CC can not playback timeline
Hi.
My company just got a 3.4 GHz iMac with 16 GB RAM and an GTX 780M for video editing. I want to use Premiere CC Pro and just installed the 30 day trial.
However, straight to my problem... I can not playback the timeline. I have tried adding audio files, video files (AVCHD and H.264/AAC in QuickTime container), but the timeline does not playback when I hit play. The "play" button goes from a play button to a "stop" button, but the nothing happens. The marker that shows the position on the timeline does not move. Sometime it's also difficult to "stop playback" (make the play button go from showing a "stop symbol" to a "play symbol" again). I've installed CUDA and I've tried changing Project Settings/Video Rendering and Playback to all three available settings. No difference...

Any ideas? If I don't get this working I will have to get Final Cut Pro instead, which I'm not very keen on.
Check in iTunes Preferences/Playback and make sure you have High Definition selected in Preferred Video Version.

I can not open timeline and the canvas can not display because out of memory.
I can not open timeline and the canvas can not diplay. I get a pop up saying "error out of memory" what does it mean and what can I do?
Usually this is because you've got graphics that are cmyk or grayscale not RGB, or that are larger than 4000 by 4000 pixels. Move them on your hard disk so fcp can't find them and make them rgb and resize to an acceptable pixel dimension.

Can not play timeline out DVI connector to projector.
Does anyone know the proper procedure for doing this? I can see the video, and hear the audio, but it freezes on a single frame and will not play. The funny thing is, I can scrub the video and see it, but I can't hit the spacebar and play it!
I've got a presentation in the morning, and it's a little frustrating.

this could be a big part of the problem. You're not using the projector as a DV device or external video device at all. You're not exporting or playing anything out to the projector, it's just a monitor hung on your Mac. Your 'book may not have the testosterone to drive two monitors.

Elements 11 will not playback video
just installed elements 11 and have added an mpeg4 file. all appears good but can not playback the video. only a white screen where the video should play. if i double click the clip the edit window behaves the same. How do I get the video to play? no error messages are displayed. and the audio plays normally.
What computer operating system are you running Premiere Elements 11 on

The answers to the above will prove helpful to finding the reason for the
problem.
What you might want to try is renaming the file extension to: mts, .m2t,
.m2ts, .avi, or .mov to see if the renamed file imports into Premiere
Elements 11 and displays its video. The video imports to elements fine
with no errors and renders fine with no errors. In the playback window it
shows the video when paused. When I move the time line cursor the video
window reacts as you would expect by showing the frames as you move past
them. The issue is when you click play under the playback window, it turns
white and you hear the audio with no video.

When I have video clips on my timeline, they do not play in the monitor screen. I hear the sound track but can not see the image. To test if my new files are somehow the problem, I went back and used video files that I used successfully a year ago, and they no longer play in the monitor window. I hear the sound track, but do not see any video. Have I changed some setting that controls video playback in the monitor window?

Missing in this equation were the version of Premiere Elements that you were using and the computer operating system on which it was running. But...
The deed is done. But.....Until now and after you went ahead and moved to version 12, we now learn what version of Premiere Elements you were using. We still do not know the computer operating system involved.
You just said Premiere Elements 10. Premiere Elements 10 is hit by a serious known display issue if the computer uses a NVIDIA GeForce video card/graphics card. In this issue, the only remedy is to roll back the driver version to about May 2013. The description of the problem and how to do the roll back are described in one of the Announcements at the top of this forum. What video card/graphics card does your computer use?
On another front, Adobe will be releasing a new version of Premiere Elements any day now. No one but Adobe knows the feature set for the new version. That type of information is announced at the moment of release of the new version.
So the remedy to the problem that you presented in this thread could have been...
1. Rolling back the NVIDIA GeForce driver version to about May 2013 if possible (Windows 8 or 8.1 64 bit, may not be possible)
2. Move to another version of Premiere Elements (which you did)
I offer the above for consideration so that you can review your decisions. We are pleased to learn that Premiere Elements 12/12.1 works for you.

When I use my IPhone 4S to view the Shaw Go Movie Central App when I am at home I only use WiFi which is automatic, I start watching a show and sometimes I will get a message like "you can not use your cellular for video playback" or something close to that. Then I received an email from Telus saying I had used my 3G instead of Wi-Fi using 75% of my data. How can this happen when I'm on Wi-Fi at home? If it switched to 3G for some reason I should have been disconnected and not just transferred to 3G network using up my data. What is the fix for this??
It doesn't have to be that complicated, Verizon iPhones come unlocked, just tell VZ you're going on Holiday/Traveling and suspend the service, no need to pay for service if you're not going to be using it. Pick up local SIM cards in the countries of your choosing, pop them in, re-activate iMessage and you're set!
I recommend getting a SIM card from the Three network in England, they have great EU roaming rates and free like-home roaming in Italy.
Set your phone's region to match the country you're in, it'll save from some headaches when calling local/international numbers.
To answer your questions,
1. If you choose not to have a local SIM card, it is good to keep your phone in Airplane mode to save battery.
2. Make sure the two iPhones have different names to reduce sync/restore issues.
3. If husband has an iPhone also, you can chat with iMessage/Facetime, just give him heads up about the new number you'll have. Otherwise, use Whatsapp if he's got an Android. You can activate Whatsapp with your American number or the international number if you choose to get a SIM in Europe.
Also, Get the MagicJack app and/or Google Hangouts, both of those apps provide you with free calling to the USA and Canada using any internet connection. Google Voice is another good way to SMS across the seas.

Hi, I've just downloaded the latest release 10.1.1 and now I do not see any more correctly my clips either in the canvas and in the timeline. Playing clips, they now appears with garbled images, completely unstables: I can not editing in these conditions!

