Catalog backup getting Error resolving host - unknown host name in dataset

I have new install of OSB version 10.3.0.1.0 [Admin, Mediaserver, Client] installed on the same OEL server. My Catalog Backup jobs end up with error " unknown host name in dataset" and the job detail shows only "Error resolving host - unknown host name in dataset" while I can ping the admin host with obtool pingh command. The standard auto created Catalog backup dataset looks like this:
Dataset: OSB-CATALOG-DS
# Dataset for backing up the OSB Catalog on this administrative host
include catalog
I am able to create a separate dataset with the hostname defined and able to backup filesystems on the same host, np . Only the catalog backup from system generated dataset and schedule doesn't run. I appreciate any help or tip to make this catalog backup work. Thanks.

This problem is fixed by just restarting observiced on admin server.

    Do you really mean MB (megabytes) or GB (gigabytes) ?
    Even if its GB, the free space may be enough, depending on your files size, especially with videos or raw files.
    When you start the backup process, it first shows you the total size of the catalog.

    Hello All,
    While triggering offline backup getting the below error

    How to proceed in this case.
    Kindly assist.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Sridhar

    State 0x4000 means Offline and Not Accessible. A table space is in this state if there is a problem with one or more of its containers. A container might be inadvertently renamed, moved, or damaged.
    You need first check on OS level whether the disk has been damanged.
    After the problem has been rectified, and the containers that are associated with the table space are accessible again, this abnormal state can be removed by disconnecting all applications from the database and then reconnecting to the database. Alternatively, you can issue an ALTER TABLESPACE statement, specifying the SWITCH ONLINE clause, to remove the Offline and Not Accessible state from the table space without disconnecting other applications from the database.
    If the error can not be fixed, you may need database restore, at least tablespace restore to rescue the database.

    I am not sure about the severity of the error. I can observe the error message almost every minute in the Log file and I have the impression that this message occours more often before the portal has more "problems" in general and is for a short time not accecible (it freezes and sometimes a java server restarts itself). I am asking myself if this error message could give a hint for the system crash we have had today. (a restart of the host was needed.)
    However I would like to know what causes the error message?
    It is a critical error message? It means can it cause a system crash? Or is it not important?
    What can I do to solve the problem?
    I appreciate your helful answers.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Ping: cannot resolve localhost: Unknown host

    Anybody have an idea on how to resolve this issue????  It just happened in the last week and I apparently cannot connect to a certain program....

    Ok try this on the terminal:
    sudo nano /private/etc/hosts
    You will need your password to see the host table.
    Mine looks like this .. as you see localhost points to the ping address that you used and worked. You may be missing that and therefore "ping localhost" fails why "ping 127.0.0.1" works:
    # Host Database
    # localhost is used to configure the loopback interface
    # when the system is booting.  Do not change this entry.
    127.0.0.1       localhost
    255.255.255.255 broadcasthost
    ::1             localhost

    Hi,
    The issue could be due to the update packages got corrupted.  So it is failing to deploy the package and also resolve the execution update and package. We need to replace the files from the DVD. So the only option is to do an in place upgrade.

  • Can't backup- getting error 109

    The first time time capsule was backing up my machine it got interrupted and now will not backup. It stalls out after making the backup disk available and gives this error:
    The backup disk image “/Volumes/Data/computerdrivename.sparsebundle” could not be accessed (error 109).
    Anyone familiar with that error?

    Hi, and welcome to the forums.
    You need to know that, although many folks do it (including me), Time Machine backups via Airport Extremes doesn't always work and is +*not officially supported+* by Apple: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.6/en/15139.html
    You may be able to get it to work by using some of the same things that often work on Time Capsules:
    Change your Computer and LocalHost names (via System Preferences > Sharing); and your Airport Extreme and Network names (via Airport Utility). Keep them relatively short, and use only letters and numbers -- avoid punctuation, spaces, and special characters.
    Do a "full reset" of Time Machine, per #A4 of the Time Machine - Troubleshooting *User Tip,* also at the top of the +Time Machine+ forum.
    Try the things in #D2 of the Troubleshooting Tip.

