CC Swiper with new iPhone OS?

Does anyone have any kind of idea when we'll see a credit card swiper come to market for the iPhone? I know that previously a swiper was not possible, but my understanding is that with the iPhone OS 3.0 that it's possible to have things like credit card swipers communicate with the phone. I have seen a few news stories on the guy who started twitter coming out with some kind of iPhone CC setup dubbed "Squirrel".
I'm just wondering if anyone knows of anything that is on the market now or will be on the market soon. I have a big trade show in August and if I could use this instead of an uber-expensive credit card swiper, I will. The expensive credit card machines do essentially the same thing (send the encrypted cc info over a cell signal). If I can buy a $50 swiper and use the cell contract I already have instead of buying a $800 machine and adding another monthly contract that'd be pretty sweet. Thanks for any input!

How long? not sure however looking for the same info as yourself, I did find another company out there working on the iphone cc device, they are currently in Alpha testing. How long, no clue but the progress and interest in the solution looks promising. The one I found is called Square iPhone Payment System, i believe the name Square is just a temp project name though.

I am unable to join my own wifi network with new iphone 5. It has the latest software downloaded too. Keeps saying unable to join network after I type in the password. All my other devices are able to join but just not the iphone. I've called Verizon and my internet provider and they have been unable to help. Try power-cycling your router (unplug for 15 seconds, then plug back in), then on your phone go to Settings>General>Reset and tap Reset Network Settings, and try joining your network again. Note: resetting network settings will erase passwords for previously joined networks on your phone.

When you say it doesn't detect the network - is that under "Settings->Wi-Fi"? It doesn't show your network at all?
This may sound like a stupid question but since I've learned never to leave any stone unturned - you don't have your SSID set to "hidden" do you?

Thanks for your reply. Unfurtunately is didnt work. I did follow the part with reseting Isync and so on... But it still doent sync my Iphone info to the Icalender. The problem is that if I reset/restore my Iphone
I´ll loose a lot of important appointments and phone numbers. Can I restore it and the use the backup from Itunes - and will this fix the problem?

Any navigation app compatible with new iPhone 4G?

I am a newbie and I was looking appstore via my PC.
I would like to purchase some navigation app (tomtom, navigon, iGo or Sygic) but
could you tell me are these compatible with new iPhone 4G? I can see that some of those are tested with new iOS4(with iPhone3GS) but how about HW?
Is there possibility to purchase incompatible sw via mobile store app?

All apps that are compatible with previous iPhone models are compatible with the iPhone 4. This isn't the fragmented Android app market or the app market for any other device.
An app that is compatible with iOS 3.x is compatible with iOS 4.x. If a GPS voice navigation app hasn't been updated with iOS4 to be able to run in the background, the app won't run in the background with iOS4, but it will run as it runs on iOS 3.x.

Problems Using Viber with new iPhone 4S

When I try and use VIber with my new iPhone is says push notifications are not enabled, even though I've enabled them. I've also tried deleting and reinstalling viber several times, along with restarting the phone. Is anyone else having the same problem and does anyone have any suggestions of something else I could do?

I think you will have to do a complete restore--you will lose any info added since last backup. Connect phone to computer, select it in souce list. Next, click on Summary tab, click Restore. In the next dialog box, click Restore--your phone will be erased and the latest software will be installed. Click agree to terms and phone will restart. Then you will see the phone setup screen--click on Restore from Backup and select the most recent backup. Obviously, this will only work if you have a backup on the computer. If not, check Set up as New Phone, click continue, then wait for the process to finish.

Guys, its not that easy. When you answer questions here, please imagine that some individuals may be new to apple, itunes, and its never just as easy as "select what you want. Explain how to get to the settings you are telling them to use, and step by step help... If they wanted a simple answer they wouldn't spend the time to get on here and ask.

Mail exchange problem with new iphone

My home button stopped working so I went to the store and got myself a new iphone under warranty (Thanks apple).
It is running version 4.3.4
Anyhow, when I got home and restore from backup, everything works beautifully. However, the only problem is that I can't sync my hotmail using exchange. My Gmail is set under exchange as well and it works fine.
I have tried the following but it didn't work

I deleted and re-entered the account info, though everything are 100% correct, I still getting the "Unable to verify account info.". If I save the profile and open "mail" the message "Cannot Get Mail" would pop up
Re-formating the phone doesn't work either
I installed EAS Default task timeout profile, which I found online and it didn't work either

Required service agreement with new iPhone?

