CC Light Burst & CC Ball Action & CC Sphere

Hi,
I really need your help. I'm making a universal logo (from Maxafterhttp://maxafter.com/tuts/universalStudio/universal.html) on adobe after effects cs6
I used a black white earth map with CC BALL action, like this
When I precomposed it and added a CC Sphere to it, the balls catched shadows
like this:
and i was not able to add CC Light Burst to it, otherwise I got all those weird
white black streaks, instead of only white:
I have no idea what to do, Please help!

I moved the discussion from Forum Comments.
EDIT: just noticed that the user has started another thread, http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1029285?tstart=0 this one will be locked.

  • CC Light Burst 2.5 in CS5 problems

    Hi,
Im having problems with CC Light Burst 2.5 in CS5 version of After Effects.
I applied the effect to an image that has already had applied CC Sphere effect. The problem is that the rays from Light Burst end in a box shaped border. Looks like the size of the image is causing the problem. Precomposing the same image and then applying the effect didnt help, same result.
In CS3 this works normally, meaning the rays are not cut off by size of the image.
I would appreciate any help on this subject.
    Tnx.

I encountered the same problem in CS3 and found the solution.
Precomposing was done correctly so far, so that was not the issue.
The solution was to "check" the "continuously rasterize" option for the layer, on which the precomposed object is. (the little "sun" icon on the right of the layer name).
Im not sure if it works in CS5, am gonna check on the week days and get back.
Hope this saves some gray hair for someone.

  • A white light burst when "unlocking iphone with Touch ID" and "opening apps".

A white light burst occurring from the top left corner (near volume buttons) whenever i am unlocking it through the Touch iD and while opening any apps.

Title: Burst of White Light on iPhone 5S and iPhone 6
    Description:
On unlocking the device with Touch ID a burst of white light is produced from the Top Left/Right corners of the screen.
It happens when more than two folders are created i.e three/four folders each having some applications and the phone is locked while on the same screen.
If no folder or maximum two folders are created then no such burst is produced when unlocking with Touch ID.
    Steps to reproduce:
    1. Configure Touch ID
    2. Use Black/Dark wallpaper on Home & Lock Screen.
    3. Create minimum four folders either on the home screen or the second having some applications in each.
    4. Being on Home Screen lock the phone.
    5. Unlock with Touch ID and a Burst of White Light will appear on Top Left/Right Corner.
    6. Now move/drag two of the folders to the other second page.
    7. Go back to Home Screen and lock the phone.
    8. Unlock with Touch ID and there is no Burst of White Light.
                        OR
Repeat step 1 and 2 as listed above.
    1. Go to the second screen (after home screen) and create three or four folders with applications in it.
    2. Lock the iPhone while on the same screen.
    3. Unlock with Touch ID and there is a Burst of White Light.
    4. Now drag or remove the folders with only two left.
    5. Lock the iPhone while on the same screen.
    6. Unlock with Touch ID and there is no Burst of White Light.
NOTE: If iPhone is LOCKED and UNLOCKED when on the screen with no folders NO WHITE BURST is there.
    Problem Since:
Burst of White Light when apps added to a folder and unlocked with Touch ID. This is noticed since the update iOS 7.0.6 [11B651]
    Devices:
The burst of light on iPhone 5s is easily recognized but on iPhone 6 its for a fraction of a second. Not checked on iPhone 6+.

  • CC Ball Action stops working when I try to use a mask

Using AE CS6 on mac os 10.7.5.  I'm trying to use CC Ball action to make a cool particle animaation.  In order to do the animation I'm trying to create I need to use a mask.  Every time I use a mask the cc ball action stops working.  It's still in the timeline and shows to be visible but the image is unchanged.  Even if I delete the mask the effect remains invisible.  In order to get the effect to work again I have to delete it and re-apply it.

You are in the layer viewer and have to pick what to view in the pop-up in the right bottom corner...

  • Hi I'm new in this Ae and i loved it and started to get into editing but when i watch videos on how to use effects like magnify and CC light burst 2.5 it doesn't work why?

hi I'm new in this Ae and i loved it and started to get into editing but when i watch videos on how to use effects like magnify and CC light burst 2.5 it doesn't work why?

First, I want to clear up some vocabulary issues. After Effects is not intended for editing video. Editing involves cutting shots together to tell a story. Premiere Pro edits video. While you technically can cut video together in AE, Premiere is much, much better for that.
After Effects is used for creating shots - visual effects, compositing, motion graphics, animation, color correction, color grading, etc.
What exact version number of AE (down to the decimal points) are you using? Plus the questions Todd asked, plus the info in the link he gave.
Also, if you're new to AE, you should really start here. This resource will give you a foundation in how to actually use After Effects that will probably clear up your current problem and prevent much more frustration in the future.

  • Set up light-locker with XFCE action buttons.

Light-Locker is working with suspend and stuff, but how do I get it to use light-locker when I press the Lockscreen button. I hear it has something to do with xflock4, but I am not sure what.

