Catalogue of disasters

Hi, newbie here! I arranged for Infinity to be installed last Friday, engineer was booked for between 1-6pm. Obviously he didn't turn up otherwise I wouldn't be telling this saga. I was then told that a new appointment couldnt be booked until some work had been done on the exchange on Tuesday however, an engineer called me on the Saturday afternoon and duly installed the hub and modem on Sunday morning despite the alleged work that needed doing at the exchange. By Sunday evening it had stopped working! A call to Mumbai got it working again with the extremely technical 'turn it all off and on again' solution. About an hour later it packed up again.
Current situation is that I still have no stable internet connection and following various Live Chats and calls to BT, the latest is that they are coming up Monday am to fix it!  Throughout the process I have been fobbed off and lied to, been assured various people would call me and they don't and now, a week after it was due to be installed, it still doesnt work properly.
Obviously the above is the abridged version or I would be typing all nght!
Someone tell me it will all be worth it when (if?) it gets fixed.

    OK, I have Aperture 3. ITried the Demo - it seemed fine so I plonked down for the upgrade.
    Here are the problems I have been having so far:
    • Faces seems to take an age to do anything. There have been times when I’ve entered a new person’s name using the Name button, only for it to go into a “beachball spin”. Leaving it for any length of time seems to resolve in nothing. I have had to force quit Aperture 3 a number of times.
    • Processing: a number of times, Aperture 3 starts “processing” something. I don’t know what, but it seems to get stuck on something like 3 of 57 (as shown in the Activity window). I have no idea WHAT it’s getting stuck on (the 57 seems to be a randomly chosen number - it’s been stuch on 5 of 20, etc at various times), but quitting and restarting doesn’t make it any better. I have learned that holding down this SHIFT key when starting will force such process not to launch. This “processing” seems to put on hold things like FaceBook uploads - they don’t happen until the processing is over.
    • Intermittent beachball hangs. For reasons unknown to anyone other than itself, Aperture will go beachball on me. Dunno why, but Aperture becomes unresponsive, and even if I leave it for a long time, the problem does not go away. I have had to force quit a number of times. In my mind, this is a crash. NO progress bar? No indication of things happening? This means something bad or unplanned is going on.
    I have tried rebuilding the database, which kept some of the problems at bay for a little while. I am running it in 32-bit mode because I heard that that may help. I have repaired permissions (but didn’t see any Aperture related stuff being fixed).
    All this on a 6GB 8 core system with buckets of hard drive space. The Mac is hardly a slouch. Yet here I am, in a worse situation than when I was running Aperture 2 on a G5 iMac.
    Aperture 3.0.1, with the latest Pro App support installed. Mac OSX 10.6.2

  • Trying to return my unused BT Hub - hopeless situa...

    Left BT last week as I was at the end of my 18 month contract - had a letter asking me to return my hub - but no prepaid envelope to do so.
    Contacted BT who say that since I am no longer a BT customer they refuse to provide the returns envelope - and that I should take the equipment to the Post Office and send it back - presumably at my own expense.
    Any advice?  I'm not paying to return equipment due to me leaving BT due to a catalogue of disasters. 

    if you have reached end of 18 month term contract then just keep the hub as your commitment is complete

  • Can't see original and edited Pic in My Catalogue

    I started using Photoshop Album Starter Edition yesterday. And I'm pretty sure that when I edited a picture, the catalog would insert the edited version right next to the original.
    Now, I cannot see both the original and the edited version. I see in the catalogue only originals I have not edited and the edited versions of all the others.
    In Windows Explorer it is clear that the original picture is there. Also, I can click on it and open with Starter Edition (Viewer), but that only lets me see a slide show version - no editing.
    I've tried reconnecting and finding (using menus and buttons) and I get an error message that the file(s) is/are already in the catalogue.
    The Show All option is on in the catalogue, BTW, and I have tried this on two different computers with separate downloads of APA SE (downloaded at separate times) with the same result
    If I change the filename slightly - e.g. file001.jpg => file001a.jpg, then I can import the picture, but renaming all the files would be a burdensome process.
    How can I view and edit both the original versions and the edited versions right next to each other?

