Categories in App store empty?

Hi!
Just got my new ipod touch 8 GB and very pleased. Until yesterday, I would go in the categories in the App store and there would be, well, all sort of categories (games, movies, etc.) now it is empty and I don't know why. Any help out there?
many thanks,
SG

Same things happen here! The categories in the iPhone app store becomes blank since Friday afternoon. I am in Hong Kong and this happens to the Hong Kong, Taiwan, China iTune stores. I also login to the US and Japan stores, but they were both fine!
This especially impact me because I am an iPhone app developer and my app was on the top paid app list of travel. Suddenly, people loss direct access to my app in the store through browsing!
Hope Apple notice and fix this problem soon!

  • IOS 8.2 app store empty

I updated my iPad 4 to iOS 8.2 yesterday, and everything seemed to be working fine... including the app store (I actually purchased an app).  When I woke up this morning, I found that my app store is empty.  Specifically, the main screen - featured tab, top charts, and explore are empty.  My purchased list and update list are available.
I tried logging out and back into the app store without success.  I have also tried to reset network settings, which prompted me to log back into the store, without success.  Any suggestions?

You have to stop asking the same question over and over, your first two posts have been deleted already.
Follow the instructions in my screen shot,

  • Categories in App Store are blank

in iTunes for Windows, I go to the App Store dropdown and select a category and It comes up with a blank screen.
Podcasts, Music, etc. work fine for categories, it's just the
    App store where they don't.
    I'm on iTunes 9.0.2.25

  • Block app categories in app store?

I want to block all games and social networking apps in app store in my students ipad. I want to know how can it be done. Using profile or any other method?
    Please help me.
I want to block these app categories:
    Games
    Social Networking
    Thank You.

There was another post like this earlier, from South Africa, I think. The issue is likely not with your phone, it's with Apple's servers. Nothing you can really do but wait for Apple to sort it out.

  • Apps Store empty

I have recently updated the ios to 6 and when ever I go to the Apps store it is empty or blank on the Charts and Featured area. I have tried all the possible solutions but no change. Please help.

I followed the same steps I put in my last post a second time and now my features tab word so my issue has been resolved! I encourage others with this issue to try those steps and if it doesn't work the first time try it again. After I changed year to 2013 I turned wifi off and the rebooted iPad, I turned iPad back on enabled wifi and checked App Store and issue resolved. I then went back into settings and under Date and a time switched it back to automatic and everything's working great! Hope it helps you guys!

  • Why do I get two newsstand categories in App Store. (IPAD 3)

One is in the correct position, but the other stands in the position where suppose to be a Game category, and the Game category is missing from the category page. Below is the snapshot.

Norwegian here, I have the same problem on my new iPad(3), a friend also has the same problem on his iPad2, and I just took a look at a first generation iPad we have at work, and notices the same problem there as well (different account and language than used on my own device).
My friend with the iPad 2 also reported that he has had this problem for quite some time, so I hope this is something Apple actually looks into, I did not buy any games yesterday when I was bored due to the fact that I had no easy way to browse them

  • ITunes says "update available." App Store disagrees.

I saw the announcement for iTunes 11. I opened iTunes, and got a window saying an update was available. The App Store opened, and I got a message saying no updates were available. Help?

    writergirl2,
    1. Go to your Applications folder.
    2. Drag the Numbers application to the trash (do NOT empty the trash at this time).
    3. Open the App Store on your Mac.
    4. Search for the Numbers application in the App Store.
    5. Install the Numbers Application (you won't be charged since you've already purchased).
    6. Once the Install has completed, you should no longer have this "ghosting update prompt".
    7. Once you have verified that the update list has been cleared in the App Store, empty your trash.
    This should solve your problem!

  • On my late 2012 27" iMac, running 10.8.5, apps from the Mac App Store, after being updated, constantly show they need updated.

I have had this problem for a while. Deleted App Store, re installed, signed out and back in, called support, deleted App Store, empty trash, restart, install App Store. Still no fix.
After an update, the apps themselves show the current version. Quite a few ( not all ) will inevitebly pop up as needing updates.
    Any ideas?.

