Catalog Metadata Storage in OBIEE

Hi,
I there any back end table in which data related to catalog. i.e report name,report path in catalog will be stored?
if not in table,where else we will be able to get the metadata related to catalog?

Please check the S_NQ_ACCT table in the BI_Platform Schema.

  • Import from catalog - Metadata

    Hi
    I have exported a bunch of images as catalog on my desktop PC. On my laptop I import this catalog into an existing catalog.
    So far, everything as expected. However, on all images that I have added this way I get a metadata warning. I have not set to write metadata to xmp on my laptop nor on the desktop. If I tell it to correct the issue, it writes an xmp.
    To my understanding it should simply store the metadata to the catalog and not asking for writing an xmp if not set in the preferences.
    What did I miss?
    Thanks,
    McL
    btw: I am on 5.4 on Win7

    If on the metadata warning badge the arrow is pointing down, then really there isn't an issue to correct. Because you don't automatically write XMP, then as soon as any metadata change is made to an image the metadata status becomes "Lightroom catalog metadata is newer than the original file", which is just what that badge is telling you.
    For those users who have the autowrite to XMP option enabled in the Catalog settings, this warning should not be seen as the catalog and file metadata should always be in sync. For those users who do NOT have autowrite to XMP enabled. but who DO like to manually save the metadata via the Ctrl+S command, this metadata status indicator is a useful way for them to determine that metadata has been updated and they need to do that Ctrl+S.
    For those users like me who never write XMP to their files, nor open their files in other programs outside Lightroom, that warning is redundant. Fortunately Lightroom allows us to disable that warning badge via the View Options menu, which is what I do.....
    So perhaps you simply have the View Option set differently on the two systems?

  • How to create OLAP Catalog Metadata from Analytic Workspace

    Hi,
    How to create OLAP Catalog Metadata objects automatically from Analytic Workspace, not using CWM2_OLAP_AW_OBJECT package.
    Is there tool for it?

    Analytic Workspace Manager is the supported tool from Oracle for creating OLAP catalog metadata (plus the SQL views required for BI Beans). Hopefully this should be out in June as an additional download following the 9.2.0.3x patch.
    However you might want to look at IAF Software's "Coaster" product (http://www.iafsoft.com/products/coaster.htm) which also contains functionality to create the OLAP Catalog. We've had a play around with it and have been impressed.

  • ORA-01339: LogMiner BUILD: Error copying system catalog metadata to LogMiner

    Hi, has anyone ever got this error in 11.2.0.3 primary database while trying to convert a physical standby to a logical standby?
    Thanks

    Per the documentation:
    4.2 Step-by-Step Instructions for Creating a Logical Standby Database
    Creating a Logical Standby Database
    4.2.2 Stop Redo Apply on the Physical Standby Database
    SQL> ALTER DATABASE RECOVER MANAGED STANDBY DATABASE CANCEL;
    4.2.3.1 Prepare the Primary Database for Role Transitions
    Has you adjust primary database init.ora parameters to be prepared for switchovers.
    4.2.3.2 Build a Dictionary in the Redo Data
    SQL> EXECUTE DBMS_LOGSTDBY.BUILD;
    this puts a Multi-vertion Data Dictionary (MVDD) is the archive logs that are sent to the standby.
    This is what fails with:
    SQL> exec dbms_logstdby.build ;
    BEGIN dbms_logstdby.build ; END;
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-01339: LogMiner BUILD: Error copying system catalog metadata to LogMiner dictionary
    ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_LOGMNR_INTERNAL", line 5972
    ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_LOGMNR_INTERNAL", line 6070
    ORA-06512: at line 1
    4.2.4.1 Convert to a Logical Standby Database
    SQL> SHUTDOWN ABORT;
    SQL> STARTUP MOUNT EXCLUSIVE;
    SQL> ALTER DATABASE RECOVER TO LOGICAL STANDBY db_name;
    this consumes the data dictionary into the standby for convertion. It is used by SQL apply to understandby object id's because the standby does not know the names of the objects that are in the primary database.
    then you add some logical standby parameters and open the database and start SQL apply.
    SQL> ALTER DATABASE OPEN RESETLOGS;
    SQL>  ALTER DATABASE START LOGICAL STANDBY APPLY IMMEDIATE;
    So running EXECUTE DBMS_LOGSTDBY.BUILD; is a standby alone process that can be tested any time. It does nothing to the primary except extract dictionary information and puts it in the archive logs.
    I find no information on DBMS_LOGSTDBY.BUILD; ever failing. It must be specific to this primary database.