    Thanks for the prompt reply. I'm glad I wasn't going crazy, and there's a reason the originals weren't viewable. If I understand you correctly, the original can come back into view in PSA SE if I choose to "revert."
    Question:
    Does "Revert" mean that (1) the edited image disappears altogether - i.e., is deleted - or (2) the image doesn't show up in PSA SE's catalog any more, but still exists physically on the drive?
    As to why I'm trying to fight PSA's help: Sometimes I just want to see the original and the edited versions to see if I really prefer the edited version better, or want to try different editing options. I know you can do this side by side in the "before & after," but the images there are not very large.
    And I guess you're right about duplicating if I want to do different things with the same image, but that requires planning ahead, a trait which I ....
    So, Question:
    Is there some way to fight back and win, i.e., get the catalog to show both the originals and edits, other than individually renaming each original file and importing it again?
    If not, then I'll have to look at the images side by side in windows explorer or do the duplicate option.

    Problems with creation of catalogue XPGrpwise and temporary files.
    I use GroupWise 8.01 and WinXP (SP2), OpenOffice 3.1.
    Why at opening files in Library, temporary files are not created in catalogue C:\Documents and Settings\Jon Smith\Local Settings\Temp\XPGrpwise, and created in catalogue C:\Documents and Settings\Jon Smith\My Documents. That causes problems. How to change a situation that worked as it is necessary.
    Catalogue XPGrpWise is created and leaves duly in catalogue C:\Documents and Settings\Jon Smith\Local Settings\Temp\.

  • Help!{module_catalogue,15999,} Catalogue module is not showing up at all. Thoughts?

    Followed all the steps in Dreamweaver to insert the Catalogue Module and nothing happens. I can see the module code, but when I preview the page nothing. I have added products to the catalogue, and tried adding multiple modules, still nothing. It's got to be something simple, but im missing it. What do you think? .......

    Two things I seen might be giving you hassle:
    One - Your div class="shop-catalogue clear"  --- The clear class is making this div hidden. In the skeleton.css line 300, it has visibility: hidden and height: 0.
    Two:  Your image path seems to be wrong,  /_images/thumbs/ZipHood_Cat.jpg, give me a 404.

    when we ran IPC userexits. 
    We've added a field ZZPSTYV in the communication structure and modified the method to define this field like follows:

    Is it a item field?  Remember that mixed fields should be declared at the header in the IPC.

    Hi, I am having a little trouble with exporting images to another drive and Catalogue and need some help if anyone can give me some advice
    I am currently using Lightroom 5.6 and operating on a Mac with OSX Ver 10.9.5.
    I am receiving an error problem when doing the following -
    I am exporting selected photos from a particular Catalogue saved on Drive 1 to a folder created on another Drive where a Lightroom Catalogue has been created. In this Catalogue I have arranged for the images once exported to be moved to a different folder - I used the Auto Import process under the File dialogue box.
    When processing the Export I receive an error message for each of the images being exported indicating the following -
    Heading Import Results
    Some import operations were not performed
    Could not move a file to requested location. (1)
    then a description of the image with file name
    Box Save As                                  Box  OK
    If I click the OK button to each image I can then go to the other Catalogue and all images are then transferred to the file as required.
    To click the OK button each time is time consuming, possibly I have missed an action or maybe you can advise an alternative method to save the time in actioning this process.

  • Question re Accessing catalogues and files from an external hard drive in Elements 6.

