CC Desktop app crashes mid-installation

Hey,
I work in a post-production facility, and every time we need to install an update for CC, at least half of our machines experience problems with the CC Desktop App - most of the issues have to do with softwares not showing up as installed (even though they are), and hitting "install" again on those machines, removes user preferences. The bigger issue is when the Desktop App wont launch at all, or it launches but then crashes after a few seconds, with restart being the only way to bring it back.
Needless to say these issues are problematic, but since the internet is flooded with complains I assume you're already aware of them.
The bigger problem is this time around, one of the machines that had the Desktop App crash, didn't launch the app back after restart.
I tried following the recommended instructions, removed the app with the CC Cleaner tool, changed the OOBE folder name to OOBE.old, restarted the machine again and downloaded the newest version of CC installer from the Adobe website.
When trying to reinstall, the installer reaches the "Installing" phase and crashes (more like "disappears"), without giving any form of error massage.
I should note that the machine is a mac pro (running OS X 10.9), and that before running the reinstall I checked that no processes related to adobe were running and manually made sure the CC desktop app was completely removed. I also tried installing from different users but am getting the same results.
Have you seen this issue before? Is there something else I didn't try?
Or alternatively, can I somehow download offline installers for the latest update? Having access to offline installers would make our update process way easier, both on us and on our bandwidth (having to log in to different machines and download the same updates over and over again isn't the greatest way, especially while the desktop app is so unpredictable and still has major issues).
Thanks!
Michael

For people who might be having the same issue - I ended up half-solving this by copying over and replacing the entire CC Desktop App folder (under Applications > Utilities) from another machine that was working fine.
Now the Desktop Application is actually able to launch, but for some reason After Effects is stuck at 76% updating, giving an error message that AE needs to be closed before continuing. Thing is that AE is definitely not running - I made sure of that using both activity monitor and via the command line, and also tried restarting the machine, but am still getting the same error.
I than tried quitting the CC Desktop app and launching AE (which was obviously not updated), than chose "updates" from inside AE. It launched the old adobe application manager (the machine also has CS5 installed), and installed the updates from there, where everything seem to install fine with no problems.

  • CC desktop app crash on update

Why does the CC desktop app crash every time I try to update it? This is the error message -
We've encountered the following issues: Sorry, there seems to be a problem with the installation process (Error code A12E1) For troubleshooting tips, please visit our customer support page.
I did a chat that was of no help at all, basically told me how to downlod and install the app, which I've done too many times now. We are paying way too much for CC for issues (and service) like this.
Mac OS X 10.7.5, iMac 3.06 GHz Intel Core i3, 4 GB RAM

    Hi Scott,
Was the A12E1 error when attempting to update the Creative Cloud app itself? I would test to see if the update fails when attempting the install it from a new admin account.
Create a new admin account with rights to administer the computer
    10.7 - http://support.apple.com/kb/PH4600
Log out of your current account and into the newly created one
Attempt the update again. The Creative Cloud app can be launched from the Applications folder if needed
If this works you can log back into your original account but it may be an indication that permissions are not fully correct on the account.

  • Creative Cloud Desktop App Crash on Mac

Over the past several weeks, I've been experiencing major crashes across my CC Applications. I've traced it back to a crash of the Creative Cloud Desktop App - apparently if this crashes, none of my CC apps can be loaded.
Whenever it happens, I try restarting to no avail and then end up having to use the CC Cleaner Tool and re-install the Desktop App. Having done this multiple times now, I'm starting to get annoyed at the lost productivity. Is there something I can do to fix this, or is the CC Desktop app just buggy?
I don't know if I can run everything if I just uninstall it, but I like the centralized updating feature, so I would prefer to keep it.
    Any help appreciated.
    Info:
Current Version of CC - all apps up to date (mostly using AE and PP)
    Mac Pro Tower, Mid 2010
    2x2.4ghz Quad Xeon
    ATI Radeon HD 5770
    14GB 1066 DDR3
    OS X 10.7.5

Thanks for this.  In the Cleaner App, I only saw Application Manager for OS 10.6 (other than my installed CC apps).  I cleaned this one only.  However after restarting, athough the cleaner said the uninstall was successful, I could not find any log file for the Cleaner App.  I still reinstalled the CC Desktop App, but with the same results.
Do I need to uninstall ALL the CC apps?
    Thanks again.

  • CC Desktop App crashes when App tab is selected

I'm running Windows 7 x64. After attempting to upgrade LR4 via the CC Desktop App, LR4 was removed, but the upgrade to LR5 failed. The installation of LR5 was somehow botched. All that appeared was a reference to LR5.7 in the Programs and Features section of the Control Panel. The icon was white. It could not be uninstalled using Add/Remove Programs. The CC Cleaner Tool does not have an option for LR, so I downloaded Microsoft Fix It Fix problems that programs cannot be installed or uninstalled. It detected LR5.7 and removed it. The icon was gone. Next, I attempted to run CC Desktop App and again it crashed shortly after the App tab was selected. So, I removed CC Desktop App using the CC Cleaner Tool, then downloaded and reinstalled CC Desktop App. Again, it crashed shortly after selecting the App tab.
I've read many similar reports regarding this issue in the forums, but nothing anyone has suggested thus far has proved to be a solution; at least not in my case. What other information do you need from me in order to resolve this problem?

