Catalyst CS5 file created on PC opens "crippled" on Mac

Hi,
I created a CS5 Catalyst file on a Windows XP PC, then emailed the file to myself and subsequently opened the file on my Mac OX 10.6.6.  It opened, but all the "pages" are not here and I can really do anything with it.
Please advise.
Thanks.

Hum.
Have you tried reopening the saved file on the PC? That will tell if the save was correct on that platform.
Then how was the file send to the Mac? Did you compress it yourself, or did your email client do that? Have you tried moving it via either FTP server, DropBox, or USB drive?
Have you tried a one page FC file and transferring that file?
Just some initial thoughts to try.
Chris

  • Save flash pro CS5 file created in windows to a mac os file

I created a flash banner with flash pro CS5 using windows 7. Can I save the file so my client can open it with a Mac OS?

Yes, the .fla file can be opened on either platform. Don't forget to include any external files that you may have used, and fonts that you have embedded into the fla.

  • Template file creates duplicates when opened

Appleworks 6.2.9, running on intel iMac in Leopard.
Created a template, saved it to the desktop. In the finder, double click the template and it makes a copy of the template file, as it opens. I type in the file and Save, now I have three files on my desktop -- the original template, the copy of the template, and the actual file.
Has anyone seen this? Solved this?

AppleWorks template files are intended to be opened from Starting Points (they contain information that AW uses to organize your template files). It doesn't hurt anything, but is just a matter of self-preservation. AppleWorks has indexed those template files so you can find them easily from within AppleWorks. If your Mac has multiple user accounts, it keeps each user's templates separate from the others, while allowing all users access to the common templates. When you try to open them from the Finder, AW immediately makes a copy of it to make it harder for you to make an inadvertent change to the original indexed version.
If you want to be able to double-click a template, you can use my solution to delete the original template after a "copy" was created, then remove "(space)copy" from the name of the copy created. I found that this copy (now named as the original template) will not create copies.

  • PDF files created in Acrobat Pro X for Mac will not print correctly on Windows - text is missing

I recently created a PDF file with pictures and texts in Acrobat Pro X. However, when I send it to my coworkers (who work on Windows computers), the printed file contains only images, and no text. I am using Century Gothic - a font that is installed on these Windows computers. When they open the files, they can see the text and everything exactly as it is meant to be. However, upon printing, the text disappears completely.
We are using a Konica Minolta Bizhub printer to complete these printouts. When I print from my computer (the Mac), the files print perfectly on this printer. However, when using the same printer, a Windows user cannot print the text in the PDF's.
Has anyone else run across this problem? I am thinking of trying to embed fonts, however it doesn't seem like it would make much of a difference (since the fonts show up fine on a Windows computer anyways). Is there a known issue with printing PDF's on a Konica Minolta printer?

The archive format you used embeds all fonts, as does Press and Print type job settings. The standard job settings does not embed all fonts and that might be where the problem was.

  • How do I get multiple files/photos to stay open in CS3/mac snow leopard .7

I just switched over to a new mac book pro with snow leopard (version .7 I think). When working in Photoshop CS3 Extended, I can't seem to keep more than one file/photo open at a time.  I have one open, then I try to open a second one and the one that had been open just closes.  Can't find it minimized on the dock or anything - it just closes.  This is craziness for photoshop.
Anyone else have this issue?  What is the fix?

It is not possible to see two open documents side by side while you're in Tabbed Mode (duh!).  You need to
    GET OFF tab mode!
That's what guru Chris Cox has been trying to tell you from the very beginning (post #1).
So Uncheck the preference to Open Documents as Tabs,
Photoshop menu > Preferences > Interface > Panels & Documents > Open Documents as Tabs
then set your Screen Mode to Standard Screen Mode
You really should read the User Guide.  Download the ENTIRE HELP file as a PDF from the Adobe Help site and study it carefully.

  • How do I install Rosetta Stone onto my Macbook running OSX 10.8 when installing it I go into the folder called For MAC Users and the files in there are .exe files which cant be open on a Mac. If anyone has a solution or even a download link let me know.

This is really frustrating please let me know I looked around and all the downloads cost money and I would prefer if you guys could give me a free one but a solution would be even better!!
    Thanks

You have the Windows version of the software.  You will need to contact Rosetta Stone directly to get the Mac version of their software.  I can confirm it does install on Mountain Lion without issues.

  • Merging data on a File created by Open Dataset

    Hi everyone
I have 11 proxies writing on a FIle created by an Open Dataset (all of the proxies write on the same File).
My customer sent massive messages to those proxies, when the proxies were running and writing on the file they merged the data.
Can someone give me some light on how to prevent that merge without locking the file, cause if I lock the file the process is going to take too much time.
    Thanks in advanced
    Emmanuel

    why dont u have filename_proxyname
each proxie will have diff names so they will not merge?

  • Can I transfer my CS5 files from my Windows 7 computer to my Mac Yosemite computer and have them work with CS6 for Mac?

I am using Dreamweaver CS5 on a Windows 7 laptop.  I would like to change to Dreamweaver CS6 on my Mac running Yosemite.  Can I transfer my CS5 files from the  Windows computer to the Mac and will CS6 be able to work those files on the Mac?  I do not need nor want a subscription account.  Just the stand-alone program for occasional tweeks to my web site.  at www.longwayhome.com.
It is a realtively simple web site that requires only simple editing from time to time.

