Catalog not valid

hey,
I just installed Lightroom cc,
When I try to open it, it asks me to choose a different catalog.
I get an error message saying: "The Lightroom catalog named "Lightroom catalog" cannot be opened because it is not valid. Would you like to choose different catalog?"
Then i get redirected to my documents dir, but the file there (catalog) is not valid.
Any suggestions?

Lightroom 4 catalog not valid

I am using Windows 7 home premium SP 1.
I have a working catalog that is suddenly giving me the error "this is not a valid catalog" upon opening lightroom v4. Windows shows the file size of this catalog as 0 bytes in explorer. I cannot open, repair, or import this catalog into another, new catalog.
This occurred when I restarted my computer to install updates to another (completely unrelated) program. I had been working on some photos using this catalog prior to restarting and then I discovered that my catalog was suddenly not valid and could not be opened.
I have a backup that I can use, however, I don't know why this happened in the first place. Anyone have any ideas so I can prevent this from happening in the future?

"Import Price Catalogs" fails with RATE not valid

Importing BLANKET using "Import Price Catalogs" but it fails with Error RATE cannot be null, IF I pass rate it fails with RATE not valid.

ERROR: "key not valid for use in specified state" when updating to Lightroom 5.6 in Win8.1

While doing a routine update from Lightroom 5.5 to v5.6 in Win 8.1, the installation halted at the start of the installation with the vague error message, "key not valid for use in specified state". Although v5.5 was working just fine, the install routine deleted the v5.5 application files. I rolled back to the previous system restore point (set just prior to the install) and recovered the executable files. However, now the 5.5 files won't open the default catalog, none of the backups, or even create a new catalog.
As v5.x was purchased as an update to v4.x, I've tried to reinstall the original Lightroom v4.x app from the factory disk. I get the same error.

I have a similar problem to Dan. while doing a routine upgrade from Lightroom 5.5 to 5.6 I got the
: "key not valid for use in specified state"
error and now Lightroom has completely disappeared. I've tried to uninstall, but there is nothing to uninstall. Going back to try to install the original 5.4 just results in the same error.
A problem may have been that I closed Lightroom when the upgrade started to download. It then re-opened again when the install was halfway through., I assumed that was an error and closed it. just after that the error first appeared in the installer.
I still had an older version of lightroom 4 installed. I've uninstalled it, and that didn't make any difference.
I've also tried removing anything in the registry left over from the old installs and that didn't help either.
Any suggestions?

MDM ABAP API - Language information not valid for repository

Dear all,
We're programming an interface in SAP R/3 to MDM catalog through 'MDM ABAP API's'. Automatically, it creates an RFC connection to MMD, but we're getting the following connection errorwhen executing the API:
E MDM_ABAP_API 078 Language information ENG US USA not valid for MDM repository XXXYYYZZZ*.
*where XXXYYYZZZ is the repository name.
W'e've established the connection in R/3 through transaction MDMAPIC and we've created the same user in R/3 and MDM Console.
This is the code written on the program where we are defining the language (ENG), country (US) and region (USA).
*maintain logon language information
ls_repository_language-language = 'ENG'.
ls_repository_language-country = 'US'.
**no region information needed here
ls_repository_language-region = 'USA'.
How can I see the repository language definition?
Which are the correct codes to be used for language 'English', Country 'United States' and Region 'USA'? And for other countries, like spanish language, country Spain and Region ¿spain?

The problem is now solved.
The correct languague information codes for Language Spanish, Country Spain and Region, are as follows:
Language: 'spa'
Country: 'ES'
Region: '___'
It is important to respect the CAPS, otherwise it doesn't work.

It is possible that you downloaded the Creative Cloud trial of Lightroom. The perpetual license key will not work. Uninstall the version on the second computer, this will not interfere with your catalog, preferences and personal files.
Download the appropriate version from the link below and install, your license key will be accepted and everything will be fine.

SQL Server SSIS SQL Agent Job Receiving "Option -Daily" is not valid. error message SQL Server 2008 R2

I have seen this error posted on msdn before but this seems to be a bit different. Same story. When I exec a SSIS package in BIDS it succeeds. When I run it as an agent job it fails with the error "Option -Daily" is not
valid.
Here is the script that SQL Server "New Job" wizard created.