  • 2 luns in the metadata storage pool

    Hi,
    I am currently using Xsan ( for redundancy ) with a volume that requires high I/O. However, I am receiving poor performance at times, with the read latency mainly. I think this is caused by the metadata storage pool (RAID 1 on its own controller) as I can see the RAID controller running at maximum most of the time.
    Would having RAID 0+1 with 4 drives or two luns in the metadata data pool with each on its own controller improve performance or would it be decremental to the SAN???
    Any advice would be appreciated
    Thanks
    Gary

    Hi,
    I am aware that one dedicated metadata lun with RAID 1 is listed as the optimal configuration and is more than adequate for most. However, I am using the volume for very large I/O with millions of file requests each day for which Xsan wasn't originally designed to do. I was aware of this at the time, but with the original intended I/O levels not really a problem. Also, as far as I can tell all hardware is acting normally with optimal configuration. I have experimented with some different settings with no major improvement.
    I have read the mentioned guide before and it is a very useful document.
    I'm not convinced that it is a configuration problem anywhere, but rather a limitation of the topology. I've got another 2 drives in now for a test to see what happens.
    Thanks for your advice.

  • ITunes metadata storage corrupted

    My iTunes metadata storage is corrupted: When I import files that include the usual metadata (Artist, Album, Composer…), they are gone in iTunes.
    Has anyone got an idea how this information is stored in iTunes and how I could repair this file without rebuilding my entire iTunes Library?
    Thanks a lot!

    Thanks, dude - I'll mark that as helpful, although I already read that article.
    Turns out my corruption was worse than I outlined. I found files that had been renamed.
    This is what I've done:
    I trashed the iTunes folder in the default location ~/Username/Music
    I reopened iTunes and went to Preferences and set the location to my external drive array
    I then went through all the files and "cleaned them up" (renamed files that needed it - created folders and put files in them - etc.)
    Now, I'm going through those folders one by one and reloading them into the Library.
    When I get finished I'll do what I SHOULD have been doing all along - making backups of that directory. Hopefully this will solve the problem.
    Thanks again for your reply

  • Improved Metadata Storage option for Smart View

    I have looked all through the manuals, but I cannot find any reference to the "Improved Metadata Storage" Smart View Option. Does anyone know what this option does and the Pros/Cons of using it?

    Thank you for responding.  I would like to resume having the "Save as PDF" option but the IE8 Browser is an older version and is unfortunately running slower and not well on some of the websites that need newer Browser versions.  I checked out Chrome and don't like Firefox and still prefer the IE Browsers by comparison.
    Is it very difficult for HP to add this handy feature back in a future HP SmartPrint release that is compatible with the IE Browser?
    Thanks!

  • Use PE Organizer or Lightroom to Catalog Videos + Storage Questions

    Hello everyone. I'm re-entering the video arena after several years and have purchased a new entry level HD camcorder and plan on using Premier Elements for editing home videos. Nothing professional, just home movies, youth sports, stuff like that.
    I have been an avid stills photographer however and have defined a workflow that I'm comfortable with. With stills - usually RAW files, I import them to an external hard drive first, import them into Lightroom, then proceed to catalog and keyword them appropriately.
    Question 1: I know my way around Lightroom and it does allow for the cataloging and keywording of video files. I see that PE 12 has an organizer built into the program. Is there any advantage of me using PE's Organizer over Lightroom? They are all Adobe products, I'm just wondering if there is some sort of integration between PE's Organizer and Editor that will buy me an easier workflow or not. Otherwise I'll just use Lightroom.
    Question 2: So a few years back I was taking videos with a DV camcorder, importing the video, editing it, burning a DVD, then deleting the source files AND the finished product that was burned to the DVD. I was certainly a novice and as I became more involved with photography and the technology itself, I came to realize that blowing away the finished product and relying on DVDs as storage was a bad idea. This means for those yesteryear videos I took I must hope a) that the discs never go "bad", which I know now they won't last forever, and b) that I must keep at least some machine around in the next decades that can play these discs. Yes, Blu-Ray players are backward compatible, but who knows in 20 years, right? At some point I'll try and look into capturing those DVDs back to a digital file, but that's besides the point. So I know I do not want to rely on DVDs as a "preservation" or archiving method for finished produced videos. The raw source files I'm not too worried about. I'll keep them around on an external drive and burn them to DVD-R, and worse case I'll have to roll them off the external drive if I run out of space and cannot afford a new drive right away. So my question is: a) what is the best format to store the finished video so that I am not reliant on DVDs as my primary preservation method and b) a format that I can use to re-burn a DVD or Blu-Ray disc later should I need to make additional copies and the original DVD/Blu-Ray disc is no longer available for a straight copy? The "b" portion of this question is of key importance to me right now because while I have a decent Blu-Ray player, I do not have the capabilities to burn a Blu-Ray (or even a DVD for that matter). I plan on getting a Blu-Ray burner within the next 6 months, but until then I will need to create finished videos that will eventually be turned into DVDs/Blu-Rays. What format could I store the finished product in so that I can go back and easily burn video to a DVD or Blu-Ray disc later? I would think the format would be very specific for Blu-Ray burning later especially.
    Sorry for the long post. I tried to keep it as short as possible.
    Have a great weekend!
    Jim