Please stop deleting the App Store application, if that's what you've been doing. It's completely pointless.

  • App store top charts and categories is empty on iPad 3

The app store tabs for top charts and categories is blank/empty and has been this way for the past several hours on my iPad 3. They display fine on my iPad 1.

Have you tried basic troubleshooting ?
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Quit the app store and restart. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

  • Every time I click on the Categories tab or Top 25 tab in the app store, it says 'too many http redirects'

Every time I open the app store on my iPod touch, it says 'too many http redirects' whenever I click on the Categories and Top 25 tabs. I tried force quitting the app store, that didn't work. I tried closing all windows in Safari and force quitting safari, also didn't work. I reset the network settings, that didn't work either. When I reset all settings, it appeared to work. The tabs were different (it had a Genius tab), but it worked. However, immediately after force quitting the app store (I force quit a lot to keep as much RAM clear as possible), the same thing happened again. Does anyone know a permanent, Apple-supported solution to this problem? And please do not say restoring it. I don't want to start from scratch just to potentially experience the same problem.

  • On my iPad 2 I cannot click on an app in the app store or click on different app categories. What should I do????

When I go into the app store on my iPad 2 I can't click on apps to view them nor can I click on different app categories. What is wrong and what should I do???

Try closing the App Store app completely and see if it works properly when you re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with App Store 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the App Store app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • IOS 5 Bug in app store Categories button

In app store.app, after entering top charts, repeting touch the categories button, everytime it has been repeted instead of just doing the first time! This problem allso existed in other aspects of the ios 5 system.

Ok correction: this problem has occurred only once. That I found nothing can be clicked in app store.app. But right after I quit and get back, everything looks fine. Dont know why it happened at first, even dont know wheter it will happen again.

  • ITunes App Store no "Categories" menu?

Every category within the iTunes store has its own landing page, complete with a menu of top-level categories. Music and Movies has a Genres menu. Podcasts has a Categories menu. Audio Books has a "Popular Authors" menu where Genres ought to be (huh?) and what does the App Store have?
"App Store Quick Links", with such relatively arbitrary categories as "Comics", "Summertime", and "Zombies!".
Once all of my Zombie needs have been met, what if I'm looking for actual top-level categories such as Productivity, Weather or Business? The most consistent, intuitive thing would be to have a Genres/Categories menu like every other section, putting the user one click away from the content they're looking for.
There ARE methods of getting to specific app categories, but none of them meet the guidelines that Apple itself set out for app designers, such as not making users feel like they have to visit too many screens to go to the content they want, or using the left pane to provide users with a persistent menu of top-level categories. If the iTunes version of the App Store was up for review, it might well get rejected!
(Even the App Store on the iPhone/iPad, the most intuitive App Store interface of the lot, chooses to make top-level categorical content two "clicks" in, instead of one.)
Somewhere there's a UI developer pulling her hair out because Sales&Marketing thinks more apps would be sold if there was a "Zombies!" category where "Education" or "Travel" ought to be.

iTunes apps are for iOS devices such as iPads, iPhones, and the iPod touch.
Apps you download from the Mac App Store are for the Mac OS X.
    Two different operating systems.

  • App Store Categories error

Whenever i go to app store and go into categories all the options have the skype icon and say app store. I have done a reset and a full restore neither of which fixed it. I phoned apple support and they had no idea how to fix it, they told me the best that they could do was send it away for a repair. Has anyone else encountered this problem and found a solution or any other information on it?

On second thought.... don't follow these instructions.... it may appear to work, but its actually showing you the US store... (Noticed this because Pandora is listed, and its a US only music app)
When you try and purchase anything, it says your account is only valid with the Canadian store, and not valid with the US store.
Tried to go to settings to fix it, but it also gives the US store error, and wont let me in.
Synching with iTunes puts you back to the Canadian store, and also brings back the Categories issue... Guess we'll have to wait for apple to fix their Canadian store.
