CC preferences resetting all on their own

Has anyone else ever experienced the occasional reset to defaults of Adobe software? Every few months to a couple times a year it seems like my Adobe software likes to reset itself. It's maddening and I can't figure out what or why it happens. It's done this since before CC. At the moment it's thrown in something new in that I have to launch every software as Administrator in order for it to recognize file type associations again. It fixes itself but it just drives me nuts that this happens in the first place.
I'm on Windows 7 Pro 64-bit and have not done anything recently as far as updates to the system software. About a month ago I upgraded to 2014 and it worked fine until this morning when I started working and now have to relink/reset Photoshop, Illustrator, AE, and Premeire.
Any help is appreciated.

Hi Teresa,
Sounds like you have some sticky keys, or a bad Keyboard.

BUt separate I'd for imessage, icloud and FaceTime.

  • Why are all of our devises running off of the same apple I.d .They all have their own account.

I don't know why three of our devices are running off of the same apple I.d.All three of the devices have there own ids but they are going under the same. Why???

Because that's the way you set them up. It doesn't happen by itself.
Odds are you plugged them all into the same computer logged in with the same account, with the same iTunes library, and restored them all from the same backup.
    Don't do that.

  • I have 2 iphones and 2 ipods, should they all have their own apple id

We have 2 iphones and 2 ipods in our family.  We are all sharing the same Apple ID.. I just realized today that all of the text messages I send are being seen by my children on their ipods.   How does that happen and how do I avoid this from happening.?

    Hi Friend,
If you want a quickly help, you can turn off iMessages in iPods and that's it (Settings>>Message). If not works properly, you can sign out iMessages in the iPods (Settings>>Message).
    Hope it will be helpful

  • External Harddrives disconnecting on their own

Ok, so, I've got this very goofy problem where I have 2 seperate external hard drives that disconnect themselves from the usb all on their own. So basically what happens is I'll be working and then get the error pop up to make sure I eject my external device blah blah blah.... Does any one know what is causing this? is it software or is there something royally messed up with my usb ports?
    thanks,
    James

I would first contact  Seagate's tech support for a possible solution. If that doesn't prove successful then I would try a different product or consider building your own.
    Basic Backup
Get an external drive at least equal in size to the internal hard drive and make (and maintain) a bootable clone/backup. You can make a bootable clone using the Restore option of Disk Utility. You can also make and maintain clones with good backup software. My personal recommendations are (order is not significant):
    Carbon Copy Cloner
    Data Backup
    Deja Vu
    Silver Keeper
    Retrospect
    Super Flexible File Synchronizer
    SuperDuper!
    Synchronize Pro! X
    Synk Pro
    Synk Standard
    Tri-Backup
Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on backup and restore.  Also read How to Back Up and Restore Your Files.
Although you can buy a complete external drive system, you can also put one together if you are so inclined.  It's relatively easy and only requires a Phillips head screwdriver (typically.)  You can purchase hard drives separately.  This gives you an opportunity to shop for the best prices on a hard drive of your choice.  Reliable brands include Seagate, Hitachi, Western Digital, Toshiba, and Fujitsu.  You can find reviews and benchmarks on many drives at Storage Review.
    Enclosures for FireWire and USB are readily available.  You can find only FireWire enclosures, only USB enclosures, and enclosures that feature multiple ports.  I would stress getting enclosures that use the Oxford chipsets especially for Firewire drives (911, 921, 922, for example.)  You can find enclosures at places such as;
    Cool Drives
    OWC
    WiebeTech
    Firewire Direct
    California Drives
    NewEgg
All you need do is remove a case cover, mount the hard drive in the enclosure and connect the cables, then re-attach the case cover.  Usually the only tool required is a small or medium Phillips screwdriver.

  • Preferences changing on their own

Preferences for applications and the sleep mode seem to be changing on their own. What am I looking for and how do I repair it?
It was first noticeable in QuickBooks Pro. The company file would stop reacting to entries and then when the application was restarted it could not find the file. All windows were reset to their default locations and sizes. Now the machine falls asleep during movies in FrontRow.

    Hi Donald,
It seems like 2 unrelated issues, if you did not attempt to rename your home folder?
For Sleep try trashing these prefs:
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systemuiserver.plist
    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.PowerManagement.plist and com.apple.AutoWake.plist
    The second sounds like LaunchServices:
Launch Terminal and copy & paste this at the command line:
    Code:
    <pre class="alt2" style="margin:0px; padding:3px; border:1px inset; width:640px; height:34px; overflow:auto">/System/Library/Frameworks/ApplicationServices.framework/\Frameworks/LaunchServi ces.framework/Support/lsregister \-kill -r -domain local -domain system -domain user</pre>
Then press return. After that, log out and back in or restart.