    Thanks for the follow ups. Sorry for the delayed response. Was thinking about your questions but got detoured several times.
    Let us start with archiving....I do not know that there is a perfect solution with changing times et al.
    1. Project Archiving would appear at face value to be a good choice
    a. preserves your source media that the project file needs to trace back to
    b. preserves the project file with all its edits so that your re-entry into the project will allow you further edits and/or alternative
    export choices.
    c. there is a concern about disc menus in archived projects but you say that the disc menu aspect of the matter is not important to you
    ATR Premiere Elements Troubleshooting: PE12: Archiving Projects With Disc Menus
    My main problem with Project Archiver is that you are dependent on being able to open the archived project file in the same version in which it was
    created or a later version...the later the version, the more the concern.
    2. When it comes to burn tos DVD, AVCHD, or Blu-ray....VIDEO_TS, BDMV, BDMV & Blu-ray disc image....
    a. The best of all worlds might be accomplished by saving the VIDEO_TS Folder from a burn to folder for DVD and saving the BDMV from a burn to folder for AVCHD. There is no Premiere Elements burn to folder for Blu-ray. Depending on the version of Premiere Elements and the computer operating system, you could try for a burn to Blu-ray disc image with Phantom Burner in conjunction with Premiere Elements.
    ATR Premiere Elements Troubleshooting: PE12: Disc Image/Phantom Burner & PE
    I would probably have more confidence on finding a program now or in the future - ImgBurn, Nero...to be available to take the VIDEO_TS, BDMV, or Blu-ray disc image to disc. You might even consider a burn to Blu-ray, followed by copying the BDMV Folder from it for archiving purposes. The video files from VIDEO_TS and BDMV are easily extracted.
    3. If preserving the edited Timeline is the target, then SD project I would probably go with DV AVI standard or widescreen, if HD, probably an AVCHD.mp4 or AVCHD.m2t.
    If Premiere Elements versions got stronger on disc image, I suspect I would go that route to preserve a project. Right now, I am doing a mix of all of the above.
    As for Lightroom, Elements Organizer, and Premiere Elements. I am not a great fan of Lightroom. Neither am I have heavy user of Elements Organizer. However, I have looked a some Lightroom tryouts along the way to see what it is all about.
    1. With regard to your use of Photoshop Elements 9 plus Lightroom, that seems consistent with the workflows suggested by others and the gains to be gotten in using the best attributes of each.
    Integrate Lightroom with Elements – Photoshop Elements User
    You would probably get greater advantage using the same version of Elements Organizer as Photoshop Elements for the sake of integration.
    Just in case note....Premiere Elements and Photoshop Elements are standalone programs, each coming with its own Elements Organizer. When Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements same versions are on the same computer they share the same Elements Organizer catalog..
    2. For me, Lightroom and Premiere Elements, unlike Photoshop Elements, and video never seemed to integrate well.
    The following is a link to some work I did with LIghtroom when I was at a forum that I no longer visit
    Lightroom 4.1 Slideshow Module Visited - Elements Village
    From my perspective, Premiere Elements integration with Elements Organizer and Photoshop Elements gives me a workflow that meets my needs.
    My camera does not record raw image format. But, if I have Camera Raw installed on my computer with Premiere Elements, I can import raw image format and dng as source media into a Premiere Elements project. For edit of the raw image format, I need the Camera Raw dialog which requires the presence of Photoshop Elements which I have.
    Please review and consider the above and then let me know if I have targeted your question.
    Thank you.

