LLQ priority issue after upgrading to Sup32 on Cisco 6509
Hi,
I have 1x Cisco 6509 with Sup2 and MSFC2 and it is running on IOS (c6k222-jk9sv-mz.122-17d.SXB11).
I have following policy map :
Policy Map VOIP
Class IPPHONE
priority percent 75
and the following command on each interface:
service-policy output VOIP
those configuration are working fine on SUP2 with MSFC2 but last week I tried to upgrade the SUP2 to SUP32 on the switch and upgrade the IOS to the latest version (s3223-adventerprisek9-mz.122-33.SXJ4)
but when I try to put service-policy output VOIP on each physical interface I am getting the following error:
"Priority command is not supported in output direction for this interface"
and when I try to add service-policy output VOIP on a VLAN interface I am getting following error:
MQC features are not supported in output direction for this interface.
Please let me know if I need to change something after upgrading to SUP32.
ThanksHi
Hi
Sup32 uses PFC3B for Hardware forwarding and implemenation of features like qos, acl, netflow etc
PFC QoS does not support these policy map class commands:
•bandwidth
•priority
•queue-limit
•random-detect
•set qos-group
•service-policy

Bootloader and IOS image into a Catalyst 6509 running hybrid mode
Hi all,
I have a Catalyst 6509 running CatOS and IOS (hybrid mode)
The chassis is based on a SUP1A and a MSFC2
The MSFC is using images:
boot system bootflash:c6msfc2-is-mz.121-2.E
boot bootldr bootflash:c6msfc2-boot-mz.121-2.E
I would like to know if is possible to add the next command to the MSFC configuration in order to load the new image before erase the old one, even while the chassis boot using the old bootloader image:
boot system tftp c6msfc2-pk2o3sv-mz.121-26.E2.bin 10.10.5.15
Thanks.Thanks Amit, thanks Ankur,
Yeah! I know about the limits of the bootflash space as the PCMCIA option.
It is a bit complicated to explaint the situation here but I will try.
Neither the actual CatOS or IOS will recognize the new PCMCIA we bought to this upgrade. :P
First, I will upgrade CatOS using rommon and xmodem command in order to execute a new catos release that can view the PCMCIA, then I will format it and I will copy the new catos image and the new ios image there.
Then I will change the catos boot config and I will do a reset.
I must do that because the new release don't enter into the bootflash and the actual CatOS don't support boot from the network :P. It is CatOS 5.5.1 :PPP
After that, I need also to upgrade the MSFC because as I read that the actual IOS won't see the PCMCIA filesystem. In order to do that I would like to prepare the MSFC to boot from a TFTP server and then modify the configuration to boot from sup-slot0: forever :)
Let me know what do you think about this steps. -

HI,
We have upgraded the ACS SE 1112 as following.
Cisco Secure ACS : 4.0.1.42 to 4.1.1.23
Appliance Management Software:4.0.1.42to 4.1.1.23
Appliance Base Image needs to upgrade from 3.3.1.8 to 4.1.1.4 but we are not able to download the package at download centre as it is not available.
Kindly suggest for base image upgrade.
Regards,It should work as long as you don't miss anything, and yes you are supposed to install an agent that matches the version you are running. You might want to go ahead and put the latest updates on the ACS before you put it into operation. The process is kind of different than other updates. You might want to read my other ACS posts. I recently killed one of my ACS boxes because I did not install the CSUPdate cumulative patch before installing the lastest patch of the same rev level. (i.e. read directions carefully). Make sure you do an FTP backup before updating the software. If anything goes wrong you could have to reimage the box. There were lots of bug fixes in the updates since 4.1.1.

Wireless Controller Image Upgradation
Cisco recommends image upgrade procedure on 4402 WLC to the latest release 4.1 to be performed in three steps:-
1)3.1.105.0 ------>3.2.78.0
2)3.2.78.0 ------->3.2.195.13
3)3.2.195.13------>4.1.185.0
Unfortunately, while upgrade from 3.1.105.0 ------>3.2.78.0
I got the below error message as shown on both CLI and GUI as well.
"TFTP Failure while storing in flash!"
I have tried Tftpd32 which Cisco recommends also tried other TFTP versions a couple of times but resulted in the same error.
Could someone please suggest TFTP server software package which will support file transfers larger than 32 MB ?
Awaiting your reply and valuable suggestions.Hey Sanoj,
I've got similar restrictions on some of my controllers. One thing to keep in mind is that the controller won't actually load the new OS until you reboot. Depending on how restrictive your change control process is, you may be able to attempt loadint the software outside of your change window. Once you have a successful tftp transfer, you can schedule a window for a reboot, which will actually load the new OS. I wouldn't leave too much time between the tftp transfer and then reboot, but I understand your frustration with the tftp transfers... I have about an 80% failue rate on tftp transfers (using tftpd32) over any wan link, no matter how high I set my timeouts and retransmits. -
Image upgrade for 2811-Error SWIM5004
Hi ,
While doing the image repository of the 2811 routers I am receiving the below error, these errors only appearing when I am doing image upgrade/repository for 2811 routers only.
We cannot use the snmp write due to company policy. If any other solution exist then please advise me.
"SWIM1125: Failed to copy the image to Flash due to the reason - SWIM5004: Cannot initiate SNMP-set operation.
The SNMP Write Community String might be wrong.
Check whether the correct SNMP Write Community String is entered in Device and Credential Repository..
Retry the operation. If the problem persists, check the Bug Toolkit application for any known issues on the running image version.
We are using SNMP v3 and have checked the SNMP settings ,it is ok.
We have also verified that the TFTP service is working properly on the Ciscoworks server.
I am using
LMS:3.2
RME:4.3.1
THANKSIf you cannot use SNMP write access, you will not be able to use SWIM to upgrade this 2811 using TFTP. In order to upgrade the 2800s, RME will perform an SNMP Set of the CISCO-FLASH-MIB to trigger a copy of the image from the RME server to the router. You can use SCP instead in which case the device will be the server. In order to do this, you need to have SSH configured on the device, and the user configured in DCR must be allowed to login to the device with enable level access.