Can I get the new iPhone in the states and use it in Costa Rica?
I have been loyal and stuck with Apple even though the program costs were prohibitive. Since the iPhone came out I have wanted to get one but the cost was too high. I now live in Costa Rica and my family of four has a very low income. I was very excited to learn that the new iPhone 3G comes out just in time for our annual trip to the states. The price is finally affordable! Here's my problem, I keep hearing that the next model must be unlocked at the store and requires you to sign up for a cell service. I can't do this.The only cell service in Costa Rica is with the ICE monopoly. CR signed a free trade agreement with the US last October which should allow outside cell service providers to offer service here. In the mean time I will be in California with the opportunity to buy an iPhone 3G. I have searched the internet to see if the new iPhone will even work in Costa Rica and I can't find any information. iPhones are sold at the Apple stores here for three times the price in the US. I just up graded to the newest MacBook Pro.
If Apple is actually requiring customers to sign up with a cell service there it is totally unreasonable. I have been a Mac User since the very first Macs with the green screens came out. If I added up the money I have scraped together over the years to spend at Apple it would be a small fortune. A required service plan would be an injustice to the very people who have made the company a success, loyal consumers! If I am required to sign up for cell service I will just have the buy a simmalar phone from another company.

You have to sign up for AT&T service. The iphone would have to be hacked to work on another network. This would void the warranty, not allow you to update the iphone, may render it useless, and cannot be discussed on this forum - as per the terms of use of this forum.

Unable to sync microsoft outlook contacts (2003 xp) with new Iphone

I'm seeking (desperate) help with syncing my microsoft outlook contact with my new iphone. I love the phone, but it is going back to the store if I can't figure this out! NO problem at all on email or any other function, but calendar and contacts fail every time stating "Microsoft Outlook has encountered a problem and must close". I've tried removing and reloading the software. I've tried downloading ActiveSync 4.5 from Microsoft. Nothing works. I even read thru these notes and enabled itunes from the 'about microsoft menu'. I'm stranded!

First of all, welcome to the club. Syncing contacts and calendars is at the top of the list of problems. What version of iTunes are you using? Have you upgraded the iPhone to firmware version 1.1.1? Unless you have a Windows Mobile device to sync with the computer, uninstall ActiveSync, as the iPhone syncs by using iTunes only. Disconnect the phone and close iTunes, and run Outlook by itself to be sure it is stable. Did you ever get the error message before you first tried to sync with your iPhone? Open the Windows task manager and make sure that you don't have multiple copies of Outlook running. Do you see Outlook as a sync option in the Outlook "Info" tab? Have you checked the "radio button" for Contacts and pulled down the menu to select Outlook? Is Outlook showing as the program with which to sync under the Calendar area? I've gotten Outlook to sync with my "unsupported" version of Outlook XP, so it will work with 2003, although it may required the same fix.

Cannot Sync iTunes 10.6.3 (iMac PPc OsX 10.5.8) with new iPhone 5s

Recently purchased an iPhone 5s. When I connected the phone via USB, an error message popped up saying "iTunes cannot recognize "iPhone". Update to iTunes 11."
I cannot update to iTunes 11. My computer is an iMac Power PC G5. It's operating system is OSX 10.5.8. The iTunes I have on this computer is iTunes 10.6.3. When I select "Update", I get a message that iTunes is up to date.
I can't do "Sync with iTunes over Wi-Fi." It requires OSX 10.6.8.
Does anyone out there have any suggestions/alternatives on how I can transfer my music and photo albums to my new phone.
Right now, purchasing a new computer is not in the plans.

Your PPC Mac is not compatible with the iPhone 5s. Basically they're from two different OS worlds.

Migrating Applications from Windows to Mac with new iPhone

My original first gen iPhone died a horrible death a few months ago. I had always synced it to my Windows laptop. I just recently acquired a new iPhone and want to sync it instead to my iMac. However, I have a dozen or so iPhone applications that I still want and I cannot figure out how to migrate the applications that are recognized by iTunes on my Windows machine and transfer them to my iMac. I even attempted to download an application I already purchased from my iMac, and I was charged the fee for the iPhone application instead of it just recognizing i had previously purchased the application.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Restoring in iTunes for Mac will erase and reformat the iPod's hard drive, reload the software with the mac version and put it back to default settings. Press Done and the iPod will appear in iTunes and start to sync. If you want to update manually or using selected playlists uncheck the box beside the sync automatically instruction and press Done, it will default to manual mode and you can choose whatever setting you like: Restoring iPod to factory settings with iTunes
