CCM and CMC suddenly disagree about a specific server's state

Hello,
My version is XI R2 SP1, with 3 windows hosts :
H1 for CMS
H2 for tomcat
H3 for all other servers, like report and job servers
My platform works mainly properly, but from time to time, CMC shows the webi report servers as red.
It becomes impossible to view reports thru infoview ("could not initialize report engine server (Error RWI 00226) (error : INF)")
Yet, CCM and windows service manager on H3 still say that this service is up.
Each time this happen, event viewer on H1 shows this warning : "Unable to contact server H3.Web_IntelligenceReportServer.webiserver to change its enabled status. Please restart it."
I haven't seen any other message at the same time elsewhere.
It looks like as if the CMS suddenly lost the real state of this server.
Starting it again thru CMC is also impossible : it says "service has already the state requested", which is true... But CMC still shows it as red.
The only way to solve this is to stop/start the service thru CCM.
It always works, but it's a manual operation, and I would like to fix this so that user never have "INF" errors...

Hi Francois,
i saw this behavior also a few times. Mainly on Platforms with an very old SP status like yours (SP1). The latest SP for XIR2 is SP5.
Maybe you try to upgrade to SP5 on your dev. environment first to check if all still works and your Problem is also solved.

    By the way...I sort of understand that HTP can change the colour range and the exposure  ( I think !! ) , but why does it soften the sharpness ?

    We had created User-defined Explorer watches on our environments and have run into issues.
    Have received many false alerts even though Explorer servers are running fine.
    After creating an AGS case it was informed to us that Explorer does not have monitoring capabilities.
    AGS is checking with solution architect of Explorer application about when the monitoring watches for explorer would be included.

    The lack of this feature is an inexcusable oversight for an enterprise management product.  They have some serious lightweights making design decisions on the SCOM team. 5 thumbs down. 
    BTW the answer is probably LOTS of stuff. Literally 100's of workflows are running on any server. 
    The following OpsMgr DB query will list all running monitors on a server. Change the name of @srv. I think this works pretty well.  I'd like some feedback if something is missing.

    We have Central instance with 3 j2ee server processes running. One of the server process has issues, needs restart . I tried with SMICM and JCMON to restart only a specific server process. I could not try all options in production instance. Is it possible to restart only affected server process instead of entire j2ee server.?
    This is needed as users may be using other 2 server processes anytime.
    Visual admin does not show, this server process as it has issues.

    Hi Raj,
    You could restart a server process with JCMON.
    Choose local instance and then choose restart a process and enter the id of the server node that you want to restart.

    It really isn't a well thought out 'gesture' when a normal scroll action can result in an unwanted zoom but disabling SmartZoom wasn't an option for me—one of those with eyes that tire easily when reading very small text on a 27" display.
    For a while I used command-+ and command-'-' to read small text but that isn't supported in some apps and for Safari it often leaves the browser in an less than perfect state when moving to the next page.  I also tried option scroll to zoom the whole display but that was not desirable, either.
    I finally settled on leaving SmartZoom enabled and remembering to double tap with one finger whenever the undesired zoom happens. It happens so often that the double tap is almost a reflex action for me.

    Restart the computer and immediately hold the Option key down.
    Select the Recovery partition and continue.
    On the next pane, select Disk Utility and continue.
    When DU opens, select your hard drive in the left column, click the First Aid tab, the click Repair Disk.
    When that is done, quit DU and restart in the usual way.

    Connect iPhone to Wall Charger and Reset, hold both home and power buttons until the iPhone begins to start, this can take about 20 seconds of holding both buttons. If nothing, this means your iPhone has a hardware fault, most likely and hopefully battery.

  • IiTunes and iPad disagree about memory use

    So, my iPad Air is nearing its capacity. The problem is that iTunes (11.2.2) and Settings->General->Usage disagree about how the storage is being used. Besides the usual "Other" nonsense, iTunes is telling me that videos are taking up 8.8 GB of storage, but the iPad says are only 1.7 GB. I deleted the two videos I could find, and now the iPad says I'm using 841MB for videos (which I can't find anywhere), but iTunes (after re-syncing) still says 8.8 GB for three items. I ejected and reattached the iPad—still the same.
    Is there any way of recovering this space woithout doing a clean restore of the iPad? And, dear Apple: You need to get your memory management together so that I don't have to do a clean restore every couple of months. I mean, sheesh.
    UPDATE: Found a movie that iTunes thought it was supposed to sync. 841MB. Yay. Unchecked it, resync'd. Now, iTunes says videos is down to...841MB. But, "Other" has exploded to 11.5 GB.

    Have you tried a reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider if it appears), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • Internet is connected and majority of the websites work, yet sometimes the pictures are not loading? And the suddenly the hole page won't load? The weirdest thing is I go venture off to another website and it'll work just fine??

    So I have been having this very annoying problem with the loading of certain internet sites e.g - Ebay, google maps, google in general & you tube.
    My internet connection is fine and i have spoken with my service provider TPG and Apple about this annoying issue.
    I can be generally browsing on google for instance and then suddenly the page freezes? No matter how many times i click the Refresh tab it still manages to do the same thing. Now the most confusing bit is, instead of clicking the refresh button I then venture off to Yahoo for instance and that website will work just fine??
    Ugh, another (now) consistant issue is that none of my pictures are loading when im on Ebay? yet i can browse every catagory just fine....?
    Please, if there is anyone out there HELP ME.... I'm a Mechanical Technician (Fitter by Trade) I do not class myself as a Computer Technician.... Far from it!!

    You're correct about the steps you mentioned earlier.  Tho Unfortunetely I've tried these things. Infact I was on the phone with applecare last night for about an hr & a half, yet even they seem stunned as to what is causing this?
    We reset the safari in a different way as you mentioned earlier (I would not have been able to do this without some Technical assistance)
    Open Finder >  click on the GO tab > Hold down the OPT key & a tab will appear that reads [Libary]
    Click on Libary > Now look for a folder that reads [Safari]
    Drag this folder to the desktop
    Now open the folder that reads [Preferances]
    Look for files: com.apple.safari.plist & com.apple.Safari.RSS.plist
    Now quit any programs operating & restart the computer.
    Vwallaa Safari is officailly reset, it will even take you on a tour when you open it for the first time.
    Now the catch is.... this didnt work "For me"  So My next step was to make a dummy account on my Mac (making sure that it had administrator rights) I then tried it on the dummy account. Luck would have it as it still managed to do the same thing.
    Apple came to the conclusion that restoring Lion might be a possible solution. So we done just that, wasnt till this morning when i turned on this annoying Mac i realised that it is still doing the same thing.
    Apple care is going to call me this afternoon so hopefully "fingers crossed" this issue can be fixed.

    without more information, I assume you mean a blackout from sleep issue.
    Go to system preferences > energy settings > raise the "turn display off" setting up to as needed, say 5 mins. or 10 mins.
    AND ...
    unchecked the "Put hard disks to sleep when possible" in both the battery and power adapter tabs.
    test it and check back
