessing BI data from iPhone? Any help will be highly appreciable.
    Thanks,
    Raja Sekhar K

    Hello Damondhar,
I agree with Mr. Villalba, you should use the information brodcaster to broadcast precalucated views or workbooks to Knowledge Management in the portal. This can be done by events, e.g monthly. Your external users will then have accees to the directory in which the reports are saved (through KM iviews).
    Have you read on help.sap.com,
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/index.htm -> SAP Netweaver by Key Capability -> Information Integration -> Information integration .. -> Business Intelligence -> BI Suite: Business Explorer ->  Integration of BI Content in Portal
    And
BEx Web Application or Query As Document or Link in KM, http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/bc/7efa40dd14f06fe10000000a1550b0/content.htm

  • Only one DB for Bridge & Lightroom

I would love to see ONE single database for bridge & lightroom. So whatever you change in LR is seen in bridge CS3 and vice versa. This would save time and diskspace. I am a semi pro and have about 10.000 pics in my archive
    Cheers
    Stephan from Germany

Yeah...all programs use one, of one sort or another, including RSP. But Bridge isn't database *centric* (at least by my definition), but rather the DB is used behind the scenes for the application to keep track of things, caching, etc. On the other hand, LR is DB centric since you actively see and manage the database through the user interface.

  • Catalog application on IOS

    Hi All,
My customer has implemented an E-Commerce webshop solution which integrates to CRM (using TREX etc.).
However, there is a recent requirement to view the webshop on an iPad.
Most of the webshop works As Is but the pictures in the catalog application does not scrol beyond 2 pictures.
We have tried resizing the pictures to no avail - it seems SAP has set in a standard width for each line item in the Catalog.
Experts, can you please let me know any solutions available?
We are quite flexible with what can be done e.g. set Products per view to be 2, resize pictures etc.

Many apps need to be updated to run well on iOS 6. I get a notice about an available update almost any day.
But I've not really noticed too many crashed since updating to iOS 6 so I suspect that you are experiencing some unusual behavior.
First thing to try is a reboot of your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the devise restart. See if that fixes your problem.

    Hello,
The Windows Desktop Perfmon and Diagnostic tools forum is to discuss performance monitor (perfmon), resource monitor (resmon), and task manager, focusing on HOW-TO, Errors/Problems, and usage scenarios.
As the question is off topic here, I am moving it to the
