CC Licensing Question for Complete Individual Membership

Does the CC licensing terms permit multiple immediate family members in the same household to use any of the CC apps on the same one (or two) computers?
For example, my wife will primarily use Photoshop, Illustrator, inDesign, Acrobat and Premiere Pro.  I, however, will only use Lightroom and occassionally Photoshop.  Are we permitted to have one Complete Individual Membership if we will both be using these on the same (or perhaps two) computers?

For what it's worth, I agree.
I had been a happy user of PhotoShop since version 6, buying upgrades every few years, until I went to upgrade from CS4 to version CS6 and saw that they dropped that upgrade option.
We are a family that occasionally uses these kinds of tools -- three creative kids, a photo/picture editor, and a hobby game developer. Occasional use of PhotoShop, Illustrator, and perhpas Premiere comes up.
Now, one of the children has an educational subscription, but that won't even let all three kids use the software on their computers, much less the rest of the family.
If we were to pay the way Adobe seems to currently intend, we'd sign up for two "pro" subscriptions (at $50/month each) and three "student" subscriptions (at $20/month each.) That would cost us $160/month, or about $2,000 per year. That's enough to buy new laptops for the entire family every year! While I do value software, I'd like to submit that, for family use, the current Adobe plans only make sense for "the 1%."
I'd be happy if the $20/month covered the machines of all the kids in the house. I might be able to stretch the budget to $50/month if it covered all the machines in the house. (Even though I'm pissed that my upgrade path for Photoshop was cut off last year.)
As it is now, we learn to use the Gimp, and Paint.NET, and Inkscape. I'd rather pay an amount of money that I can justify, and stick with Adobe, but that's not currently in the cards.

  • Licensing question for AD enterprise with new SQL Server

    Hi!
We have Server 2008 R2 STD where our AD is located and it has enough User CAL's. Additionally we have Terminal server with TS licenses.
Now we're purchasing a Server 2012 where we plan to install SQL Server 2012 STD where we will install our third party program and this program is going to be used through Terminal server.
Now the question is do I only need SQL CAL's or will I have to get both SQL CAL's AND User CAL's for the new server? I'm thinking AD servers User CAL's is enough for the whole enterprise, but I'm not 100% sure and need help with this!
    Thanks!

Licensing questions should be directed to trained Microsoft licensing specialists instead of a technical forum.
    www.microsoft.com/licensing.
That said, SQL CALs and operating system CALs are sold separately.  Talk with the vendor from whom you are purchasing your licenses.  They should be able to help you sort out the CAL questions.

  • License Question for SharePoint Foundation 2010

I have a question as it regards to the user agreement for SharePoint Foundation 2010.
When I deploy code to the front-end of the Foundation service which directly modifies the code on the front-end to make the system do anything different out of the box, does this mean I have violated the code agreement.
For instance, using JQuery to manipulate the look and feel of a form, use third party tools like SPServices, attach SharePoint Designer workflows, modify the server end by using STSADM command line to turn features on and off, create and deploy site
collection features using Visual Studio, or create web parts?
Also, if I am using this software for business purposes of any kind, does it mean I need to purchase the software?
I have received a copy of Share Foundation along with a Server 2008 R2 OS which was purchased.
IF I use Foundation to run my business processes, am I in violation of the user agreement and do I need to purchase SharePoint Server 2010 with CALs?

The official answer: "I'm not a licensing person. Please contact Microsoft."
    In general:
Foundation is a "free" download, but can only be installed on Windows Server. You can install Foundation 2010 on Windows 7, but only for testing/development, not as a production server.
Foundation is "free" in that it is licensed as part of the Windows Server it is installed on.
If you have 500 users, then Windows Server will need to be licensed for 500 users. The Windows Server licensing will also depend on if the users are internal or on the internet.
SQL Server: If you are using SQL Express, then no license costs, but the number of SharePoint users may impact the licensing costs of your SQL Server.
The choice between Foundation vs. Standard or Enterprise is the list of features needed and scalability (how many users?).
"JQuery, SPServices, SharePoint Designer workflows, STSADM, Visual Studio..."
None of those will impact your licensing. Anything that you do to directly query or manipulate the SQL tables will impact your support. SharePoint is a platform and you are expected to configure and customize it.

