CC 2014.2 settings migration

Hooray! I've finally updated CC.. However, following through on these procedures..migrating settings and plug-ins for After Effects CC 2014 (13.0) | After Effects region of interest
And have come across another issue.
"At the bottom of the General pane in the After Effects Preferences dialog box is a Migrate Previous Version Settings button. If you have After Effects CC (12.x) installed on the same computer, then clicking that button will give you a dialog box with an option to migrate settings from that version to After Effects CC 2014 (13.0). If you choose to migrate settings, then you need to restart After Effects for the new settings to be loaded.
The settings that are migrated include preferences, keyboard shortcuts, output module templates, composition settings, render settings, and interpretation rules."
I have just updated and all the old software is on here as I haven't touched anything, but as I try to "Migrate previous version settings" I'm told no previous versions of After Effects can be found... What on earth am I supposed to do here?! I'm updating from cc12.2.1.5. I just want my workspaces moved across from the old version!
I'm also having trouble checking/ updating the cuda supported cards? I normally manually add my own but the txt file is non existent in it's usual place. Does anyone have info on this as my research is inconclusive.
Any info is greatly appreciated. Not much of a version junkie so this is all new for me..

The Migrate Previous Version Settings functionality looks for preferences folders from previous versions of After Effects in your user account. You can see which folders are present by opening After Effects preferences folder; click on the Reveal Preferences In Explorer/Finder button at the bottom of the Preferences > General window.
If there are no folders here for your previous version (ex., a folder named 12.2), that is why After Effects CC 2014.2 (13.2) is reporting that it can not find preferences from a previous version. Are you using the same user account on this computer that you have used for After Effects CC (12.2)?
If such a folder does exist, please file a bug: http://adobe.com/go/wish
Regardless of the preferences migration functionality or what user account or computer generated the preferences, you can copy the Workspaces.xml file, ModifiedWorkspaces folder, and OriginalUserWorkspaces folder between the preferences folders for different versions.

If your GPU is not on the list of supported GPU's for CUDA acceleration of the ray-traceed 3D renderer, you can enable After Effects to try to use untested, unsupported GPU's. In Preferences > Previews, click on the GPU Information button, then turn on the Enable Untested, Unsupported GPU... option. (This option was added in After Effects CC (12.1). Please heed the warning dialog that appears when you enable this option.)

If a restore to factory settings did not resolve the issue, it's a likely indicator of a hardware fault, meaning you'll need to or want to set up an appointment at your local Apple Store/Genius Bar.

InDesign CC 2014 settings won't sync

I downloaded InDesign CC 2014 and was excited about the new sync settings feature that would allow all my InDesign CC settings to automatically move over to the new version. Unfortunately, I failed to first upload (sync) the settings from InDesign CC before launching InDesign CC 2014. As such, CC 2014 didn't detect any settings that needed to be synced during the initial launch. I've tried syncing the settings from my old InDesign CC app but InDesign CC 2014 refuses to sync. How can I force ID CC 2014 to sync? What are the steps?

Edit > Migrate previous version local settings.

User settings migrated from Office 2007 to 2013 using OCT

Does anyone know what user settings are retained after upgrading Office 2007 to 2013 using the OCT? I have set the checkbox to migrate user settings in the OCT but all of the user's pinned documents are not longer there after the upgrade. Is this normal?

Microsoft doesn't support migrating directly from SharePoint 2007 to SharePoint 2013, likely part of your decision to use a third party tool.
I'm not familiar with these error messages, I suspect they're from DocAve and not SharePoint.
My suggestion is to contact AvePoint support.

Migration cockpit : transport of settings (migration plan / package...)

We are running New Ledger migration with scenario 6 (to add doc. splitting functionality). We have created in the Dev System with transaction CNV_MBT_NGLM (Migration cockpit) following settings like the creation of a project, then assigned a package and later on the creation of a migration plan.
It looks like we have to recreate in Quality and Production the migration project and then the assignment of a package... and ONLY the migration plan can be transported ? (thanks to the activity called "Create Transport for Migration Plan Customizing" if the activity "Customizing of Package via Transport Request " has been done before ?
1. Could anyone please confirm this understanding ?
2. Furthermore, we'd like to test migration and document splitting validation in different clients in Dev and in Quality... should we recreate migration project and assignment of a package & migration in all the clients ?

This question is a slight variation to the question posed by Maninder.
Client plans on upgrading the BW instance to "NW04s/SEM 6.0" and also merge an old SEM instance (BW 3.1 SEM 3.5)to the upgraded BW instance. They plan on using the SEM 6.0 BPS instead of the new NW04s IP functionality.
The merging of instances requires migration of configuration / data.
What are the major cautions you advise?
Also, as requested by Maninder any SAP documents that shed light on issues that one needs to consider while migrating BPS data would be of great help!!