  • When I click a backup date to restore bookmarks from backup, get error message "unable to process the backup file". unable to successfully copy bookmarks from default profile to new profile, nor access the backup function successfully. any suggestions?

    I had trouble with WiseStamp and was advised to create a new profile. I did and the WiseStamp issue was resolved. However, I now have no bookmarks on the new profile. I copied the places. file from the old profile to the new one, but with no success. The bookmarks do exist on the old profile. I like having WiseStamp working, but need those multitude of bookmarks more! Any advice greatly appreciated. :)

    Did you try to restore from another JSON backup?
    You can try to move places.sqlite to another location and only leave that backup file in the bookmarkbackups folder.

  • Getting error message "dyld: unknown required load demand 0x80000022" with multiple applications.

    When using programs such as Evom I keep getting this error message:
    "Failed. dyld: unkown required load demand 0x80000022"
    How do I fix this?

    You should contact the developer of this application. Only the developer can fix this. The application was incorrectly built on a OS X 10.6 machine for a OS X 10.5 machine. The developer can fix this by considering three things:
    Using the correct compiler parameters:
    gcc-4.2 -mmacosx-version-min=10.5 -isysroot /Developer/SDKs/MacOSX10.5.sdk ...
    Using the correct linker settings (setting environment variable before link command). This is required, so that the OS X 10.6 linker will not use the loader command 'LC_DYLD_INFO_ONLY' (=0x80000022), because OS X 10.5 does not understand this command:
    export MACOSX_DEPLOYMENT_TARGET=10.5
    (or   setenv MACOSX_DEPLOYMENT_TARGET=10.5)
    After this is fixed, one can check if the application was correctly built for OS X 10.5 by running 'otool':
    otool -l binary
    The correct binary should not contain any  'LC_DYLD_INFO_ONLY' load commands (only 'LC_DYLD_INFO' commands).

  • Downloaded Itunes 11.  Get error message :  An unknown error (-15006) occurred while connecting to Airplay device "Apple TV".  Same message when connecting to my Airport express device connected to stereo.

    I have third party Airfoil.  All devices and connections are working when I choose Itunes as the source in this program- but not in Itunes itself.  I have tried basics - resetting everything - but this was not successful

    As an update, tried to connect from a Macbook Pro with an older ITunes and all devices show up, connect and work fine.

  • External programs get error 1006 using local server name

    I have a brand new Solution Manager EHP1 installation on Windows 2003sp2/SQL.
    The installation succeeded ok, but I cannot configure STMS.
    The reason appears to be that external commands (i.e. tp) are not working correctly.
    If I execute in SM49 the external command 'ENV' and use the default host, it fails with error 1006
    If I specify the target host and use the 'short' name of the host, e.g. SAPSMT it fails with the same error
    If I specify the target host and use the fqdn of the host e.g. SAPSMT.saproot.local it works ok.
    If I specify the target host as 'localhost' it also works ok.
    The 'HOSTNAME' command responds with SAPSMT
    There is only a single NIC, so its not anything to do with multiple NICs.
    I'm running the latest kernel and sapxpg now and it still acts the same.
    Type 3 RFC destinations to SAPSMT work ok.
    I can't really get anything else to fail: just external commands with the short name (or default) as the target.
    Has anyone seen this before and have a solution or workaround?
    I am almost sure it will be a windows configuration problem, but I can't see what it could be.
    Thanks, Andy.

