Catalog problem ... I think

I had a problem starting the program, it gave a message about problems with online services, selected a bypass option then got a message about problem with catalog. Now I have the program to a point that it will launch but the pictures, collection and tag info are not there. The pictures are in the computer I can see them with windows explorer. What file tracks all that stuff and how can I restore it (the catalog)?

It seems there are multiple problems with your catalog.. Please do following things and share the output :
1. Delete organizer Preferences and relaunch - See http://photoshopelementsbyadobe.blogspot.com/2011/04/photoshop-elements-9-organizers.html to know know about the procedure.
2. To Catalog Repair
3. Do update thumbnail for files for which you are seeing brokeen thumbs.

iPhone warranty is not international. You will have to return your
iPhone to Saudi Arabia for repair/replacement. Either take it back
yourself or send to friend/relative for them to take to Apple. Apple
will not accept international shipments for repair nor will Apple
ship repaired/replaced iPhones out of the country where the repair
was done.

I am having the same problem I think. With mobileme you simply copy documents to the idisk folder and then synch. I cannot seem to sink that folder anymore. Any idea as to how I can simply copy folders to icloud and then access the MS Word and PDF file

Your iDisk is still accessible after moving to iCloud in exactly the same way as before. Nothing is deleted until June 30th 2012.

No, you couldn't. Firstly, nothing was deleted from your iDisk. Secondly, any files stored on your iDisk should never be your only copy. Even if your iDisk spontaneously combusted, you should keep local backups elsewhere.
Does Apple WANT people to move their storage elsewhere and stop paying Apple for it?
Yes. Apple doesn't provide such a service anymore, nor are you paying them for it.
Apple has made no effort to suggest remedies for the problem it has given iDisk users
They've provided instructions on how to download your files from your iDisk. What you do with them after that is your choice.

Lightroom Corrupt Catalog problems- Help!

Lightroom Corrupt Catalog problems reading/writing from disk when attempting to repair - Help! I have my LR box in hand and my product keys and license info but can't find the disk. I'm assuming this is the only way to repair. Suggestions, Comments are welcome and appreciated.

Corrupt catalog will not be fixed by re-installing the Lightroom software (although if I were you, I'd still find that disk!)
If I were you, I would first check a recent backup of your catalog file, and see if that will open (double-click on it in your operating system). If that opens properly, I would just use that file.
If it doesn't open properly, then one trick that sometimes works is to open a blank catalog in Lightroom, then File->Import from Another Catalog and point to the catalog file.
And if that doesn't work, please write back with a lot more details, including operating system, version of Lightroom, and much more detail abou

PS Elements catalog problems from Album Starter Edition

I have PS Elements 11 installed on my new notebook. I have copied all my photos from my old PC into the Photos folder on the notbook (running Windows7). I then imported them into PS Elements. I had them all catalogued on the PC under PS Album Starter Edition. I have copied the the catalog .psa file as suggested in the instructions & used the convert command under Elements' Manage Calalogs. Everything seemd to go as expected; all my 'Collections' came in as 'Albums' & all my Tags are there.. But none of the images are being read. All the thumbnails are the generic flower image. It seems tthe catalog is still pointing to the old D: drive on my PC& it wants me to "connect the external drive". What have I done wrong? Have can I fix this? I have nearly 9000 photos & hundreds of tags etc. I will break my heart to lose the cataloging.

