CC 2014.  Now AVCHD files have no audio.

I'm running a mac and i've recently updated to Premier Pro CC2014.  My AVCHD files that worked before the update do not have audio anymore.
I opened a previous project that used the same files and it works fine.  However, when I load the same AVCHD files into a new project, I've got no audio.
Any ideas?

I went back and fully removed the old cc version.  now 2014 is the only version installed.  Still no audio.
I cleared the cache and cleared the bin with the media files.  then re-imported them into PP.
I noticed a yellow caution symbol in the lower right corner of the screen.  When you click on it, this is what you get.

I am using a cheap RCA Small wonder in PRE Elements 9. It shoots AVI files. Im sure there is some codec issue but, these files have no audio in Premiere Elements only. Everywhere else they are fine. Windows 7. Please help!

No Deal.... I did all of those things and RCA DID install a codec. So I thought I was good to go... This what I see..... still no audio.

  • C100 files have no audio

    Hi,
I have shot some long interviews recently with the c100. I'm struggling with the AVCHD clips. When using mavericks I click on the private folder and then on the avchd file. Preview shows me the clips as I would expect them to be, single clips with audio.
I then copy the entire file structure, intact, onto the computers hard drive, so far so good.
Opening premiere pro cc I navigate to the file copied onto the hard drive using the media browser. If I import the folder called private, I get a report saying some files are not recognised, the private folder appears in the bin and inside it are MTS clips, but on the long span recorded clips, Im getting three or four identical clips with different clip numbers but same timecode and picture.
These clips have no audio both sound wise and waveform wise.
If I navigate into the private folder using the media browser I can see the separate movie files as brown icons with movie and sound icon. Clicking on these and importing them, solves the replication issue but still no sound, showing or playing back.
    What am I doing wrong?
If I quit premier, save and re-open then some clips slowly regain there waveforms but have no sound, or conversely have sound but no waveforms. this sound then disappears again, when I scrub through.
I hope Im doing something wrong, because to be honest this is a total mess and defeats the purpose of the c100, clip spanning and premiers supposedly native support.
hopefully someone can help me out.
    Many thanks Paul

  • Can't Stop Capturing and Files Have no Audio

Once a tape has finished capturing, the only way I can close OL is through the task manager or by starting a new tape.  I have captured every tape the exact same way, and out of 5 tapes, 3 have video only, 1 is a corrupted file, and 1 captured correctly.  I can only import the clip that has working audio and video into Premiere or SoundBooth—none of the others work; they just sit and (don't) import for hours.  All the files have sizes that suggest the audio is taking up space, but it will not play or import into a timeline.
VLC will only play one of the files.  It has a thumbnail but no audio.
I tested each tape to see if it would capture correctly, so I recorded 15 seconds and clicked stop (because it will allow me to stop if the tape is not over yet), and then I played the captured file, and they always had audio.  When I do the entire tape, however, only rarely does the audio stay intact.
    What do I DO?

Wow. I just started using CS5OL and immediately ran into the same problem you described.  Sorry you had to wait for almost a year for a reply.
I have a SONY D8 tape player/recorder and a SONY HDV tape player connected to W7 PC via DV link (firewire).  OL crashes if you try to STOP recording when being feed "bad" video ... ie area on tape passed recorded video.
Since this appears to be an OL "bug" I can only offer you the work around that works for me.  Your mileage may vary.
When OL is in record mode and the video on the tape "runs out" (tape runs passed end of recorded material)... if I click STOP in OL, it freezes and then quits.
When I try to reload OL, it (warning ... assumptions ahead) "tries" to go straight to the previously opened project (even if you have prompt to ask at start up) and then freezes.  Apparently, OL "thinks" the start up prompt is displayed and waits for you to do something.  Only problem is, the prompt is not displayed and OL just boinks at you.  A visit to the Task Manager is the only way to kill OL.
The weird thing is, if you rename the project file or folder that you had open when the crash occured ... the restart of OL does show the start up prompt as normal.  The other weird thing is that the clip that was being recorded during the crash apparently gets left "open" and is not properly closed.
If you revisit the video clip file, only the video is there ... no audio.  Weird!
The work around.  While recording and the tape player video runs passed the end of recorded video ... I simply press the review (rewind while playing) button on the player to rewind the tape back to "good" video.  Once the player starts playing the "good" video again ... then click STOP in OL and it should close the clip properly.
In a nut shell, you can only STOP recording when OL is being feed "good" video.  It will crash 100% of the time (my un-success rate) if you hit STOP or RECORD if being feed "bad" video.
In summary, when your tape plays passed the end of recorded material .... DON'T TOUCH OL!!!   Simply rewind the tape back to "good" video and allow to play.  Then press STOP.   Your clip may have a big clunky section at the end but that's why they invented video editors ... isn't it.
    I hope this helps.  Dave

