CBWFQ and PPP Multilink
Hi all,
I have tried to configure CBWFQ and PPP Multilink on an ISDN BRI interface
with DDR. The dialer load-threshold is set to 1 so that both b-channels of the BRI interface are connected when the link comes up.
I need a traffic class with a minmum of 80Kbit/s on this link, but largest bandwidth I'm allowed to configure is 48Kbit/s .
I have tried it directly on the BRI interface and with a Dialer interface.
Both the same effect. When I configure the policy-map into a Dialer interface the policy is also configure to the attached physical links and there the smallest availabe bandwidth is 64k regardless of how many links are configured for multilink.
The configured bandwidth on the BRI is also set to 128k.
So, does anyone know a trick to configure a class with 80k on a DDR/PPP multilink connection which persists of several ISDN b-channels.
Thanks for twist your minds. :-))
Udo
Try giving the required bandwidth in percentage
I think this URL explains a problem that looks similair to yours, hope this helps.

Hello,
please Urgent Help
I have ASR 1000 with asr1000rp2-adventerprisek Version, when I give PPP Multilink to the dialer interface it show following error :
FMFP-3-OBJ_DWNLD_TO_CPP_FAILED: F0: fman_fp_image:
MLP bundle , link download to CPP failed
please urgent helpthis error comes with the command PPP multilink, it is a lot of letters and numbers and then this last line comes this message
FMFP-3-OBJ_DWNLD_TO_CPP_FAILED: F0: fman_fp_image:
MLP bundle 181, link 178 download to CPP failed
the configuration still not installed but I configured just the following lines
interface Virtual-Template
ip unnumbered Loopback2
ip mtu 1440
ip load-sharing per-packet
ip tcp adjust-mss 1400
no logging event link-status
peer default ip address pool
ipv6 unnumbered Loopback2
ipv6 enable
no ipv6 nd suppress-ra
ppp authentication pap chap callin
ppp multilink
ppp multilink fragment delay 100
ppp multilink mrru local 1546
that were the lines used to configure this Dialer, the image must be asr1000rp2-adventerprisek and not Ipbase but I dont tried to use IPbase.

Hi
I am having a problem configuring ip rtp with interleaving on two 1721's prioritizing voice traffic between two ip voice devices over a 128k point to point link. This is my config...
interface Multilink1
ip address 192.168.24.2 255.255.255.0
no cdp enable
ppp multilink
ppp multilink fragment delay 20
ppp multilink interleave
ppp multilink group 1
ip rtp header-compression iphc-format
ip tcp header-compression iphc-format
ip rtp priority 8100 100 40
interface Serial0
bandwidth 128
no ip redirects
no ip unreachables
no ip proxy-arp
encapsulation ppp
ppp multilink
no cdp enable
Everytime I add the 'ppp multilink' to the serial, I get the virtual-access interface bouncing up and down with no traffic flowing.
any ideas?Cannnnnnnnt see much wrong, try adding "ppp multilink group 1" to int S0 config.

2 PPP multilinks between same 2 routers
Gents ,
One of our customers wants 2 PPP Multilinks between the PE and his CE.
Both of them never come up together although all member links are active and up.
When i tried to administratively shut down one of them the other comes up and vice versa.
Please give me your opinions and advices.
Thank you.Hello ,
Ok i will make it much clearer now , we have 4 E1 leased lines between the PE and the CE with static routing between the PE-CE.
The customer is splitted into two major dept's or zones so he wants two separate links with different IP's joining between him and us.
We put 2 E1 links in each multilink and after that we discovered what i've recently described.
Both of the MLPPP never become active at the same time. i.e You should disable one of them inorder for the other to be active and reachable via layer 3 information.
Thank you and i appreciate your response. -
Where do I enter PPP user name and PPP password?
Where do I enter PPP User Name and PPP Password when installing a new modem? I followed directions for installation but a dialog box asking for those items didn't come up.
I reset the Wi-Fi on the System Preference > Network Pane after turning off all my wireless devices, MBP, iPad, iPhone, Canon MG5320 printer/scanner, and HP LaserJet Professional P2606N (this printer is connected via ethernet to AirPort Extreme).
I did this because of the following message:
Another device on the network is using your computer’s IP address (192.168.0.1)
Following directions I unplugged the PK5001Z Modem, plugged it back on, and then turned on each wireless device, one at a time so that unique IP addresses would be created for each one. This worked, but now I'm trying to get our Smart HD Samsung TV to connect to the internet.
Setting up the IP Internet settings, we are using the Network Name and entering its IP address manually and also having the setup find the IP address automatically. It connected to the modem but couldn't complete the connection to the internet.. Also use a Guest Network, but that didn't work either.
Is the PPP User Name and PPP Password still necessary? It was given to me by our service provider and was original in 2012.
BonnieI found the Modem GUI Logo setup on the web for my modem using the address of my IP address with http://xxxxxxxxx.
Everything looks good.
The internet connection with the TV is still a problem. -
LMS 3.2 DFM and PPP interface traps
Hello,
I have a problems with traps from PPP links. Traps are corectly send from device, LMS server receive traps, but these traps are not displayed in DFM. I'm using SNMPv2c (SNMPv3 doesn't work properly). Information about link down is corectly diplayed in DFM syslog, but I have not any informations in a Fault History.
Can you help me?
Regards,
MartinDFM doesn't process link down traps except to determine if a link is flapping. You will not see link down traps in the DFM Alerts and Activities Display. Instead, DFM will use SNMP and ICMP polling to determine if an interface goes down. This will not happen for all interface types, though. These PPP interfaces may be learned as dial-on-demand interfaces by DFM, and thus will not report when they go down. If these links should be up all the time, then you will need to customize an interface group in DFM to match these interfaces, then enable the desired threshold information for these interfaces. You will still not see link down traps in DFM, but DFM should show OperationallyDown events in AAD based on the polling it does.