  • Cc desktop app crashs after language switch, cant be removed, cant be installed again

2nd big trouble after beeing in the c.cloud for some weeks now.. I haven't seen the Adobe.forums in all the years as a customer so often before as I did in the last weeks..
What did happen? I have swichted the language in the cc desktop app from German to English, because I need to download Photoshop in english.
During the download the app crashed. Now it is crashing immediately after launch. I can not uninstall it, the uninstaller crashs, I can not download/install a new version, this is crashing too.
    System: OSX 10.9.4
    This hint here:
CC Applications crash immediately after launch
..must be a bad joke, how should you access the settings if it crashs immediately..?
I have also tried these hints (exept no4), last time it helped, this time no success:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/aam-lists-removed-apps-date.html
Comment to No4): removing all Adobe software, using the cleaning tool and start again is no option at all, this is too time consuming and cant be the solution just to get this little app running again. This is Windows95ish.. format your harddrive and start again.. ...come on Adobe you could do better...

    **UPDATE**
Called up Adobe Tech support for a 3rd time, and this time got someone who was willing to work with me on this. Since the past two times we've used the "Install Now" option in Creative Cloud Desktop to update the application, which usually leads to failure, we tried to dump the current install and start fresh with the desktop app. Uninstalling the CC Desktop doesn't remove any of the installed programs.
Do try this alternate method we:
    Uninstalled Creative Cloud Desktop application
    Restarted
Downloaded and installed the latest version of Creative Cloud Desktop at Free Creative Cloud | Download Adobe Creative Cloud free trial
Once it launched it took about 20 seconds to sync up with the applications I currently have installed, but recognized they were there, and indicated there were updates!
    Ran all the updates
This is why I seldom take the first "no" as an answer...
I hope that this helps someone else out.

  • CC desktop app crashes on sign in. Unable to launch any CC applications .

I'm having a problem with the Creative Cloud desktop app. It keeps crashing when I enter my Adobe ID to sign in. If I try to launch any of the CC applications, the Adobe Application Manager opens with a "Sign In Required" message. When I attempt the sign in from AAM, that crashes as well. I am unable to use any Adobe products on my laptop right now. This all happened after running a string of updates.
    Here is some system info:
    MacBook Pro 2011
    2.2 i7, 16GB, 512GB SSD
    OS X 10.8.4
And a few things that I have tried:
Uninstalled and reinstalled Creative Cloud Desktop.
    Changed Adobe ID password.
    Trashed CC Desktop preferences.
    Trashed all other Adobe preferences.
    Rebooted.
One thing that did get it working was creating a new user account and signing in under the new account. But when I log back in to my personal user account It requires another Adobe ID sign in and nothing works.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Hi,
I've downloaded and installed the Creative Cloud desktop app, but it crashed within 10 seconds of opening. I've tried deleting all the files and re-installing, plus signing in and out.
    I have a Macbook Pro with OS X v 10.7.5

    Hi stefano aloise,
It seems that "Appdata" folder is hidden, we simply have to un-hide this folder.
    Solution 1:
Please try :Show hidden files - Windows Help
    Solution 2:
    Click on start button
    Click on run
    Type : "%localappdata%"
Then, click go to Adobe> OOBE.
    It should work.

  • Why is the CC desktop app not recognizing installs of applications?

CC app is installed but does not recognize any oc the instalations of adobe products ( full suite installed)
When running updates through the applications they are run through application manager not the CC Desktop app.

Full Creative cloud suite. Instaled from a file not from the CC desktop app.
There was still cs5.5 installed on the when CC was installed but thats now been uninstalled. I'm guessing adobe application manager should have gone with it but thats what opens when you run updates through photoshop etc. The Desktop app only shows lnks to download/try all the apps that are already installed.

    Hi there,
Problems here as well. Identical issue on two different machines. Video plays for 2 or 3 seconds then freezes. In a DVD skipping a chapter plays the next 3 seconds then it freezes again.
In Elgato tv it seems to stream and save TV as you can use fast forward and rewind but you can't watch live TV.
Serves me right for updating two at the same time.
Tried the permissions trick but no change. Now trying download and reinstall (on one).
One is a G4 with latest version of 10.4 and the other is an Intel 2.66 latest iMac with latest version of 10.5.
How do I uninstall and get back to where I was? I assume I would need to uninstall iTunes as well? What a pain.
    Many thanks in advance.

  • Unable to install Adobe Story desktop app on OS X

Hey everyone.  I'm a recent owner of the Retina MacBook Pro and subscriber to Adobe Creative Cloud.
I'm having trouble installing the Adobe Story desktop app on OS X 10.8.2. When I go to the Story Plus web app and try to install the desktop app, the Air installer says something along the lines of "...the installer is damaged. Request a new installer from the developer."
Now on my previous MBP, this had never happened, and the app installed the first try. I've tried a multiple times to get this to work, but no avail. I'd really appreciate it if someone could help me get Adobe Story running as a desktop app.
Also, one more thing: attempting to log in to the Adobe support forums sends me into a redirect loop on my notebook. I ended up having to log into here on my iPad. Not sure if that's a bug or something on my side; thought it I should point it out.
Anyways, cheers and thanks to anyone who can help.

  • Issue downloading the Creative Cloud Desktop App...

I can download the installer off of adobe's website without an issue. When I attempt to install the desktop app through the installer however, the installer gets about halfway through and then just disappears with no error code or message. It simply disappears and never finishes installing. I've tried uninstalling and removing all traces of the installer and desktop app before trying to reinstall but it leaves me with the same problem happening again. The very first time, I installed the desktop app successfully, but there was an error with it a few months in and it said the error would likely be resolved by reinstalling. It hasn't worked since then. I am on a late 2012 Macbook Pro Retina on OS 10.8.5.
