CC 2014 Failing On 2nd Machine

After seeing all the marketing messages I decided to do an update.  More or less worked on the primary machine but its a mess on my secondary.  I had to reboot to get CC to even show the updates.  Premiere Pro CC updated but CC 2014 fails--downloads 42% and then times out.  Photoshop is the opposite--CC 2014 updated but the CC update fails (immediately).  Media encoder fails at 42% which is probably related to the Premiere Pro install.
Anyway to get this cleared out/unstuck without spending hours on the phone?
What a mess.

Time Machine spends hours partially backing up and then fails with "Time Machine couldn't complete the backup due to a network problem."  I've tried various suggestions I've seen on the forum but nothing has worked.  TIme Machine worked fine for the last two years and just suddenly started having this problem every time.  The only thing that was a little different is that the computer was off for a week while on vacation and then I added a large amount (20 GB) of photos. Now the requested backup size is 82GB, which is large, and process proceeds very slowly for 2-3 hours before failing with the message mentioned.  I have more than enough available backup storage space for it.  Before failing, Time Machine has backed up no more than 12GB or so of the backup.  It fails during different files each time.
I've turned off the computer sleep feature, and I've checked that the NAS is set to never automatically power down. I normally backup over Wi-Fi, but I've also tried connecting to Ethernet and it still has the same problem.  It's odd because I also have a MacBook Pro that is still backing up fine to the same NAS using the MacBook's Time Machine.
I am using an iMac with OS X 10.6.8 and an Iomega StorCenter ix2-200 NAS.
I have system logs that I can share if helpful.  The logged messages vary a bit from run to run, but here are some messages that I've been seeing:
I always get this message near the beginning of the backup:
Event store UUIDs don't match for volume: Macintosh HD
I've gotten this messsage a number of times:
    Bulk setting Spotlight attributes failed.

That looks like a problem was found with the file system (data) on the TM disk.  I don't know the details, but OSX tried to recover it from the journal, and found extra data on the drive.    Likely a result of the incompatibility mentioned above.

Something caused a disconnect.  Can't tell from the log what it was.
I doubt it's a problem with something in OSX being damaged or corrupted, but reinstalling OSX isn't a major hassle, so might be worth a try.
To be incompatible with Snow Leopard, this NAS must be at least a couple of years old.  It may be beginning to fail.
Contact the maker.  See if there's an update to make it compatible with Snow Leopard.  If so, that might fix it.
If not, or if that doesn't fix it, see if they have any diagnostics that will shed any light.

    Hello Forum members,
does anyone have a solution? It seems to me, that there is a wrong entry in the registry of my Laptop. No one of the suggested Actions of Adobe was successfull. Ideas and Solutions would be very appreciated. Hermann

I recently installed Mavericks on this iMac and upgraded to Adobe Cloud 2014 now InDesign CC 2014 fails to launch and I get a crash report. Has this happened to anyone else?

It isn't happening to everyone else, but if there was a trend of it happening to a lot of people, that would probably show up in the official InDesign user forum. But there aren't a lot of crash reports there, so it isn't something that's happening to everyone. There are a couple, so you might look at those. But since there is not a huge wave of crash reports, the problem might be more related to a problem on the system rather than a problem with InDesign, like a corrupted font.
The best place to troubleshoot is probably over at the Adobe forum since the users there know InDesign very well.

  • Cannot Run CHM File on a 2nd machine

Windows Vista finally forced me to update an old hlp file to
chm format. Using Robohelp 5.0, I converted the hpj project to a
chm file. If I leave the file in place, all topics and pages
display fine. If I move the chm file to another machine, each topic
and page displays as "This program cannot display the webpage" (I
    have IE 7.0 loaded).
It looks like the pages are just links inthe HTM file and of
couse, the source is not on the second machine.
Is there a switch I am missing?
    Thanks

  • Problem installing CS6 D&W Premium onto 2nd machine (HELP!)

A while back, I purchased the CS6 Design and Web Premium package from Best Buy and installed it onto my Mac (via a physical disc).  I am under the impression that I should be able to install it onto a 2nd machine also, but my Surface Pro 2 (the machine of choice) has no CD drive, and the serial number I registered the first time around is being declined (after trying an internet download/installation).  What am I doing wrong?  Should I have received 2 serial numbers with the product?
    Thanks for helping!
    - M

