CCMS and Sneak Preview

We have both ABAP (NSP) and J2EE (J2E) sneak preview installed on a common laptop.
In setting up CCMS tests using NSP as the CEN system, we got a failure when registereing J2E as a monitored system from the Visual Administrator.
The error occurs because an RFC (SALS_GET_LOCAL_MS_INFO) fails when calling NSP.  The message is "cannot get version".
This makes me wonder if such CCMS testing is valid with the sneak preview version.
Anybody get CCMS monitoring working between the ABAP and J2EE sneak preview version?
TIA!

Hi Marcus,
Please make sure that:
1. System alias is defined.
2. User mapping is defined for that alias and you use the same use in Visual Composer Story Board.
3. You have installed the latest SDAs from patch 2 on the portal side.

  • Error while installing Sneak preview Netweaver 2004 --SP15 on WindowsXP+SP1

hi, i'm getting a error while installing the Sneak preview NetWeaver 2004-SP15 on Windows XP + SP1.
    error message: Corrupt GZip trailer
    JDK version: 1.4.2_08 and 1.4.2_09

I faced this problem while I was installation.
Following are my installation's step, is there any problem?
    1.I have a new system just for installation, it is WindowsXP + SP1(2.5G memory and 2 CPU);
    2.download JDk 1.4.2_09 from sun.com and installed it;
3.download Sneak preview Netweaver2004SP15 from sdn.sap.com. There are 3 files total.
      Two are NW04SneakPreviewSP15.rar, the other is DeveloperStudioSP15.rar;
    4.uncompressed NW04SneakPreviewSP15.rar. I used winrar, it's OK.
5.start install NW04SneakPreviewSP15.rar step by step according to the installation guid.

I also tried jdk1.4.2_08 and I also installed in Windows2000+SP4. But I faced the same problem too.
From sun.com, I know this error is a bug of jdk. They explained that this version can't run OK
    when zip-file is larger than 2G. Then I found here's a file
    (name is 'NW04SneakPreviewSP15NWSneakPreviewSP15SneakPreviewContentSDMSDMKIT.JAR'). It's size
is 2.08G. I suppose installation can't manage it.
I tried unzip this file and renamed unziped folder to 'SDMKIT.JAR'.
Then I found another large file in the unziped folder(name is 'F:NW04SneakPreviewSP15NWSneakPreviewSP15SneakPreviewContentSDMSDMKIT.JARpackpackedRoot.jar')
, so I also unzip this file and renamed unziped folder to 'packedRoot.jar'.
Then I reinstalled, of course, It's no work.
Unexpectedly, I found this download link is not available on the sdn.sap.com(see this page:https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/downloaditem?rid=/library/uuid/cfc19866-0401-0010-35b2-dc8158247fb6).
It say that 'We apologize that this version is currently not available to download.'.
I guess there are any problem in this version, are there?
So, now I think I must download another version to install.
    Thanks,
    Bo

  • [Demo] Differences between IDES, Sneak Preview, ES Discovery Systems

    Hi,
It has become quite complicated to navigate between all the demo systems
<i>As shown in this post, for instance
    https://forums.sdn.sap.com/click.jspa?searchID=835708&messageID=2043010</i>
<i>Have also a look at this thread:
    Downloading IDES software
There is major problems I think, knowing:
    - <b>what exactly are the functionalities</b> (and consequently, what audience is targeted) provided by Sneak Preview (SDN), IDES systems (through Software Catalog), ES Discovery systems (I am sure I am missing some of them).
<i>  For instance, IDES offer functional modules and Sneak preview doesn't</i>
    - <b>what level of partnership is needed</b> (none [for instance for products available in the SDN Download section] to get those sustems, SAP Partner for IDES, SAP Global Partner for Software Catalog)
    - <b>what is the trial period</b> (if any) : is it possible to renew the license, if yes for how long...
If I have made mistakes, feel free to correct me, that's the whole point of this post.
I think a blog or a Wiki could help hundreds of people !
    Best regards,

IDES contains a complete ERP with data of a fake company (IDES), as otherwise you had to spend weeks to implement this to do any useful things in an ERP.
    > - <b>what level of partnership is needed</b> (none
    > [for instance for products available in the SDN

All SDN downloads only need SDN membership, which is available to anybody signing up.
    > for IDES, SAP Global Partner for Software Catalog)
IDES is only available to customers and partners and this depends on the country you live in. There is no IDES download on SDN.
    > - <b>what is the trial period</b> (if any) :
All trial periods are 90 days for legal reason. I know we did different in the past, but had to change this.
    >is it
    > possible to renew the license, if yes for how
    > long...
Because of the legal reason trial licenses are  not intended to be renewed. Nevertheless, as we usually provide new downloads every 6 month or so question is when such rights end, as  new downloads renew the evaluation period. Well, the intention is to inform you guys about our software and that is what you essentially do with it (for the most part).
    > I think a blog or a Wiki could help hundreds of

I'll see if I can do something like that... but not before easter.