  • After relinking MTS/AVCHD Clips have no audio

    Hi,
I have a problem with avcdh-clips. They had been imported porperly, so that I allready have worked with them.
Today I opended the project, and all the MTS-Files were offline. I tried to relink them - and was warned, that they´ll come with no audio. Which they actually don´t have anymore. I tried to relink the same clips from the backup-disk. Same result. I tested the avchd-clips with prelude and QT-Player - they do have audio.
Also if I import them fresh in PrP, they are just fine with audio.
But with the relinking it just doesn´t work.
    Who can help?
PS: I trashed the plist as suggested by adobe support. Changed nothing.

I have the same issue but slightly different. Using Premiere CC. I Imported .mts removed the audio and linked .wav files to the video from an interview. I did this cause I mic'd the audio with a seperate computer as my video camera mic isn't so hot. It's worked fine over and over again. Once the files were edited and placed into the sequence all should be good after all they are just audio files.... WRONG!
I opened my file up after a 3 day break only to find that all of the linked audio from the interview was gone from my sequence. Now that wouldn't be that bad of a thing except the fact that it was like 8 hours worth of work... I checked the file browser and everything was still there. BUt on my main sequence all of the interview materal was simply gone as if it had been deleted off the timeline.... there were even two empty audio tracks left with nothing on them???
I'm sorry but I just have to say after the "premiere can't recognize a filter bug in CS6" and now this bug it makes me want to just switch to Final CUt... how many times am I going to have to start over because of a bug in premiere... I mean 3 months from now is adobe going to release another version of premiere that doesn't glitch and you have to pay per month again to use like CC... Sorry I can't have 8 hour bugs every other month on my video editing software..

  • Updated to 2014-now preview files won't load

I render all my files, close Ppro and when I re-open the project, I get the red bars and have to re-render everything. Clearly I can't continue on this way and my research on this forum hasn't turned up an answer although I see that others have had the same problem. Ppro has been very stable for me on my Win 7 system up until this 2014.2 update.
This is a real show stopper for me. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Thanks.

I found the file and deleted it. I now get a cache directory choice window but the program still hangs on the intro screen. So, still no run.
    Thanks.

  • Sync error "erased" songs, now ghost files have me over capacity

Last night when I tried to a routine sync to iTunes using my iPhone (4S), I got the dreaded neverending "Applying changes" error during the sync. This happened a few times in a row. Some help forum advice suggested unchecking the "Sync Songs" box to fix the problem, and that did work, but now there is no music showing as available on my phone (ie, the phone doesn't seem to "see" any music files). iTunes still "thinks" they are there, though, because now when I try to resync including the music it tells me the memory is over capacity, even though my iPhone is functionally empty of music. It seems it didn't recalculate the available disc space after the sync errors.
SO, how do I either delete what may be "ghost" music files on my iPhone, or alternatively how do I make iTunes recognize that there is more space on the device than it is currently "seeing"?

    Hello aubiefan12
If turning off Sync Music and syncing did not remove the files as well as restoring from a back up. Then the only other option is to restore your iPhone and set it up as new and not rely on your back up as it may be corrupted and causing the issue. Alternatively you can back up using iCloud and use that back up to put back on after you have restored. Restoring from an iCloud back up does differ from an iTunes back up and may not bring back any ghost files.

  • Exported quicktime files have video & audio out of sync

I am using FCP with a Sony HVR-Z1E. All seems ok in my edit etc but if I try to export my edit to a quicktime file using the quicktime conversion option the audio and video are out of sync on quicktime. If I export using quick time movie option, all is fine as this file is played back by FCP. I have tried different settings but I cant get the audio to be in sync with the video. My settings are HDV 1080i50 on my 15" Macbook Pro
    Thanks for any help
    Regards Alf

You can open your "quicktime movie" (not qt conversion) in quicktime player. Simply control click on the file in the finder and choose open with... Try that and let us know if the file is in synch.

  • Canon MTS file has no audio in Premiere

I have a Canon VIXIA HF G30 camcorder which I shot video on yesterday.  I just downloaded it from the camera using Canon's Data Import Utility software.  I then go to Premiere Pro CC 2014 and import the clip.  There is no audio if I play from the source window or if I add to timeline and try playing from the sequence.  If I play the file using the default video player in windows, which is Cyberlink PowerDVD, there isn't audio either.  However Windows Media Player plays the video with audio just fine.
How do I fix this.  I hope people aren't going to tell me I need to buy some kind of conversion software.  I ran updates, so I don't know what else to do.
Please help!  I need this video ASAP.