    CREATE A NEW USER
Go to System Preferences --> Create a New User in Users & Groups
Decide on whether to setup as Admin or Standard User.
Switch to the New User by logging out under the Apple in the Menu Bar or use Fast User Switching
Fast User Switching allows other users to leave current applications and windows open. Depending on RAM, you might need to log out rather than use FUS.

I got my iPhone 5 almost a month ago and updated its iOS but from there on I started having problems, the ph sometimes doesn't respond at all to the touch or apps start to open on their own very rapidly and this continues till it can go no further!

    First steps in troubleshooting:
Close all open apps by double-tapping the home button, then swiping up and off the screen with the app window (not the smaller icon).
Then reset: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until you see the apple, then let go. (No data loss)

  • Account Operators couldn't reset their own passwords

We have new admin accounts created for the L1 admins and they're supposed to have the ability to unlock accounts, reset user passwords, create, delete and modify groups and membership, manage print servers and add/remove computers to domain.
These admin accounts are part of Account Operators, Print Operators and another security group (delegated in OU level for managing the workstations in the domain like adding/removing).
    We're using Windows 2012 R2 Standard.
The issue is the new admin accounts have the ability to perform all their tasks other than resetting their own passwords. Appreciate your response on this as this is creepy and lingering for a week and still couldn't figure out the cause.

They can change their own passwords, but they can't reset them. It's a limitation of the group.
By default, that ability to reset (not change) a password, is reserved for the administrators group or a group delegated with the ability.

  • Is their a way to reset ALL default settings in PS CS6?

My 3D camera view is acting kooky when I go into 3D mode. It's like I'm underneath the text looking up at it, and no matter what settings I mess with I can not get the view that I want. Yes I have went to all the little drop down window and clicked on default view and I still get this same underneath view. It is really holding me up, I am intermidiate user so I' a little frustrated, can anyone help?Is their a way to reset ALL default settings in PS Cs6

There is Reset all tools and reset preferences.  To reset you Photoshop Preferences as you start Photoshop hold down Ctrt|CMD+Alt|OPT+Shift you should get a prompt about you preferences.  Somewhere in tools preset there are reset tool options.

  • Mail preferences not sticking and sometimes change on their own.

Maybe somebody else has seen this odd behavior. Here's the scoop:
I clean installed 10.5.1 yesterday on my Mac Mini(1.42GHz G4, 1GB RAM)and after setting up my admin account, I immediately grabbed the 10.5.2 through Software Update. This is my first taste of Leopard and so far so good.
Now that everything is updated, I started to configure Mail. I set up two IMAP accounts in Mail and specified certain preferences under Mailbox Behaviors. I unchecked all the boxes that had to do with storing things on the servers. Since my IMAP account quotas are fairly small, ~150MB, I don't want Mail storing anything on my company's servers. Saved the changes and started logging in to my accounts. Tested it out by sending a few messages and noticed my sent messages and deleted messages were being saved on the server. Back in to Mail preferences I go and I noticed that some of the check boxes under Mailbox Behaviors had checkmarks back in them. What gives? I didn't leave those boxes checked. Why had several of the checkmarks reappeared?
Anyways, I've toyed with this thing for hours. It's seems to be a random problem and I don't have any clue why it happens. I've even deleted my own com.apple.mail.plst file and Mail folder multiple times to start over from scratch. I always uncheck the "store xxx on the server" boxes, but occasionally Mail turns them back on. It's happened multiple times now, so I'm getting a little paranoid about it. The last time it happened, I found the "Store draft messages on the server" re-checked under one of the IMAP accounts.
Seems like Mail.app has a mind of its own. Any idea how to put a stop to it?