  • HTMLB and Java EE 5 Sneak Preview?

    Hello *,
I recently installed the Java EE Sneak Preview. I'd like to develop some JSP that still use HTMLB. But I could not find any information, whether the Java EE Sneak Preview includes or even supports HTMLB, Do you have any information about that? I already searched the plugins folder of the SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio, that ships with the Java EE Sneak Preview. But I couldn't find a "htmlb.jar" or something like that. Is there any documentation about this?
    Kind regards, Lars

    Hi Lars!
Actually the Java EE 5 Edition IDE does only contain Java EE 5 standard tools that are based on Eclipse's WTP. There are also a few administrative SAP specific plugins bundled: MaxDB client plugins, SAP MMC for Eclipse and a Deploy View for SAP specific deployment.

    Hi,
I am new to SAP Netweaver Enterprise portal (java)
I donloaded  SAP Full Java Edition-Trial -SAP NetWeaver 04 SP16. which is with out visula composer support.
There is another SAP NetWeaver Sneak Preview and Trial.
    Which with visual composer support.
That is Full Java Edition2004s-Trial - SAP NetWeaver 04s SP7.
so let me know which Service pack is first.
Weather SP16 is first or SP7 is First.

    Hi mmukesh,

  • Sneak Preview of WAS 640 and ABAP Engine

    Hi all,
I installed the Sneak Preview of the WAS 6.40 on a WinXP system an tried out most of the examples and tutorials.
It is working fine and the developer studio is also very nice.
I am wondering whether the abap engine is also available in the sneak preview or is it restricted to the java side only?
    Best Regards,
    Steffen

    Hi Steffen,
all you need for this type of communication is already included in the WAS. There's a lot of documentation available:
JCO (Java Connector for ABAP backends): http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/35/42e13d82fcfb34e10000000a114084/frameset.htm
Generating proxies "around" JCO (very useful feature of the developer studio):
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/ed/897483ea5011d6b2e800508b6b8a93/frameset.htm
Using ABAP EIS in a transactional J2EE environment via J2EE connector architecture: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/6f/1bd5caa85b11d6b28500508b5d5211/frameset.htm
This should be sufficient for the beginning
    Hope that helps.

  • Import and Export transport requests on Netweaver 2004s Sp11 Sneak Preview

    Hi Experts,
I have configured the transportation system <STMS> in order to import and export transport requests on the NSP system. The configuration is working properly as files can be imported and exported out of the C:\sapmnt\trans directory. (configuration distributed by STMS -> Overview -> Systems -> Extras -> Distribute TMS Configuration, Folder SAPMNT shared).
The problem I'm facing with the import of some example transports is given by the hanging import queues. In phase 'Import ABAP Dictionary Objects' I have the following message for almost all objects -> '... was not imported in this step'.
I tried to solve this issue by running SE38->RDDNEWPP with DDIC user to schedule job RDDIMPDP for TP imports. I also made the config in TP_DOMAIN_NSP.PFL with SYSTEM_PF = C:\SAP\NSP\SYS\profile\DEFAULT.PFL.
The error is still in logfile SLOG0732.NSP
ERROR:       The following call returned with exit code 7:
    ERROR:         sapevt.exe SAP_TRIGGER_RDDIMPDP -t name=NSP
    and logfile dev_evt
    ERROR ***: MsSndTypeOnce, rc = -20
    ERROR ***: Event raise failed
With the exports there is a similar issue in the EXPORT phase, given the note
    0 entries from WDY_APPLICATIONT exported.
Batch process is available (parameter rdisp/wp_no_btc = 1)
Profile has been activated by rz10->utilities->import profile->ofactive servers.
Any ideas what still can be wrong? Does the import export and DDIC activation really work with the sneak preview?
    Thanks
    Christoph

    Hi Peter
First of all thanks for your advice.

