Caused error -3256 when attempting to connect to external speakers.

I'm trying to connect to my Airport express using a PC running Windows XP home Edition SP 3 with iTunes 8.0.2 and getting the following error
caused error -3256 when attempting to connect to external speakers.
I've searched on teh internet and everything seems to relate to the Mac OS.
Anyone running XP had similar issues?
My AirportExpress is running FM 6.3
Thanks
Marcus

After reading this discussion thread, I've seemed to have solved the problem for myself. I'm using the Trend Micro PC-Cillin Firewall. I disabled it and the airtunes worked. So, I went into the firewall settings. There's the ability to edit the profile and add to an exceptions list. You select the executable program, select incoming or outgoing, I accepted the other default settings and it worked.

    Hi Jaigi,
According to your description, you want to change a report server database for Reporting Services. But it fails on the last step and returns a error. Right?
In this scenario, it seems you are creating a report server database on another server via remote connection. Based on the error message, it has issues on executing the script for generating new database. Please check if you have permission to connect the
server and create a new database. Also please check if the Reporting Services Windows services is working properly.
If you have any question, please feel free to ask.

  • Unknown error -3256 when trying to connect to itunes store

since I updated to itunes 7.0 I can't connect to the itunes store anymore. I really want to purchase new music and for over 3 weeks I haven't been able to connect anymore. It's so annoying! My internetconnection is always working perfectly. I have tried updates, reinstalled everything, but I can't get it to work. I would be so greatful for help!!!
The exact error message is: I tunes could not connect to itunes store du to an unknown error (-3256)

Dito to everything that has been said so far! In the UK though, we don't even have a phone number to be able to actually speak to someone about this. Apple better get on it and put some kinda statement on the site about it. Hate to admit this, but I've spent nearly the whole of Christmas Day stressing about this!! AAAAARGH!! Let's hope it gets sorted. However, I have read some other topics about it and other people are saying that their ipods stopped working after d/loading the latest software... Was gonna consider uninstalling it but without it you can't actually d/load any vids!! Total catch 22!
Merry Christmas folks! Let's keep our fingers crossed that it gets sorted!

  • Error 2 when attempting to connect to my 802.1x protected wifi network

Environment: We have 2 different wifi networks at work, one of which is WPA2 and the other is 802.1x protected. The WPA2 network is limited to domain authentication and basic web/mail traffic. The 802.1x network allows access to all resources of the domain, as provided by the access granted to my domain account. I have a Macbook Air 5,2 running Mac OS X 10.8.1 bound to a Windows 2008 active directory. I have a local administrative user account as well as a network account that has administrative access. The certificate for 802.1x is not signed by a trusted authority. This was explained to me as "it's fine, we made it" by our network admin. I am able to select the check box to always trust this certificate. This issue does not present itself with our other Macintosh systems or iOS devices. This is the first system we have that is running OS X Moutain Lion.
Problem: I can connect just fine to our WPA2 wifi network, but I'm having trouble connecting to the 802.1x wifi network.
Background: If I have my preferred wireless networks only configured with the 802.1x network, and I attempt to log in with my domain credentials I am told that network accounts are unavailable. If I log in with a local administrative account I am prompted for my domain credentials and am allowed to connect to the 802.1x network without issue. Once I'm connected to the 802.1x network, all resources are available as expected.
If I have my preferred networks configured with the WPA2 network I'm allowed to log in with my domain credentials. If I then attempt to change networks and connect to the 802.1x network, it asks me to continue with trusting the certificate from our domain controller, then I'm asked for my admin credentials in order to update the settings in my certificate trusts. I input my credentials, click update settings and am met with a long delay, sluggish performance (I'm not able to access any other app, not even finder), and am eventually I click cancel and am then met with an error stating there was a problem connecting to the network, the server has stopped responding. When I dismiss all dialogs, I notice the wifi network is joined to the 802.1x network after about 15 seconds without further input from me.
Once I'm connected to the 802.1x network, all resources are available as expected.
Goal: To have our Macbook Air connect to the 802.1x protected network by default so network users can log into this system and have full access to domain resources.
Below is a snippet of the console during the attempt to gonnect to the 802.1x network:

  • Error Message when attempting to connect to server directory List View.

I just transferred my entire Mac (User, Hard Drive Files, Network, Time & Date) from one MacBook Pro 2.4 Ghz to another MacBook Pro 2.4 Ghz machine. Everything seemed fine but the following.
My computer connects to a Mac OS X Server (10.5.2) in our office. After I connect to the directories by going to (Finder > Go > Connect to Server) and mount the directory to my desktop, I drag the directory to my Dock for one click access. Due to the shear volume of files in the directory, it is preferred to display the directory in a list (view). Following me so far? When I click the directory in the dock, the files appear in list view above the directory (as expected). However, here's the issue. *When I click on a folder in the pop up list of folders, I receive the following alert.*
    *The application cannot be launched.*
    -35
    I then hit OK.
Now, if I switch the view to Grid and click on a folder, no problem, the folder opens up in the Finder.
I am stuck on why this is happening and can't seem to find out what this -35 error represents.
Extra Note: I have already ejected the desktop mounted icon and trashed the alias from the dock and then reconnected all of them with no luck.
Thanks for any help you might be able to provide.
    Regards,
    Brent

Thanks for the comments and suggestions. I just spoke to an Apple Consultant and he claims he has seen the same error occur with his client's machines when he upgraded them to 10.5.3. He did offer a possible work around that I will try and let you know if it works.
He suggest I connect to the server/shared directory and mount it to my desktop. Then create an alias of that directory and hide it somewhere in my home folder (~/Documents/Server). Then drag that alias icon to my dock. Disconnect the directory still mounted on my desktop. With no directories connected, click on the alias in the dock and have it pull up the list view. He claims it works. Again, I will try it and report my findings.