we config qos on mpls network.use llq in CBWFQ. i have a question.
if i config LLQ for bandwidth 1m on 2M E1 line, and business data 0.5M(CBWFQ),defautl class 0.5M(CBWFQ). can i config this llq burst to 2M if line does not congest. or can i config business data or default class burst to 2M when line does not congest.
IF line congest. can llq and business, default class get gurantee bandwith?
i find when i config llq,i can use burst parameter:
priority bandwidth burst
when i need llq to burst to 2m, Does i need config this burst parameter. or i don't need config this burst parameter, i can get burst too.
thank you!
Tom(Yet another explanation.)
"if i config LLQ for bandwidth 1m on 2M E1 line, and business data 0.5M(CBWFQ),defautl class 0.5M(CBWFQ). can i config this llq burst to 2M if line does not congest."
LLQ should allow up to the full 2 Mbps, if there's no congestion. If there's congestion, LLQ will police itself at the rate specified. More on bursting, below.
"or can i config business data or default class burst to 2M when line does not congest."
Either the business data or default classes should also be able to obtain full bandwidth, if there's no congestion. Excess demand will queue the excess packets.
"IF line congest. can llq and business, default class get gurantee bandwith?"
Yes, if there's congestion, LLQ will police its traffic, i.e. immediately drop excess, other classes will queue excess traffic; will drop if queues overflow (and/or WRED drop).
"i find when i config llq,i can use burst parameter:
priority bandwidth burst
when i need llq to burst to 2m, Does i need config this burst parameter. or i don't need config this burst parameter, i can get burst too."
If you specify burst, you're really adjusting the time interval the policier operates. I believe the default is based on 200ms, so if there's more than 25,000 bytes (1 Mbps * .2 sec / 8 bits/byte), the excess will be dropped. (All the non-dropped bytes will transmit at full rate.)
When to adjust burst? If your traffic's long term average is under your LLQ bandwidth setting, but short term traffic rate is very variable (e.g. many video streams), you should increase the burst size to avoid dropping packets. -
CBWFQ and Priority Q Scheduling with IOS
All,
I have a question in regards to scheduling in QoS.
I have below 2 priority queues (both pri quese go into one queue we beleive), and 3 CBWFQs.
The qestion is, how are these queus scheduled. I know that priority Qs will be emtied before moving onto the CBWFQ.
On the CBWFQ side, how are these scheduled, in a round-robin way? or is the amount of time they get serviced increased, the bigger the bandwidth statement is configured (Like custom-queuing and bigger queue configured in terms of bytes equates to more time being scheduled to empty the queue before moving onto the next queue)
policy-map carrier_cos
class carrier_EF
priority
police 1605000 8000 8000 conform-action transmit exceed-action drop
class carrier_AF4
priority
police 1530000 71500 71500 conform-action transmit exceed-action drop
class carrier_AF1
bandwidth 6120
class carrier_bulk
bandwidth 5480
class class-default
bandwidth 15265
Sounds to me like CBQFQ is a mixture of priority-queueing and custom-queuing combined.
Many kind regards for you help with this question.
KenThx for that.
So, if I have a 1M/bit cct and have CBWFQ running.
CBWFQ 1 = Bandwdith 600
CBWFQ 2 = Bandwdith 200
CBWFQ 3 = Bandwdith 200 (class class-default)
assume interface is congested. How does the scheduler work?
Is it, within a time period, (let say 1second) it will spend 600ms servicing Q1, then move onto Q2 and spend 200ms on that queue before moving onto Q3 where it will spend a 200MS servicing that Queue and then go back to Q1?
Correct me if Im wrong, but is that the same as Custom Qeueing?
1 Second is a long time so what timer interval is used.
Remember is a 1M/bps circuit.
Kindest regards, and many thx.

Hi Guys,
i got a situation here and hope someone will be able to help me out. Recently i configured a PPP multilink and am facing some issues after that.
Issue 1:
There seems to be lot of input error on multilink interface (150 errors in 40 mins)
Issue 2:
when any of the multilink member interface goes down (all other links are active), am getting packrt drops and request timed out when i ping my other end multi link interface atleast for some 30 sec , after which my response is ok.

