CC and Extension builder

What is the upgrade path to cs extension built with extension builder 2.0 on CC versions?
Do we have to wait for the next version of Extension Builder ?
Does an extension built for version 6.0 (InDesign) will be OK for Indesign CC if we do not put a maximum version in manifest?
Does anybody have ever tried?
many thanks
jrlemay

Same usage for InDesign CC 64bits.
The only bogger is that its seems we cannot debug or run as from Flash Builder 4.6.
Am I right on this?
Looks we have to keep CS6 active for debugging or run as.
Re-installing the extension with Extension Manager CC for each new build is not a viable option.
I have heard about an update (2.10) of extension builder. Does anybody knows something about it? Does this update will address compatibility with CC?

Mac and PC both using Adobe Photoshop CC . Both installed from same .ZXP file using Adobe Extension Manager CC.
    Any ideas?

No I used relative path - the path is  images/image name
    example images/cRight.png
tried downloading Extension Builder 2.1 and compiling on Mac but still have same results - images show up fine in design window , but not when running panel in Photoshop
    Created a new project: testImage
added an image component to form
answered yes to add asset to project
    ran project
image did not show up in Photoshop
    went back to project
checked item Embed under Common image properties
ran project and image shows up
Looks like it works if I add @Embed("assets/image name") on Mac to display images
    tried in my real project:
Looks like it works if I add @Embed("images/image name") on Mac to display images
When I change this on PC to @Embed("images/image name") images do not show Up
Don't know if I need to create two versions one for Mac one for PC
Don't know how this would affect product on Adobe Exchange

  • Questions about migrating Configurator 4 PS panel to Extension Builder 3.

    Hello,
I am in the process of creating a set of Photoshop tools that I'm hoping to release on Adobe Exchange in the very near future. The tools are a set of javascript files that are executed through a simple panel interface consisting of 4 buttons. There is also a logo at the top of the panel that links to a tutorial section on my website (kind of like the Adobe Paper Texture Pro panel if you're familiar with it).
I initially created the panel using Configurator 4 (RIP). Unfortunately, I only recently found out about Adobe's plans to remove Flash based Extension Panel functionality. I've switched over to Extension Builder 3, so I can submit my Extension to Adobe for approval as soon as possible. The main issue is that I am not a programmer. I'm learning, and I'm actually quite pleased with the results so far, but there have been plenty of headaches along the way. As for the migration to Extension Builder 3, I've been able to work around or find solutions to most of the issues, but there are still a few that I'm hoping someone can shed some light on:
How do you create a 'fly-out' menu for a panel? I wasn't sure how to do this in Configurator 4 either, but at least they provided an 'About' menu option above the standard 'Close' and 'Close Tab' menu options.
This is minor, but when dragging the panel around, I noticed that the contents of the panel disappear and you only see the gray background color. The panel from Configurator didn't do this (you could see the contents at all time). Is there a way around this?
As mentioned above, I have a logo that used to link to the tutorial for the tool on my website. I searched around, and it seems like something that is simply not possible to do anymore. This is unfortunate, because I wanted to provide users with easy access to the tutorial page. Is it possible to open a new panel from another panel? That way, I could at least have the tutorial open as a new panel within Photoshop. (I just noticed a potential answer to this in another thread - though it may be slightly over my head)
I took a look at the HTML5, ADOBE authored Adobe Layer Renamer, but that just makes me more nervous because it has the dragging problem AND no additional fly-out menus. Ideally, I'd prefer it if users didn't have to open Adobe Exchange just to see instructions or information about my Extension.
Sorry for the lengthy post, but I appreciate any assistance with these issues!
    Lee

