CC Desktop App vs. Application Manager...

Hello,
I'm using Mac OS 10.6.8, and am currently disinclined to ramp up to Mavericks. I understand some of the software limitations that decision presents--certain things aren't possible for me in Photoshop, maybe Aperture doesn't work at all...but for what I'm using CC for, I'm ok with that for the time being. However I definitely can't use the CC Desktop App, and I'm wondering if the Application Manager will still indicate when my installed version of, for example, Photoshop CC is in need of update? I don't mind initiating the process manually (in fact in some ways I prefer it that way) but how will I know when an update has been released? Thanks!

Hi Fordm,
Yes . Application manager will prompt you for the updates as and when its available although post installation of update(s) , product might not work because of system compatibility . Hence it is recommended to upgrade to Mavericks soon.

  • Cant install creative could desktop app, but application manager!?

    Hi there,
i downloaded the cc-setup file and it installed the application manager, but not the creative cloud desktop app. So i am able to install Photoshop, but not Acrobat for example. This is only possible in the CC-App. How can i fix this?
    EDIT:
I found out this is caused by every windows older than windows 7 (in my case windows vista). So my new question: Am i not able to install a couple of apps (not included in application manager) due to my windows version? That would be terrible!

    Hi Dullodir,
Adobe CC apps are not tested on Win Vista machine. The software may work on other OS's, but Adobe didn't test these and can't guarantee that the software will work. Please find the system requirements to install CC app: http://www.adobe.com/ie/products/creativecloud/tech-specs.html .

  • Can't Install any CS6 Apps using Application Manager

    Hi,
I have a Mac Mini (mid July 2011) running OSX Lion (10.7.4) and a new Creative Cloud subscription but I'm having real problems when I try to install any creative suite application using Adobe Application Manager. AAM downloads the app and tries to install it but the result is always the same...
The installation image mounts on the desktop, AAM says 'Installing' then the installation image disappears from the desktop and AAM gives the message 'Installation Failed'. The error report is always the same for every app. Here is an example from trying to install Adobe Acrobat X Pro:
    Exit Code: 7
Please see specific errors and warnings below for troubleshooting. For example,  ERROR: DW050 ...
    -------------------------------------- Summary --------------------------------------
    - 0 fatal error(s), 4 error(s), 0 warning(s)
ERROR: DW050: The following payload errors were found during install:
ERROR: DW050:  - Acrobat Professional: Install failed
ERROR: DW050:  - Acrobat Professional: Install failed
ERROR: DW050:  - Suite Shared Configuration CS6: Skipped due to driver payload failure
ERROR: DW050:  - Acrobat X Pro : Skipped due to driver payload failure
I get the same type of error for any app that I try to install.
It's driving me crazy. I also have a MacBook (early 2009) running Snow Leopard and I have no problems installing apps from Creative Cloud onto that machine. I just can't get anything to install on the Mac Mini - I've tried running the Creative Suite Cleaning Tool but this didn't help.
    I'm using AAM Version 6.2.77
Can anyone shed any light on this?
    Many thanks,
    John.

Jeff, many thanks for your reply. Unfortunately even trying to install one of the trial versions (Photoshop CS6 for example) didn't work as this relied on the Adobe Download Manager which just kept causing my machine to freeze.
I tried various things including uninstalling and re-installing various bits and pieces like the download manager, Adobe AIR, FlashPlayer, etc. But nothing would work.
In the end I had to resort to a completey clean install of my operating system which has now resolved the issue (although I still had a few teething troubles with the AAM).
    Hopefully the problem won't re-appear.
    Thanks,
    John.

  • No option to install/delete/update CS6 apps from Application Manager.

I have a registered copy of CS6 Master Collection installed on my MacBook Pro running OS X Yosemite 10.10.2.  The Application Manager does not show any options for apps excepts for CC and CC 2014 apps.  Is this how it is supposed to be?  My reason for inquiring about this is because I am having issues installing CC 2014 apps and it was suggested by support to uninstall the CS6 apps, install the CC 2014 apps, then reinstall the CS6 apps from the Application Manager.  As of yet, I am not convinced this is a safe move considering the installation issues I have encountered thus far.  I need my CS6 apps for school work (especially Encore).