The last idea I had was similar to your suggestion - to connect my new
notebook (on which I have PSE11) to the old PC (which has Starter Edition
on it), using Peer to Peer by wireless, so the notebook could see the files
on the PC.
Then Import the images into PSE11 from the "external drive" - this I
managed to do fairly easily.
Then I thought I should be able to access the Catalog file on the PC, in a
similar way from the notebook via the wireless connection.
My thinking was that it then should not be confused about where the images
were actually located; and I would then be able to send a backup
instruction from PSE11 to the files on the PC; and THEN - restore from that
backup, and using the fact that when restoring, PSE11 asks if you want to
relocate the files and catalog to a new location - and I could choose to
relocate them on the notebook.
However, although I managed to import the images into PSE11 easily, I could
not get it to recognize the catalog (.psa) file on the PC via the wireless
connection. I checked & rechecked that I had the relevant folder set
correctly to 'share', but no luck.
I don't know why this was, because it you copy the catalog file to a usb
stick & plug it into the notebook, it can pick it up OK.
So I tried that anyway, and converted the catalog again from the usb stick,
hoping that since the import of the images was via the wireless connect,
PSE11 now 'knew' the images were located on the 'external' PC hard drive;
but still the converted catalog would not function. Same as before - all my
Albums & Tags were listed correctly, but all the image thumbnails changed
from correct images to 'lost' generic Adobe flowers.
At that point, I lost heart & decided I would have to abandon the project &
just start the massive task of re-cataloging. I have a total of 64Gig of
photos, of which about 12Gig were cataloged. Very sad!
Now your suggestion has inspired me to give it one more try. It might make
a difference to have PSE11 on the PC working locally rather than trying to
negotiate the external drive thing. I had forgotten that I can do this with
a trial version.
I will let you know how I go.

Export catalog problem/question involving previews.

I just returned from a month long trip with a laptop and external drive containing 280gb (~11000 raw files) of photos which are in the same directory layout as my desktop (year/date -- e.g. root/Photos/2012/2012-12-01). For speed reasons the catalog and previews are on the laptop's C: internal drive which is an SSD. Some of these photos have already been edited, and about half of them have * ratings. All of them have at least a few keywords assigned. I want to finish the selection and editing on my much faster desktop with better monitors.
My aim is to get the remote catalog into the desktop's catalog (on its SSD E: drive) and the raw files onto my big drive with all my other photos without losing any of my work. And then wipe the portable drive so it is ready for the next trip. The plan was to
1. Export the catalog and previews only.
2. Import that into the desktop.
3. Drag/drop the the raw files into the main photo drive (and manually reconnect each day if needed).

"Photo previews could not be found (4446)" ...and then it lists the raw names in expandable groups of 100. These photos do not appear to have anything in common but there are so many of them it is hard to tell.
So I have a couple of questions: What does this error mean? Are the previews in any way necessary to preserve my work? (as I understand it the previews are expendable and would just be rebuilt, and if this is the case, it is not a problem. But that's only what I have read from various online sources). The way I read this message, it is only a minor inconvenience but that is based on the assumption the previews are expendable and the catalog is what is important. What concerns me is the wording:
"Lightroom was able to export some of the photos" --which leads me to think the previews are not expendable.
If this were just a few dozen photos I would experiment, but I dont want to mess up my main catalog with thousands of potential errors! I am running 4.4 on both machines. Thank you in advance for any insight or advice!

To answer your original question: You have probably ticked "Include available previews" when you did the Export as Catalog.
But not all previews were available, hence the error message.
I did not test if this affects the entire export of the catalog entry pertaining to the image in question.
But as you correctly stated: previews can be built by each computer running LR again, independantly. It just takes some time. But then so does the transfer of the quite substantial preview data (depending on size specified).
So I would not bother transferring previews, just leave it unticked. Then no such error messages would occur.
Your description no 1. would now be: export the catalog (i.e. the .lrcat file only, assuming you do 3. separately and have "Export negative file" unticked).
But if your travel-laptop did get a new catalog just for the trip, there would be no need to export anything.
Then you just plug your laptop accessible for your desktop, open your master catalog on the desktop and do an "Import from Another Catalog" from the complete travel-catalog.
Have your external-travel-HD plugged, then move the folders inside LR from travel-HD to your big disk.
Saves you reconnecting each folder.