I've stored the library in HARD DISK which is installed inside my computer (1 TB capacity) and different from my hard disk in which I've installed all my applications (600 GB capacity).
I've installed FCP since 2001, bought FCP X in 2012: never had a problem. Yesterday I was editing my video of my last vacations (in California!) and I have updated FCP X, downloading FCP X 10.1.1: then the problem!
Strange is the fact that I've just tried to export a short project, I can see the final product quite well.
What is impossible is playing the clips within Final Cut: they are jumpimg, moving, presenting some frame in green or red ...
Everything all right in iMovie.
I've just checked the RAM: 9GB out of 12 GB is busy, could this be the problem?
Motion is very slow: for 20 sec of project, it takes minutes to play. And once again, if you finalize the projet and export it in Quicktime, you can see it correctly.
I do hope you may suggest something, I'm getting crazy!

I can not export a Keynote 2014 as a manual advance quicktime. What is the best way to playback a Keynote on a PC to look exactly like the keynote that I created?
There's no really good way for it anymore. Sharing via iCloud is likely the best possible option, but I haven't had an opportunity to try that out yet. I'll need to get my hands on a Windows PC to see how an updated Windows browser displays presentations.

I am so frustrated about Adobe Flash player. I can not play any Facebook games, open certain files and pictures and documents that I need to access because not only does this phone not do it but my old Palm Pre couldn't do it either. I have had so many times where I needed to access things either online or via email, or message that I can not even look at because of this. I have to wait until I for home or ask someone else to do it for me which is embarrassing. I rave about my iPhone 4S all the time because it is truly great except for this. When it use to happen with my Pal Pre I figures once I got my iPhone that it wouldn't happen anymore but I guess I was completely wrong. I have had this problem for years and always get a message saying that it's being worked on. Well a couple of years is a long time to work on it. I understand about contracts and stuff but why is it taking a company such as Apple to be able to get it for their products? I get a lot and always want to play the games on Facebook but I can't do it on most of them at least the ones I have tried. So I can not play against anyone at that time I have to wait until I get home or use someone else's computer or something. Please tell me that in the extremely near future that this will not be a problem anymore. PLEASE!! I am sure I am not the only one out there who is having issues and if you do get it available please let there be an upload/upgrade for current phones and not just for future versions of Apple phones. That just wouldnt be very fair to all of your loyal customers and tell everyone to get your products because they are great and end up leaving this little problem out until they by your phone. Especially if they just got the phone they have. You guys are awesome with technology I have faith that you can make this available to all Apple products old and new by uploads or upgrades. Thank you hopefully can give me some info about the status with this or if there wen is one. I would have thought that being a company such as you are that it would already be taking care of right from the beginning and not wait years to take care of somewhat that is very important ro have especially when there is so much our there using Adobe Flash now. Can not see historical data in Time Machine backup
Hi folks
First my setup:
MBP Late2012
Samsung Evo 840 SSD
external USB 3.0 1TB as TimeMachine HD
Mac OS X Mavericks
Now my problem.
After updating to Mavericks I've made a full backup with Time Machine.
Then I swapped the former 500TB HDD to the Samsung Evo 840 500TB.
A clean setup of Mavericks follows.
After that I restored the Backup from Time Machine.
Everything ok. Til now.
Because everthing works fine in the past, I did not control the Time Machine.
Today I wanna restore a File from my "Pictures" folder.
So I opened Time Machine.
Oops.
There I can only see the latest run.
Also in the timeline on the right side the only entries are TODAY and NOW.
I can not scroll into the past.
All windows behind the current window have a black titlebar.
In Mountain lion the titlebars are grey if there is data available
and the title contains the date of the backup.
What is the problem?
Is there a bug?
Did I something wrong?

I can not play the sequence in preview mode. How do I fix this issue?
Each frame loads in the preview window when highlighted, but I can not play the sequence.
I am working on a project for school. I have been draging clips down to the timeline and matching it with a few voice overs. Nothing too complex. I have been previewing my work as I go by pressing the space bar, Im not sure what I did but now Premiere will not play the preview in the Program sequence window.

Can not capture from Sony HDV 1080i (recording in 60i)

We are trying to capture from the above camera to a Mac Dual G5. We are using FinalCutPro 5.1.2. We are using a FireWire 400 cable to connect to the front of the computer (have also tryed back of Cinema Display). The footage was captured in HDV1080/60i, and we have tried the corresponding formats in Easy Setup (Basic, standard, Apple Intermediate).
The problem: we can control the camera from the Log and Capture windows, but when starting capture, no data is coming in, and the program therefor gives up after a few seconds (displaying a no data error message).
We have tried Batch and Now capture. We can log clips, and get the correct time code, but can not capture those clips due to the no data problem.This is a good workaround for curing your camera recognition problem with FCP (if that's what it is):
First, check that your Easy Setup / Timeline / Camera or Deck Settings are all exactly the same, then making sure your camera or deck is in VTR mode, try to capture again.
FCP uses a different form of QT than iMovie for capturing, so if the camera works in iMovie (or if it's listed in System Profiler) but not FCP, it obviously means your Mac can see the VTR but FCP can't, so you need to do this QuickTime fix.

Follow the instructions carefully and you should have things running in no time - it's quite safe but you must Trash the Receipts AND re-install QT from the link provided.
If the Camera / Deck isn't recognised by iMovie or System Profiler, try resetting the Firewire Bus . . . Turn off the Mac and disconnect the power and all Firewire cables. Leave it for 30 mins then connect back up.
Still not working? Try a different Firewire cable.
Failing all this, try resetting the PMU (Power Management Unit). The method varies from machine to machine, so visit the Apple site and search for it in support.
Don't use iMovie for capturing - it doesn't give you a timecode and that's very important.