Here is a screenshot of my Application Manager and the current version of Creative Cloud.

  • Re-launching apps from Application Manager

How do you launch an app again after the first launch? The Application Manager doesn't seem to work the second time around.

    Hi pamborama,
Please look into 'Start > All Programs' (on WIN) or the 'Applications' (on MAC) folder to find the application you installed and launch it from there.

  • Not able to download any apps from Application Manager

I have no idea what's going on, but I cannot download anything from the CC.  Application Manager opens and give me all the options of what to download, but everything is giving me an error.  I went and followed the steps and uninstalled everything but redownloading still doesn't work.  Below is an example of the error I'm receiving Any help would be appreciated.

  • CC Apps for download not showing up in Applications Manager

I would like to download additional CC applications (Photoshop and InDesign) however those options do not show up on my Adobe Applications Manager. Why are these two apps not showing up? I do not yet have them installed on my computer.

  • Creative Cloud / Adobe Application Manager

Do Creative Cloud & Adobe Application Manager do the same thing/ duplicate each other?
Creative Cloud says Photoshop CC is up to date & on checking the version, it's on 14.1.1
CS6 (which i already had installed before joining CC) recently updated itself to CS6 'Extended' & currently shows as version 13.0.1
Adobe Application Manager popped up today saying there's an update for Photoshop CS6 & Photoshop CC to 13.1.2   it states:
"This Adobe® Photoshop® and Photoshop Extended 13.1.2 update installs new features for Adobe Creative Cloud members and Photoshop subscribers. It offers exciting new capabilities for design, photography and more, including the freedom to nondestructively edit with Blur Gallery and Liquify using new Smart Object support, the ability to export text and shapes as CSS, the option to create Conditional Actions, and support for new HiDPI displays that enable a dramatic improvement in image fidelity and resolution. Other new workflow timesavers are also included. Customers with Photoshop Extended will also receive new 3D options including improved live previews that simplify the creation of shadows and reflections in 3D artwork and a 32-bit color picker for better illumination control, and more."
Am I too assume that Creative Cloud only updates Phtoshop CC & that Adobe Application manager updates CS6?
I guess too that if i click 'update' in Adobe Application Manager, it will update CS6 & leave CC as it is? (if I deselect the CC update, it deselects the CS6 update too).

    Hi Les,
Creative CLoud Desktop App and Application Manager are the same thing . The pop up that you are getting is from Adobe Application Manager updater and the sole purpose of this application is to connect to the Adobe servers and find out if there is any update available or not .
The update window that you have got is for CS6 only as there isnt any update for PS CC available right now( current version is 14.1.1) .
    Cheers,
    Kartikay Sharma
Thanks Kartikay. I'm sure i'd read somewhere on the forums that Creative Cloud when installed would replace the Application manager? However, I went ahead and clicked on 'update' in Application manager & it said it was trying to apply 'Photoshop 13.1.2 for Creative Cloud' (no mention of CS6). Tthe update failed with the following message:
    'Photoshop 13.1.2 for Creative Cloud
    Installation failed. Error code: U44M1P7'
I've tried removing Photoshop CC from the list of programs to check for updates for in Application Manager but that made no difference either - the update for   'Photoshop 13.1.2 for Creative Cloud' remains & failed again when I tried to apply it.
I then tried removing CS6 from the list of programs to be checked in Application Manager & then it reported all my programs are up to date; when re-checked the box for CS6 the update reappears.
So it seems there is an update for CS6 but there's the 'Photoshop 13.1.2 for Creative Cloud' update linked to it which cannot be unticked without removing the CS6 update as well. If I try to check for updates within CS6, the same problem occurs.
So if the update is indeed just for CS6, how can i apply the update?

  • Application Manager won't open

I have had Creative Cloud for over a year, today I tried to open an INDD file I brought home from my work computer, but it wouldn't open as it had been created with a newer version on INDD. Went to the CCC desktop application but it wouldn't open, then it completely quit. I tried to open Appplication manager but it just won't launch at all.
    Please help!