    http://prodesigntools.com/how-to-buy-multiple-user-or-computer-licenses-adobe-cs5.html
"It’s called the Adobe Business Store (formerly known as the Volume Licensing Program) – but it’s not just for businesses, it’s for any person or enterprise that needs to run Adobe applications with multiple seats, and it has some pretty great advantages:
You can purchase however many licenses you need online with a credit card or PayPal, immediately without any paperwork or signature contracts to deal with.
You receive a single serial number for your entire group that you can freely switch between your computers, including between PC/Windows and Apple/Mac.
The actual software is completely the same as the standard versions, and you can add additional users at any time while keeping the same single serial key."
According to this source and some others, Creative Cloud was spawned out of this (it is referenced in the article).
But either way, it doesn't matter.  I'm not blaming Adobe or anyone else for this, but it's incredibly painful to have spent that much money on an anniversary present for my wife and I, as it has been our plan for a while now to learn this software together (The Continuing Education course where we live requires you to have the software/hardware before attending the course), only to realize down the road the person who sold me the software was misinformed about it being "multi-platform" and perfect for what I was looking for.
I'm not trying to swindle anyone or take anything out of turn.  I'm not trying to be a jerk, or an unruly customer.  I'm just at a huge loss and have no other route to take, other than to ask the staff of a big-company forum if they could help me fix this in any way at all...  :-/

  • Unable to syncronize from 2nd machine. Why?

I have attached my iPod to a 2nd machine. However, I am unable to copy new podcasts etc to the iPod. I usually sync with machine at home but now would like to purchase songs from iTunes and add them to iPod while at work. I have set the ipod such that I will manage music and videos manually. However, when I try to drag and drop stuff (such as podcast in this case) it does not work.
    Any ideas as to why?
Thanks and I look forward to your reply.

My apologies for the lack of info.
    Itunes 7.4.3.1
    iPod Touch 16GB 1.1.1
Now my computer at home is where I do most of the downloading from but wanted to try at work. I subscribed to a few podcasts for example. I have iTunes set to 'Manually manage music and videos' because this is the 2nd pc i have ipod plugged in to. so when I try to drag the podcasts to my ipod they do not seem to copy. This is my dilemma. Any ideas?

Thread <http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=7930301&#7930301> discussed a similar issue, but it was closed without an answer so I'm opening a new one.
After a power failure I ran Disk Utility to Repair Permissions on my boot disk and Verify Disk on another that I use to store media files; neither had significant problems. Then I ran Verify Disk (verify, not repair; and disk, not permissions) on my Time Machine backup disk. It started spitting out the errors shown below. The time remaining counted up to 16 minutes, but wasn't coming down very fast so I left it running overnight. My machine is set to not sleep or spin down the disks. The next evening it was down to 12 minutes left, and was still spitting out the same errors. The second evening it was done, having failed out as shown in this log file excerpt:

Any time Disk Utility says you need to repair a disk, you need to repair it. Period.
So run it. If it fails to repair everything, run it again (and again) until it either repairs everything or can't repair any more. If it can't repair it, post back and we'll discuss options.
There's no point in running +Verify Disk+ on an external drive; just run +Repair Disk.+ The only time +Verify Disk+ is needed is for your internal HD (because you can't repair the disk you're running from).
And you need to do that again because of the forced power-down. Any time there's an abnormal shutdown, it's possible the file system on your internal HD can be damaged. Usually it isn't, but it's possible. If that says you need to repair it, you'll have to boot from your Leopard Install disc and use it's copy of DU. Post back if you need to do this but don't know how.

  • Updates failing on local machines

I have a new WSUS server running on Windows Server 2012, lists as version 6.2.9200.16384.
The majority of clients list as 99% in the installed/not applicable percentage column, however I am getting reports from users that many updates are failing at the client side.  This is not then being reported by WSUS as updates with errors.  Looking
at the windowsupdate.log on the client machines I can see the line:
    2014-11-21    08:54:56:527  968   1040   Report WARNING: CSerializationHelper:: InitSerialize failed : 0x80070002
I am also seeing a lot of Installation Successful: Windows successfully installed the following update messages.
The main issues is that this causes the system to reboot several times as it rolls back failed updates, some users reporting that it has taken up to an hour before they can log into their machines.  I need to be able to see these failures in WSUS management
console, has any one seen this type of behaviour before?
    Drac

I am aware that, under normal circumstances,  failed updates will show as failed in the WSUS console.  However, in this instance WSUS does not show any failed updates for the systems in question.  The information from the users is based on
what Control Panel > Windows Updates > view update history is telling me.
You need to reconcile these allegedly failed updates against the state information reported in the console. Either these update are Installed, Not Applicable, or Needed. If the updates are still listed as Needed, then the Windows Update Agent is trying to
reinstall them at each installation event. Quite likely, the installer is returning a success code to the Windows Update Agent that says "Successful, but requires reboot", because the installation will not be completed until the restart.
Then, at the restart, the remainder of the installation fails somehow, and the work previously done is rolled back. The Windows Update Agent, however, knows nothing about this situation, so the update merely gets changed from Needed (Installed Pending Reboot)
to Needed (Not Installed) and the magic starts all over again.
There's still a missing piece here, because the only way an event can get logged in the Windows Update History is if the Windows Update Agent was involved in the process. If the WUA logged an installation failure, then it *should* report that to the WSUS
server. But there are a couple of cases in which it won't.
First, if the update installation came from somewhere other than the WSUS server; the EVENT associated with that installation will not be reported to the WSUS server. Only the STATE of the update itself: Installed, Not Installed, Not Applicable.
Second, if the failure actually predates the use of WSUS, and the users are simply misinterpreting the data. Failures are recorded permanently in the Windows Update History. Even if that very same update is subsequently installed successfully, the previous
failures will remain. This quite often misleads and confuses people reading the WUHistory.. which is why looking at the actual STATE as displayed in the console is quite often, more reliable, as it tells us what *IS* today, not what happened yesterday.
So, granted, in this unique circumstance the update is not explicitly flagged as failed. (This is an artifact of having redesigned the installation/updating methodology of the operating system, but failing to properly update the agent mechanism for Windows
Update. One of several things the WUAgent team has complicated over the past eight years).
HOWEVER.... you do still have actionable information in your console, which if you weren't ignoring in favor of "user reports", would have likely led to the same root cause.
Which *UPDATES* are listed in the console as Needed (Not Installed), and how long have they been available for installation? If the answer is more than a couple of days, then the console has told you all you need to know. Those update(s) are not being successfully
    installed.

