cc 18 cloud version installed(windows) old files cc17 crashes......help

Crash,
There can be a number of reasons for crashing.
To overcome a possible file corruption, you may try to create a new document and File>Place the corrupted one to see how much may be rescued that way (remember to tick Paste remembers Layers in the Layer palette flyout/dropdown first, and to untick it afterwards).
Here are some websites where you can see whether it can rescue the file, and if it can, you may pay for a subscription to have it done,
http://www.recoverytoolbox.com/buy_illustrator.html
http://markzware.com/adobe-software/fix-illustrator-file-unknown-error-occurred-pdf2dtp-fi le-recovery/
http://www.illustrator.fixtoolbox.com/
As far as I remember, the first one is for Win and the one is for Mac, while the third one should be for both.
Here are a few pages about struggling with it yourself:

http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/500/cpsid_50031.html
http://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/enable-content-recovery-mode-illustrator.html
To overcome a possible CC18 corruption, you may look at the list.
The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file (you may have tried/done some of them already); 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
If possible/applicable, you should save curent artwork first, of course.
1) Close down Illy and open again;
2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to at least 5 times);
3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
Even more seriously, you may:
6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

    What should I do ?

    Hi,
To delete Windows.old file, you should use DISK cleanup in drive properties.
To delete the item during system boot option, WIN+R, open
Run, type msconfig, then Switch to boot. Delete the boot item which you want.

  • Windows.old files missing! Help! Someone!

Recently my ASUS laptop was experiencing some serious lag issues, so I decided to refresh it. After refreshing, all my contents are stored in the windows.old file. I had been informed that it has 28 days limit before windows deletes your files.
    TL;DR
It was the second day after the refresh, I let my laptop run idle as I was taking a nap. After that, I went to check on some applications. It said "Shortcut not found". I went to check the windows.old file. It was still there, with only one file
inside, a file of an open application that was let running idle. Everything else is gone.
It was only the second day, I told my friends about it but they also don't know the answer to this.
Please help! I really need those files, I've decided that I will move those files today, but now this had happened.

    Hi Shadow,
Yes, after upgrading to Windows 8.1, the Windows.old file will keep for 28 days.
However, if you reset, refresh, or reinstall Windows in that 28 days., it will create a new Windows.old and remove the old one.
Thus I am afraid you cannot get your old Windows.old content.

I cannot find your audio driver on HP's support page, but I was able to locate this one, which is the same driver as yours, just the most recent version. According to what is listed, it supports Windows 8. Give it a shot and let me know if it works for you.

i'm trying to install windows xp onto my macbook. a tutorial i looked up online said i should choose the option: "format the partition using the FAT file system" on the setup page. when i choose it, it says it will delete all my files and i didn't back them up (i know, stupid). should i choose something else? these are the other options i have:
format partition using NTFS File system <quick>
    " " using FAT file system <quick>
" " using NTFS file system
" " using FAT file system
    convert the partition to NTFS
leave the current file system intact <no change>
and i don't know if it's important to know or not, but i chose 5 GB to run windows on. and i also don't know what version of mac os x i have =/

  • Replacing a hdd and installing Windows 7.... Help, please!!

    I am not very technologically-minded.
I have a Toshiba Equium L40 laptop running Vista with a 120Gb hdd.
I thought it might be a good idea to upgrade the hdd and install Windows 7.
Am I right in thinking that the easiest way to do this would be to install the new hdd first [320Gb].
Then install the Toshiba Recovery disc [to install the appropriate drivers].
    Then install Windows 7.
Is this the easiest/best way, guys?