    Hello Lee,
My name is Jeff.   I am similar to your situation where I am not really much of a programmer, but using scripts exported to .jsx files from actions in PS, and I was using Configurator to build a really massive (hundreds of buttons/scripts accordians etc) panel in 3.0,  released it publicly, but retracted because of certain issues and then finally realizing I need to migrate it all over to HTML5 and Extension Builder 3.
I am also at about the same point as you... although I've been trying out the jquery frameworks to build my tabs and other GUI elements... figured out last week how to use custom images for the buttons etc.
I don't know if I am going to need a panel-flyout menu option but I am trying to figure out how to put in regular text-box or pull-down menus... in configurator I found a neat trick to drag and drop accordian-containers into each other... then it acts like a pull-down menu when you have buttons in there.     The problem is html5 and extensionbuilder 3 do not work like this... I can't figure out how to make nested tabs yet or have a GUI pull-down or text-box actually send information to my .jsx files and change them.
Let's keep this forum active and help each other, we all have great ideas to contribute to the extensability of these long-cherished tools and it should not be hard... or else we're all just going to go back to using actions, lol.      For now, I have avoided some issues in configurator, still exporting my panels but with the upcoming release of non-flash-support in PS then people won't be able to use them unless they had the previous PS installed already.      However, you can create your own installers to place the extensions into the right folders, you don't need the .ZXP or exchange to publish or sell your extensions, it's only for a pathway that helps us all to legitamize our projects and become producers through the exchange portal or add-ons or whatever it ends up being.   But personally I am using a freeware program that makes simple installers and having it place the folders into the extension panels folders... then when PS opens there is the extension -- that is all that Extension manager is doing... taking your ZIP (ZXP) and unzipping it to the right folders.
What upsets me is how easy they made it with configurator for me to make a very advanced panel... then pulled the rug out and now it is going to take a lot of work and learning for me to understand how to build the same GUI panels you see attached but in HTML 5....  I will try to share and help out especially with people like us where we have built something in configurator and now we need to port/migrate it to html5/extension builder 3.     Easier said than done. :/

  • Licensing Extension Builder 2.1

I have subscription license for Extension Builder 2.0, now I have build a new system with Windows 8 ( for CC) and installed Flash Builder 4.6 and Extension Builder 2.1.
When extending the max version to Creative cloud for my extensions I'm prompted to update libraries but then I'm requested to purchase Extension Builder.
Please, may I know where I have to input my license details ?
    Thanks

I downloaded it from the trial link at the Adobe Store, as far as I remember I did the same with 2.0.
Now, I have activated the trial period to be able to work but need to know if extensiones released in trial mode will run fine after the trial. Otherwise I would need to activate the license asap.
    Thanks so much,

  • Re-installing Extension Builder 2.1

Hello, I was experiencing Workspace errors and decided to re-install Flash Builder 4.6 and Extension Builder 2.1.
    EB2.1 includes Flash Builder 4.6.
    I uninstalled everything.
When I reinstall it and try to import the project I was working on I find that I no longer have CS SDK 3.4 or 4.5 (only 3.6 and 4.6).
Also, the references to ${CSLIBS} and ${CSAR} are gone.
    Is this being installed correctly?
Do I have to add all these manually? How do I do so?
Thank you for your help in advance.
    Dmtiriy

    Hi mityaf:
I could not regenerate your issue locally. Did you run into any errors during the installation?
My guess is that when you uninstall the application, some garbage left there and caused your problem. I suggest you do this:
    1. Uninstall the application, DELETE THE FOLDER "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Flash Builder 4.6" if it's still there.
    2. Clean the registry. Do a search in regedit and search for Extension Builder, delete all the keys and values related.
    3. Install it again.
If you want to work around the issue manually, try below steps:
    1. If you want to use FlexSDK 3.4 and 4.5, you should be able to find them at "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Flash Builder 4.6\eb21\plugins\com.adobe.cside.flexsdk_2.1.0.20130425\flexsdk". You can add them to "Installed Flex SDKs" in Windows->Flash Builder.
    2. In project properties dialog, choose using a specific SDK in the "Flex Compiler" page.
    3. In Resource->Linked Resources page, make sure there are following Path Variables:
         CSAR: C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Flash Builder 4.6\eb21\plugins\com.adobe.cside.libsinstaller_2.1.0.20130425\archive\csar-1.0
         CSLIBS: C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Flash Builder 4.6\eb21\plugins\com.adobe.cside.libsinstaller_2.1.0.20130425\archive\cslibs

  • How do I install and build and extension with extension builder 2.1?

