CC - External control

Dear,
I'm trying to use external control on a PI File CC. However to use it I have to add the roles
xi_af_channel_admin_display
xi_af_channel_admin_modify
When I go to host:post/nwa/identity and modify my user to add those roles, I can't seem to find them in the database for roles (both UME and Portal).
Any suggestions as to why these roles don't exist in my NWA? Currently on PI 7.1 SP7.

ensure that youhave proper Roles to control CC.

Disable External Control in AnyConnect programmatically (Android)

Hello,
I am using URI mechanism to import certificate from an external application. External Control is then enabled by the user in AnyConnect parameters. Is there a way to disable External Control programmatically using URI mechanism or else? Or user should manually disable this feature?

External Control of PI Adapters. (ABAP Based, HTTP, IDOC)

I found this interesting blog on how to use HTTP post to control externally PI Adapters:

I wrote a java program to call the AdapterEngine and list the status of all the adapters. I then realized that I was getting only the status of the adapters in the Java Stack.
How can I control the adapters in the ABAP stack? I need to start/stop an IDOC adapter from outside PI. (7.1 EHP1)

AFAIK you can't externally control the adapters on ABAP stack. Anyone else, any suggestions?

I'm not really shure if AA3 have it or not, but I can't find the way to get control of parameters on third part plugins with my BCR2000.. (rotary control)
I can use my midi keyboard to play Vsti
I can use my Mackie for the main mixer...
But what about the capability of automatise, for example.. a feedback level's delay whit some rotary external midi hardware?
Maybe it is possible and I don't know, but I can't find the way to do it searching in AA3... I neither can't find info on internet forums..
I'll be very grateful if anyone say something about it

Hi Nico,
Currently, Audition offers no direct support for controlling VST parameters via MIDI, although there are VST effects that handle MIDI control themselves. It is a feature I'd like to see, and it is currently in our feature database in consideration for the next release of Audition.

External Control in 5.5

Am I reading the specs right? Is Adobe discontinuing support for external control in the new release????? If this is true, it is VERY DISAPOINTING as using my Mackie Control is intregral to my workflow. Also, did I read it correctly that there is NO MIDI SUPPORT as well???

You seem to be falling into the trap of believing that because something isn't there at present, that its support is discontinued, and that simply isn't true - although it might well be for MIDI. The true situation is is quite simple; It is that there are several things not present in the new release that were present in 3.0.1, but that does not mean that they won't be replaced or upgraded in the future - except perhaps for MIDI, in which Audition would always be playing catch-up, and which isn't strictly neccessary in audio software anyway. As has been stated before, Audition isn't music programming software like Cubase, etc, it's audio software. Music software generally has all sorts of other things in it to clutter it up, and if it's music production you want to do, you are far better off with software dedicated to that task anyway. People apparently have a lot of success using Reaper for multitrack music recording, and using Audition as a dedicated editor for it - which seems perfectly reasonable to me.
It was always going to be the case with this release that anybody used to using the facilities in Audition just for audio would be disappointed. I'm disappointed. But I'm not giving up on it, because I know darn well that eventually (hopefully quite soon), Adobe will realise that in order to keep the product viable at all, they will have to put audio facilities back on audio software!

Externally Control Count Direction with 6501

I have a USB-6501 Digital I/O & Counter card. I have an encoder that outputs a 50% duty cycle digital squarewave for a count, aswell as a digital high, low to indecate the count direction. Under the DAQmx configureation panel there is an option to have a externally controlled count direction. When selected I get an error saying:
Error - 2000777 occurred at DAQ Assistant
Possible Reason(s):
Measurements: Requested value is not a
supported value for this property.
Property: CI.CountEdges.Dir
You Have Requested: Externally Controlled
You Can Select: Count Up
Channel Name: CountEdges
To me this sounds like my USB-6501 does not support this function. If this is ture is there a way I could perform the same task in code? If not what hardware could perform this?

Hello,
You are correct that your device does not support that functionality. The USB-6501 counter is only usable as an event counter, which means it can only count falling edges of an incoming signal. This counter is usable on only one external terminal, also port 2 line 7.

External Control of ABAP stack adapter/channels possible?