Cloud settings migration between accounts

Is it possible to migrate my Cloud settings from one Cloud account to another? Thanks for any help.

All is well with the system now.
The solution,
To move files from Account A to Account B, do the following:
1) Log in to Account A
2) Locate the files you want to move and move them to /Users/A/Public. Don't move any Apple created top-level default folders there, like Documents, Pictures, Movies, etc. Just move their contents.
3) Log in to Account B
4) Navigate with Finder to /Users/A/Public.
5) Drag the files to the Desktop. This will create new copies of them.
6) Put the files away in the appropriate places in B's home folder.
7) Log back in to Account A, and delete the files from /Users/A/Public.
This did not work for me but you should give it a try first.
For me, I had to move the data to an external drive. I then selected the drive in finder, entered command+i, in the resulting pop-up, I unlocked the lock at the bottom and checked the box to ignore ownership on this drive.
For my address book problem I used "appdelete" in user account A where address book was functioning. I had it collate all the files associated with it, copied those files. In user account B where address book would not function, I deleted address book(again using "appdelete") and then placed the copy that I made in that account and presto it worked.
Additional data I needed moved.
I tried the shared folder and the external drive and both methods required me to manually change the read write permissions on a folder by folder and sometimes file by file basis, tedious but it got the job done.

Sybase ASE 11.9 to SQL Server 2012/2014 Data Migration

I am given a task of migrating the Sybase ASE 11.9 server databases to SQL Server 2012/2014.
We have Sybase server installed on Windows server 2000.
We are going to setup a SQL Server 2012 on another server machine.
We are planning the migration using SSMA Version 6.0.
My questions are as below:
1. Do i need to install the SSMA Sybase Client tool on both the servers?
2. The database is quite huge, so they want us to perform the migration on a Copy of Sybase database. Is it possible?
Also please let me know what are the requirements for all this process so we can take care of it before doing actual migration.

Source).

Migration Assistant won't migrate User Account settings

I have Mac OS 10.7.5 running on the internal hard drive of my mid-2011 iMac. Because I'm having some issues with it that I suspect is due to old data/settings affecting 10.7.5, I wanted to see if installing Mac OS 10.8 might fix them. I installed 10.8 on an external FireWire drive but just did a clean install of the OS initially without migrating anything from the internal drive. My plan was to migrate things slowly rather than everything at once. Well I hit a snag at the outset when I tried to migrate my User settings; Migration Assistant says it can't do with out renaming my user account! The problem is that I don't know why this is happening AND I don't know if MA is talking about the user account in 10.8 or the one in 10.7.
Any idea as to what I can do? I was thinking of wiping the external drive and starting over but this time have the User account(s) migrated as part of the install; might this work?
BTW, when migrating AFTER a new OS install, is it better to have MA in the NEW OS pull the data from the old OS or have MA in the OLD OS push the data to the new OS (is it even possible to do this? I've always had the new MA pull the data from the old OS.)?

OK, yesterday I wiped the drive and started over. When I got to the Setup/Migration Assistant, I was given 4 options:
Users; Applications; Settings; Other files and documents... Under the Users option was a drop down where I could select which users to transfer; I selected mine and left the other ones (a "Test" account & an "Apple Service" account). Under the Settings option I could select "Computer" and/or "Network"; I selected both.The Applications & Other... options did not have ant drop down selections; I de-selected both.
After the installation was complete, I let the iMac run for several hours with no hint of the slow down that happens on the Mac OS 10.7.5 system. I then used the Assistant and had my applications copied over. Oh, I also created new "Test" and "Apple Service" user accounts.
OK, so what exactly is migrated via the "Other..." option?

Write Permission Error Save for Web Adobe CC 2014

Upon downloading and installing the recently released CC '14 apps, I've run into a problem with Photoshop CC 2014.
When I click "save for web" in the file menu, it returns an error message of "The operation could not be completed. A write permissions error has occurred."
It seems like a standard permissions error, so I repaired disk permissions, removed plists and prefs from user library, eventually I uninstalled photoshop and reinstalled it, restarted the computer, all with no progress.
I found another forum for CS5.5 that had a similar issue - with it's resolution being a permissions change on the preferences folder itself. For kicks, I tried this - again no progress.
I need to use the save for web feature. It is not usable on my end. Let's figure this out.

I had the same problem. And, I could not migrate settings. I found another thread about the same problem that suggested reset preferences on Photoshop launch, but that didn't work. the post also suggested to reset permissions for the library preference folder. Mine was fine.
But to fix it I had to go to the main library Preferences folder and reset permissions for the Photoshop CC 2014 Paths file and Photoshop CC 2014 Settings folder.
I am disappointed that Adobe shipped an upgrade with such a fundamental flaw. I feel I should say something disparaging and derogatory about Adobe quality control, about how as a loyal customer, using Photoshop since version 2.5 and a CC subscriber I expect better. But, I'll leave those remarks to others.