  • License question for Flexbuilder 3

I am taking over on a small project and due to legacy purposes and customer requirements, we're still on Flexbuilder 3.  The previous developer left me the Flexbuilder 3 licence key, but when I go to use that key, apparently it's only an upgrade key from Flexbuilder 2. I don't have the original Flexbuilder 2 key.
Anyone know if I have any options to use my license short of having to buy a whole new one?  Upgrading to Flashbuilder 4.5 is definitely not an option at this point.

I doubt that there would be any problem with you using ARD to connect to a system owned by a family member. The terminology used in the license presumes that ARD is, as is most common, owned by a corporation or institution rather than an individual. But a lot of people use ARD to help family members and I've never heard of Apple protesting, so I think you'd be fine.
Note, though, that no one here can officially speak for Apple, so take our comments with that in mind.

  • Licensing question for apple support

Posting this here as I cannot find a support email address anywhere.
I have bought one batch of songs from itunes with the intent to convert them to mp3pro files. The official line seems to be Burn them to cd then rip them as if it's a store bought CD. Because I am working with 100 songs at a time this was a very tedious process. I found a piece of software that converted them from m4p directly to mp3 by playing them through my sound card and perfectly preserved the id3 tags. The tags btw were non existent using the burn method making the tedium exponentially worse.
I cannot find any wording in the apple licensing to prevent this but would like to know their official position.
These will never be shared or given away, the question is purely about one method vs another of reaching a common goal.

Simply put, it is possible but not practical to use an Apple TV with a standard definition TV. The long version:
Apple TV is designed for widescreen TV's, either ED (extended definition) or HD (high definition). However, it does support 480i (NTSC) & 576i (PAL) output formats, which are standard TV broadcast formats.
The problem is few standard TV's accept component inputs (the three cable, luminance & color difference signals the Apple TV outputs, not to be confused with the RGB component standard supported by some SCART TV's), so you generally would need a fairly expensive converter to make these signals compatible with a standard TV.
Even so, unless your TV has a high performance RGB or component input, or a DVI or at least VGA input, the results will be unacceptable, since composite or S-Video inputs of standard TV's lack the bandwidth necessary to display Apple TV's high resolution images without smearing, color fringing, & other visual artifacts.
Also, Apple TV cannot play DVD's -- it has no DVD player built-in & no support to display DVD's running on a host computer.
So, one alternative is to buy a video-capable iPod & a dock, which outputs standard definition video. This is more expensive than an Apple TV but probably not more expensive than one plus the converter you will likely need, & of course gives you a portable video device.
Another alternative is to buy a compatible display, which could be a widescreen computer monitor with a DVI input. You could also burn some of your content to CD's & DVD's & use them in an inexpensive DVD player along with a standard TV.

  • Important licensing question for Adobe CS6 Production Premium (Student-Licensing)

    Hello dear Community!
I have a very small film production and live in a flat share with students as my roommates. One of my associates is a good friend of mine and is also very interested in movie- and film-editing.
He also asked me what softwares are available for editing movies properly so I told him about Adobe and its products especially because of the fact that I'm looking forward to purchase a licence in the future. For now I'm editing in LightWorks (Free-Version).
The fact is that we realized that we would be able to afford the CS6 ProductionPremium-Suite Student-Edition together. He as a student would buy the product and us it as well. (http://www.adobe.com/education/products/creativesuite/production.edu.html?showEduReq=no)
    But the question is:
Could I (as a small signed business) also use this purchased product for my commercial business and works?
I'm really honest with this question.
Thank you guys for your answers!

