CC Audio plays out of lip sync from video - Version 6 plays fine.

If I place a single DV NTSC video clip in a timeline in Premiere Pro CC (7.0.1 (105)) - the clip is out of lip sync. I have tried software/hardware rendering with no change.
If I open the same DV clip in a timeline in Premiere Pro 6 - the clip plays fine.
I of course cannot open the CC clip in version 6. All I am doing here is placing a single DV clip in the timeline to cut new start/end and export to MP4 - no effects, filters, nada. I noticed the MP4's were out of sync, then noticed the originals would not play right in the timeline.

I cleaned the cache and re-opened the project - no difference.
On all four of the clips I was working with the video was 5 frames early, so I ended up unlinking everything and shifting the audio 5 frames and exporting.
I also noticed I am not seeing the closed caption display. I am going to uninstall/reinstall CC.

Out of Lip Sync

Hi,
I've export the whole clips from FCP then use compressor to convert AC3 and Mpeg 2...after drag into the timeline in the DVDSP...that's a bit out of lip sync which i can't touch up to make it exac sync in the trim .... what can i do?plz helps....

Sometimes simultaor is not accurate, and building to the hard drive and viewing there or on an actual disc helps.
Also sometimes there is a slight lag when you first start playing from any point in a timeline (i.e., more back about 10-15 seconds prior to where you see it going out of synch before you press play, then start, the first few seconds can be out of synch no matter where you start playback, and if you start earlier, by the time you hit the point where it was out of synch it will look in synch)

Are you trying to trim the audio itself or are you just seeing that the audio is different length by a few frams?
Also exporting the aifs as seperate items from FCP and encoding those may help

interesting...... you know i tried other media and it worked fine. i was trying to play 'amazon instant video'. when you say 'blocked ... by the providor' it seems to me that Amazon would have no interest in restricting the play. is it the producer of the content that resticts the play through some form of licensing or is it apple that restricts amazon play by limiting access to technology? either way its anti-competitive.

Can video be moved independently of audio to line up lip sync in premiere elements?

What version of Premiere Elements are you using and on what computer operating system is it running?
In the absence of that information, I will give you a generalized answer
1. Unlink the audio from its linked video
a. right click the clip and select Unlink Audio and Video
or, if indicated,
b. right click the clip and select Delete Video or Delete Audio
Once the video and audio are unlinked,
a. Select the audio
b. Hold down the Alt key and tap on the right or left arrow key (one tap = 1 frame movement) OR hold down the Shift+Alt keys (together) and tap on the right or left arrow key (one tap = 5 frames movement).
It does work, but sometimes presents sluggish at times.
In Edit Menu/Project Settings/General, you may want to work with Display Format = milliseconds.
Please let us know if that worked for you.

TS2289 Audio in iMovie 11 files but missing in sections when shared to iDVD. The movie and audio plays fine in iMovie but my burned iDVD movie is missing some audio .

I imported a movie into iMovie 11 from a Canon Vixia HFR 300 SD card with no problem. I have a new iMac running OsX 18.8.4 I think. I added chapter markers and shared it with iDVD. And burned it to a DVD. Towards the end of this 30 minute movie the sound just stops. I do remember some screen came up when I wanted to burn DVD that said something was wrong with files but I couldn't figure what do to fix it and allowed me to continue. Any ideas?

Either the problem is in iMovie or in iDVD

No Audio in iMovie
Most common origin is use of audio from iTunes.
Work around -
• Select needed audio to one new playlist
• Copy out this as an Audio-CD .aiff (not .mp3)
• Use this in the movie-project
Other origins are
1. strange / alient file formats as -
• .mp3, .avi, .wmv etc
• Convert them into .aiff 48kHz 16-bit and use this
2. the Mac is set wrongly in regard of midi -
• Close iMovie and other programs
• Start GarageBand
• Make a new GB-project and play some notes
• Close GB and Save
• Now try iMovie again
3. No audio when playback in iMovie 1 to HD 6.
a. in iMovie pref. - deselect ” Playback via Camera”
b. in System preferences - see that Audio out is not set to zero. Mine often does this
without me knowing why.
4. iMovie’08 & 09 & 11
• Toggle audio-scimming by cmd-K

