Catalyst 4006 Network Teaming with Linux server
hi ,
i need to setup network teaming and do ethernahcneel between
Catalyst 4006 & Linux server
i want to ask ,
does catalyst 4006 support lacp ???
if dont support lacp , does pagp cant be work if the 2nd side is not a cisco device ?? in my case "linux server "
regards
@CSCO12006413
Listen to ‘glen.grant’ – ‘pagp’ is propriety to Cisco devices, so your only option will be ‘lacp’.
However, my question to add to this post – would ‘CSCO12006413’ want to go with the MAC or IP Load-balancing methods? Question - If the destination address is the same, but source address different ‘CSCO12006413’ should use MAC based load-balancing; however, if this is for server-to-server configuration, I think you will want to use IP based load-balancing on the EtherChannel configuration?
Thanks

Airport Extreme configuration with Linux server gateway.
Hello all-
I am sorry if this is a repeat post.... I looked and could not find anything. I am trying to set up a linux server and have it act as a gateway between my Airport Extreme and my modem. I am wondering if there is a way to set a static IP on the airport extreme, or do I assign the address on the NIC in the linux box. The internal network will have OS X, Windows and Linux on it.
Also is there a flavor of linux that works better than others with Apple equipment?
Thank you for your patience and help!
Cheers!I am wondering if there is a way to set a static IP on the airport extreme
Yes, there is. You would do so using the AirPort Utility. (ref: AirPort Utility > Manual Setup > Internet > Internet Connection > Configure IPv4 = Manually) You can then enter the desired IP address information as required for your network configuration. -
Oracle Advanced Networking Option with Linux
I want to set up a linux client that works with an Solaris based Oracle 8i EE server using an encrypted connection.
I have successfully done this with NT clients. However the Linux client responds an "ORA-12657: No algorithms installed"
Isn't Oracles Advanced Networking Option available for Linux?
If it is, how do I install it?

nullCheck to see if ANO is linked in with SQL*Plus by running the following:
cd to oracle_home/bin
adapters sqlplus
If after running the adapters command and ANO does not show as being linked in,
perform the following:
1. Change directorys to oracle home/sqlplus/lib
2. Run the following unix command to relink SQL*Plus:
make -F ins_sqlplus.mk install
3. Change to oracle home/bin directory.
4. Re-run "adapters sqlplus" to verify that ANO is now linked in. -
Hallo,
Hello,
I run the office and at home each a Microsoft Home Server. In both networks, in addition to various Windows computers, a Mac is available.
The particular "configuration" is as follows:
- Apple MacMini (Late 2011, as HTPC) with Lion via wifi via AVM Fritzbox 7390 to Microsoft Windows Home Server 2011 (Windows Server 2008).
- Apple iMac (Late 2010, desktop PC) with Snow Leopard by Lan on AVM Fritzbox 7270 on Microsoft Windows Home Server V1 (Windows Server 2003)
All operating systems on current conditions with all patches and updates.
The Fritz boxes running with the latest firmware
Now to the problem:
Both Macs are loosing every 30 minutes the contact to the server. The connection is "re-"established about 1-2 minutes later. On MacMini (HTPC), the film or music is stopped for the above period. Thereafter, the film / music goes on. With the iMac (workstation) a document loaded from the server can no longer be saved or printed.
The MacMini has shown this phenomenon directly in connection with the WHS. However, the iMac has been working about 1.5 years with no problems. This problem only occurs for about 6-9 months
Because of different WHS and OS X versions are affected and also different Fritz boxes are used and it seems to be a general problem in the interplay Windows / OS X to be present.
When the iMac is the exact date of disconnection does not occur.
With the Mac Mini, the time can however be determined relatively easily. From the Event Viewer on Windows Server is unfortunately no clear error image. At the particular time but appeared relatively often, but not always (!) In Windows Security Logs the error 4625 (Failed to log on an account) on. This would indicate a rights issue.
Searching for a solution (so far unsuccessfully, unfortunately), I stumbled over the problem of the Server Infrastructure License Services (silsvc) in Windows Small Business Server 2011 Essentials (every 30 min!). Maybe a connection?Hi, and thank you for your reply!
My reason for not posting this in the server forum is that I suspect it is a clien issue. All my other clients connect happily to the server which leads me to believe the server is configured correctly.
Only my the two MacBook Pro's are having problems. -
Network issues with 2nd server in pool
Hi All,
Created a test environment with ovs 3.0.2 and manager 3.0.2. Initially started with just one host and one manager (seperate physical blades). Created the NFS storage with 2 repos, one 12 GB for file system and another large repo for vm's. Then modified the default network to also include virtual machine and storage use, followed by creating the server pool.
I then built a second ovs 3.0.2 blade and added to the server pool. Now I started creating vm's using the OL5U7 template I downloaded. The vm's all looked OK on server 1 but when I try to create, migrate etc any vm on server 2, it always fails. The logs are saying:
Error: Device 0 (vif) could not be connected. Could not find bridge device 10.5.0.0
Ifconfig on server 1 has the usual bond0, eth0, eth1 and the following:
10.5.0.0
10.5.0.0:0
I understand the first one is the bridge and the second is for the virtual ip. Now ifconfig on server 2 only has bond0, eth0 and eth1. It doesn't have the bridge 10.5.0.0. Is this what is preventing the vm from creating the vif interface on server 2? Both servers have eth0 and eth1 as slaves in bond0.
What step did I missed out when I added server 2 to the pool? The default network already has both servers selected.
Thanks.831583 wrote:

