CC Desktop will not update.

Win 7 x64. PS & LR CC apps working. Loggon to desktop and it tried to update and failed.
Only blank issues show. The DeskTop C app shortcut was removed from Start menu.
Only way to try again was clicking "Creative Cloud.exe" in c:\Program Files(x86) which
gives same result.
What do I do now?

Sounds similar to my problem. CC Desktop loads and correctly shows all the 2014 updates. But when I click on Update or Update All, the CC Desktop goes blank and nothing happens. In addition, when I click on the settings icon, only Help, Pin to Notification Area, and Quit are available (although perhaps that's normal when updating). I've replaced the opm.db file and installed the latest version of CC Desktop, all to no avail.

Hello,
i am having an issue updating my current apps to 2014. CC desktop will open and show that the updates are available but when i click update it goes to a blank screen. i have a laptop that i also use and know that after the first app you want to update is clicked it will give you new privacy laws or whatever and you have to agree to that before continuing. it seems like it is getting caught somewhere before loading that page.

thanks for the attempt; however it did not work. the application window only goes blank AFTER i click 'update' on an application. sometimes is just stays on the screen like i have not clicked anything except it won't let me click the 'update' button.
it is weird because i am running the same everything on my laptop except laptop has less ram and slower processor and it updated fine with no troubles. only on my desktop.

quad i7 3.4
16gb ram
64-bit win 7 home premium
519Gb available HDD space

I was thinking that some of the songs in your library may have been purchased under a different apple id. You have already done the first thing I would have done by de authorizing and re authorizing. To verify this, highlight one of the songs that will not sync over and use File>Get Info. In the Summary section there will be an Apple ID entry. If it shows something different than what you are currently using then I recommend signing into the Apple ID it shows and authorizing the computer for that one as well.

Palm Desktop will not update with Data after HotSync

Palm Centro
Windows Vista
Desktop v6.2.2.
HotSynch Manager 7.0.2.2.
I have a Palm Centro with Windows Vista. Everytime I HotSync, some of the Desktop items (Calendar, Contacts, Etc.) are updated. I uploaded Palm Desktop so it is the latest version. When I look at the log files, I see the following:
To Do synchronized successfully
Memo Pad synchronized successfully
Backed up some files successfully
Back up 4 files sucessfully
MultiMail BData
Messages Database
HxSyncRegistry
Saved Preferences
Failed to Backup 1 file
Pm TraceDatabase
Protocol Error: Handheld file could not be opened (4004)
SYNCERR_FILE_NOT_OPEN
Any Suggestions on what the bug or setting might be causing this error?

Have you messed with versamail on the device any? Sounds like you have configured an eas account on the device either accidently or intentially, you will have to delete that account before you can sync contacts and calendar to your pc.
Once you have configured versamail to sync any email account you have to have atleast one set up so you will need to set up a new email account either fake or real before you can delete the eas account.

Firefox problems - Can't open from Downloads - Can't print - FF will not update and more and more...

I've been having several problems with Firefox, to the point that I almost can't use it anymore. In no particular order, they include:
1. When I download something, 'Downloads' opens. When a d/l finishes I used to be able to run an install or open an image from there, but now I get this error message,
Windows cannot access the specified device, path of file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item.
...but I can go to my Downloads directory and run or open it from there.
2. If I go to File > Print or File > Print Preview, I get this
Printing Error:
"Before you can perform printer-related tasks such as page setup or printing a document, you need to install a printer. Do you want to install a printer now?"
and if I click yes, i get this,
"Operation could not be completed."
3. Firefox will not update itself. I go to About, it downloads the new update, and I click the Apply Update button. Firefox closes, and nothing happens. A few minutes later I click to run it, and it opens with a 'Software Update' window that says,
Update Failed
"The partial update could not be applied. Firefox will try again by downloading a complete Update"
...and that does not work.
I download the new version, and when trying to run it from Downloads, I get the error (as in #1 above):
"Windows cannot access the specified device, path of file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."
When I go to the folder it's in and run it from there, it installs, but the problems persist.
4. I go to Help|Troubleshooting Information, and clicking the Reset Firefox button only closes Firefox. Clicking the Show Folder button doesn't do anything.
5. I used to be able to drag a url to the desktop, a folder or even a email, but now all I get the the O with a / through it.
6. I also used to be able to, when I click Browse on a site to upload a jpg or a gif, I could right click the file and open it in a photo viewing program (Irfanview or Paint), and now I get
"Windows cannot access the specified drive, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."
I've created a new profile and it makes no difference.
I've disabled all add-ons and it makes no difference (I have to disable them manually).
The problems are there for different user accounts in Windows.
I've uninstalled Firefox, and removed the profile - rebooted and reinstalled it, but the problems persist.
What more do I have to do more to completely uninstall it?
I've kinda saved myself by using Firefox Portable, which I'm running from it's own directory. It runs as it should, but I'd prefer not to have to use it.
If i can't fix it, I'd like to completely uninstall Firefox, and just install it new and have it work properly. I have no (or only occasional minor) problems with Firefox on other computers. This computer is Win XP, fully updated