I had to clean the above up a little bit to block restricted information. The error suggests that SQL Server is having problems parsing the string the wizard created. Any thoughts regarding what is occuring here.

Just create the new job and a new SSIS step in it.
The error message looks like too abridged, but the issue actually might be with the parts

Shared Datasource Is Not Valid Error

Using Reporting Services (SQL Server 2008 R2), I have a VS SSRS project with 23 reports, all running off the same Shared Data Source. They all execute in VS. I have deployed the datasource, datasets & reports to server. From the Report
Manager, I can execute all reports except 4, which have the same error:
The report server cannot process the report or shared dataset. The shared data source '22d600c2-a3d5-4178-8a39-d05361607ebd' for the report server or SharePoint site is not valid. Browse to the server or site and select a shared data source. (rsInvalidDataSourceReference)
I have tried the following, without success:
1)verified that the datasource exists in the Data Sources folder, and is Enabled
2) Checked and reset the Shared Datasource to point to the deployed datasource in the Data Sources folder
3) Recreated & redeployed the datasource
4) Deleted the 4 reports on the server and re-deployed
5) Deleted the reports, used Upload instead of Deploy, then set the Shared Datasource to point to the one on the server
6) Verified that the Link column in ReportServer.DataSource is NOT NULL. Actually have the same Link as the other 19 reports. Verified that the GUID in the LinkID exists in Catalog table and is the id for the Datasource.
No matter what I have tried, for some reason, the GUID in these failing reports appear to get set to '22d600c2-a3d5-4178-8a39-d05361607ebd', which does not exist in Catalog table. The other reports never fail, these reports never execute. Anyone
have any ideas?

As I recall, I went into the Report server db and updated the Catalog table. Open the table and you'll find your reports listed with a link to their datasource (in the DataSource table). I found the 4 reports that failed had a different value
in the LinkID column than the reports that executed, even though they use the same shared datasource.
So I copied the good LinkID value (a GUID) into the 4 reports that failed, and then they ran fine. For some unknown reason, there was an invalid value stuck in the LinkID column which pointed to a datasource that really did not exist.
Go figure.

Hi Mayank ,
In OO provided you have an editable grid register the event ENTER.
Once this is done you can use two methods HANDLE_DATA_CHANGE which will be entered if any data is actually changed and the user presses ENTER and HANDLE_DATA_CHANGE_FINISHED which is entered after you've done your changes.
If no data is changed then the event is not raised and you don't have to do any validation etc.Using your method with the &SAVE functionality you don't know if the user has actually entered anything or not. You'd have to validate your whole table before saving and also decide what to do on any error(s). Your table could have say 20,000 lines or more -- to validate this would definitely be a beginners way - very inefficient and totally elephantine.With the Data changed method you can work interactively and you are only dealing with changed data. You get control at data entry time which is far better than waiting until you get to SAVE and then have to decide what to do.
In these methods you should be able to examine your data and take the appropriate action.
You don't need any special toolbar functionality unless you want to say re-display the changed grid and save it to SAP tables / run transactions / create IDOCS etc etc.
I think this is actually better than using a toolbar function as there is nothing to stop the user from either pressing the toolbar when nothing has been changed or you then have to do a whole set of validation after the user has entered a whole lot of data (and you still have to get the user's data anyway).
Why not let the system give it to you in the data changed method --there you can validate it.
By all means add a toolbars for SAVE / UPDATE etc if you want.
You do this by adding the functions to the alv toolbar in ON_TOOLBAR and use the ON_USER_COMMAND method to execute the function when the toolbar button is pressed.
Look for some of my previous posts -- I've posted the code often enough.
However for the Data changed stuff.
in your program add these events, methods and handlers

just add your own code in the forms data_changed and data_changed finished.