Honestly, I am beyond frustrated right now.
    1. Extension Builder 3 - This will only install and run with Eclipse. JRE 1.7.
This only allows me to use Extendscript to write scripts with. Extendscript is so frustrating to use. It seems like there are a lot of missing properties for working with color models in illustrator. The documentation is also terrible for Extendscript. Something that seems like it would be simple to do like export an RGB JPEG is impossible to spec out in the EXPORT JPEG settings. Its also impossible to set the color space of a NEW AI document unless you use the add(); instead of addDocument(); There are conflicting incomplete properties of both methods. If you use one, one set of settings is missing if you use the other another set is missing... WHAT IS SOMEONE SUPPOSED TO DO???
    2. Flash Builder 4.7 will not run Extension Builder 3.
    3. I bought Extension Builder 2.1 which is supposed to install Flash Builder 4.6, but the installation keeps failing right at the end. This apparently also requires that you use JRE 1.6 which is not compatible with Mavericks.
This all seems impossible... how in the heck are people learning how to do build extensions, its a surprise that any exist at all. If they do They are likely not building them with the Adobe tools. I know enough about code to be dangerous but don't have a doctorate in troubleshooting all of these compatibility, and documentation issues.
All I want to do is write an extension, or a script that allows me to
    1. copy the art from two layers.
    2. color the background of the AI document to the background color of the original document
    3. resize art from both layers to fit on a 216 x 216 pixel square.
    4. Save the document as a: JPEG - ANTI-ALIAS SUPER SAMPLED - 150 DPI - RGB - MEDIUM QUALITY - CLIP TO ARTBOARD - WITH THE SAME NAME AS THE ORIGINAL FILE
I AM AT MY WITS END WITH THIS WHOLE PROCESS. I AM ABOUT TO GIVE UP UNLESS SOMEONE CAN HELP GIVE ME A LITTLE INSIGHT.

    Hi,
First of all, remember that Extension Builder 2.1 only supports building Flash based extensions which have been phased out. If you are building extensions for Creative Cloud and beyond, you should use HTML5. See more info here: Introducing HTML5 extensions | Adobe Developer Connection
The installation is probably failing because you have some leftovers from a previous installation. The installer will detect if you have Flash Builder 4.5 or Flash Builder 4.6 installed (NOT Flash Builder 4.7). If it finds that you have Flash Builder 4.5/4.6 installed, it will attempt to install the plugin on top of it. If it does not detect Flash Builder 4.5/4.6, it will install Flash Builder 4.6 Premium.
I highly recommend you look into the new HTML5 extensibility. Here you can find tons of resources: Adobe CEP Resources by Adobe-CEP

  • Flash Builder 4.6 and CS Extension Builder 1.5

I have downloaded Flash Builder 4.6 and CS Extension Builder 1.5 and we have one big problem related to design mode.
Actually when we switch to design the visual editor is completely black!
    Thanks.
    Diego

It's not going to be fixed.
The only version of FB where design mode really works is 4.0. Even in 4.5, it's very fragile for Flex 3. (Flex 4 should work fine.)
Yes. I use EB 1.5 all the time. The lack of a working Design Mode is annoying and makes devlopment somewhat less efficient, but it's not a show-stopper...

  • Extension Builder and Photoshop CC

May I get some info about how to handle the new Photoshop CC version ?
I need to know if it is compatible with Extension Builder, and if it's possible to get a beta to test my extensions. It should be out in June and have no other info than a press release.
I believe that building extensions for a product like Photoshop is a way to enhance this application and Adobe should appreciate it, but it's very difficult for me to get the right info and tools to continue enhancing this product.
Any help will be sincerely appreciated, thanks.

You should find your test extensions in the following directory:
    Mac: /Users/<UserName>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CEP/extensions
    Win: C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CEP\extensions

  • Extension Builder 2.1 and CC 2014

    Hello,
we've trying to make our 2.1 extensions available to CC 2014, following the tutorial available at Adobe Extension Builder and Creative Cloud 2014. The problem is that after having installed Premiere Pro CC 2014, we don't have any CEP folder (Win32) C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\CEP or (Win64) C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\CEP. How to get it installed on our machines?
    Even if we've updated the extension manifest.xml with <Host Name=”PPRO” Version=”[8.0,8.9]” /> and <RequiredRuntime Name=”CSXS” Version=”5.0″ />, Premiere CC 2014 doesn't load our extensions.
    Any help on that?
    Thank you.

  • CS Extension Builder 1.5 and CS SDK 1.5 are available

    Hi all,
I am pleased to announce that the latest versions (1.5) of Creative Suite Extension Builder and the Creative Suite SDK are now available through the downloads section on the CS Extension Builder website.
The team has applied significant effort to deliver a release only 12 months after the 1.0 release and we believe that it will be as successful as the first one.
Some of the highlights of the 1.5 release are:
improved support for hybrid extensions (more)
ability to develop for multiple versions of the Creative Suite (more)
advanced tools for developing with XMP metadata (more)
support for Content Management Systems that support the CMIS (Content Management Interoperability Services) specification
    extension profiling
To find out more about the 1.5 release, take a look our CS Extension Builder page on Adobe Developer Connection. Over the next  few weeks we will be pushing more content (tutorials, articles, videos) to this page and we intend to make it the main resource center for Creative Suite developers. You can also check the our channel on youtube.
As always your feedback is important.
We hope you enjoy the new release!