1. FileVault is ON - Turn it off
2. More than 50 audio files in a movie-project
Mix down to one audio clip
3. Project is stored on one (USB) external hard disk - should be a FireWire one
4. the External hard disk is not Mac OS Extended formatted - but
UNIX/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange and this will not work for Video.
5. To little free space on internal boot hard disk.
I go for a minimum of 25Gb free space when project is imported and edited and this goes for
4x3 SD Video. For 16x9 HD my guess would be about 5 times more at least.
Neither Mac OS, iMovie or iDVD can address any other hard disk than the boot drive for it’s
scratch files. (Unlike Final Cut Express/Pro where You select scratch disk/s)

Had the same problem; some Googling around gave me a kludgy, but effective fix
Downgrade Perian from recent versions back to version 1.0.
That worked for me, and so far I haven't encountered any deficiencies — except it takes more advanced versions of Perian to enable QuickTime to handle subtitles in .srt format — that I have noticed.
7. GarageBand fix.
In this set audio to 44.1 kHz (Klaus1 suggestion)
(if this don’t work try 48 kHz - me guessing)
Before burning the DVD.
• Do a DiskImage (File menu and down)
• Double click on the .img file
• Test it with Apple DVD-player
If it’s OK then make Your DVD.
Burn at x1 speed.... (or x4)

• Burn from DiskImage with Apple’s Disk Utilities application

Video: Audio plays fine. No picture though.

I am having trouble getting a video to play on team members ipads.
It is encoded as an MP4 h.264 and I am streaming it from a common server. It plays fine on my ipad, but my two team members get only audio and no picture. Ideas?

I think it had to do with the other two ipads being newer with retina displays. I re-encoded after reading another thread about retina displays, and now all is fine.
Here the answer that was helpful to me in figuring out the problem:
"The reason that the videos were playing on older iPads but not on the current iPad Air has to do with how the videos were encoded. The ones that didn't play on the air had been encoded with the Field Order set to Lower First. When that was changed to 'progressive', the videos played fine on all.
All mobile devices have progressive scan screens, so progressive is usually the right choice to make. I don't know any specifics why earlier iPad models would play interlaced footage and the Air doesn't, but I can make a guess... Apple has been quietly deprecating a bunch of earlier codecs and QuickTime options. This is most noticeable in Mavericks on the desktop. Lip-Synced Music Videos for YouTube?

I have been creating music for 20 years (home studio), and would like to create videos for some of my original songs (currently on mp3 or wav files), then upload to YouTube. I know virtually nothing about video or video editing. I was wondering if Premiere Elements would be a good editing application for my purposes. For each video, someone would film multiple video takes of me lip-syncing to a pre-recorded song. Is Premiere Elements sophisticated or precise enough to allow excellent synchronization between separate video clips and an audio track for lip-syncing purposes? Would you recommend something else (for PC)? Thanks.

The ONLY advantage to PrPro in your stated need, is to do the Audio editing in Audio Units, but then as you are working in Audio already, you probably have a favorite DAW, and that will give you even more control. That is NOT to say that PrPro does not have other pluses, but just not that would likely apply here. Hey, one's gotta' get something for the extra $600, right?
I'd get the trial of PrE 9.0, and test with it. There are a few limitations on certain formats, but it's pretty full-featured for a trial. Just know that it will place a watermark on the Exported/Shared footage, so you cannot deliver/upload that, and get clean, watermark-free footage.
Unless I missed something (I do most of my editing in PrPro, so do not put my PrE through all of its paces), the operations will be almost identical.
For syncing, just remember to work in Timeline View Mode (only way to work in PrPro), and turn Snap OFF (the S key togglesn Snap), otherwise, you will be trying to force little increments, and the Audio will jump about, and Snap onto cuts, etc. Just toggle it back on, when you go back to the Video editing, as it makes general alignment much easier.
If one is doing any Speed change, PrPro might be a bit easier, and offer more control, but not THAT much.
Now, if you do not have a DAW, that you love, then you might consider the CS5.5 Production Premium suite, with Audition included. One can easily do some pretty heavy-duty Audio work in that program. My workflow would be to edit the Video, and then Import the Audio and the Video into Audition, where I would tweak the Audio to perfectly (within that 1 Frame for Video), while watching the Video. Audition will offer the ability to work with Envelopes for the Audio, and adjust the Speed almost infinitely, while maintaining Pitch. However, that is not a cheap suite, and there will be a bit of a learning curve, if one has not used Audition, or a similar DAW before.

