CC2014 is an entirely different installation of Premiere.  Why?

When I first signed up for CC, the idea was that it would be the end of fragmentation because it would be one, constantly-updated program.  It would allow the Adobe devs to only have to support one piece of software, and constantly work on improving it.  No longer would I have to keep multiple installations of slightly different versions of Premiere.  I also wouldn't have to deal with missing plugins and effects every time I updated.  I was completely on board with the concept.
Now, with this new update, we're being asked to install an entirely separate program.  Why?  Is the codebase that much different that you can't just install the updates over the previous version?
I now have four different versions of Premiere on my machine from CS5.5 to CC2014!
Does this mean Adobe will drop support for the previous "CC" version of Premiere?  Will projects created in CC2014 be backwards-compatible with the original CC?  Will third-party plugins have to be updated to work with the new version of Premiere?

Here's a response you can check out: Installing the 2014 Release of Creative Cloud « Julieanne Kost's Blog

Of course we will still support Premiere Pro CC.

No.

Some will. You'll have to check with your plug-ins manufacturers. You will have to reinstall plug-ins into Premiere Pro CC 2014.

  • Premiere Elements is trying to open an entirely different program!!?!?!

I installed Elements and when I try to open it, it crashes almost immediately. I can get to the "welcome" screen but when I click on "new project" I can see that it it tries to open an entirely different and unrelated program called Amplitube X-Gear (this is a program by IK Multimedia and is made for guitarists). How the hell is this happening and what can I do to get Elements to stop trying to open something it has no business trying to open?

I would anticipate that this other program has seized the File Association for some of the file types, that are normally associated with PrE. File Associations can be adjusted from Control Panel>Folder Options>File Type (or similar syntax, depending on one's OS) in Windows.
Many programs, upon installation will go into the File Associations section and just set all possible file types to point to it. Apple's QT Player used to be bad at this, and Real Player still seems to do the same. I always do a custom install of any program, and will only let them associate with executables, and not media file types, unless they use a proprietary file type for their output, or for their sessions/Projects.
    What OS are you using?
Happy New Year and welcome to the forum,

I bought  my MacBook Pro in 2010. This is the first Mac I have owned and recently it is having some difficulty loading we pages, often timing out. This Mac environment is entirely different for me and I am not sure where to begin troubleshooting and/ or clean-up. I have moderate computer skills and try not to download or access questionable material, however recently I visited the Ap Store and purchased a couple of different aps to use in record keeping and for making a flyer. I am not even sure how to remove these programs to see if it helps.
Any tips or tricks are appreciated.
    Thank you!

Time to see about the PRAM battery.
By the way iOS and OS X are different systems.
iOS is the operating system for iPads, iPhones, and iPod touch.
Mac OS X is the operating system for Mac labelled computers.

  • Where can I find the full installer for Premiere 7.2.2?

Anybody know where I can find the full installer for Premiere 7.2.2? As detailed here, we can't get any of our CC apps to update, either via AAM, or by downloading and running the patch files. The "direct download link" provided by one of the commenters in the thread doesn't actually work; I get a "you do not have permission to access the file" message.
I would like to uninstall Premiere and reinstall the most up-to-date version of it.

    This might help.

  • Number Lock gives entirely different commands

When using my number lock and or the number pad on my wireless keyboard my computer is receiveing an entirely different set of commands. For example, when in Excel and I use the number lock to hit number different cells get selected. The plus, minus, decimal, all work in excel but no numbers!!!
I ran the disk utility and that did not fix it...Any ideas?

  • Different installation location?

I'm trying to install Ps How do I select a different installation location for the program? I don't have enough space on my C: partition. So I need to change the location for the program

If you are installing Photoshop CC, then try below steps
Open Creative Could App, Click Gear icon on the top right corner and open preferences.
Then click Apps tab on preferences, you will be able to locate the option.

  • Why would this query return an error that mentions an entirely different database being offline?