No matter what I try, Camera Raw will not update from 8.3 to 8.4.1 in PS CC

I've tried completely uninstalling Bridge and Photoshop CC and reinstalling and I'm still on Camera Raw 8.3.
It just will not update.
I also tried the link to manually install and it just says the patch is not applicable.
Any ideas why even after completely removing and reinstalling both Bridge and Photoshop my Camera Raw will not update?

When I replied to your post, I was replying to an original post that came in via my e-mail today at 2:30 and was the most recent thing in the ACR forum and had remained unanswered for 1.5 hours, so I decided to reply. Had your post been put in a forum I subscribed to and happen to notice days ago, then I might have seen it, then, but didn't see it until this afternoon, and the e-mail version of your post only had the scant initial information, not the subsequent question and answer about your OS that you'd replied to on the other forum. So as you say, I had not read the thread, because it was on a forum I didn't subscribe to. So be shocked and perhaps awed as is necessary. My treat.
Second, I did make a typo when I said Win8/8/8.1 and it should have been Win7/8/8.1, which might have been deduced by the repeated 8, so you could have asked for clarification.
Seeing as you're on Windows 7 which ACR 8.4 should be compatible with, one minor detail is that I see in the compatible Lightroom 5.4 requirements that it needs Windows 7 Service Pack 1, which would mean you'd want to be caught up on your Windows Updates, which I would assume you'd be.
There are direct links to ACR 8.4(.1) on Jeff Tranberry's blog that are distinct for PS-CS6 and PS-CC so maybe that is what isn't right?
Keeping Photoshop Up-To-Date
You might check what version of PS-CC you have. 14.2.1 is the most current, and maybe that is prerequisite to ACR 8.4.1, I don't know.
If worse comes to worse, uninstall everything Adobe, then run the CS Cleaner then re-install CC Desktop and see what happens as you install PS-CC and it's updates. It may need to be run several times.
Once you're ready to retry your installs, you also might try to Quit CC Desktop and run it As Administrator in case there is a permissions issue.

I just migrated from 2009 I-Mac with Mountain Lion to New I-Mac with Mountain Lion with migration Assistant. Now... I tunes will not update although Apple says one is available

a couple of things - you should not "migrate" applications - you should use the new ones that come preinstalled - what version of of iPhoto do you have on your new mac?
Migration assistance does not handle the iPhoto library well sometimes - the best way is to drag the bad iphoto library from the pictures folder on the new system to the desktop, connect the two systems together (network, firewire target mode, etc) and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity from the old system to the pictures folder of the new system and launch iPhoto on the new system - it will open and convert the iPhoto library as necessary and you will be fine - once you test the iPhoto library you can delete the one on the desktop