Catalog problem with Element 8

I have upgraded element 7 up to 8. For the first time I have had a problem. I was not able to open the catalog used with elt 7. I have deleted this catalog and tried to create a new one through elt 8. I did not work and a "problem report" window opens each time. Since I cannot used elt 8 organizer (editor works). I have recreated a catalog I use with elt 7.

Thank you. Excellent information. My problem when using my Windows 7 Desktop is that PSE8 thinks the files are on drive C: thanks to your help document. I found this out by checking the properties of the file and the tree view inside PSE8 thinks the folder is C:\jpg which does not exist. The correct path should be D:\jpg. I want to keept the files on Drive D: so that I can copy to the external drive and use from my Notebook computer.
What is not clear is what I need to do. Can the problem be that the removable drives on the Desktop have the same Serial number.
The catalog that I am interested in [Joshua] on the Desktop all the files are missing. Intitially when I ran your tool the Joshua Catalog did not show up.

Safari crashes my macbook pro, it "restarts because of a problem," I think it is a kernel panic. How do I manage this?

I have a late 2011 15", 2.3 GHZ intel core i7 macbook pro with 16GB of ram. I recently partitioned the computer using bootcamp and before doing this had the computer upgraded to Mavericks 10.9.5 . In order to partition my computer we had to restore it to factory settings so there is almost nothing on here.. my safari and google chrome were crashing before all these changes and my computer was sometimes "restarting because of a problem". I think most times that it did this I had safari or chrome up and running or at least open in the background. I also recently had someone test my hard drive and nothing is wrong with that so I believe this is some sort of software problem.
Now my google chrome works as long as I am not signed into my account, but safari is un-usable. It crashes and then makes my computer "restart because of a problem." the computer seems to be fine besides these web browsing issues.
I have disabled my extensions for safari but none were listed to disable anyways. I have the lengthy crash report from a recent crash and will post if needed.

MacBook Pro 15" video card problems (i think)

Can anyone tell me if this is indeed a video card problem?
MBP 15" info (Dec. 2011)
Processor 2.4 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory 4GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Graphics Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB
OS X Lion 10.7.5
This is what happened:
I use my mbp heavily because I edit a lot of videos with Premiere. I also use lightroom / photoshop alot + games. I also installed Parallels desktop late 2013. I don't know if that is relevant but anyway. Everything started late 2013 (a little after installing parallels actually) when there are moments when the audio wouldn't work and I couldn't adjust the volume. It would come back anyway so i didn't mind it. Then the fans were on high speed for little activity. After that the keyboard backlight couldn't be adjusted and wouldnt work. I ignored all of these cuz i wasn't troubling me at the time. In January i left for france to study - I use bike all the time and once stupidly placed my laptop on the basket going to school (rough roads). I had a class with html so I had to open Parallels, my teacher pointed out the fans and how loud they were. That day, parallels desktop said i must upgrade to windows 9 or it will restart every 2hours. I didn't of course. I didn't have time to.
After that (a few days later i think) my laptop would randomly turn into a black screen but it's still on (the power LED is on) I tried turning it off by pressing down the power button and then turning it back on. It worked the first time. During the first week, the frequency of it happening grew. It would do it almost 3 times a day. during that same week I tried to do an SMC reset. It fixed the keyboard light, fans and audio but not the black screen thing. It just keeps on happening around 1-3 times a day. It only happens when I'm using it btw, never when I just leave it. ALSO, after a few days, it would take longer hours to open my mbp again. I mean, the screen would turn black. i would turn it off, then on again. I will ONLY hear the hard drive moving but no startup sound and no grey screen and apple logo. nothing.
The following weeks after that, I asked a friend to help me out. He suggested that I install gfxCardStatus because he said it might be my video card. He instructed that I keep it on intergrated only. So I installed that and did what he said I thought it worked for a while because the black screens stopped happening (even when gfx keeps on going back to dynamic) BUT NOW, MY LAPTOP WOULD FREEZE (not turn black). I'd shut it down using the power button but it still takes me hours to open it again. Sometimes, I'd wait for the battery to drain because it would startup when i charge it (sometimes)
I tried doing AHT as well to confirm the video card problem, but the results are no problems found. I really don't want to replace my logicboard here in france. everything is more expensive here. ;__;
Today I uninstalled parallels to see if that might have had anything to do with my problem now but i think that's just wishful thinking.
Can somebody tell me if this is really about the video card? Thank you