The Xfce action buttons "lockscreen" command executes xflock4 to perform the lock screen action. Unfortunately, the xflock4 script that is shipped with Arch doesn't include an option to use the light-locker, so you'll need to either patch the file to include light-locker or use a workaround.
If light-locker is the only locker on your system that you use, you can for a single user:
    alias xflock4='light-locker-command -l"
...in your ~/.bashrc file, or for all users, create the file /usr/local/bin/xflock4 (to override the existing file) with the content:
    #!/bin/bash
    light-locker-command -l
...make sure the file is executable.
If you need to patch xflock4, edit the section that reads:
    # Lock by xscreensaver or gnome-screensaver, if a respective daemon is running
    for lock_cmd in \
    "xscreensaver-command -lock" \
    "gnome-screensaver-command --lock"
    do
    $lock_cmd >/dev/null 2>&1 && exit
    done
    ...to read:
    # Lock by light-locker, xscreensaver or gnome-screensaver, if a respective daemon is running
    for lock_cmd in \
    "light-locker-command -l"\
    "xscreensaver-command -lock" \
    "gnome-screensaver-command --lock"
    do
    $lock_cmd >/dev/null 2>&1 && exit
    done

  • Track Ball Lighting

I have noticed that the Pearl has downloadable programming to light the track ball.
Is this available for the Curve?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

The curve lacks the colored LED's underneath the trackball.  There is only white.  Some have used small pieces of tape and used a colored sharpie to color the tape.  Beyond that, there is no way to do it.

  • Sphere lighting problems

Hello, I am relatively new to Java3D and was unable to find an answer to my problem via a forum search, so I'll post it here:
I'm working on a program that is basically a Solor System simulator in which I have textured, spherical planets orbiting about a sun as well as rotating about their own axes. The scene is lit by a point source from the sun and a small amount of ambient light.
My problem is seen in the day/night breaks on the planets: they are very sharp, jagged and uneven, apparently just following the polygon edges, rather than being a nice, straight line. These breaks jump back and forth as the planets rotates and new polygons are lit, giving rise a a rather unrealistic sunrise.
Increasing the number of divisions in the sphere (I'm currently experimenting with 64 or 128) helps a bit, but it requires an unreasonably large number of divisions to get an acceptable appearance. Is there some way for me to fix this problem, perhaps there's a better method of generating normals of which I am not aware? Thank you very much.

Now with non-scrolling goodness, sorry :/
    Howdy,
I'm working on a very similar-sounding program. One thing you may want to try is setting the "shininess"
of the material that you put on the spheres you use on your planets. Here's a great reference:
    http://java.sun.com/developer/onlineTraining/java3d/j3d_tutorial_ch6.pdf
Check out the sample on the top of page 28. Also, am I the only one who thinks the term "shininess" is
funny? Shouldn't it be just "shine" or something?
I actually came to the forum looking for a solution for this solar system problem as well. In particular,
I created a point light at the center of a sphere (picturing it as a star or the sun). The light shines
on other spheres in the system, but doesn't shine on the surface of the sphere that encloses it. You get
something like a black hole that gives off light (there's no ambient lighting).
This behavior makes sense, but I can't think of a way to have that same light color shine as the surface
color of the (textured) sphere as well. Any suggestions?

  • Bright burst of flash of light and the screen is crashing does anyone know of this problem this problem?

When I switch between apps, when I switch between photos and when I sign into the phone after the LockCode entryI get a bright burst of light like an old-fashioned lightbulb flash between the apps and also when I turn on the iPhone the light burst is seen again after I enter the LockCode. My screens are now crashing if I'm working on a word document if I'm looking at a photo or whatever I'm doing it's like the screen just kicks me out and I have to restart the app or the project again. I have an iPhone 5.  These issues just started yesterday after I did the new upgrade for the iPhone. Has anyone heard of these problems before having to do with the new upgrade? Does anyone know how to resolve these issues or do they know if Apple is currently working on a fix them? Any information concerning his problems would be appreciated.
    Thank you, V

Somehow the iPod started the Assorized test and it is completed. Most likely due to a bad and dying battery which need to be replaced.
To get out of the screen, Just Reset the iPod - Press Menu and Center Button for about 10 secs till the Apple logo comes ON.
The diagnostic might trigger again, until you get  the iPod overhauled by Apple or 3rd party vendors.