    Hi Clive..
    Thanks for your advice.
Just to clarify, to follow your advice, would I download the device drivers first?
If so, from where? And which device drivers?
I would like to install the larger hdd (320Gb). I have already bought one - and I need it for all the media material I have now accumulated.
Would you suggest, therefore, simply installing the new hdd. And then installing Windows 7 (clean install). And then the device drivers?
I was originally thinking of installing the new hdd followed by an installation of the Vista recovery disc - since this would install enough device drivers and necessary Toshiba programmes to enable me to update device drivers thereafter.
I have never done this before. So if my proposed sequence of actions sounds 'bobbins', please excuse me!
[The man in the shop said installing a new hdd and then installing Windows 7 was easy if you knew what you were doing - but not at all easy if you didn't.]

  • After a clean install, what old files to put back in?

Was having nothing but trouble after upgrading from Tiger to Leopard on my G5 tower. Biggest problem was Safari taking 3 minutes or so to boot up—did all the suggested cleaning of prefs, etc., but nothing worked. Also Elements would pop up once on the dock then quit, as would Ready!Set!Go, and a new FruitMenu from Insanity didn’t load properly.
So went ahead and got out an old hard drive, hooked it up, and put a clean install Leopard on it. Booted from it, and guess what-- Safari comes right up, Elements installed and works as it should, and everything is looking good. Did a 10.5.7 upgrade, put in the Safari software update, and it’s booting right away also.
This is great, so now I’ll do a clean install on my original drive, and then pull the pics, music, etc. from my Time Machine back up disk to it. Here is what I need advice on:
Which files do I pull over from my old user account and System Library to get the prefs, mail, etc. that I was using before, and more importantly, which files DON’T I want to pull over and perhaps screw up the new user account and system.
    Thanks ……….

  • How to identify the Photoshop Trial or Licensed version installed, only through files/registry ?

    Hi,
    Please help me out here.
I need to identify the Adobe Photoshop CS4 Trial installation to that of fully purchased/licensed installation,
    only using files/registry entries.
    Thanks in Advance.

To back up what Mylenium said you can take the trial download and insert your s/n of the purchased copy and it will be  a fully licenced copy.
If you had a trial and let it expire you should uninstall it.  I am just guessing, but if you see it in your program list and open it should be obvious if trial or not.  Uninstalled trials can cause Bridge to have error "need to activate from parent program".

  • Install Windows 8.1 BootCamp drivers on old MacBook (Late 2008)

Here is how I installed BootCamp drivers for 8.1 on my old MakBook (Late 2008):
Download Boot Camp 4.0.4033 (Drivers for old MacBook is in this version)
Install Windows 7, then WIndows 8.1 (There are other threads on how to do that).
After Windows 8.1 installed, try to install Boot Camp 4.0.4033 again !!! (Reason: Only this version has the drivers for old Mac like mine)
Download and install InstEd on Windows 8: http://www.instedit.com/download.html. You need this to modify the BootCamp 4 MSI installer to allow you to run it
Run InstEd, click File > Open, browse to your <BootCamp_4.0.4033>\BootCamp\Drivers\Apple folder and choose BootCamp64.msi.
Click LaunchCondition on the left-hand list.
Select all the rows then right click Delete Rows. (Take a look, you will find thses are the messages you saw when you could not run the installer)
Save the file with a new name (I used bootcamp4.msi) and quit InstEd.
Now, you can install the BootCamp 4 drivers on your Mac, by click the Setup.exe (Yes, this will also instll TrackPad driver for old Mac)
The BootCamp 4 service application itself is not compatible with Windows 8.1, (not the drivers). So just download BootCamp 5.1.5621, and install it (Tip: InstEd).
After restart, click the BootCamp icon in the system tray. Set up TrackPad, Keyboad, etc. (How is this possible? Because the drivers were installed by BootCamp 4.0.4033.)
    Unstall InstEd, if you want.
    Enjoy!

