CBC streams won't play

Using iTunes' "Radio" function, I cannot get the CBC station streams in the Classical category to play.  Others seem to work OK.

OTHER
Connect the iPod to your computer and look at the storage used by the various categories as shown in the colored bargarph in iTunes.
Come back with the results.
What is the Other on my iPhone and How to Remove It
An "other" larger than about 1 1/2 GB usually indicates that the "other" includes corrupted files. Likely the podcast files
First try:
"First you go settings/general/usage/music/then left swipe over music and press delete and you would think it deletes your music but it doesn't instead it deletes your other but make sure your ipod is connected to a computer while doing this"
as recommended by:

Next, usually restoring from backup eliminated the corrupted files. However, sometimes restoring to factory settings/new iPod is required.

  • Video live stream won't play

My Maxx plays some live news videos and sometimes it does not depending on the site. I tried different video players like the MX and others to no avail. I tried on chrome
    And other browsers.
Not sure which way to go with this.
Any ideas would be much appreciated.

I went to a Verizon store (agent) yesterday after work and tried the S4. They didn't have a live S5, and it did play the sites I normally use. The iPhone was able to live stream it also. I think its the Razor Max that's missing whatever it needs to play those videos.... plug ins, etc....
Its mind boggling with all these phones out there.
Anyway, thanks for your input, Suzy.

  • M3u streams won't play in non-admin account

Using Firefox 3.6.8 with Win XP SP3 with auto updates.
After years of being able to go to Amazon.com and click on an mp3 preview button (streams m3u format), I can no longer do so in my user account - I get a "What should Firefox do with this file?" dialog. Clicking on the link works fine if I log in as admin - it plays seamlessly. When I look in my user account Options -> Applications form as non-admin, I see "M3U file" listed in Content Type. Action is "Always ask." That Content type is not listed in the admin account's browser's list.
It frustrates me to NO END when things that worked perfectly fine no longer work.
    Please advise!!!!

After looking at another post (How do I remove a filetype from the Applictions Menu), I succeeded in removing m3u from my Application's Content Type in my user-account but it did not solve my problem. I still get a "What should Firefox do with this file?" dialog.
    Crap!!!

  • Program stream won't play

The NPR Program Stream will no longer play in iTunes and I don't know how to fix it. I click on play and nothing happens. Any ideas?

I'm having a similar problem with my local NPR station since upgrading iTunes. In my case, I click on the "launch" button on the website and the streaming plays for about 5 seconds (the station identification), and then music from my iTunes library starts to play. I haven't changed anything other than upgrading to iTunes 9.
I have checked the website streaming on a PC using Windows Media Player, and it works fine there.

  • Audio stream won't play in Premiere, but does in FCP?

I got some footage to edit from a director who shot the project on the Sony XDCam3. He then converted the footage to MOV's in a software that Sony provides so he could give it to me to edit. He wants the project edited in Premiere Pro 5.5 because that's what he's got on his machine and if he wants to, he'd like to make changes later on. So, the problem is the footage imports fine. The video stream is there and plays, but the audio stream just seems empty. It's there, but no audio. I then tested the same clip in FCP and it works perfectly. Plays fine, video and audio. I'm not sure what the issue is. I'm attaching a screen shot of the specs on the clips if that might help get to the bottom of what my issue is. Thanks so much for any help on this!

  • Live stream won't play on Windows

We're using QTSS and QTBroadcaster to stream a live event. Everything works fine on Mac clients, but Windows clients simply can't get the stream unless it's opened directly in QuickTime Player. We have a website with an embedded link for the stream, and have tried setting it up using both a raw <embed> tag and javascript (per Apple's instructions).
Windows browsers display the page and the QT logo where the movie should be; no browser (Win or Mac) is able to display the stream directly, without an enclosing website. This is a change from last year, when we just put up a URL to the stream. It all worked last year; we didn't change a thing, and expected it to just work again. It doesn't. I am confused, frustrated, and more than a little discouraged and disgusted. Can anyone help? Thanks.