I've done some more testing and found out several things.
    1. It doesn't matter which of my IMAP accounts I configure Mail to access. I can reset Mail (by deleting my ~/Library/Mail folder and com.apple.mail.plist file) and then reconfigure my preferences for each IMAP sever. The problem still persists.
    2. It definitely is a 10.5.2 problem. I erased the HD and reinstalled 10.5.1 from DVD onto my PowerBook G4 and then ran Mail. Configured it to access my IMAP accounts and had not problems with it. It didn't reset my "Mailbox Behaviors" preferences at all. In fact, it worked the way it's supposed to. On to step 3.
    3. I then installed the 10.5.2 combo updater(dl'ed from Apple's support website) and ran Mail. With the previous accounts still configured, it didn't mess with my "Mailbox Behaviors" at all, but when I reset Mail (by dumping my Mail folder and prefs into the trash) and reconfigured it for my IMAP accounts, the problem came back.
    4. With a fresh reset of my Mail preferences in 10.5.2, the very first email I send cannot be found in any folder until I quit out of Mail and then come back in. Checking my "Mailbox Behavior" prefs, I see that Mail has decided to put the check mark back in the "Store Sent Messages on the Server". That's not the way I set it up in the begining. This weird behviors repeats itself on the first draft message I save and the first email message I delete out of my Inbox. Mail always causes the first draft and deleted message to disappear until I quit and come back in. The "Mailbox Bevaior" prefs also get reset for storing drafts and deleted messages on the server.
So there we have it. Many hours spent on this thing. If others want to try it out in 10.5.2, just move your Mail folder and plst file out of your home folder temporarily and re-run Mail. Put your settings in, uncheck a few boxes under "Mailbox Behaviors" and see if Mail starts messing up.
I guess I'll be waiting for this problem to be resolved in 10.5.3. Until then, its back to 10.5.1 for me.

  • 2 computers, 5 family members with their own iTunes accounts. How do we share purchased iTunes and downloaded CDs with homeshare? (I can't get my old iPod music to all go onto my iPad)

    I have 2 computers - Windows Based
My husband, myself and the kids all have our own "accounts" on the home computer. This was done to limit certain access when the kids were younger.
The laptop is pretty much mine. I use both computers for my iTunes music.
Everyone has their own iTunes account for their music and games. I have been able to get music purchased by my other family members on my iPod in the past if I logged in the home computer under their IDs and attached my iPod. Or, if a family member downloaded a CD, I could get that music thes same way without having to download the CD again under my own login ID. However, I now have an iPad, and I can't transfer music from the iPod to the iPad - specifically that which was downloaded from CDs - not iTunes. And I couldn't get it to go from my iPod to my laptop, although both are authorized computers in the Home Sharing.
It doesn't seem like the Home Sharing works with the different computer login IDs. The iTunes is universally available regardless of who is logged in, but the libraries vary based on who's user name you are under. I have strugged with importing from one User ID to another, which led me to simply log in under a different family member to get the desired music. There has got to be an easier answer and I'm just not figuring it out.
I've read the support answers, I've read many of the other responses here as well to those with similiar questions, but I am still struggling.
    Any suggestions?

If you are completely confident that you didn't hide it, then you purchased those with different apple id. If you completely confident that you purchases with same apple id then you have hidden it. One of the other or you are speaking about a miracle. While miracles are possible they are not very likely. Remember

  • How should I give itunes autonomy to my children now that they are in high school and have used my Mac and my itunes account to buy music for years, including all gift cards given to them. They now both have their own computers.

When my children were younger, and needed more help and oversight, I had them purchase songs with my permission, often with gift cards that they had been given on various occaisions. Now, however, they both have laptops, they would like to split out "their" music and books, sync their Itouches to their own system, and I would love to have 9000 less Taylor Swift songs stored on my hard drive. Also, it seems that I can't set up independent Itunes accounts for them without a credit card, however they both get gift cards several times a year. A suggestion for this? It must happen to a lot of families. Thanks.

Unfortunately you cannot split (nor merge) items purchased with an AppleID.  I am not clear on what you will have to do to allow them continued access to their music on your account.  Apple no longer has DRM protection in its music but then I also hear people have all kinds of authorization issues when trying to synch so it sounds like they still keep restrictions on what you can do with the music when trying to move it about.  I'll let somebody more experienced with syncing answer this part.  You may have to authorize their computers and devices to your AppleID to allow them all functionality with the music.
Ideally you would have set them up with their own AppleIDs years ago but...
Creating an iTunes Store, App Store, iBookstore, and Mac App Store account without a credit card - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2534 - only works for new accounts!

  • We are using one apple ID and password for 5 devices. I would like to know how to give my children their own apple ID to use on their I touches. Can I do this without them loosing all their contact details, music and games? Any help much appreciated.

We Have set up 5 differNet apple devices ( iPhones, I touches and iPad) so that they all use the same apple I'd and password. I would now like to give each family member their own apple I'd and password. Can I do this without loosing any of the data on each persons gadget? Thanks!

I think I will do this.  I will use my apple ID and set face time and message to work independently.  That solves one problrem.  My other problem and maybe my bigger problem is that if I am using my apple ID, how do I iflter all of this so that my kids don't see my contacts, get my apps, etc. ?