    @gtavridis

    Thanks for the feedback Harbs,
Yeah I couldnt agree with you more on the open source aspect. Maybe well get some form of AIR support on linux for those of use who develop on linux as well (doubt it comes back with Adobe driving the train)  who knows what the future holds.. GOD KNOWS IM SICK OF CYGWIN...
All I'm saying is we cant build a business around uncertainty.
We recently signed up for business catalyst, I would of like'd to see some Actionscript API's for that... (I Love how muse and the dreamweaver extensions are using  them but it seem they forget to package some up for us. I guess they really do expect us to use html5 for everything.)
They are close to releasing Flash builder 4.6 but Creative Suite Extension Builder hasnt been updated...  Theres a lot of things getting left out...
There seems to be no communication.  Amidst all that goodness that has drawn us to using Flash and Adobe AIR for our game development theres a lot of confusion.
And take it from me and save yourself some time and dont call customer service I have found more info over the forums in two minutes then I did in four hours of phone conversation.
I think we may just hold off on purchasing anything else until they sort through the storm.
Consider we are currently developing our apps with  Business Catalyst, CS5.5 Web Premium, Flash Media Server,  CS Extension Builder, and there new flash 3d API's  we dont have time or money to waste on such foolishness..
Someone needs to remind Adobe that they make software, They focus so much on the end users, THEY ARE NOT YOUR CUSTOMERS.. DESIGNERS AND DEVELOPERS ARE.. JUST EQUIP US WITH THE BEST TOOLS AND WELL MAKE THE DECISION...

  • Extension Builder 2.0 and InDesign CS5?

    Hi,
I recently tried to create an Adobe Extension that uses host adapters. But after exporting the extension and installing it with the Adobe Extension Manager CS5 I got an error message during startup of InDesign that the host adapter is not a valid plugin. Is it possible that the Extension Manager 2.0 does not support InDesign CS5 with host adapters? Because the plugin without the host adapter works. Or do I need older host adapter plugins? If yes, where can I download them?
    Thanks a lot,

  • Extension Builder 3 and AS3/Flex

Just a short question, to be sure:
Extension Builder 3 will NOT support AS3/Flex but only "HTML5 Techniques"? In other words: Everything we/paid subcontractors have build can be thrown in to the trash an be build again to work with Creative Suite CC?

Bingo! :-) Adobe knows how to piss of 3rd party developers.
But it's actually not that simple. You can't just convert everything to HTML 5 and be "happy". If you want to support older creative suite versions (CS6 / CS5) you additionally have to build it in AS3 / FLEX since they don't support the new HTML 5 technology.
Double strike, pain in the *** for all of us, at least for the next 2 years until everybody converted to the new CC philosophy.

  • CS5 Extension Builder and Indesign Server ?

    Hello,
Is it possible to write an extension with CS5 Extension Builder for Indesign Server? It works fine with Indesign Desktop for me, but I'm ot sure for the Server version. Spend time to search on the web, without results.Just found this note in "indesign_cs5_server_scripting_guide.pdf" : You can use the  ExtendScript Toolkit to create JavaScript scripts explicitly for InDesign  Server, or you can use the Creative Suite Extension Builder (CS Extension  Builder) to develop CS extensions in ActionScript. CS extensions are  Flash-based (SWF) and can potentially work in a variety of Creative Suite  applications.
    Many thanks in advance,
    David

    Hello,
Thanks a lot for the answer. This is not good news for us, but again, thanks for the answer.
In few words, we are a leading French software editor (www.perigee.fr). Our software is a database that works with Indesign (using a C++ plugin), and manage pictures, text blocs, tables from PIM & DAM mgt.
We are working on a brand new software suite that will be based on both Indesign and Indesign Server. We intend to develop the Indesign UI in ActionScript and CS5 Extension Builder.
On the model side, we need something that works as well on both platforms. We tested several solutions (C++, Javascript) so far but we came to the conclusion that it would be ideal to use ActionScript.
If there is no solution for AS and Indesign Server, we'll have to mix four programming languages in our solution (Java, C++, ActionScript and some JavaScript). Alternatively we could delay part of our project depending on the availability of AS on Indesign Server.
We really like ActionScript and CS5 Extension Builder, and hopefully a solution to stay on our preferred languages: ActionScript and Java.
We also explored the full Java/Corba option but it is not supported on the non-server side. And, again, we believe that ActionScript is the best solution.
I hope our problem is clearer now.
Do you see anything we may have missed?
Thanks in advance for your answer!
    David