  • How to use JCo Provider Service w/Sneak Preview and Test Drive

I have both SAP Web AS Sneak Preview (6.40) and MiniWas 6.20 Test Drive installed on a single system.  I have implemented a Java server program which can be RFC called from an ABAP program using JCO.
The only disadvantage to this process is that I must manually run the server program each time I bring up the J2EE system.
I would like to set things up so that when I start the WebAS 6.40 J2EE system, the server function can be automatically registered (if I'm using the correct terminology - not at all sure about that...).  It looks to me that I should be able to use JCo Provider Service to do what I want to do, but I don't know how to do any of the session bean creation and I esp. can't seem to find out how to run the  J2EE Visual Administrator, which the documentation I've found leads me to believe needs to be used.
Is there a tutorial, or example, that will lead me through this entire process?  I have the ABAP calling program working OK, and I have the Java JCo server program working ok - I just want to create something in Java that will operate like a good old C Language function installed as an RFM.
Can anyone help? Is it possible?

    Stefan:
Well, I guess I'm stuck at the first step.
As I understand it, I have to use the Visual Administrtor to register the Web AS 6.40 Sneak Preview system as an RFC destination.  When I bring up the Visual Administrator, it has essentially two tabs showing: Dispatcher and Server.  It's inviting me to define a connection and Login.  So, Q1: Is it inviting me to login to the J2EE or the Web AS?  Either way, I am never able to login - I get this error:
    com.sap.engine.services.security.exceptions.BaseLoginException: Cannot create new RemoteLoginContext
I used all of the NetWeaver sneak preview defaults when installing, and I recorded these:
    Type               Account
    OS User            Compaq-laptop/J2EAdm
    OS User            Compaq-laptop/SAPServiceJ2E
    DB User            SAPJ2EDB
    J2EE Engine User   Administrator
    J2EE Engine User   Guest
Q2:  Is it possible to do what I'm trying to do with the Sneak Preview system?
Or am I trying to connect and logon to the Web AS 6.20 Test Drive (I don't think so...)?  I used the defaults when installing the Test Drive, and have these users:
    BCUSER
    DDIC
Is it one of these I should be logging onto?
Also, Visual Administrator wants a port specified on the J2EE Engine connection paramters - what port should I be specifiying?
Can you get me past this dilemma, Stefan?  Thanks...

  • Sneak preview of Guided procedures ( CAF ) on EP 6.0 and higher

    Hi
I am looking to build some prototype workflows on CAF- GP ( Guided procedures ) . I understand that GP runs on enterprise portal 6.0 and higher. Could anyone please forward me the correct link to a sneak preview download of enterprise portal - that comes along with GP ? I tried many links given in weblogs on EPs - but none of them take me to a location wherein I can download the sneak preview of EP 6.0 or higher ...
    Please help...

Is there no location on SDN where in I can get a working - sneak preview ( trial version ) download of Enterprise Portal - seems very strange.

  • NW Sneak Preview EP 6.0 SP4 and TREX

    Greetings.
I installed the sneak preview edition with KM and it works fine. We would like to install TREX.
Did anyone tried installing TREX along with the Sneakpreview. If so could you please let me know the version and any other tips.
    Thanks in advance.
    - PK

    PK,
Have you had any success configuring TREX with EP 6.0 SP4?  I have been trying myself and have not had much luck.
After a successful install of TREX 6.0.1.2.0 on a seperate server, I receive a java runtime error in the Portal TREX monitor.
I have also noticed that in the Portal, under System Administration -> System Configuration -> Knowledge Management -> Configuration,  there is no TREX folder.
I am beginning to think that you cannot install TREX onto this trial version of EP.  Do you agree?
    Thanks,
    Matt

  • ADS Interactive Forms and NW2004s Sneak Preview - Credentials

    Hi everybody,
I have recently installed the Sneak Preview of NW 2004s SPS07 which comes with Adobe Interactive Forms.
Trying to use an Interactive Form in an Web Dynpro App I keep getting an Exception saying
Could not retrieve a password for credential: ReaderRights
Can I used Interactive Forms without the Credentials file?
Is there any way to obtain a credentials file for the Sneak Preview (no by applying for one as a SAP customer)
Thanks in advance and kind regards,

    Hello Andreas,
The credential file is available on downloads page from where you downloaded the Sneak Preview. Just scroll down to the requirements section.