Essentially, you need to remove/re-apply the VM role to the Management network. We are aware of this issue and have addressed it in v3.0.3. -
Network issues with Windows Server 2008 and MacOS
Hello there,
I believe it is a long shot, but i am running out of options. I got a video streaming server software running on my windows server 2008. It has a client that runs on MacOS and Windows. The windows client works just fine, but the macos client cannot stream
a few videos.
I've tried installing the streaming server on windows 7 and my mac client worked just fine, so I believe that win server 2008 got some sort of configuration that is blocking the correct communication between software.
Since the software devs could not tell me what's wrong or how to fix it, I thought I might get some help here (kinda of a last hope thing). I have tried installing codecs, enabling desktop experience and nothing worked.
So, here is my question: Is there anything that windows server has that windows 7 do not that might be causing this scenerio?
Thanks,
LucasHi,
Have you disabled the firewall on the windows server? The firewall may block the traffic if it isn’t configured properly.
If it still doesn’t work after disabling the firewall, please install the Network Monitor on the windows server and client. Then capture the traffic of the video when the server and windows7 runs your software.
Try to compare the traffic of windows server and windows7. Find out the difference between them.
To download Network Monitor, click the link below,

The following article is about how to use the Network Monitor,

Networking macbook with windows server 2003 LAN
Can anyone refer me to a good, very basic source for how-to set up a macbook on a windows network server running Windows Server 2003? I would be running a lot of apps in Windows environment using Parallels.
According to:
"The Windows Server 2003 domain and forest functional levels are deprecated. When you create a new domain or forest,
you should consider using a functional level from Windows Server 2008 or newer. When you deploy Windows Server 2012 R2 into an existing Windows Server 2003 environment, you will be notified to move to a newer functional level."
(http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn303411.aspx) you can introduce Windows 2012 r2 domain kontroler
in Windows 2003 forest but you should consider upgrading to higher functional levels.

Mac network with Linux file server
We currently have Windows XP machines networked to a Linux server via Samba. I know if we switch to Mac, I can still use Samba for file sharing, but how do I back up user data? Currently, we use roaming profiles in XP, so users' My Documents, etc get backed up to the server when they log out. Is there some sort of equivalent for Macs?