  • Licensing question for managing web services within OC4J

I was wondering if there is a separate license cost to run/manage/secure web services running in OC4J under OAS 10g Enterprise Edition?
    thanks

The OC4J 10.1.3.4 release has moved the out of the box libraries OC4J supplies for JAX-RPC/WS into a named/versioned shared-library called "oracle.ws.jaxrpc".
This means you can now easily "unimport" these out of the box implementation from the view of an application, and replace them with newer implementations such as that provided by the Apache CXF distribution by publishing it as a corresponding shared-library and importing that into the application.
See the documentation for 10.1.3.4 which describes this: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12524_01/web.1013/e12290/opensrc.htm#BABDDAIF

  • Licensing question for MHP and HAVi

    Hi,
I'm reading license terms from DVB-MHP and HAVi web sites, but I'm not sure about who has to pay the license and royalties: set-top-box producers or developers?
    Regards,
    Marcos Henke from Brazil

Via Licensing (www.vialicensing.com) is the company that handles the licensing of the MHP patents on behalf of the patent holders.
The licensing situation in MHP is a complex one; STB manufacturers have to pay a per-box royalty, while broadcasters transmitting MHP applications also have to pay a fee in some cases. For the broadcasters, the fee depends on the number of subscribers, and whether or not the broadcaster is transmitting free-to-air MHP services or not.
http://www.vialicensing.com/licensing/MHP_fees.cfm gives details of the MHP licensing costs.
One place where you may get real world feedback on the process is the official MHP forum (http://www.mhp.org/forum/forum.xml)

  • Instant Client SQL*Plus License Question

Can anyone shed some light on a license question for me? (I know that most license questions are for Oracle Sales to handle, but this involves a supposedly free product.)
I want to use SQL*Plus with the Instant Client in a production environment, but I am not sure whether I am entitled to. Does Instant Client "support" SQL*Plus only in the sense that if I already own a license for SQL*Plus I can use it with the Instant Client, or is the Instant Client SQL*Plus package also truly free to deploy and use?
The download page has links to download a basic Instant Client, plus several optional packages, one of which is SQL*Plus. However, the FAQ does not tell me whether the optional packages (specifically SQL*Plus) is also free to deploy and use in a production environment, and I could not find any other helpful document.
The FAQ says that "Instant Client is FREE for anyone to use in a development or production environment." It also says immediately following that "Instant Client can be used to run your OCI, OCCI, Pro*C, JDBC, and ODBC applications without installing a full Oracle Client. In addition, Instant Client supports SQL*Plus." [emphasis mine]
I would appreciate any help on this.
    Thanks in advance,
    Anthony

Why don't you call Oracle sales? I guess they'll be happy to answer your question.

  • Lumira Server for BI Platform and Team/Edge consumption & licensing question

Hi.  I have a few questions.
    Question 1:
From my reading, I've heard that Lumira Edge/Team server may not be a part of BI-Suite License.  I read a Lumira Server ASUG Webcast recap by Tammy Powlas here (SAP Lumira Server for Teams Roadmap ASUG Webcast) over the weekend and one of the Q&A questions struck me:
Q: Is this included with the BI Suite license from SAP?
A: Lumira Server for Teams (Edge Edition) is not covered under BI Suite License. However, Lumira Server for BI Platform (RTC Planned in April) is covered under BI Suite licenses
In a separate conversation late 2014, I thought I'd heard that Lumira Team/Edge server was supposed to be usable by BI Suite licensed customers, but it sounds like I'm mistaken?
    Question 2:
Next, the second part of the statement gave me hope:
However, Lumira Server for BI Platform (RTC Planned in April) is covered under BI Suite licenses
I then looked at the Lumira Deployment Options for Departments Part 1 – ASUG Webcast by Tammy Powlas to get some more information on Lumira Server for BI Platform.  This slide gave me some hope (emphasis mine in green):
But then I see some more information a little later:
Is this slide to imply that the version without HANA (or HANA XS) for BI Platform will only really just serve as a user rights management and Lumira document repository?  And that if I want to view a Lumira document, I must still open from the Lumira Desktop client?
It was suggested I start a new discussion thread to ask this licensing question about a product that's not out yet (but the slide says it's GA so I'm still confused) so here I am with my discussion thread!
Hopefully someone can make me less confused.  I'm hoping the answer is as a BI-Suite customer that we do not have to make a decision to either invest in new Edge/Team licenses or buy HANA XS hardware to establish a beachhead of Lumira usage in our organization.  We've been struggling with promoting Lumira and the sharing piece has been the sore spot.

    Hi Michael
You are right, it is confusing...
I think it will be better to contact sales to get this explained as opposed to technical support people that monitor this SCN Space.