    And I used this method:
    1. Install Windows 8.1
    2. Download BootCamp 5 and unzip to folder BootCamp5 of a USB drive
    3. Start CMD as Administrator
    4. Install BootCamp 5 by entering the following commands
D: (Assuming the USB drive is assigned to letter D
    CD BootCamp5\BootCamp\Drivers\Apple
    BootCamp.msi
No need for InstEd might be considered by some as even more elegant as bezodziu's method

  • How to install Windows 7 via Boot Camp on late 2012 iMac

These notes reflect the installation of Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit on my late 2012 27” iMac with a 3 TB fusion drive and running OS X Mountain Lion version 10.8.4.
After launching Boot Camp Assistant, click “Print Installation & Setup Guide” and keep this handy throughout the process.  There are specific details in the Boot Camp Guide that are not covered by my notes.
Don’t do like I did and expect to start at 11:00 PM on a work night and have Windows 7 working before 1:00 AM - it can take much longer.  Many of the activities are best monitored instead of going to bed hoping that next morning will greet you with success.
Download Windows 7 ISO file from Internet and burn to a blank DVD
    Insert a blank DVD
    Start Disk Utility.
From the File menu, choose “Open Disk Image” and select the ISO to be burned.
In the list of volumes, you will now see an item representing the ISO file. Select it.
Click the Burn button and follow the instructions.
Be patient.  In my case the ISO burn seemed to be stuck at 80%.  I walked away for a bit and returned to find the DVD successfully burned.  This is an exception to not walking away during the Boot Camp process.
Although you should be able to burn the ISO to DVD with any external burner, in my case I found that an Apple USB SuperDrive worked during the Windows installation whereas an otherwise reliable third party CD/DVD/Blueray burner was not recognized by Boot Camp 5.0.3.
If you simply burn the ISO file to the DVD, the DVD will not work.  A simple check is to view the DVD’s contents after it has been burnt.  If it contains a .iso file only, then you can place that DVD in the trash and start over.
Take some to think through how much space you want to dedicate to Windows 7 that will be taken from your OS X allotment.  If you change your mind later, you will need to start the process over, including reinstalling and reactivating Windows 7 and any other specialized software you’ve installed.  In my case, I partitioned 251 GB to Windows 7 and that left 233.7 GB free during installation.
When you are ready to begin partitioning your hard drive, unplug all unnecessary USB drives.  This includes external drives and your Time Machine drive.  Use a USB keyboard with a USB mouse plugged into a USB port on the keyboard.  Plug the USB flash drive containing Support Software you created with Boot Camp into a regular USB port.  On the iMac, I used the port nearest the right side of the monitor while facing the screen.  You also need the USB SuperDrive plugged in with the Windows 7 install disk in the drive.  Boot Camp jumps from partitioning straight into installation.
Although the Boot Camp Guide indicates your Mac will default launch in Windows during installation, mine rebooted into OS X each time.  When the screen goes white, just hold the OPTION button and select the Windows drive (not the Windows DVD).  Be patient.  It may look like the Mac is refusing to accept your selection of Windows, but it could be just a little slow to launch.
If you end up installing Windows 7 more than once due to crashes, confusion or whatever, check for a Windows.old file after you’re finished.  If it exists, you can delete that file.  It’s a place Windows 7 places files from previous installs in case you need to save something.
As of this writing, I need to use a USB keyboard to use OPTION to have the option to launch Windows 7.  Once in Windows, my Logitech K760 bluetooth keyboard works fine.  It takes too long for bluetooth to sync for the keyboard to keep up with the Mac booting up.  Although Windows 7 recognizes my second monitor and the drivers are up to date, the second monitor has a black screen and windows cannot be moved onto the second monitor.
I hope that Apple continues to develop Boot Camp and improve the Installation Guide for future users.  When Apple advertises a feature, such as Boot Camp, there is an expectation amongst consumers that it will simply work.  When a key feature fails to live up to expectations, it reflects poorly on Apple.
    Thank you,
    Steven Cagle

Have you tried a USB installer?
Boot Camp Assistant will now ask if you want to install the Windows installer with the Boot Camp Dirvers onto a USB drive on some supported and not so support machines.
Do a search for "Windows USB installer" on Yahoo/Google and there should be quite a few.