VWIC2-2MFT-G703, cRTP and Multilink
Hello,
I wish to know if it is possible aggregate 2 E1/G703 data link in order to increase bandwidth up to 4 Mbps (2x 2 Mbps) with the card VWIC2-2MFT-G703, by using ppp encapsulation with the multilink feature.
I have read several documents and according to them, I conclude that this setup is possible but I can not test it.
Does somebody can confirm that such setup is possible ?
With the same idea, with 2 cards (VWIC2-2MFT-G703) is it possible to get 8 Mbps (2x 2 Mbps per card) ?
I will use 18xx or 29xx routers.
Next, with this setup, I whish to enable cRTP.
I suppose that I can enable this feature on the Multilink interface with something like that:
===
interface Mutlilink <group-number>
ip address <address> <mask>
encapsulation ppp
ppp multilink
ip rtp header-compression ...
===
Does somebody can confirm that cRTP is available with such setup (multilink with VWIC2-2MFT-G703 card) ?
Thanks for your Help.

Hi,
As a lot of other user in this forum i'm struggling with modem and PPP.
My question is regarding Dialup thru modem using PPP to an ISP and also
using DHCP client.
I have, i think, configured most of it correct but something is missing.
What confuses me is exactly how to get the HDCP client configured to my
PPP interface.
I have setup the following file /etc/uucp/Devices
/etc/uucp/Dialers and /etc/uucp/Systems
The file /etc/asppp.cf is a bit unclear to me if i should configure
my ppp interface, ipdptp0: with soem dhcp parameters or if this should
be done before ? Should i have the files /etc/hostname.ipdptp0 and
/etc/dhcp.ipdptp0 ?
What happens is that when i run " cu -d -L [ISP name]
it dials and starts handshaking with modem at ISP. But when looking
form another dterm window, " ifconfig -a " i never see an IP address
getting configured to the interface and the modem is disconnected
after a while. Not sure if it's a login validation with user/passw
that fails or if it's something with the dhcp client.
Anyone have any hints, i gone thru a lot of Sun docs.
Thanks.Hi,
I found a very promising Internet link which goes thru very detailed
how to setup a connection to ANY ISP. This is the so far most detailed i ever seen around this area.I will look there.

Troubleshooting Multilink Group (Serial)
Hi,
I have been asked to look at a colleague's problem and I haven't touched multilink in a while, so when I looked at the initial output form various 'show' commands I think there still might be an issue. He has indicated that everything is working fine now but I have attached the output of the show command after this had been mentioned. With one of the serial interfaces as 'Down Down' and also showing as one member link as 'active' and one as 'inactive'. Any pointers would be appreciated, as I cannot help but think that only one circuit is working.
Attached is the sh int for both serial interfaces, multilink interface and sh ppp multilink. Also attached is the config for the router.
Thanks in advance.I agree that you seem to have a problem.
(BTW, There is something that does not quite add up in the listings, because your show run show both serial links in shutdown.)
Nevertheless, the most useful output would be to do a debug ppp multilink and debug ppp negotiation, and then bounce the interface that is not joining the bundle correctly, and see what comes out.
Also, if you shut down 0/2/1 and try and bounce 0/2/0, does 0/2/0 then join the multilink bundle OK?

Hello,
We 've got a dial problem with a 2811 branch router (ISDN2) and a 7206 central router (2*ISDN30)
Wehn the 2800 dials in no problem.
When threshold comes up no problem.
But when the second B-channel closed the 2800 doesn't route trafic any more.
Routing protocols still work.
Extended ping from the routers FE interface to de central location form.
But a device connected to the FE interface cannot ping the remote site.

I've got a problem that I could use some input on. We have several
Cisco 804 routers that we use for our teleworkers at home. They have
standard PC's that connect to the ethernet interface on the router
and to a Siemens phone with Optiset teleworking adaptor via 9 pin
serial cable and COM1 port on the PC.
On the router, we are running the BRI0 and Dialer1 interface with
PPP multilink. I can get the router connect to our DC here in
Seattle without problem. The problem comes while trying to use
Siemens callbridge.
With the phone connected to POTS2 and not signed into callbridge, I
can pickup the handset and get a dial tone. I then sign into
callbridge which takes the phone (via the serial cable) and connects
it to a server (over Ethernet) here in our office in Seattle. This
succeeds, however when we then go off hook while signed into
callbridge, we don't get a dial tone.
I should step back for a second and state then when not signed into
CB, and pick up the phone, we'll see the router release BRI0:2 and
give it a voice (dial tone) signal. When signed into CB, this does
not happen. We are also seeing the error below:
ISDN BRI0: isdn_is_bchannel_available: No Free B-channels
I've got ISDN Events and q931 debugging on and am not seeing anything beside the error above that would point to a problem. Cisco has a 20 page debug all that they are going through to search for an answer.
Any chance that anyone has worked with this before?
Thanks,
JamesI would say that this is because the router is connected over 1 b channel to your seattle office and then when you log in with your callbridge you are using the second b channel so when you goto use the phone the router simply has no more b channels to use to carry your phone call which is why you get no dial tone.As BRI ONLY HAS 2*64Kbits b channels and 16Kbits d channel(signalling)