Yes, your files in CS5 are just .html, .css, .php and .js files, there's nothing that makes them "CS5 versions" of those file types.
You can do it a couple different ways, but the easiest would be to copy the folder being used as the root directory (and all of it's contents) from one machine to the other, then on the new machine, simply set up a new site definition, using that newly copied folder as the local root.
If you want, you can export your site settings (FTP and whatnot) on the old machine...
Go to Site > Manage Site> click the site you want > Export
Copy the resulting .ste file along with the local root folder to the new machine
On the new machine go to Site > Manage Sites > import to bring in the .ste
Relink that new site to the newly copied root folder

  • Problem opening PC files created on latest version of CS5 on Mac

    Hi.
We´re a creative team in my company of four people, three mac users and one pc user. We recently all subscribed to the creative cloud so that we allways have the latest version of CS5, but there seems to be a problem with all files edited or created from the PC user.
We've (mac users, all three) tried to open the files either created or edited by the PC user and we're told that this was created by a newer version and is not possible. Trying to understand why this message occure when all three macs where updated with creative cloud after the PC user.

    your title is confusing.
the pc user is using cc 2014 apps, correct?
the mac users are using cc 2014 apps, correct?
if so, there should be no problem.
if someone is using cs5 to try and open a file created by a cc 2014 app, you will see the problem you described.

  • Can't open DNG files created with Mac CS5 downloader in Mac CS4 Photoshop

I recently installed CS5 on my mac but I kept CS4 installed as well.  I notice that I cannot open DNG files created with CS5 in Photoshop CS4.  Bridge CS4 shows the files only as icons - no image thumbnails.  I am able to open these same files on a Windows version of CS4.  Is there some plugin for my mac CS4 that will enable me to access the DNG files created with CS5?  Is there a way to use my CS5 downloader when converting my raw files from my camera to DNG files that will make them compatiple with PS and Bridge CS4?

Well, yes...but you'll need to modify your DNG Converter prefs to allow for that. You''ll need a recent (ideally current DNG Converter 6.4.1 or above) and click on the DNG Converter preferences and select the correct DNG Converter options. Check DNG Converter 6.4.1 (the current version) and click on "Change Preferences" to be sure select Camera Raw 5.4 and later then make sure CS4 is updated to ACR 5.7 (which is the last version of ACR for CS4) However, the changes made to ACR 6.x really should be adopted since IQ for ACR 6.4.x is a lot better...

  • Can I open psd files created in Photoshop CC with lower version? Actually CS5.

Can I open psd files created in Photoshop CC with lower version? Actually CS5.
My home and office have different version each.

Yes, PROVIDED that the file has not been saved with any layers containing any of the specific new features introduced starting with Photoshop CC and higher.
If the file has been flattened or if it was flat to begin with there will be no problems.

  • Can files created in cs5.5 design premium be saved so they open in Photoshop CS2 or Illustrator CS4?

Can files created in cs5.5 design premium be saved so they open in Photoshop CS2 or Illustrator CS4?

Yes, you can save compatible files as long as you obey the rules like not using unsupported features such as nested groups, per group clipping masks, smart objects and several other things in Photoshop and use the "Maximize Compatibility" option. Illustrator will simply expand the appearance of objects or rasterize/ flatten them when going back to older versions if a feature is not available or changed in those old versions.

  • I cannot open many files created in CS5 into CS4

    How do I overcome that

In each case I created a CS5 file and saved all its layers as .psd. I then flattened the file and saved it as .jpg. These files appear in windows explorer. When I load CS5 and click File/Open the window shows those files. But when I load CS4 and click File/Open the window showing the contents of that same folder does not include some of those files whether "Files of type" is set at psd, jpg, or all formats. If, however, I go to that folder that has the file using Windows Explorer, right click on it, and tell it to open with CS4 it does open in CS4. Hold on a sec. I just discovered something. The folder contains some files which are modifications of original files which have the same name as the original but with v2 or v3 or v4 appended to the name. It is those which do not show up when I load CS4 and click on File/Open. Curiouser and curiouser. Any ideas?

  • Why doesn't Photoshop CS4 open DNG files created in Photoshop CS5?

I download raw photo files from my Leica Dlux 4 and convert the Leica raw files to DNG files using CS5 Bridge.  Recently I discovered that when I try to access these DNG files in Photoshop CS4 I get a message saying 'cannot access this file'.  The files also do not show up as thumbnails in CS4 Bridge.  Do I need an upgrade or a plug in to see DNG files created in CS5 Bridge in Photoshop CS4?

    System: Windows 7
Third party plug-ins: Not to my knowledge?
    Quicktime: I believe so.
Save Method: I save as two copies, one in the default Photoshop format (PSD) and then I hit "save as" to save as PNG.

  • Can I open Premier CS6 file created on PC, in CS5 on Mac

I am working on a video simultaneously with another editor, the idea is that we both edit and both projects should hopefully be vastly different and then once complete to make a master project and take the best cuts of both projects.  Initially we were both on CS5 however the other editor has upgraded to CS6.  He is editing on a PC and I am editing on a Mac.  I am not worried about what CS6 might have to offer, all I want is to be able to use his cuts in my version of CS5. Will This work? Will the projects be able to open accross the different OS and also backwards from CS6 to CS5?

    Harm Millaard wrote:
there is no full compatibility between OS
So basically this means you can still open a PC project on the Mac and vice versa. Using Final Cut Pro and CS5 I was able to export an XML file for premiere and open the project in Premiere Pro CS5 without missing any transitions. The audio tacks was just as they were in FCP!
There is no backward compatibility in Adobe video products except Photoshop and Illustrator.
