CBSpersist log automatically created and filling up drive. How do I stop sfc.exe from autorunning
I am working on a machine where the client complained that the drive kept filling up. Upon checking I realised that over 750GB was occupied with CBS logs. These logs are usually generated when SFC.exe (System File Checker) executes. However, they are being
created an average of 3 times a week and no one onsite is running SFC. The logs go back to 2012 so it appears that somehow SFC is autorunning..
I could not locate a scheduled task for it in Task Scheduler.
Is there a wasy to confirm that there is no schedule task other than again going through every single element.
Any ideas as to why it is happening and how to stop it will be greatly appreciated.
The machine is running Windows 7 Home Premium.
Hi,
Are we in a domain environment?
Did this issue occur on a special machine or with all the clients in the domain?
CBS is Component-Based Servicing, and CBS.log logged the information for CBS events. More information regarding CBS, please take a look at:
Understanding Component Based Servicing.
Could you please have a share with the recent log file before going further? There might be some issue keep logging in the log file. Upload it to skydrive if possible and post us the link here.
Best regards
Michael Shao

How do you stop mobile sites from loading in safari automatically on my iPad? I can't log into mobile me because of this.
The me.com website is not designed for or intended to be accessed by iOS devices. Apple provides support in iOS or seperate Apps for accessing all aspects of MobileMe except for the Accounts section.
Use MobielMe as intended and you'll have no problems.
See: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1673
Even if you use a different browser to get access to me.com on iOS, you'll find most of it is unusable.
Other websites that present you with the mobile version have been programmed to do so by their developers. They specifically look for users accessing from 'mobile' devices and switch to the mobile site. Many such sites provide a link to go back to the 'full' site, if not, there's not a lot you can do except use a browser that can pretend not to be a mobile browser. -

Woah there fella, if your files have been deleted and you still keep the same hard-drive you might want to use some undelete software first, such as http://www.officerecovery.com/freeundelete/ which I am not familiar with. Just make sure you recover the files into an external or different drive than the one you are recovering first... Otherwise it won't work. You could porbably restore most of your data this way, music and everything else.
Otherwise:
1. Open iTunes (latest version).
2. On the left ruler, under "Store", click on "Purchased".
3. On the bottom right of the screen click on "Download Previous Purchases".
4. Download whatever you like. -
how do i stop my itunes from changing the location of my itunes media. i have it saved on a external HD and it keeps changing back to my local drive with out being told
No, an external drive will not always be mounted. If the drive goes to sleep, it can unmount, or it may unmount for other reasons. As Chris said, confim that the drive is mounted and active before launching iTunes.

I uploaded to Maverick and now my mail always cc's me on every email I send out. I have checked Preferences and the Composing Automatically CC button is unclicked. How can I stop this?
Sounds like your phone has the jitters.
This is sometimes caused when a DLL fle is missing when you restore, so the ipsw pacakge wasn't installed corectly.
You could back up and restore, but if it doesn't help go to http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/ and then download the same firmware your on.
Open up iTunes and hold Shift+Restore and select that firmware, you can't use anoy ther firmwares though.
Hope this helped -
how do i stop my ipad from automatically deleting my hotmail inbox and putting it into pop trash? It has only started doing it since i synced with my MacBook Air
If emails are being deleted, then it's not the Apple products, it's the POP account. When one device reads an email, it's removed from the server, so the other devices can't get that same email. That's a POP account.

I received an email from an acquaintance with her handwritten personal signature at the bottom. Is thereafter way for me to create and use such signatures at the end of my emails from apple products?

Every time I restart my mac air some applications like calendar and Microsoft word automatically starts, how can I stop such applications from starting when ever I restart my mac?
One thing to check: when shutting down or restarting, there is a checkbox in the shutdown/restart dialog which asks whether you want currently open applications to open at startup.

My husbands new iphone syncs with my old iphone. All my notes when to his phone. I don't want this to happen. How do I stop my notes from going to his phone. Thanks
Unless as part of a backup, or stored somewhere else, they are gone.
Your son needs his own Apple ID for iCloud, FaceTime & iMessage. He can continue to use yours for iTunes content, but for everything else, he needs his own.
When you did what you did, as far as iCloud knows, this is the same person with multiple devices, and that's they way things are supposed to work: keep everything in sync. -
How do i stop my programs from automatically popping up when i turn on the computer?
how do i stop my programs from automatically popping up when i turn on the computer?
When you log out or shut down, there will be a checkbox that asks you if you want to reopen windows when you log in. Just uncheck this box. If that isn't it, you may have login items turned on. Go to System Preferences>Users and Groups and then under your name click the Login Itens tab. Make sure nothing is there.
If you want to stop windows from restoring when you open applications (so for example when you open Safari it doesn't open the 50 tab page you just had open when you quit) go to SystemPreferences>General and then hit the checkbox that says Close windows when quitting an application. -

How do I stop an app from waiting? I have tried to reboot by holding the home key and power button to power down. The app is still grayed out and waiting so it cannot be deleted. Also, I have tried to sync the apps from my laptop and tried downloading new appswith no success. Can you help? Thanks
If there are multiple apps trying to download at once, only one can download at a time and the rest say "Waiting" until it is then their turn. Try this. Double tap the icon of the Waiting app, and it should resume the download.

Another thing to try - Turn the iPad Off & then back ON.
If that doesn't work:
• Log out of your iTunes store account. Go to Settings > Store > Sign Out Then press the Home button.
• Then press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously and don't release them when it brings up the Turn Off screen; keep holding them until the Apple logo appears.
• After restart, the Waiting should be gone.