Quicktime Video hangs while audio plays fine

I have tried everthing to configure Quicktime to play videos with looking like a set of flashcards. I have upgraded to all the latest versions. I unchecked the "Enable direct3d video acceleration" in the Control Paned Quicktime Preferences and have set it to safe mode (GDI only) per the FAQ. But still I get halting video from video files on my harddrive (not from internet) while the audio plays just fine. Can anyone expain this and tell me how to correct it. My PC system is more than adequate so I do not understand why this occurs. Flash Player video plays just fine and only Quicktime video is a problem. PLEASE HELP! I've paid for the whole first season of "Heroes" on iTunes and am unable to watch it!

BluRay video plays for a few seconds then goes black...audio plays fine

I have several videos that are to play from a main menu, then return to the menu. On all of them, only a few seconds (ranging from 4 to 9 seconds) plays, then the screen goes black while the audio continues. This is happening with all videos. The menu structure is working fine, when I go to the end of each video the menu returns. I'm on a MAC, and all quicktime movies play fine in quicktime player. What am I doing wrong?

I'm in the Windoze world, and don't do BluRay, so I have no idea if the Avid codec is your problem
I guess all I can suggest at this point is to Google for something like
Encore CS5 Avid Codec
and see if anything jumps out

"Green" gets me thinking about issues with DirectX on the PC.
Have you tried the "Disable Direct3D acceleration in QuickTime" section from the following document? (iTunes uses QuickTime for video playback, so the same basic troubleshooting procedures apply.)

Audio Drops at About 7 minutes from video

I am burning an 1:55s movie with idvd
its a lecture and it play basically in its entirety. Only small edits were made and the audio and video works fine in all previews
With about 7 to 5 minutes left in the video the audio drops out. No music was added, no extra files. Cannot understand what happened
Project info seems ok nothing is in the red the files fit on the dvd and its burning at professional quality with 1x burning speed.
Any options?
And no im not using verbatim discs yet Magnavox dvd+r

Some detached audio play fine but other half is not.

I am currently editing a video with iMovie11, I am a frequent user of iMovie but never had this issue before.
I detached audio from the video and some audio plays but other detached audio will not play. The weird thing is that the first half of the project plays fine, the other half this problem happens.
All videos were taken on the same day with the same camera, saved the same format... I didnt change any setting etc. Anyone have any idea what I can do?

Captured content: Audio is out of sync from video

When I capture video off my Panasonic AG-DV2500 into FCP 5, the audio is around 17 frames behind. Does anyone have some advise for this problem?

It's not in the monitor. In recent projects, I've corrected the audio by 17 frames, and the final export does not reveal anything different. Good thought though.

The audio plays fine in the project screen but in fullscreen playback the audio is lost on certain clips often alternating with each clip. How to fix?

Audio is fine in project screen play back but when full screen playback is used the audio is lost from alternating clips. This carries over to the exported file/final version. This is my 1st time using I movie.

After updating to iOS6 this week, the videos I purchased from The Great Courses no longer have the sound in sync with lip motion. Any suggestions for how to resolve this?

Have you made sure that when you sync the movies that you pick the movie that you want synced to be synced? That or I don't know. You should bring it to your local apple store because mine doesn't work either.