CC 2014 did not import all preset

I migrated several presets and everything worked sort off. Importing did not work completely. I have a lot of custom patterns, that where not migrated over. What can be done to correct this problem?

If you have saved pattern sets in *.pat files you can load these into Photoshop. If you the source files you can define the patterns again. If you still have Photoshop CC installed you can try copying your CC preferences patterns to your CC 2014 Preferences. On Windows 7 the file on cc is:
"C:\Users\UserID\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC\Adobe Photoshop CC Settings\Patterns.psp" you would copy that to:
"C:\Users\UserID\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2014\Adobe Photoshop CC 2014 Settings\Patterns.psp"

How do we transfer Audition effects presets from CC to 2014?!

Welcome to Day 3 of Adobe CF. Finally got Premiere issues smoothed out. Apparently today is Audition Headache Day.
Can anyone explain to the community how we can export the effects presets from Audition CC and import them for use inside Audition CC 2014?

For other PC users asking the same question, copy EffectPresets.xml from the 6.0 folder and place in the 7.0 folder according to the path below. Obviously Adobe couldn't be bothered to make sure these settings migrated and thereby forced you to go on this grand search for a solution instead of using their software to be productive and make media.

Photoshop CC 2014 - Liquify lags/stutters with pen

Since installing Photoshop CC Version 2014 yesterday the liquify tool is behaving strangely for me. Moving the Brush Cursor seems laggy/stuttering (hard to describe).. it works 'ok' with a mouse but once i started using the pen it's really laggy.
If you smudge in one direction the smudge appears with a short delay, after that - if you still pressing the pen down - it works fluently. But if i remove the pen and press it again on my tablet surce it lags again at first... So it's very hard to use it properly.
I Tried the 'old' photoshop CC and CS6 (both downloaded from Creative Cloud and still installed) and both still work fine and fluid.
I'm using Windows 8.1. 64-bit on a Core i7-3770k, 16GB Ram, Gainward Phantom GTX770 graphics card.
Is Anyone else having this problem? or does anyone knows what's causing this?
(if it's a graphic driver problem, why is it still working on photoshop cc, it seems the code for liquify has changed for version 2014).

I do not have Windows 8 but have seen the following about Windows 8 and Photoshop CC 2014 pen support in an other tread;
Photoshop CC 2014 changes stylus use to use Microsoft system API's, with these API's you need to have Windows Ink enabled. These API's give better stroke results and improve the out of the box experience for users using Windows tablet/convertible devices. If you want to go back to the old WinTab implementation of previous versions do the following:
Create a file that contains instructions to revert to the WinTab functionality.
Create a text file in a text editor such as Notepad.
Type in the following lines:
# Use WinTab
UseSystemStylus 0
Save the file as a plain text file named PSUserConfig.txt, and save the file into the Photoshop settings folder: C:\Users\[User Name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2014\Adobe Photoshop CC 2014 Settings\.
To turn off the gestalt's functionality, delete the PSUSerConfig.txt file. Or, move it to a different folder if it doesn't contain any other commands, or change the lines so they read:

Can't keep extension settings different in different profiles

I created a second profile called Shopping. I imported the extensions from my default profile into it. I wanted to run Shopping with a different set of enabled and disabled extensions from what I normally run on my Default profile. (On Shopping I enabled a number of shopping-related extensions I normally keep disabled on Default.) But I have found that I'm not able to separate the two profiles in this respect. When I brought up Default after using Shopping, the enabled/disabled configuration I had left Default with had been replaced with the enabled/disabled configuration of Shopping. This defeats my whole purpose in creating the Shopping profile. How can I keep the enabled/disabled extensions configurations of these two profiles separate?

Adds a widget displaying the open tab count (over all windows) to the add-on bar. Can be moved to the toolbar. Very bare-bones.
Created with addon builder (jetpack), so it should be future proof.

If you used Sync to do that "import", disable Sync for at least one of those Profiles.

Thank you for your suggestion. I have Sync enabled for all the profiles. To my surprise, however, Sync was of no use in getting Default's extension collection into Shopping. For that I had to resort to the article http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_data_to_a_new_profile_-_Firefox.
I will try disabling Sync on Shopping.

Transfer Photoshop Settings from one Adobe account to another

I was using the Test version of Photoshop CC 2014 with my adobe Cloud account and now I have purchased it with another email (I made a mistake). I would like to know if It's possible to transfer my Photoshop Settings (that I have already uploaded to the cloud) from the old account to the new one.

amzugasti , In this case I would suggest you to sign out from Creative Cloud App and sign in back with the email address which you used to place the order, it will active your Photoshop CC. You will not lose any previous Photoshop cc 2014 settings.
To sign out From Creative Cloud desktop, click gear icon on the top Right side and open Preferences.
Click on accounts and sign out.