I was finally able to make the page work by adding attributes to pass to the QT plugin; it works using IE 7 and 8, and Safari; it does not work with FireFox on any platform (Windows or Mac), so we directed FireFox users to view the link directly in the QT Player or use a different browser.
Use the "Download the JavaScript files" link at http://developer.apple.com/internet/ieembedprep.html and save the file according to the instructions on that page. Then use the following bit of JavaScript on your page to embed the QT player, assuming the stream is at MY.WEBSITE.COM and is called QTMOVIE.SDP:
    <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
    QT_WriteOBJECT('samplemovie.mov', '540', '420', '',
    'qtsrc', 'rtsp://my.website.com/qtmovie.sdp',
    'autoplay', 'true',
    'type', 'video/quicktime',
    'emb#bgcolor', 'black',
    'align', 'middle');
    </script>
The embedded player (in this example) will be 540x420. It's important to include the player size, otherwise it tends to get masked and you will see only part of the picture (for example, a 200x160 piece in the middle).
Hope this saves someone else a little trouble.

  • Mms streams won't play

I ran the recent 10.6.4 update. A bit earlier in the day I ran a Flip4mac update. For whatever reason, I cannot stream an NPR station. The stream is mms://imedia.unr.edu/kunr. Quicktime replies that it does not recognize the mms prefix. Quicktime 7 runs the link fine. I note that VLC tries to open the link, but fails. Why doesn't Quicktime open the link? What changed?
Everything worked fine this morning. What's up?
    jm

Okay. I figured it out. Yesterday I ran two updates...the 10.6.4 update, and a Flip4mac update. Somehow, the mms:// stream from KUNR got associated with VLC. What threw me off was that the URL for the stream would not open manually with QT player.
I went to system prefs and clicked on the Flip4mac icon. Under the Player tab, there was an option to "reclaim file associations" for windows media files.
After clicking, everything was back to normal.
    Thanks for your support!

  • Video Streaming in Windows media player won't play through Airport Extreme

Hello and thank you for reading my issue.
I have the current square shaped airport extreme base station. My mother has a Windows XP system on her Toshiba laptop and she takes an online class which has video streaming for the lectures. When we connect to the network wirelessly or with an ethernet cable through the base station, the video will not begin to buffer and won't play from the website. It just states ready and doesn't buffer. However, if we connect the laptop straight to our cable modem without the base station, the videos stream and play perfectly. Anybody know how we can fix this to play through the wireless network? Thanks a lot.
MacBook Pro 2.33 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I've played with all sorts of software settings and configurations. This is what worked for me, but I'm not sure how it would work for anyone else, or if the issues are even related, but here goes.
1 - Turn multicast rate to 1 MBPS in the drop down menu found in Airport Utility>Airport icon>Wireless Options Button.
2 - Turn off multicast in Windows Media Player or Real Player
3 - Turn on Video Overlay Optimization check box in Real Player.
These things worked for me, hopefully they will help or give you some ideas for your own situtation.

  • Droid Razr Bug.  Won't play streaming audio from websites.

My Droid Razr won't play streamed audio from a website and won't play .wav files attached to e-mails.  That's annoying.
Motorola tech support said problem will be fixed upon next upgrade of Android OS.

Does anyone now of a quicker fix?
Does anyone know when an OS upgrade will be available for the Droid Razr?
    Thx!

i got the same issue on my ipod. i figured the whole idea of converting the format would solve the issue. never really found out how to solve it. i'll be watching this post to see if anyone has a solve for this issue.

  • HT2688 Having updated to iOS7, I am unable to upload a video to shared stream but when I do, it won't play on any device other than the one used to upload ... help

Having updated to iOS7, I am unable to upload a video to shared stream but when I do, it won't play on any device other than the one used to upload ... help please

I also have this problem, as does everybody else I know who has tried to use the video in icloud. As the original poster says, they can be uploaded, but will only play on the device from which they were originally uploaded, appeaering only as images which display an endless buffering symbol when "played" on any other devices with which the photostream is shared.
Has anyone been able to get this to work? And if not, why is there no acknowledgement from Apple that this bug exists and will be addressed in an update (now running 7.0.2 and still no improvement)? It was, after all, advertised as one of the attractive new features of iOS 7. So why the stony silence?