Query structure problem (i think)

hi am trying to get selected strings out of a jlist
and concanate them into a query i dont have any
problems getting the strings out of the list and
into the query ,i think that my problem lies within
the structure of my query.i am trying to create a new
user for a database and set their privleges when i run
the program and create a new user every things fine as
long as the only value that i select from the
privilegs list is "ALL PRIVILEGES" or "CREATE" any ther values
and i get a connection failure to the MySQL server. could any one tell
me where i am going wrong or knows the structure of another query
that can do the same job???

Output the actual query string and see if you can run it outside Java. If you cannot, then it's a database/SQL problem, not a Java problem. If you can, come back and post more details.

Import from catalog problems

Cannot import from catalog, LR quits and I get about 2 or 3 photos imported.
Adobe was no help, they had no idea why.
Have tried to "import from Cat" twice. Moving two different catalogs into my main desktop catalog. Both did not work.
All three catalogs ( two from laptop and my main LR cat) work fine and I can import photos no problem.
Would like to import all the changes of photos that I have made with these two catalogs that I did on my laptop. (Both cats are on an external hard drive).
Thoughts anyone?
I am having some issues with my video card. Screen right now is a bit pink. This would be the fourth video card I will need on this Mac Pro. Would this be the cause?

It might help. Exporting a catalog sometimes cures corruption in the original catalog. Try exporting into a new catalog and then importing the new one on your desktop.
Never heard of the last thing you mentioned. Can you describe more?
Lightroom has a preferences file, which sometimes gets corrupt and can cause all kinds of weard behaviour. You can delete (or rename away) the preferences file, and LR will build a fresh one when started. If you rename it, you will still have it if you decide you want it back.
To rename the preferences file, rename the file
"[username]/Library/Preferences/com.adobe.Lightroom3.plist"
to something like
"[username]/Library/Preferences/com.adobe.Lightroom3.plist.old"
while LR is closed and restart LR.

Lightroom 4 - Catalog problem?

I recently installed Lightroom 4.0 on my new Windows 7 Home Premiun SP1 (64 bit) computer and imported my Lightroom 3.6 catalog into a Lightroom 4 catalog.
I have two problems which may or may not be related.
First:
While working in the Library, adding key words, etc., Lightroom will suddenly report in the current photo "The file named "xxxx (either .mrw or .jpg)" is offline or missing". On viewing the folder listing in the left-hand pane, all of the folders display with a "?". They did not do so moments before.
Second:
My LR4 import path is C:\Users\Bain\Pictures\My LightRoom.
However, Lightroom is displaying the folders imported since the upgrade as if they are in the root of C:
When I view the folders in Windows Explorer they are displayed properly in the My Lightroom folder.
I'd apprecaite any suggestions or help in resolving these issues.

Let me clarify the issue of the Missing Folder.
1.       The Lightroom 4 folder listing is normal
2.       While working on a photo in a folder I receive the "The file named "xxxx (either .mrw or .jpg)" is offline or missing" message.
3.       All of the folders in the folder listing are displayed with the question mark “?”.
4.       This issue has occurred multiple times.
I worked in Lightroom until I was able to recreate the “offline or missing” message, and all the folders in My Lightroom displayed ‘?’
I followed your instructions, right-clicking on the folder the error occurred in, selecting Find Missing Folder and browsing the folder location, the folder view flickered, but all folders continued to display ‘?’.
While I was typing this, the folder listing in LR ‘refreshed’ and the folders no longer displayed ‘?’
As you can imagine this is extremely frustrating.