    Having just acquired an ehd, I have successfully carried out a trial back up of an Elements 6 2000 picture catalogue from an XP based PC, using the Elements 6 full back-up process. This process is intended to be used eventually to transfer this and other catalogues onto a new Windows 8 PC installed with Elements 11.
    However, in the interim I would also like to be able to access the picture files and the catalogue data on the ehd from a Vista based laptop which also has Elements 6 installed. Can you please advise how to do this without carrying out a full restore process that would load all of the files onto my laptop's hard drive.
    In transferring the picture files to the ehd I also seem to have lost the original file structure that was on my PC, as folders have been renamed numerically and are all held individually in the main folder of the ehd. Whilst this doesn't matter too much whilst the files remain on the ehd, provided the catalogue still knows where to find them, has the original file structure been permanently lost, or can I recreate it when I eventually restore the files and catalogue on the new Windows 8 PC?
    I'm anxious to get this process right as I have a much larger catalogue to similarly back-up and transfer, once I have acquired the new PC, and was hoping to be able to similarly access this catalogue by my laptop from the ehd as there is insufficent hard disk space on my laptop to hold all the 20,000 files involved.

    Thanks for your help re my original questions. 
    Reassured regarding not having lost the file structure of my pictures, and bearing in mind the relatively small catalogue I had backed up, I thought that rather than restoring by leaving the picture files on the EHD, I would after all restore to the laptop hard drive, as a trial run before dealing with my main catalogue. 
    The restore was successful but raised a number of further issues that I would appreciate your advice on:-
    1) The original catalogue name was not used in the restoration process. The restored catalogue on the laptop has simply been named "Pictures". Is this normal and if I now rename the restored catalogue will this create problems with any subsequent supplementary backups of the catalogue?
    2) In restoring the catalogue I heeded the Adobe Help and specified the Vista folder C:\Users\Maurice\Pictures as the location for the picture files rather than simply restoring the original XP folder structure. However, since I also wanted to retain the lower level folder structure of my XP files (which are basically date files) I then specified to "Retain the Original Folder Structure". This has resulted in the full XP folder structure being created within \Pictures on the laptop.
    Is it possible to avoid this situation occurring, or will I have to remove the unwanted XP sub-folder structure from the laptop and reconnect the thumbnails in the Photoshop catalogue to the new file locations? Also if I have to move files in this way will I once again have problems with any subsequent restorations of the same catalogue?
    I have also a couple of supplementary questions re the initial backup to the EHD which I have now looked at more closely:-
    1) The original XP catalogue has 1853 picture files, (and this is identical to that subsequently restored on the laptop), yet in backing up the catalogue to the EHD it seems that in excess of 2200 picture files have been created. Why is this?
    2) As previously advised the pictures are held on the EHD numbered sequentially as "b000001" etc, and due to my selecting the EHD top level root folder as the destination for the back up are held in F:\. Should I have created a new folder, say "Backup 1" on the EHD, and then specified this as the destination folder, as I am concerned that on backing up further catalogues the existing picture files will get overwritten and the Photoshop Backup and Catalogue files confused with previous backups? If so can I move the existing back up files to a new folder now without causing any problems?
    Finally could you confirm what would have happened to the folder structure on the EHD had I carried out the Restore process by locating the picture files on the EHD but retaining their original file structure. Would the picture files have been copied into their original file structure for use by the restored catalogue and the duplicate backup files left unaltered, or would the backup picture files have been replaced by the restored file structure? Also would the "catalogue file" be transferred to the Laptop C:\ drive in this process or would this also stay on the EHD and be accessed from there by Photoshop?
    Sorry for all the questions but I really want to fully understand what is going on before risking doing anything to move my main catalogue.