    Hi Pradi,
    there are no entries in the HOSTS file related to this.
    I do think this is the right area: here is the output of niping, which is suggesting that the address lookup of the ip address goes to the fully qualified domain name rather than the hostname.
    E:\usr\sap\SMT\DVEBMGS00\exe>niping -v -H SAPSMT
    Hostname/Nodeaddr verification:
    ===============================
    Hostname of local computer: SAPSMT                        (NiMyHostName)
    Lookup of hostname: SAPSMT                                (NiHostToAddr)
        --> IP-Addr.: 10.115.227.36
    Lookup of IP-Addr.: 10.115.227.36                         (NiAddrToHost)
        --> Hostname: SAPSMT.saproot.local
    Lookup of hostname: SAPSMT                                (NiHostToAddr)
        --> IP-Addr.: 10.115.227.36
    Lookup of IP-Addr.: 10.115.227.36                         (NiAddrToHost)
        --> Hostname: SAPSMT.saproot.local
    If I add the hostname SAPSMT to the hosts file (together with the alias as you suggested), it then gives:
    E:\usr\sap\SMT\DVEBMGS00\exe>niping -v -H SAPSMT
    Hostname/Nodeaddr verification:
    ===============================
    Hostname of local computer: SAPSMT                        (NiMyHostName)
    Lookup of hostname: SAPSMT                                (NiHostToAddr)
        --> IP-Addr.: 10.115.227.36
    Lookup of IP-Addr.: 10.115.227.36                         (NiAddrToHost)
        --> Hostname: SAPSMT
    Lookup of hostname: SAPSMT                                (NiHostToAddr)
        --> IP-Addr.: 10.115.227.36
    Lookup of IP-Addr.: 10.115.227.36                         (NiAddrToHost)
        --> Hostname: SAPSMT
    However, having made this change and restarted, I still get the problem.
    Thanks for the help, by the way.

  • Get error when passing a server name to Crystal Report

    I am developing a desktop application using VS 2012 with CRforVS_13_0_9 and CRRuntime_64bit_13_0_10 installed.  The database is SQL Server 2012 Express.  I use SQL OLEDB in Crystal Report to connect the SQL database.  Here is part of the codes.
    Dim crTableLogoninfo As New TableLogOnInfo
    Dim crConnectionInfo As New ConnectionInfo
    Dim crTables As Tables
    Dim crTable As Table
    With crConnectionInfo
    .ServerName = Login.sServer
    .DatabaseName = Login.sDatabase
    .UserID = Login.sDBUserID
    .Password = Login.sDBPassword
    End With
    Try
    crTables = CReport.Database.Tables
    For Each crTable In crTables
    crTableLogoninfo = crTable.LogOnInfo
    crTableLogoninfo.ConnectionInfo = crConnectionInfo
    crTable.ApplyLogOnInfo(crTableLogoninfo)
    Next
    CrystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = Nothing
    CrystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = CReport
    I get an error "Failed to open connection -- Database vendor code 17" when I run a Crystal Reports through my application.  The problem is Crystal Reports does not like the server name which is passed.  The purpose for passing a server name is to connect to different server if needed.  I am not 100% sure the error occurs after VS 2012 or SQL Server 2012 express was updated.
    Any ideas how I can fix this problem?
    Thanks,
    John

    Hi John
    First, you want to check the error code in your database documentation. The error is being passed from the db client through the report engine totally unmodified. Googling the error will also be a good idea.
    And, seeing as you are using SQL Server 2012, make absolutely sure that the SQL Native 11 client is installed.

  • When starting up iTunes, getting error message "A duplicate file name was specified"

    Downloaded recent version of itunes, and started recieving the error, tried all the fixes mentioned on here and the internet. Even after reformating the HD, installing a different version of windows (W7), and installingf iTunes, still getting the error.  This is not allowing me to authorize the machine or sync the iPhone.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    PS - there is no third party software and describe in some troubleshooting notes.
    Thank you in advance.

    I have a 27" iMac with the latest version of iTunes.  I tried restoring my iPod and even removing and re-installing iTunes.  What eventually worked for me was plugging into my PC and restoring/reformatting it to work with my PC.  I don't know why it wouldn't work with my iMac, but now it seems to be working.

    I am presuming that you are using Oracle eBS 12.x (?)
    The error you are stating is not a standard error that is known within Oracle metalink. However, searching on bits of the error I found something that looks alike however is related to OTL. For this issue Oracle delivered a one-time patch. This might be the solution in your case also. Please do refer to note: 1216843.1
    A second error that looks like this is also mentiond in iRecruitment and also for this Oracle has provided a patch. Please refer to note: 1185594.1
    Guess you will have to open an incident for this one at metalink. Please do keep us posted.
    Regards,
    Johan Louwers.