    Hi HollyRocc,
Kindly provide the version of OS that you are using so that we can help you appropriately.
Meanwhile, I would suggent the below mentioned steps
Uninstall Creative Cloud desktop App and application manager using Cleaner tool.
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
    Re-install Creative cloud.
Creative Cloud Help | Install, update, or uninstall apps
If there are any issues installing creative cloud, try: Troubleshoot Creative Cloud download and install issues
Once your issue with Creative Cloud would resolve we would try to help you with INDD file as well.

  • Why doesn't Photoshop CS6 Appear in the CC Desktop App manager?

Missing CS6 Apps in application manager. Adobe, the app manager has been nothing but problems. Apps never used to dissapear from DVDs or CDs.
My MacBook Pro is capable of running all CC and CS6 apps.
So I downloaded photoshop cs6 from creative.adobe.com. When I went to install it said it could't verify my subscription.

This works as designed. Current versions of the CC app only show the actual CC versions. For the rest refer to this:

  • After update Application manager shows app as not installed

    Hi,
I've installed almost all creative cloud apps since day one and everything is ok.
But, after the last Adobe application manager update, I see "install" beside each app in application manager. I installed two apps after the update (lightroom and acrobat x) and these two are correctly displayed as "installed" (launch application button is now displayed).
This is not a big issue for me, but I'm wondering if this affects the automatic updates procedure. If the updater checks which apps are installed, he knows that I installed also the other apps or it will check only for Lightroom and Acrobat x (the two marked as "installed" in app manager)?
    Thanks
    Andy

I'm having the exact same issue, and was also concerned about whether it would affect it showing me updates for my "installed" programs.

  • Application Manager Completely FU'd

Update Mananager downloaded and installed a new version of Adobe Application Manager.  Just for grins, after it downloaded and put an icon on my desktop, I opened it to see what it was.  It presented a list of 16 Adobe applications, some of which it said were installed, and some of which had an active "Install" link.
Here's the rub:  since I had previously installed most all but one of the apps in the CS6 Master collection, including some duplicates where there was both a 32-bit and 64-bit version (e.g. Photoshop, Illustrator, Bridge), all of the applications listed by AM as yet to be installed, are currently installed and operating just fine.
If I click on the "Install" links for one of the apps in Application Manager,  it trys to take me through the process of signing up to download a trial version of that application.
What's up with that?  Do I even need this peice of error-filled trash (Application Manager) cluttering up my hard drive and desktop?
    wmc

Done and no difference after the following occurred:
I deleted what I assumed was the database file you refered to: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\OOBE\PDApp\pim.db
I downloaded and ran as admin the cleaner tool but it only showed products I have installed.  Since I did not want to remove any of them, I did not choose to "clean" anything.  (Although the docs are unclear, it appears to me that "clean" = remove.)
Tried to run AAM, but it gave me an error telling me that AAM was corrupt and that I needed to download and re-install the latest patch.
I downloaded and installed AAM 6.2 and ran it - still no change.  It is still informing me that half of the apps I have installed are yet to be installed.(?!)
So I am back to the original question:  Do I really need AAM, and if not, what are the steps to completely uninstall it?  (I notice it seems to have files all over the place, and no entry in Add/Remove Programs to remove it.)

  • Need to Prevent Adobe Application Manager for upgrading to Creative Cloud

I have successfully packaged Dreamweaver CS5&CS5.5 via Adobe Application Manager Enterprise Edition v2.1 and after a successfully deployed via SCCM Dreamweaver runs perfect. Unfortunatly upon the first launch of the icon on the desktop of "Adobe Application Manager" it's self upgrading to Creative Cloud.  This is a problem.  In this enterprise deployment I have updates set to manual and my AdobeUpdaterAdminPrefs.dat is set to the below which should be preventing this to my understanding <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <Preferences> <Suppressed>1</Suppressed> </Preferences>

Thank you for getting back to me, currently my work around
is to have the deployment delete the two “Adobe Application Manager.lnk”
icons from both the desktop and the start menu for each OS version.  Not
exactly how I would like to have to do it however my
“AdobeUpdaterAdminPrefs.dat” does not seem to block Adobe Application