Cisco 6509 with Reliability 255/255, txload 238/255, rxload 8/255 interface
Hi there,
I'm having an issue with my Cisco 6509. One of Internet configured as trunk Interface direct with a HP7500 is showing reliability 255/255, txload 238/255, rxload 8/255.
The Issue is that my Cacti Server show me that only 10% of the link is in use but if you look at txload you can see that almost 100% of the bandwidth is in use..
What can I do in order to figure out what's going on with this Interface. I'm thing about to put wireshark and configure a port monitor in order to capture the packets.
Is anyone has any tip to do a troubleshoot with this issue??

Upgrade from Cisco Prime infrastructure verion 2.0 to 2.1
Request you all to please let me know if i have to install point patch before upgrading the cisco prime infrastructure 2.0 to 2.1.
After moving to 2.1, there is a 2.1.1 point patch currently available.
You should install that and the latest device package (4.0 as of this posting).
As always, the Release Notes are the best place to check the current available updates. -

Upgrading from cisco LMS 3.0 to a latest version
Hello,
Upgrading from cisco LMS 3.0 to a higher version.
Whatdoes it require?.
What is the current version?
What do we need for upgrading?
Are there specific codes or new need to buy new products?
In case of buying new products, which are the configurations?H Malik,
You are correct! Latest version is Cisco prime LMS 4.2. There is no direct upgrade from LMS 3.x to LMS 4.x.
The procedure is simple:
Take backup orf old LMS --> Un-install (if same machine)--> Install new LMS --> Restore backup to get old data.
You would need to purchase new license for it.Cisco Prime LMS is now part of the Cisco Prime Infrastructure bundle and is not orderable separately. Cisco Prime Infrastructure bundle follows a size-based incremental licensing model. Device licenses can be combined and added when applied to a single server installation instance. Customers have the option of adding incremental licenses for additional devices as their network grows.Refer to the Cisco Prime Infrastructure Ordering Guide located at http://www.cisco.com/go/primeinfrastructure for the exact part number that matches your requirement and placing the order.
Currently even SmartNet or SAS contracts does not cover major upgrades from LMS 2.x and 3.x; an upgrade part number will need to be purchased to move to Cisco Prime LMS 4.2. These upgrade part numbers reflect a significant discount to protect customers' investment in the Cisco Prime product line.
The data migration process will vary depending on the LMS version from which the data need to be migrated. Migrating data to LMS 4.2:
• LMS 4.2 supports local upgrade or direct inline upgrade only from LMS 4.0.1 and LMS 4.1.
• LMS 4.0 customers are encouraged to install LMS 4.0.1 before doing inline upgrade to LMS 4.2.
• LMS 3.2 and LMS 3.2 Service Pack 1 customers can do a remote upgrade through the LMS backup and restore mechanism.
• LMS 3.1, LMS 3.0, LMS 3.0 December 2007 Update, LMS 2.6, and LMS 2.6 Service Pack 1 customers need to do a remote upgrade to LMS 4.0.1 and then upgrade to LMS 4.2.

Regarding LACP commands on Cisco 6509 to connect server
Hi All ,
We have to connect two servers to cisco 6509 (sup720 with MFFC R7000) switches and we have to configure LACP on the 6509 to bundle two ports to get 2 Gbps through put.
Each server has four NIC ports ..out of which two ports will be connected to Switch 1 ( active ) and remaning two ports will be connected to switch 2 ( standby).
We are going to use below commands for LACP on both the switches.Apart from below commands do we need to have any other commands to make LACP to work as soon as we connect the servers.
Switch 1 :
set channelprotocol lacp 1
set port lacp-channel 1/1-2 73
set port lacp-channel 1/1-2 mode active
Set port vlan 10 1/1-2
set spantree bpdu-guard 1/1-2 enable
set port lacp-channel 1/9-10 85
set port lacp-channel 1/9-10 mode active
Set port vlan 10 1/9-10
set spantree bpdu-guard 6/9-10 enable
On the MFFC we have so many vlans along with vlan 10
int Vlan 10
ip address 10.10.10.2 255.255.255.0
standby 10 ip address 10.10.10.1
standby 10 timers 1 3
standby 10 priority 200
same series of port will be used on Switch 2 to connect servers.
Servers support LACP protocol only.
diagram is enclosed...If any suggetions on this would be appreciated..
Thanks ,
M S KInteresting I thought all sup 720's were non hybrid and used IOS only . Guess you learn something everyday. Looks like it should work with what you
have as long as the servers are setup with lacp in a active/standby mode. -

ThinkPad USB 3.0 dock network port has problems with our Cisco 6509 switch
We purchased a ThinkPad USB 3.0 dock for and X1 carbon and the main issue we are having is the network port does not seem to work with our Cisco 6509 switch. I tried updating the firmware on the dock but it still hasn't fixed the issue. I was wondering if anyone else had run into this problem with any other networks out there.
I'm seeing the same issue with a ThinkPad W520. When I connect my ethernet cable directly to the laptop, my internet speeds are on par with my service provider of 18 Mbps. When I move that cable to the dock, I will only see 1.5 Mbps. I have two displays attached to the dock and I'm running Windows 7. I've updated the dock firmware and have installed the latest system drivers. Is there anything else to try?