FYI, if anyone else has this issue... while I had Adobe Enterprise tech connected to my computer trying various things I continued my research and found this thread.  CC 2014.  Now AVCHD files have no audio.
I suggested that he try it, and although he signed out and deactivated using a different method (I wanted to steal the mouse control back and just try the easy way, but whatever...) it worked!  I hope every Adobe tech updates their notes for this issue.  If I didn't find this thread, I'm sure he would have given up or had me on a week long hold while they figure it out, or I'd have smashed my laptop by now.
    Hi UCAgrad,
    Some things to try:
Choose Help > Sign Out, restart Premiere Pro, choose Help > Sign In. This activates the application.
Some users have also had success by using Adobe Cleaner and then reinstalling Premiere Pro (on Mac).
Another user (on Windows) had success by reinstalling the OS, then Premiere Pro.
    Thanks,

  • HT5409 Avchd files *.MTS are not recognized by QuickTime Player in OS X 10.8.3

I have some acvhd files named as 00036.MTS and they play pretty good with VLC. I got all excited when I read that in OS X 10.8.3 that the QuickTime Player will have support for avchd files. I just upgraded three machines to OS X10.8.3 a Macbook Air, Mac Mini and an iMac, when I click on an a 00036.MTS file it defaults to VLC and if I right click and select to use an application to use QuickTime does not display. If I select all applictaions then select QuickTime, I am told QuickTime may not recognize this format. I click ok and get, "The document "00036.MTS" could not be opened, QuickTime Player cannot open files of this type. The avchd files have been created with a Sony camera.
What do I need to do to get this to work?
    Walter

It looks like you need to keep them packaged in their file hierarchy, not open the .mts files directly. See here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5409

Updated to Adobe Muse 2014 this morning and have worked in it for the last 8 hours. Now when I try to publish the updated site to Business Catalyst for my client to preview it crashes everytime. I have tried just publishing altered files only, then tried the whole site again, and then tried publishing as a new site altogether. Thought I would then try to export as HTML in the hope of uploading the files via an FTP client and Muse crashes and locks up again. I am extremely stressed about this as I am in the last few days of of website I have been working on now with no issues since December. We are due to go live and my client needs to see it. I am desperate for an answer. It is not looking good. I am on an Apple Mac and have not had any isses publishing it for the last 6 months. Not very happy to say the least. Need desperate help.

Hi Zak, I got onto Adobe Customer Care Live Chat this morning and gave them the error message. After some trouble shooting with them it appears the older archived file of the site still publishes. I have now reverted back to the old file and copied and pasted out of the new file and from some ideas given to me by support I am now able to publish to Business Catalyst. It seems there was something corrupt within the new pages added yesterday. I have no idea if this would have still happened if I hadn't updated but I am glad it wasn't a Muse specific problem. I am loving using Muse and the support from Adobe has been excellent. Thanks everyone. By the way I do love the new version and apart from this hick up that lost me a few hours, aged me some more and gave me grey hair I really love Muse. Thanks again.

Help!! working on a movie on Imovie. I had to delete a music file from a clip section and now there are some clips that have no audio!!! don't know how to get the audio back to my clips!!!! Help!!!

You can use some third party software to copy the music from your old iPod back to computer first, and then import the music into iTunes and re-sync them to yournew iPod. Here is a guide about how to transfer iPod music to computer. Hope it helps. Feel free to email me if you need further help.

  • Elements Organizer 10 - no audio AND no thumbnails on AVCHD files

    Hi All,
I'm running Elements Organizer 10, and am seeing some strange behavior in that, since upgrading to 10 (from 9)
    - none of my .mts files will play any sound in the Media Browser viewer and
    - new .mts files that I import into the catalog have no thumbnails
The files do have thumbnails in Windows Explorer.
I can play the files, with sound, using both VLC and Windows Media Player.
Importing the files in Organizer 9 did generate thumbnails and playback with audio.
Premiere Elements 10 does generate clip thumbnails and successfully plays audio, too.
So - it seems to be somthing very specific to version 10 and the Organizer - not machine-wide.
I noticed that playback in the Media Browser viewer invoked the Haali Media Splitter I have installed on my machine.  Thinking that might be the wrong codec, I uninstalled it.
I could still play in VLC and WMP, but double-clicking in Organizer gave an error message that no appropriate codec was installed.
So, I installed ffdshow to see if that avc codec could be used, still no luck.
Reinstalled latest version of Haali, back to same behavior (no audio, no thumbnails) in Organizer - everything else working.
So, I can work by dragging the clips from Organizer onto VLC so I can play the video with sound while tagging, but I'm concerned that it's not working and that whatever the base problem will manifest itself more seriously later.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance!!