  • Error message when attempting to connect to itunes store

When I try to go to the itunes store I receive an error message that says "the network connection was reset. Make sure your network connection is active and try again". I can connect to everything but itunes store. I have contacted itunes support and they say it is a problem with my network. My ISP is HughesNet. No one in their tech support seems to know anything about a Mac. Has anyone else experienced this problem?
    Thanks!

This is the only solution that worked for me. I tried the setting the date one year ahead, didn't work. Tried settings reset, didn't work. Tried using alternate apple ID, didn't work. This is the only thing that worked, hope it helps anyone else that other soluctions don't work.

  • Error mesages when attempting to connect laptop to WRT54GS v.4 router

When I try to hook up my laptop (Dell Inspirion) to my network, the icon in the tray says it's connected.  When I try to open IE I get a won't connect message.  When I run network diagnostics, I get an error message (112029) stating that my proxy can't be reached automatically.  Does this mean I should enter the settings for the laptop adapter manually?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My network is secured and my laptop is hooked up to the proper network.  I have tried everything.  I've undid the power cords from the modem and the router; I've changed the settings into every possible configuration.  (Or maybe not.)  Until I retired I was in Quality Assurance at Intuit, so I'm pretty proficient.  Any additional help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  • There was an error when attempting to connect to the Windows Live Calendar service.

I keep getting a message when I want to check my email you are not connected (but I am,as I can get in my Webbrowser) and the following error message
There was an error when attempting to connect to the Windows Live Calendar service. If the error persists, check to see if there's an upgrade of Windows Live Mail available or contact a service representative.
Can anyone help me, no sense sending me an email, I cannot get into my email.

    Hi,
Try installing Windows 2012 Live Essentials here.
You will have to set up your Pop 3 or IMAP email account after installing the updated version per above.
Are you using an Internet Service Provider Email  account or a cloud based (IMAP) Email account?
Pop 3 accounts will require incoming and outgoing server addresses and any additional security settings required by your ISP. If you don't have the required settings for Pop 3 you will have to contact your ISP for those.

  • Getting "No trusted certificate found" when attempting to connect to 10g DB

    Greetings,
I have an Oracle 10g DB configured to listen via TCPS. I am able to tnsping and sql+ into the DB just fine. However, when attempting to connect via SQL Developer, I get the following error:
*"Status: Failure -lo exception: sun.security.validator. ValidatorException: No trusted certificate found"*
    Here is my tnsnames.ora entry:
    EMCECCH01.CORPORATE.MY.COM =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCPS)(HOST = emcecch01.corporate.my.com)(PORT = 1575))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVICE_NAME = rambdb)
         (SECURITY = (MY_WALLET_DIRECTORY = C:\DBSafes\Cincinnati\dbSafe))
Obviously when I create my connection, I am using 'TNS'. I've also attempted to connect via the JDBC thin driver, but when testing the connection, it just sits and spins without ever returning a result. Here is the URL I'm using:
    jdbc:oracle:thin:@emcecch01.corporate.my.com:1575:rambdb
I've verified that the appropriate JAR files are in place in the jlib directory.
Any advice in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
    Regards

    Hi,
If your connection entry is unusual you could try these simple things that may cause variation/different code paths:
1/ORACLE_HOME being set /unset by for example a bat script before launching sqldeveloper [see in sqldeveloper help/about/properties/ oracle.home and jdbc.library to see what oracle is using]
(you could be using sqldeveloper or other oracle install jdbc)
    2/Tools/preferences/database/Advanced Parameters/Use oci thick driver set/unset
(you could be using 'pure' jdbc thin or 'mixture of c & java' ie. thick oci driver using another Oracle Home or instant client)
3/use Connection type=advanced then you can enter a fancy description (these descriptions are simple but you could have load balancing for example):
    thin is pure java
    jdbc:oracle:thin:@(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=MACHINE_NAME_OR_IP)(PORT=1521))(CONNECT_DATA=(SERVER=DEDICATED)(SERVICE_NAME=dev11gr1)))
    oci8 is thick/c/oci-java
    jdbc:oracle:oci8:@(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=MACHINE_NAME_OR_IP)(PORT=1521))(CONNECT_DATA=(SERVER=DEDICATED)(SERVICE_NAME=dev11gr1)))
(or get SQLDev to look up tnsnames.ora, connection type = tns might work)
Please post your findings and put in an enhancement request for particular connection feature support, documented with a test case.