  • Attached videos in Lion Server (10.7.2) Wiki won't play or stream?

    Hello,
When we attach videos in the Lion Server (10.7.2) Wiki, they won't play/stream. Has anyone got this to work?
we have tried multiple Quicktime formats (.mov, .qt, .m4v, etc. - all with a variety of codecs that are native to QT/Apple)
we have tried viewing and posting from both OSX and Windows
once you click on the button to "play video", it gets stuck while loading
in other browsers it says additional software is needed to play this and displays the QT "Q" with a question mark
We don't have podcast services turned on (but I don't think this matters?). We are trying to view on desktop computers, not iPhone or iPad.
Any help or insight is appreciated. Thank in advance for your replies.

  • I have a first generation apple tv synced to a itunes library on an external USB drive. Movies and Music Won't Play

Here's my setup. First Generation Apple TV. G4 Powermac running OS X 10.5.8 iTunes 10 with the Library stored on an External 3 Terabyte USB 2 drive. It's plugged into a PCI USB 2 card. Everything worked fine till I transferred my iTunes library to the external USB drive. Things seem to sync up fine. I have it set to copy TV shows to the Apple TV's internal drive and that seems to work but when I try to play music or movies that are streaming from the library, I get an error. With movies I get the "The selected video cannot be played. The format was not recognized." error. The movie and music list seems up to date but now it won't play. Did I waste my money on this external drive? How do I get this setup to work?

I don't think this will be a complete answer to your question, but may point you in the right direction.
I have a similar setup (same OS X and iTunes versions), but my library is on a network attached 2TB harddrive (vs a USB 2 drive). Mine works fine, both syncing (which you don't have a problem with) and streaming. It's possible that iTunes doesn't like the USB 2 drive, but I don't know. Are you able to watch TV shows on your PowerMac after having moved the files to the USB drive? If you can watch content on your laptop but not on your AppleTV, it suggests the Apple TV doesn't like the USB drive.
Perhaps you didn't transfer iTunes library content correctly. (Forgive me if I'm telling you things you already know.) The iTunes library consists of a list of content and it's location (local harddrive, network drive, etc.). If you simply moved the files, but didn't actually update the library with the new locations, this can explain why you can't stream the content. The Apple TV displays what is in the library, but cannot play it if the library entry is pointing to the wrong location. Note: This "library update" I'm referring to is not the same as simply changing the iTunes media folder location in iTunes > Preferences > Advanced.
When I moved my content to an external drive, I had to delete everything in my iTunes Library, then re-import everything (File > Add to library). Don't let the phrase "delete everything in my iTunes library" freak you out. Deleting entries in the library is not the same as deleting the files (which you definitely do NOT want to do).
If you select an item in your iTunes library and press the Delete button, it asks for confirmation thus:
Are you sure you want to delete the selected TV show from your iTunes library?
It's OK to answer "Delete TV Show". It will then ask you if you want to delete the file. Do NOT delete the file. You can select your entire library and delete everything at once, just make sure you do NOT delete the files when it asks. When that is done, make sure the iTunes Media Folder Location is set to where you want and that the files are there. Then, go to File, Add to Library and re-import everything. It will take several minutes to more than an hour, depending on the speed of your computer and the size of your library.
I have had to do this everytime I've moved my library to different storage devices. If there is a simpler way, I am not aware of it.
    I hope this helps.

  • ITunes Won't Play Anything

iTunes (6.0.4.2) was working fine last week but this morning it won't play ANY files or even the sample tracks from albums streamed from the iTunes Music Store.
iTunes Update works fine for searching/downloading podcasts.
But, when I select any item in my Library, a downloaded podcast, or a iTMS sample track, and click on the play button (the right-pointing triangle) nothing plays. The button flickers momentarily but instead of the stop/pause button (vertical lines) button appearing, the play button is still showing. The name and duration information shows in the progress window at the top of iTunes but it too does not show that the item is playing. Last but not least, no sound comes out of my computer.
The only thing I can think of that changed from last week is that the Microsoft installer updated six items this morning. One of them included an update for Windows Media Player.
I've re-booted several times and all my other software seems to work fine.
    Only iTunes isn't working.
I have uninstalled/downloaded/installed iTunes from Apple's website but the symptoms do not change.
What can I do to troubleshoot/fix this so I can listen to my podcasts!?!
Thank you in advance for your help.