    I am getting messages that I can't download and read .pdf files since I have the wrong Adobe reader. I know about their security disasters of course, but I downloaded the latest version of Adobe Reader from the Adobe web site and I have other ,pdf file readers as well, and for some reason they won't work either. I have 5 computers running top end processors and RAM. By this I mean I have one, this one which I am using that has an AMD Phenom Black 3.2 Quad-core with 8 GBs of Corsair top DDR2 RAM, my other two AMD have either an Athlon II triple core with 4 GBs of DDR2 Corsair RAM, one with the Phenom X4 965 3.4 GHz Quad-core with 8 GBs of their best DDR2 RAM, and two Intels with the i7 920 Processors using the triple channel 1366 socket processors and one with 8 GBs of low latency DDR3 RAM and the other with 4 GBs of the same RAM. I am getting the message on this one, which has a fresh install of XP Pro X64 operating system, as do the other 4 as well. I have run Avast Business Pro Anti-virus on this one, which I am getting the message on with a single result which I deleted, and also both Spybot Search and Destroy, which came back clean as well as Malwarebytes Antimalware, which got a lot of tracing cookies now removed, and SuperAntiSpware which also found a few cookies also now deleted. Can you tell me what I need to do to get these files to show as .pdf files rather than as a clean blank page. One other issue is that I wish to know how to turn off my downloads so they are saved and Mozilla will give me the option of returning them instead of me losing them all together as it does now. Thanks for your assistance. If there is another Adobe reader I should download and install, could you provide me with the link to it? I appreciate your assistance here

  • Field catalogue for ALV Grid when program is run in the background

    Hi All,
    I have an ALV report that contains approx 27 fields.  Not all of these fields will be relevant for different Users, and many will want to change the order the fields appear in.
    When running on line the User can set a variant to present the data as they wish.  However, I need to email this report to the SAP Inbox with the fields displayed in the same Order with uncessary fields hidden as stated in the Field Catalogue.
    On-line none of this is an issue, however GET_FRONTEND_FIELDCATALOG cannot be used in Background, and attribute MT_FIELDCAT_LOCAL is Private and cannot be accessed.
    I have looked at using Class CL_ ALV_VARIANT to try to read the Variant being used, but couldn't get the information about the Variant coming back, instead I get an error in CL_ALV_VARIANT->LOAD_VARIANT.
    Can anybody recommend how to the Field Cat for a Variant for background processing?

    You can not use an ALV report in Background or write to spool because it is a kind of dialog program.
    You can write only  a List report to spool so please find others sulotions.

  • Help! How to open PSE 7 without opening catalogue

    Tried to migrate from PSE 7 to PSE 9. After catalog conversion the browser seemed to open normally, however crashes in a few seconds. Called the Adobe helpdesk, they come to the conclusion that the catalogue is corrupt, however catalogue functioned normally in PSE 7. Since the catalogue has now been converted, it cannot open in PSE 7 anymore. I was happy having made a back up, but if I want to restore the back up,  PSE 7 is automatically opening the old - converted/ corrupt - catalogue and... hangs. Has anybody within Adobe thought of the possibility to open the software without, automatically, opening the catalogue. Seems particulary useful in these kind of circumstances.
    I have tried to open and at the same time helding the ALT + SHIFT+ CTRL keys but that does not work.
    First of all I d like to migrate with my old catalogue to PSE 9, but at least I would like to still be able to open my old catalogue (back up version) in PSE 7.

    The converted catalog is on its original location (hence original version is overwritten). PSE 7 crashes when opening this catalog.
    The backup of the original catalog is on an external drive. Now I want to restore the back-up catalog, my understanding is I need to do this with PSE 7. (I tried it with PSE 9 too but got an error message).
    However when I open the PSE 7 software/ organiser it starts automatically to open the converted/ corrupted catalogue and the program crashes...
    So key question is: how can I start up PSE without opening automatically a catalogue (then being able to restore the BU)

    Thanks for your reply. Infact I only coded the event handler. In the first line, I am reading the entity from the collection wrapper of the context node. If it is bound, only then I can set it in EDIT mode.
    ob_entity ?= me->typed_context->notes->collection_wrapper->get_current( ).
    IF ob_entity IS BOUND.
    Sets the view in EDIT mode
    Now, ob_entity is null if there is initially no data in the notes section of the confirmed account. However, if notes is not empty, then, ob_entity is bound and I can set the view to edit mode. This is the issue.