The temporary file path is not valid. Lightroom cannot start

Windows XP, SP3, Lightroom 2.5.
External hard drive starts acting funny. Round here we expect hard drive failure, so I order a new drive and when it arrives copy the backup onto the new drive. The new drive has the same drive letter as the old one, but not the same name. When I try to open a catalog I get: "The temporary file path is not valid. Lightroom cannot start." The catalogs seem to be fine, as when I open lightroom directly, not by clicking the .lrcat file, catalogs look normal. If I copy the lrcat file to my internal hard drive it opens. If I create a new catalog on the external drive I get the same problem.
I have tried deleting the preferences file. I have tried deleteing and reinstalling lightroom. I have used the external HD on another computer with lightroom and it opens normally.
All I can imagine is that there is some setting, somewhere in the registry which does not get erased when the lightroom gets re-installed. Any guesses?

Could be your Windows tempfile path is messed up. You could try going to Control Panel/Advanced and pushing the Environment Variables button.See what the TEMP and TMP variables are set to.
Under "User Variables", both of mine are set to C:\Documents and Settings\<my name>\Local Settings\Temp.
Under "System Variables", both are set to C:\Windows\Temp.
Make sure that the directories referred to are legal and on accessible drives. Make sure they aren't read-only. It wouldn't hurt to create them if they don't exist.
It's worth a try, I think.

Upgrading from Lightroom 1 to 4.1 - catalog not recognized

I am trying to upgrade gtom LR 1.0 version to 4.1 version and my catlog is not being recognized for upgrade. I launch LR, select my NAME.IRCAT catlog and get this message: " The Ligghtroom catalog named "Lightroom Catalog" cannot be opneded because it is not valid. Would you like to select a different catalog?"
I wonder if need to upgrade to some lower version befor moving to 4.1. I have not upgraded in many years, actually I never upgraded since I first purchased LR. I finally purchased a new PC and upgraded my OS, and consequently decided to upgrade all my most important SW.

It might be worth trying to upgrade from 1.0 to 1.4.1 first, and THEN try the upgrade to LR4. You can download it from here:

Cannot activate factory unlocked iPhone 4S: SIM not valid

Hello Apple,
I have a problem with my Iphone: I purchased a factory unlocked iPhone 4S in a The Source Store in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada. I´m from Brazil but now I am living in Israel and the fact that the phone is factory unlocked was necessary for me to use it in both countries ( Brazil and Israel). After my trip to Canada, I arrived to Brazil and inserted my micro-sim into the new iPhone. It showed the "Activate iPhone" screen BUT it won’t activate. It says "SIM not valid" and "Only compatible SIM cards from a supported carrier may be used to activate iPhone. Please insert the SIM card that came with your iPhone or visit a supported carrier´s store to receive a replacement SIM card”.
Now I am living in Israel and the same situation continues: I inserted one Israelian micro-sim into the Iphone and it showed the "Activate iPhone" screen BUT it won’t activate. The Source in Canada was formally know as Radio Shack and they do sell iPhones.. Only for Bell and Virgin Canada.

What does it say on your receipt?
As Bell and Virgin do not unlock iPhones you will need to sell that phone to someone in Canada and get an unlocked phone directly from Apple.

DNG Validation "Not Validated"

I ran DNG Validation and the report indicatated: "Invalid DNG Files (0)"
However it also reported 2102 of about 12,000 dng files: "Not Validated (2102)"
I do not understand the implications to the integrity of the DNG files when Lightroom reports "Not Validated."
So, what does "Not Validated" mean, and what action needs to be taken to get the files validated, if that is appropriate?

"Not Validated" means "not able to validate due to absence of previously computed check codes". Probably the older DNGs, or in-camera DNGs... (I'm not sure of all cases). I'm pretty-sure you can "fix" this by converting from DNG to DNG using Adobe DNG Converter - take care to not resize or lossy-compress... - that will compute/store the requisite check codes. Note: you'll have to rename files, since converted files won't automatically replace originals with same filename. Lightroom will notice the check codes during next validation.
Worth noting: DNG validation doesn't really know whether raw image data is good or bad, it only knows whether it's changed since the check-codes were computed - a good reason to visually inspect before and/or after running the DNG conversion which computes the check-codes.
You can accomplish the same thing in Lightroom by converting dngs to dng, but then they'll have a different filename, so you'll still have the renaming issues to deal with (if you care how things are named I mean, and don't like the -2 uniqueness suffix appended to your filenames).
Whatever you do, try doing just one at first, then do the rest. Of course backup catalog and photos before-hand in case of trouble..