There is an equivalent, but you need to be running LDAP and your users need to log on using that LDAP identity. (But that may be what you are already doing...)
See http://mattfleming.com/node/190 for details. If you search the web you'll find more information on how to do it. (It can be done with SAMBA for instance). It is complicated. You might also ask in the Mac OS X Server forum. -
Server 2012 R2 Network Teaming Issues After Adding WOW64 Feature
Recently I have had a specific issue adding the WOW64 feature to an active Server 2012 R2 server in core mode (no management). The server had two active virtual machines. A server 2008 R2 in version 1 mode and a 2012 R2 in version 2.
All were up2date as of April 10 2015. This was a domain connected core with domain connected virtual machines. We are the domain administrator.
After using powershell to install WOW64 and issuing a restart we lost all external network connectivity to the server once the server came back up. From the console we could ping 127.0.0.1 and all the network addresses of each VM but not the
default gateway or any address on the local network. We tried several resolutions including disabling all firewall rules and assigning a known VLAN but nothing worked. Something went completely haywire within Windows 2012 R2 and network teaming
and the virtual switch that supplies the VM's with communication.
What we had to do was remove one of the physical network adapters from the team using powershell from the core console. We then assigned an address to the nic and whallah we were able to remotely communicate to the server again but the problem
still remained with communicating to the team.
After hours of trials we finally stumbled on a solution deleting the hyper-v virtual switch though a remote console, then the team through powershell. This of course broke all the hyper-v VM's. We said f'it and rebooted.
This is the magical combination apparently
We then recreated the team using the remote management GRAPHICAL widget using every physical EXCEPT the nic we were communicating to. Then we recreated the hyper-v virtual switch remotely again with the GRAPHICAL widget and assigned
it an address using the command line sconfig tool. We then went into the GRAPHICAL hyper-v manager and assigned all VM's to the new virtual switch. WOW everything works again
Let me just say here in this post that the lack of graphical management in CORE mode is a complete nightmare. The fact we have to use some graphical tools to perform certain tasks and the command line for others is just silly. The sconfig.exe
tool should have built-in teaming commands as inexperienced remote administrators are very difficult to work with over the phone trying to explain spelling of the upper/lowercase commands.
This post is more informative than really asking a specific question but if I were to ask one I'd ask, why did installing the WOW64 feature and rebooting break the external communication of the team and the virtual switch?Hi gettnmorebetter,
Could you try to confirm whether you have in the following situation, if you do not found the related symptom please try to install the latest update then monitor the issue
again.

I want to upgrade my OS from official repository on Primary and Standby Servers. And I have a question:
Will I have a problem with my RDBMS after upgrade OS (e.g. statuses in dba_registry will become INVALID)?It's Ok.
Now I have:
$ cat /etc/issue
Oracle Linux Server release 6.4
No any problem. -
Hello, lately i noticed dw 5.5 can't seem to use browserlab, it says "Your network preferences prevent us from communicating with the server"
I can connect to BC and other ftp servers no problem, I've also turned off my firewall to be sure and it still won;t connect.
The only info I found on this error is a tip on how to turn off browserlab, which in turn gets this error, Not sure why you would wnat to shut the feature off, but no tip to turn it on. The tip on editing the registry doesn;t help because itsyays to change the registry key to 0 and all communication of adobe products will be turned off, however the key does exist and is set to 1, so I can;t even try that tip in reverse to enable, itshould be communication already.
Any help would be appreciated, I am just competinga site and was about to check it in all the browsers, an incredibly useful and time saving feature, but I can't now.
RichPhil, the only screenshot I've seen from you is the error message (and I can't seem to view the others you just posted), so apologies if I told you something you'd already tried. We still think there should be a solution to this, it's just that debugging issues this way can be a little difficult, so please bear with us.
At this point our best guess is that there is a registry setting that got changed that is causing the issue for both of you. We have been able to repro the issue on Windows XP by setting the following 32-bit registry entry to 0. The issue was fixed by changing it back to 1. We've also tested on Windows 7 and verified the same thing with the 64-bit registry entry. Apologies if I'm suggesting something that any of you has already tried, but no details were provided about which registry entry you checked or what article you were looking at.
From the CSLive team:
"To my knowledge the only way to get that error message is to disable CSLive in the registry. The Customer does not mention the exact article or reg value that he is looking at in his post but it should be:
For 32-bit systems: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Adobe\AdobeOnlineDefault.
For 64-bit systems: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Adobe\AdobeOnlineDefault
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/846/cpsid_84665.html
He should delete the AdobeOnlineDefault entry in the registry and try again. (he may need to stop and restart CS55Services Manager or reboot machine)."
Let us know if this fixes the issue for you or not. As with any change to the registry we recommend you make a backup first and proceed carefully.
Thanks,
Mark -

// *Cause: Invalid address specified or destination is not listening.
// This error can also occur because of underlying network or network
// transport problems.
// *Action: Verify that the net service name you entered was correct.
// Verify that the ADDRESS portion of the connect descriptor which