  • OWB Metadata export to OBIEE

    Background:
    I have extended the OWB metadata by adding the Business Metadata (Technical and operational metadata is there out of the box). Business metadata is expected to be maintained by business users and consists of business terms and categories and has a number of attached attributes. I will like to leverage all the metadata in OWB repository to drive my OBIEE development and production.
    Question: How can OBIEE ingest the OWB metadata, in particular the business metadata and make it available to developers and the OBIEE business users?

    Hi
    The OWB 10.2 and 11.1 releases of OWB support OBI SE (Discoverer), the OWB 11gR2 (in beta) has support for OBI EE.
    Cheers

  • Export .CSV of Catalog Metadata

    I would like to be able to show a set of photos (from a folder, collection, filtered set, or whatever), then be able to export all of the metadata for those photos into a .csv file. This would make it possible to load this information into Excel or a similar product where I could generate metrics and reports on what percentage of them time I am using a certain zoom setting, apeture, shutter speed, or what have you. Being able to retrieve this information from the catalog in this manner and to trend it over time would allow for more inteligent purchases in the futue. For example I may really want the new 600mm lens, but I shoot 97% of my photos below 100mm. I could see this info being quite handy for a number of things. On the other hand, built in reporting within Lightroom would work just as well, and it might round out the toolset that it provides.

    Check out http://pkzsoftware.tech.officelive.com/lme.aspx
    Version 2 is now available and has some of the graphs you need.

  • Invalid catalog metadata

    Hi,
    I have build an OLAP Catalog and I'm trying to access it from a BI Beans project. The connection (with the database) was successful, but there was an error: BIB10701 (error conecting metadata).

  • Storage of Obiee reports at Share point location

    Hi all,
    Could you please let me know how to store/the way to store OBIEE reports in Microsoft Share point location.
    Regards,
    Chandra kanth.

    What do you mean by that exactly? Do you mean storing the effective output of an analysis at a given point in time?
    OBIEE isn't really mean to do this but you can - on Windows - achieve this by using code snippets which fly around and execute Agents to write to a file using VB scripts. It has been covered dozens of times in this forum and a simple forum search yields multiple hits wiht the solution: http://total-bi.com/2011/08/obiee-export-reports/
    Here's an equivalent solution with Java: Archive/Export OBIEE 11g content to Shared drive by creating Agents and Invoking Java Method | OBIEE
    If you want to go an Oracle-supported way which doesn't require coding, then I suggest that you look at BIP bursting: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E28280_01/bi.1111/e22258/add_burst_def.htm#BIPDM394
    This is - for the time being - what Oracle suggests you use if you want to write to files. OBIEE as said initially isn't really meant to do that in the current version.

  • Move metadata storage?Syncronizing?

    Some questions on metadata:
    1. As I experimented with Beta 4 I seem to have adjusted some files with both Bridge/CS2 and Lightroom. What adjustments will Lightroom 1.0 use? Can I choose?
    2. My photos are all converted to DNG. In preferences I did not tick the "Automatically write changes into XMP sidecar files."
    - Are my adjustments in the Lightroom database?
    - What happends if I tick the box? Do I move adjustment data to my DNG files?
    - Is this a choice between having the adjustment info in the database or in the DNG-file? Or is it a choice between having info in a separate sidecar file or info in the DNG file?

    - Syncronize XMP

  • ITunes library.xml Metadata storage issues

    Hi all,
    I've had this problem for quite a while. My .xml file corrupts and changes to "read only", preventing any further writing. iTunes automatically creates temp files. My solution thus far has been to trash the .xml file after a restart, and trash the temp files once a new .xml file has been created, however, this only seems to be a short term solution as the problem consistently returns. Any suggestions for a permanant library.xml fix?

    no it doesnt, so for whatever reason it is not updating propely.

  • OBIEE 11G Web Services - How to find Catalog Object Type

    Hi All,
    I am trying to access the Web Catalog objects available in OBIEE 11.1.1.5 through the Web Services API. I am able to read object names in "/shared" folders using the getSubItems() web service. My objective is as follows
    1. Categorize catalog objects based on their type (Analysis, Agent, Action, Condition, etc...)
    2. If possible, read the presentation column information that each object is using
    The ItemInfoType structure only provides for types - Folders, Link, Missing, Object, etc... and does not help me in identifying the actual catalog object type. Any help on this regard is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Raj.

    Is there any solution for this? We also face similar issue recently...