IBM ThinkPad T42   Windows XP Pro   SP 2 with most recent updates; 1.5 GB RAM

I uninstalled/installed QuickTime as you suggested and there were no error messages on either. To verify that the installation completed successfully, I played a movie trailer from Apple's website. The audio was fine but there was no sound. And, of course, there was no sound in iTunes.
Then I realized that the Windows startup/shutdown sounds weren't playing either so my problem is system-wide, not just a iTunes or QT problem.
I looked at Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices Properties and saw that no devices are listed in the "Sound Playback" device list. So, I guess that for some reason, WinXP isn't recognizing the sound capabilities built into the motherboard of my ThinkPad. I looked at the Device Manager and the Event Viewer and can't see anything obviously wrong.
I'm now in the process of downloading driver updates from IBM's ThinkPad support website.
For now, at least, I'm stuck with a dumb laptop...literally!
Any suggestions/links for how to troubleshoot/fix my sound problem would be most appreciated.
    Thank you very much.

  • ITunes won't play quicktime videos on Mac anymore.

    I'm using 10.7.3
    iTunes 10.6
    MacBook Pro 2.6Ghz 4GB ram
iTunes won't play my video anymore and it's been a while I'm not sure when it occured if it's after an update to snow leopard or iTunes updates...
When I double click a video I get "This movie requires QuickTime, which is not supported by this version of iTunes." ??
...and cannot convert the option doesn't work I get this other message when trying to convert a version for APPLE TV in advanced menu "None of the selected files were converted because they could not be found."??
But the movies are quicktime movies in my library and the MPEG-4 plays in iTunes but not on APPLE TV.
From all my videos I get one only going through APPLE TV and when I try opening it it says error occured why opening and never works??
It seems APPLE is regularly messing things up in updates to loose people so they have to pay for tech support, I didn't upgrade to iPhoto 11 and cannot import anything anymore into it so my entire library is a dead one ; not a cool way to do business than messing people software so they have to buy newer versions!!!
Any specialists that know how to fix this ??

The 32-bit solution has never, I repeat, never worked for me.  I've even done a full reinstall on a clean drive of OSX Lion with a fresh install of iTunes downloading a video of "The Big Bang Theory" that just came out this last thursday and still get the error (just finished the full reinstall to a clean drive now and, no, I didn't do any backup restores.)
The only solution I've found is to remove the video from iTunes, without deleting the file, then import the file back into iTunes.
Switching to 32-bit iTunes to run the file causes iTunes to tell me it needs to open iTunes to play the file then it sits and waits for itself to open until I cancel the process.  The video then plays without audio.
I have noticed that I can stream the files to my Apple TV to play even while getting the error trying to play them on the computer I downloaded the files onto.
As a result of this error, I've had to reduce the amount of content I purchase from iTunes.  no more buying whole seasons at a time unless I do it at the start of the season.  Even then, I'm reconsidering it.  The amount of work required to get the files into a playable status on the computer is simply too great on an on-going basis.

  • Flash player won't play on home pages

My flash player won't play on my browser's home pages.  My OS is : windows 7 64 bit ultimate and my browsers are :  Mozilla,Chrome, and IE.  I have owned this machine since laborday 2012 and all of them worked in the begining.  This has been going on for a couple of weeks and I would like to resolve it.  Video works normally in places such as youtube, but will not run on the browsers home pages.  The strange part of it is that it will run the advertisements, but after that is done it will just set there with the loading icon going for awhile until a message come on that states that the stream could not be found.  I just got done checking each browser to see if the players are up to date and they all where current..  Don't know what else to try.  Any suggestions ?  Thanks