Trying to get a list of fragmented indexes based on a database name.  However,
    SELECT COUNT(*) AS TableFragOver80PctCount
FROM sys.dm_db_index_physical_stats (null, null, null, null, null )as ts
    INNER JOIN sys.tables t on t.[object_id] = ts.[object_id]
    INNER JOIN sys.indexes i on i.[object_id] = ts.[object_id]
    INNER JOIN sys.databases db ON ts.database_id = db.database_id
WHERE db.name = 'MY DB NAME'
    AND ts.avg_fragmentation_in_percent > 80.00
    The error I get back
    Msg 942, Level 14, State 4, Line 1
Database 'VERY DIFFERENT DB' cannot be opened because it is offline.
I know there is a database on this server that is offline, actually 2 or 3, but not the one Im trying to get information about.  What could cause the above query to have trouble getting index info that is caused by an entirely different database being
    offline?

FROM sys.dm_db_index_physical_stats (null, null, null, null, null )as ts
    See MSDN sys.dm_db_index_physical_stats
;  the first parameter is the database id; if you pass NULL as here, then all databases will be scanned, also your offline one.

  • Pls Help! Drag and Drop problem, identical symbols acting differently - same code! WHY?

In the attached file, I have a series of symbols that have a drag and drop command to change colour at different sections of a bullseye, and that are also text editable (html).
However, some of the symbols get stuck and will not be moved after moving once or at all, and some get stuck once their text has been edited.
I have poured over the code and it appears to be the same for each symbol - can anyone explain as to why this is happening?
I also cannot now edit the text properly on the ipad (it is really fiddly to change between different symbols to edit their text -- is there maybe a better way to do this? A button to change between symbols to then edit their text, can you help with this too?)
    THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

  • Premiere Pro CC2014 freezes the entire system

New Mac Pro - late 2013
    PP CC 2014
    OS 10.9.3
Recent convert from FCP7.  Basically can't get any work done.  PP hangs up and causes the entire machine to hang up, requiring a hard restart.  This sometimes happens as previews are being loaded, sometimes when doing actual work, somethings when just moving the playhead around.  Working with Red footage from 4-6k.  I have trashed prefs multiple times and followed the 13 step process regarding sharing and permissions posted here and on Cow.  I have unplugged every peripheral device except for the monitors and a 24TB Pegasus.  Sometimes the machine will be stable for a bit, sometimes it hangs as soon as it is opened.  Getting in 15 minutes of uninterrupted work is a reason to celebrate.  Appreciate your help.

I too recently converted from FCP to Premiere. I was using the the previous version of Premiere Pro CC and it worked great! When I update to Premiere Pro CC 2014, it started crashing routinely. I'm on a Win7 machine with no plug in's and 2014 has not worked on it. I went back to the previous version and all is well .If you are under the gun and need to get some serious work done, I  recommend uninstalling 2014 and downloading the previous version of Premiere.

  • How many installs of Premiere are allowed?

Does any body up to how many different computers you are allowed to install a licensed copy of Premiere CS3?
I have a desktop and a laptop that I'd like to install the software on. Will it work?

There are provisions in the license agreement for you to have your program on two computers at any one time, such as a desktop and a laptop at the same time. They will activate just fine. The idea is, though, that you should only have one version open at any one time.
As one wag on this forum pointed out there isn't any way Adobe can know if you're using the same application on different computers at the same time (at least not that we know about), but it comes down to your ethical position as to whether you wish to be bound by the legal agreement you made on installation.
In your situation though, have at it!

  • Different installation number sent from satellite system

Hi there, I have a strange one. When I create a Support Desk Message in the satellite system, the message is correctly created in Solman Service Desk, but the installation number sent is different than the installation number displayed in SLICENSE (for sat. system). This totally stuffs up my iBase & Partner determination. Any ideas as to why the installation number is being sent wrongly?

    Hi,
check your Installation Number and other details, in <b>SMSY, Message Source, Data Source</b>.
    Hope this solves your problem.
    Feel free to revert back.