There are many possible causes for this issue. Take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Some may not apply to your model. Back up all data before making any changes.
1. Start with the steps recommended in this support article. Don't skip any of the steps. It's the starting point for further efforts to solve the problem.
2. Run Software Update and make sure you have a fully up-to-date installation of OS X.
3. If you've installed an application called "Memory Clean" or any other third-party software that is supposed to "clean" or "purge" memory automatically, remove it according to the developer's instructions and restart. You should do that even if the software is not causing the problem, because it's useless.
4. Other third-party software that has been reported to interfere with sound output includes "Boom" and "Samsung Kies." If applicable, uninstall according to the developer's instructions (not by dragging something to the Trash.)
5. If an AirPlay device is selected for sound output from iTunes (or from other applications via third-party software such as "Airfoil"), deselect it.
6. Launch the application "Audio MIDI Setup" by entering the first few letters of its name in a Spotlight search and selecting it in the results (it should be at the top.) Select Built-in Output from the list on the left. If the Mute boxes are checked, uncheck them.
7. If a red light is visible in the audio-out port when sound should be playing, the internal switch is stuck in the position for digital output. You may be able to free it by inserting and removing a mini-stereo jack of the proper size. Inserting any kind of tool in the port may cause damage that won't be covered by your warranty.
If there's no red light, the switch may still be stuck in the headphone position. Try to free it the same way.
8. Disconnect all wired peripherals except keyboard and mouse, if applicable. If more than one display is connected, disconnect all extra ones. Restart and test.
9. If you have a MacBook Air, turn off Bluetooth and restart.
10. Start up in safe mode. Don't log in; just restart as usual when the login screen appears. When you do, make sure the words "Safe Boot" do not appear in the login screen. If they do, the system is still in safe mode and sound won't work.
11. Reset the NVRAM.
12. Reset the SMC.
13. Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
/Library/Preferences/Audio
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Move the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password. Restart the computer and empty the Trash. Recreate your settings in the Sound preference pane.

IMovie will not update after upgrading to iOS Yosemite

Have upgraded to Yosemite on iMac and Mac book, but iMovie will not update on either devices...it begins the long update and never seems to complete. On the iMac it says "no updates available" but the iMovie icon is crossed out on desktop. Says that version is not compatable. Macbook is showing an update for iMovie, but have tried several times to update and has not worked yet. Any suggestions???

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

If you have Webmail access you might check that, sometimes a malformed email can clog the system.
Not certain, but this can fix myriad Mail problems...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), it will try to repair your Disk Directory while the spinning radian is happening, so let it go, run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move these folder & file to the Desktop.
Move this Folder to the Desktop...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail/
Move this file to the Desktop...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/Envelope Index
Reboot.
If that doesn't do it and you can afford to redo all your Rules, try these & reboot...

IPod Shuffle will not update

My iPod shuffle is refusing to do anything. When connected to iTunes (v. 6.0.1), it will not update songs, either automatically or by manually selecting a playlist. The shuffle also will not update using the 2005-11-17 iPod Updater, both buttons are always grayed out. Every time the shuffle is connected to the computer, and I launch iTunes, it says that I need to update the firmware and directs me to download iPod Update 2005-11-17. The iPod still mounts onto the desktop, and shows up in iTunes, but nothing can be done with it. I have tried whipping the shuffle clean, and it still cannot be updated. I have also tired deleting com.apple.iPod.plist, and that doesn’t work either. I have already searched though the forms here and I have yet to find anything that works. Your help is greatly appreciated.

FINALLY FIX IT!!!
I found out how to fix this problem. You have to to an archive install of OS 10.4, and then run system updater. Once everything is installed restart, and plug your iPod into your system. Make sure its the 2006-01-10 updater that launches, other wise you can manually download it from the Apple support page. You should then be able to click on the restore button. After this is finished, you can launch iTunes and finally put music on your shuffle.
It works ... and it only took me 3 iPods from Apple to figure it all out.

Hp Pavilion will not update the bios

So here is the thing, I tried to update my bios for my pavilion desktop so I could install my new graphics card. I went to system information and looked up my current bios. It is AMI 7.16, 10-5-2011. I went to the hp wedsite and found that my product has an update for the bios, AMI 7.16 Rev. A from 2013. I downloaded and used the auto-installer, it did its thing and automanatic restarted my computer. This is the weird part, in system information after the restart, it still says I have the bios from 2011. So my bios will not update, or at least my computer will not recognize it did. How do I fix this? While I have you let me ask about my graphics card. So I got a MSI Gefore GTX 750 and put it into legacy mode before installing it. When I try to boot it up, it stays on the "press ESC for startup menu" screen. It makes a few deeps and never comes on. I think it is because of my bios but I could be wrong. Is there another Nvidia graphics card that works better with the Pavilion desktop?

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily. Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).