  • MacBook Pro Retina (mid 2014) failing Memtest ?

    Hi !
I'm experiencing issues with my MB pro retina mid 2014 since I have it (1 month now) : kernel panic, reboots, freeze, and so on. As I have a little experience with computers, I thought it sound like a memory issue. So I ran memtest (from USB stick, and from the OS) after a complete reinstall (from the network).
Now, memtest from USB stick shows 10560 errors and freezes the computeur after 1h30. Memtest from the OS shows that :

*** Memory Test Failed *** Please check transcript for details.
    Execution time: 512 seconds.
I run the global Apple Hardware test that says there is probably an issue with a memory module.
Here's my trouble : I went to my nearest Apple Premium reseller, the tech guy says my Macbook has no issue, and is in perfect condition... he just made a test like in the terminal : yes something, to "stress" the memory. He says memtest isn't edited by Apple and its results are not relevant, and AHT is just a simple user diagnostic tool, but it's not relevant neither...
But I'm pretty sure AHT AND memtest can't be wrong ? What can I do ?

I have the same problem with MBP 15 retina 2013 late... I think something goes wrong.... ((((

  • Backup fail on Time Machine and My Passport for Mac on Yosemite

Cannot seem to get Time Machine to do a full backup of my NEW My Passport for Mac.
    I've:
    - Updated firmware on WD external drive (and formatted correctly for Apple)
    - Updated to latest IOS 10.10.3 (Yosemite)
    - Verified and repaired Mac HD via iOS Disk Utility and the WD Drive Utility (no issues found on either)
Error message continues to be "Time Machine couldn't complete the backup to My Passport for Mac. An error occurred while copying files. The problem may be temporary. If the problem persists, use Disk Utility to repair your backup disk."
I'm backing up about 250 GB and have done this numerous times on my Passport for Mac. Everything SEEMS to be fine during backup, until after about 2-3 hours, into a 4-hour backup, the error message appears without any error codes.
Does anyone have any input?  I don't think it is on the WD side.  Anyone know if there an issue with Time Machine and this external drive?  Help!
    Thanks,
    Dave

    Hi Linc,

  • Error "The Connection Failed" in Time Machine, Migration Assistant and Restore From DVD

I am receiving this error when trying to connect to my Time Machine Backup in my Time capsule. I input the proper password to access my Time Capsule and It returns me to the screen with the caption "The connection failed" under the Time Capsule name in the "Select your Disk" screen. What would cause this error. I am connecting via WIFI (AirPort) and have full signal. I am using Mac OSX 10.6.8
I recently had my 1TB hard drive replaced and I am attempting to restore using Time Machine, migration assistant or from the startup dvd (tried multiple ways, no success). The initial setup of mac OSX 10.6 would not let me connect or other attempts after erasing hard drive and reinstalling OSX from disk.
Worked on it all weekend and don't have enough beer to drown the frustration, any help is appreciated.

You are correct TM is not at all easy to do a full restore.
To answer your question: Yes TM disk does show up in finder.
After my initial startup setup I was able to start TM and access all my previous backups. I migrated some files and was able grab the data from finder. Not satisfied with that I tried to do a restore to that previous date, to no success. I then erased the HD and reinstalled OSx and tried again from the setup screen. That didn't work, sulked over some beers. I then tired with Migration assistant...same result (more beer).
In starting TM after trying MA, only one backup was showing in the Star screen (today). None of my previous backups were showing. Since exiting TM it has been "Making Backup Disk Available" ( xGB of 6.29GB). Considering the size, I can only assume that these are my previous backups.
I have reviewed Pondini's posts, FAQs, and tutorials. I am a little scared to try and locate the drives through Terminal as in Pondini's TS #6 guide. If I can get my previous backups to show up, I will be happy with dragging files from Finder to restore my data and slowly work at restoring my settings/applications.