  • How would you do this "star burst" tutorial but have transparent backgrounds when you're finished

I been playing around with this tutorial and have a really fun project to apply it to, but I really need a transparent background so I can use it on a couple different backgrounds.  I tried just selecting the backgrounds and snipping them out, but can't figure out how stop the gradient layer at top from filling the entire background. I also tried just flattening it and cutting it out.  Really neither of those solution make for anything that look slick.  Is there another way to do this tutorial or way to not have a background at the end?  I'm using Adobe Photoshop CS4, thanks.

    csuebele wrote:
Yes, Trevor is correct about the antlines.  They are only an average of the selection.  There are lots of ways to create burst effects like this.  You could smooth out the jagged lines with a slight radial blur.  The only problem with it is that you either have to have what you want to blur perfectly centered in you document, or attempt to guess where the center is in the very small dialog box.  With the above image, I use the angle gradient tool set to noise.  This give a wild multcolored gradient, which I then converted to B&W, adjusted the contrast, put in screen mode, and manually masked the areas I wanted.
Jack you have some great workflow ideas.  Using the gradient tool that way was new to me, but what a great tool to have in your virtual Photoshop toolbox.  I had to hunt for how to set the Angle gradient to noise, but these two links did the trick for me:

  • Need help with a light effect

    Hi All,
Im working with a scene in AE.  Its a wide shot of trees that have hanging lights in them.  The scene doesn't move for 10 seconds, and then it pans up to a black sky.
Basically what I want to achieve is an effect where lots of little lights burst of the lights in the trees and then move up (as the video pans up) to create a starry sky effect.
I know this probably wont be easy or a job for a beginner like myself but I wanted to ask here in case anybody knew of any "easy" way to do this.  I do have all the Red Giant plug ins and BCC7 I could use.  But am not sure if there is one specific plugin I should focus in on, or if there is a effect in AE to do this.
If anybody has any ideas, advice, or can even point me in the right direction id really appreciate it.
    Thanks!

    Hi Mylenium,
Thank You!  That Particle Playground example is exactly what Im looking for.  Are they any tutorials youre aware of that show you how to set it up?  This way I could figure out how to move the "lights"in the light layer to be on the actual light sources.  And then I assume I could just put an ajustment layer over it to make them look more like stars correct?
    Best-
    Eric

  • Beash ball woes revisited

Friends, I'm really suprised that I haven't had any replies to my post. I guess that this means that I've already done what everyone might suggest, or perhaps I should have posted in the Mini forvm.
If any of you have some thoughts or suggestions for me, I'd really appreciate your help.
    Jon
Friends, for the past few days, I've been getting the old beach ball, primarily in Safari and Mail - the apps I use the most. My mini acts like it is not accepting mouse input as there is often a lag before the click is processed. This is where I'm seeing the beach ball spin This is a new development. The mini has been been trouble free for two years and I've rarely seen the beach ball.
    Here's what I've done to attempt to remedy this situation;
Run all of the Cocktail utilities several times. (permissions, logs etc)
Checked the disk with disk utility. No problems found. Ran repair anyway.
Run the Apple Hardware test. No problems found.
Dumped the autofill info in Safari.
Dumped the Safari and Mail Plists.
Downloaded and reinstalled the Tiger 10.4.8 upgrade
reloaded the system from the install disk. This made the most difference. I did NOT do a clean install.
Downloaded all of the upgrades that I needed after the system install. Things got worse. This morning after all of the upgrades were loaded, the beach ball is back with a vengence. Strangely enough, I don't see much, if any, of the beach ball action when I'm using FireFox, but I DO see it in most other apps.
It sure looks like something that I upgraded last night is the culprit, so
I dumped the Quicktime plist. No help.
I looked at Java this morning. It appears that there is a version of the upgrade that will kick java to 1.5. I'm downloading it as we speak.
Short of a reformat and clean install, I don't know what more to do. I'm hesitant to do the clean install just because the dirty install I did seemed to help so much. I really don't want to chase my tail much more.
    I'll sure apprecitate your suggestions!
    Thanks,
    Jon

Be sure to select "All Processes"
We have an old iMac that that was infected by a similar malady, it appeared to be due to some daemon that was running. The daemon did not show up on any of our other Macs (4 in all), and we were unable to locate the offending executable on the Mac
Our final solution was to do a clean install of the OS.

  • CC Ball title

    Hi all,
I'm trying to create titles in a video using CC Ball animation, so that out of no where small balls randomly grow and form a image, i have created the 3D image in photoshop fine, All i would like to know is there any tutorials that you may know of that does this to bring balls randomly out of no where to form a title (the image)?
I really would like to have an electronic feel to the animation, maybe having a jittery/glitchy feel to it, do you know of ways to do this?
    Thanks all

Ball Action is not going to do that for you without advanced techniques. Ball Action tends to explode objects rather than assemble them so you need to know how to build the effect, precomp it, and then run it backwards by time reversing the comp. Ball Action is not very subtle. When you change the ball size and gride spacing you don't get smooth transitions. It depends on  weirdly incomprehensible adjustments for twisting along different combinations of axes in varying degrees. You can spend hours (I have) playing with these and never make ay sense of them (I can't).
I hope you will explore Ball Action, it's one of those great simulations that tends to get overlooked. But you may end up using Shatter and running it backwards using time reversal. Shatter's physics are deisnged to blow things up with explosive force so carefully ramping them to assemble something backwards is counterintuitive. I usually end up using both Forces to make that transition.
Ball Action is featured in prescious few tutorials. All you can do is hit YouTube and Vimeo and carefully search the AE clips. There are better tutorials at the usual AE support sites but only a few and they tend to be specialized.
Try to have fun with Ball Action.