Hi Experts,
Can we Control ABAP based adapters/channel also (e.g IDOC communication channel) using the external control with HTTP GET and POST?
AFAIK we can control the J2EE adapter/communication channels by switching the external control on in RWB.
Is there a way to enable external control of IDOC channel ?

I had observed that for the external control of communication channels the status is showing as "Channel Stopped",is it necessary to stop the channel , Could you please update me what are the statuses we can maintain in the case of external communication channels.

External control unit - which one works best?

i would like to buy an external control unit. which one works best with the final cut studio apps? as far as i know, there are three competitors, being:
TASCAM 1802, MACKIE CONTROL and Digidesign...
I would like to use the unit mainly for audio mixing and Transport functions. Maybe use some function keys for shortcuts... if the unit can be used also in Sound track pro it would not hurt But my major work is in FCP

I'd buy the Tascam 1802 as my control surface. Actually I'm saving my pennies to get one.
I have a Mackie Onyx 1640 with the Firewire card and I love it to pieces as a field mixer. But I can't get it to work well with my apps as a control surface. Maybe I should check and see if Mackie has improved the software.
But I'd go with the Tascam for FCP control surface use. You might get away with one of their smaller models if you don't need that many faders.
Save some money that way, maybe. Leave you more to send to Apple, MOTU, DigiDesign, Bias, and Waves for software upgrades. I mean, we all understand that those folks need our money way more than we do, right? Heh, heh, heh...

External control of Logic Pro

I'm branching out. Is it possible to control start / stop externally with my Midi keyboard, i.e....do I use program change, control nos, etc. I want to be able to set up a song...then once I punch a foot controller or press a certain key, the program starts. Sorry if this sounds stupid. I'm going live for the first time.

You understand that MIDI is not audio (sound), it's only a simple set of instructions that describe the MIDI performance. It (MIDI) can be routed to and sound producing keyboard, module , virtual instrument... etc.
In any case, you have it routed back to your keyboard so natually tha sound will come out of the keyboard, it's the keyboard that is producing the audio. If you want the sound to come out of the computer the audio outs of the keyboard have to be routed to the audio inputs of your sound card, an audio track selected, software monitoring enabled and the track record enabled. (that's one way)
You could also create an instrument track, load a virtual instrument and slide the MIDI performance over to the virtual instrument track.

Externally controlled counter direction with USB-6211

I am using a USB-6211 and created a simple read counter application with the DAQ Assistant. It counts pulses (1 sample on demand) on Counter 0 (PFI0). When I set Direction to Externally Contolled it does not work properly. It counts random up and down. According to the manual my direction input line is Ctr 0 B (PFI1), but the level of this pin has no effect. What am I doing wrong?

According to the following Knowledge Base you have cannot use the default settings wehn trying to externaly control the direction of the counter:

Since these changes cannot be done in the DAQ assistant you have to use the DAQmx API to resolve this. I have attached a small example that does a simple event count on the source pin of counter 0 (which is also the A input of the counter). With a property node I have set the Counter Direction input terminal to PFI 1 (which is the B input). Now when the PFI 1 is low you will count up, when it is high you will count down.

How can I have a canvas and external controls at the same time?

Typically all the space of an applet is used for 2D or 3D; that is, the applet provides the canvas. I am trying to develop an applet where I only want to use part of the applet space for 3D, and then, outside that space (but still within the applet) I would like to add some controls (e.g. buttons or text fields) to provide some interaction. In other words, I want to have an applet that contains something like a frame for 3D, and some controls outside the frame.
It may be quite easy, but I am very new to applets. Can anyone kindly give me some suggestions? Any help is highly appreciated!

External Control in communication channel PI 7.1

Hi experts,
I would need to start and stop a communication channel from an external program, I have read in differents post that is possible via http call. But when I do the http call I get a permissions error. What permissions o roles I need in my user to do this http call?
Is necessary configurate anything? My PI version is 7.1.1.

Taking external control of flash playback

Hello: What would be the best way of taking control
(remotely) of the playback of a flash video/slideshow? I can write
an application that can export a .html file to my server with
timecodes, and then as the user plays the flash annimation from my
web site, it could refer to this .html file for 'live' instructions
on which slide to show?
Would this strategy work, or is there a better way of
accomplishing this?