    Hi Steve,
    Thanks for the input...
I did go back and confirm that I'm running the latest QT for my machine 7.7 (1680.34) according to the QT Player.
Just in case, I re-downloaded the QT Installer and Repaired the installation. No change in behavior in Organizer.
I don't think it's QT that is used for AVCHD files, tho, is it? I tried to play my video in the QT player, and it won't play .mts...
Also, as others suggested, I did attempt to 'activate' the AVCHD plugin - but, didn't get any new popups or dialogs (it might have happened when I originally installed and I didn't pay attention to it)...
I had previously right-clicked on a clip in organizer and selected "Edit in Premiere Elements...", put the clip on the timeline, played and scanned thru the clip, saved the Project.  But, based on yours and the other suggestions, (I did this a few times with different clips) I created a new project, Get Media from Files and Folders, loaded a clip, dragged to timeline, played/scanned, double-clicked to bring up the previewer in Element - everything works as expected.
Back to Organizer - same behavior as before.
Uninstalled Haali again, and tried all of the 'plugin activation' steps again.  No change except Organizer still complains of not having the required codec.
So - for some reason, the organizer thinks it should use the Haali Media splitter as the codec for avchd - everything else on my machine seems to be able to find a more suitable codec - vlc, wmp, pre all work fine.
Did some more surfing on the forums, and found some references to Premiere Pro using the Haali media splitter (?).
So, one other piece of info - Prior to Elements 9, I did have Premiere Pro installed on this machine.  Very nice, but overkill for what I want to do.  So, I uninstalled it prior to installing Premiere Elements 9.  Everything worked fine w/ 9, but not with 10.
So - is there some way to determine which codec Organizer is using and/or force it to use a specific one?
Is it possible (seems likely with the symptoms) that there was some configuration file or registry entry left over from Pr that is now directing Organizer to use the same codec that it previously used (instead of the default)?
Thanks all!!  Normally I'd be able to figure this out, but am pretty new to 'the inner workings' of Pre.
    Thanks,
          Scott

  • Why won't premiere CS6 play audio for imported AVCHD files on my window 7 laptop?

After I've imported the AVCHD file the video plays just fine, but the audio isn't there at all. I still have the original video files on my SD card, I've tried Wondershare to convert the file, but the video became corrupted. Any tips?

Not necessarily, go to Help > Updates. We're on Premiere Pro CS6 (6.0.3) in Windows now.

Uninstall Spotify and see if that helps. I've heard about some crazy things related to that app. Better to run all these apps on a cheap secondary computer or iPad.

  • AVCHD files - can't hear audio

    Hey guys,
I'm shooting a conference with a friend's Panasonic HMC150 camera.  Although I've shot with the camera before, I've never really taken a deeper look at the file structure...as compared to Panasonic's P2 system.  I'm not editing the footage for this project, I just have to turn it over to the client.
But I was curious how I could work with the AVCHD format in Premiere CS5.  I'm currently a CS3 user and I'm running a trial of CS5 on my Windows 7 machine.  I can't seem to access the audio from my clips.  When I import the MTS files, the audio isn't imported.  The video files show up as video only files in Premiere.
I've tried looking at the files in the Media Manager.  This is all new to me because I never played around with CS4.  When I look at the files in the Media Manager, they show up as AVCHD files and I see the filmstrip icon with the speaker, indicating that there is audio.  But when I double click on a clip, it goes into the souce monitor as just video.  If I import the same clip, it goes into the project and I only see the film strip icon.
I've done a lot of work with HVX200 footage in CS3.  As long as I had all the files within the "Contents" folder on my drive, then I only had to import the video clips and the audio would stay along with the clips.  This newer file structure doesn't make sense to me.  What am I doing wrong?  I know there is audio on my clips because I can play them back in the camera.  I can also play the files in Windows Media Player and hear the audio just fine.  .
FYI, I shot in 1080p/24p and the project/timeline I created in CS5 was DVCPRO1080p/24p.  But I've also tried not making a timeline and I get the same results when I try to import the footage.
Thanks in advance for any help.
    - Jordan

I'm running a trial of CS5 on my Windows 7 machine.  I can't seem to access the audio from my clips.  When I import the MTS files, the audio isn't imported.
This is likely because it's the trial version. I can confirm that the audio imports just fine with the HMC150; audio and video are together in the MTS file, and Premiere correctly recognizes the audio (AC3) when you import by whatever means in the retail version.
