  • Nokia Lumia 925 Windows phone keeps shutting down

I have had a problem for the past 2 months, my Nokia Lumia 925 with Win 8.1 keeps shutting down spontaneously. (I did not have this problem before 8.1)  This is my third phone in the last 2 months (warranty program keeps sending me replacements) and it shut down for the first time this morning. All 3 have developed the same problem, the phone will shut down spontaneously and the only way to start it up again is a soft reset (Volume down + Power for 15 seconds). I have had a total of 10-15 shutdowns between the 3 phones and this is a conservative estimate.
I am thinking that this has to be a setting or an app that I use (and few others do) that is causing the shutdown since I have only seen a few other similar issues in the forums. Here are some of the basic facts about my situation and some of the actions I have taken:
                  - I have wiped the phones repeatedly (3 phones wiped a total of 3 or 4 times not including the initial setup of the replacement phones, which is getting really old--really fast).
                   - I have tried turning off NFC, but that obviously  wasn't the issue because NFC was off this morning when it shut off.
                    - I have tried trimming the screen protector/screen guard I installed as suggested in one of the other forums even though that seemed ridiculous (I think that was a different model phone too, but I gave it a shot)
I have not noticed any common occurrence such as
--when a certain app is running
                               --when it is on/off charger,
-- When the battery is full or low (it was 24% this morning).
-I have 2 chargers, 3 if you include the car charger that I have never had to use due to great battery life.
                   - I have called tech support several times, all AT&T can tell me is that this is not a known issue and I should wipe it again. Nokia says the same and that I should send it back to them for repairs. That seems fruitless to me because I have had 3 different phones, what are they going to repair that a new phone won't fix?
It takes me 3 hours to reinstall and set up my apps, I am getting very frustrated. I really love the way this phone functions, the software is good, the screen is brilliant and very sensitive, the camera is great (although a bit slow), and the size and feel are perfect for me...I hope that someone here on the forums can help.
Thanks for your help in advance...
    Al

    Hello, mariaadamsky.
We appreciate you reaching out to our community regarding your concern. You are using a Lumia 925 as well, correct? Did something happen to your phone that possibly caused such behavior? Did you try doing fixes on it?
Latest software released for Lumia phones is the Lumia Cyan. To confirm that you have it installed on your phone, go to Settings> extras+info. You can also try going to Settings> phone update> check for updates to check if there's an available update. Are your system apps also updated? While connected to WiFi, go to Store> ...> downloads to check for pending updates. Let's hope that the phone will not shut down while doing this process.
By the way, we can try other fixes that could help us identify the real cause of the issue. In case you wish to have it repaired in a Nokia Care Point, warranty claim may vary per region and Nokia does not have an international warranty. Also, creating a backup is a must to avoid data loss. Where did you buy the phone and where are you located right now? To know about the manufacturer's limited warranty, go here: http://nds1.nokia.com/files/support/global/phones/guides/Nokia_Manufacturers_Limited_Warranty_with_W....
We look forward to your reply.

  • 6921 Phone and Multiple Users

We are a school system deploying a new Unified Communications Manager with Unity Voicemail.  We will be placing 6921 phones in our classrooms.  Some of these clasrooms are shared by two teachers and the plan is to give each teacher a unique extension number and voicemail mailbox.  In the shared rooms, this amounts to using both lines on the 6921 and having two mailboxes.
The system is not in and live yet, but we are trying to work through some of the issues we know we'll encounter.  One problem that we are trying to solve is how to indicate the presence of new voicemail messages for each user in the room.  We are hearing from our vendor that they do not know of a way to indicate message waiting for both lines on a 6921.  Unfortunately they have no experience with the 6921 phones, so they are basing this on guesswork.  They cannot verify this as their lab is running UCM 6.x.  We are installing 7.1, but have rights to upgrade to 8.0 if necessary.
We are hoping that the phone can indicate distinct message waiting for each line in some fashion.  The documentation seems to indicate that this might be possible.  We are even OK if the message waiting indicator lights for a message in either mailbox and the users would need to pick up their line and check for a stutter dial tone, but we do not know if this will work either.  What we want to avoid is a situation where only one (or neither)  extension activates the message waiting indicator and one (or both) users would need to periodically check their voicemail mailbox, or pick up the phone to check for stutter dial tone.
Has anyone deployed 6921s in this fashion and know if there is a way to have distinct message waiting indicators for both lines on a 6921?  If so, how does it work?  Is it a distinct light, or a distinct message on the display?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Mark

    Hi Mark -
Here's something that might help you - http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cuipph/6921_6941_6961/8_0/english/user/guide/book/6921enu801.pdf
It is the Unified IP Phone Guide which discusses the 6921 phone.  It discusses phone features that can be configured in CUCM for the phones - the two I think you are interested in: (1) Visual Message Waiting and (2) Audible Message Waiting.  The AMWI is the stutter dial tone you referenced, heard when the user presses the line button to go off-hook.  Although I don't have personal experience with the 69XX phone series yet, I do have experience with dual-line phones like the 794X.  For your shared phone with two lines, both configured for a voicemail profile, here is something that will probably apply to the 6921:  The Messages button on the phone is the voicemail speed-dial (Easy message access) for the primary line on the phone.  For voicemail users on the second line, for the same functionality, users will press the second line to go off-hook and then press the Messages button.  Unity voicemail will recognize the calling number as a subscriber and prompt for password/PIN.  Also, check out the System Policy in CUCM for the directory number configuration, which allows the Visual MWI to be set for secondary lines (Light and prompt), otherwise the typical default is just to light and prompt for the primary line.
    Sincerely,
    Ginger

  • Nokia Software Recovery has Bricked my Phone!

My Lumia 928 died when I was recovering it and now I can't turn it on!
The phone doesn't seem to be charging and windows doesn't recognize it anymore.
Is there anything I can do?

    Hi, AxleRose.
Let's further isolate your case. What's the current status of your phone now? Can you tell us why you're recovering your phone using the Nokia Software Recovery Tool? Are you trying to fix an issue? What's the software version of your phone before you use the recovery tool?
When you connect it to the charger that came with it and let it charge for about 20 minutes, can you confirm that the start key flashes? You mentioned that "windows doesn't recognize it anymore". Does this happen regardless the USB cable you're using and USB port it's connected to? If possible, try connecting the phone to a different PC.
We look forward to your reply. By the way, welcome to our community.
    Good day, Sensonic.
Yes, it would still be under warranty. Learn more about the manufacturer's limited warranty by visiting this link: http://nds1.nokia.com/files/support/global/phones/guides/WC_B9229743_EN_1.pdf.

I would like to set the IP phones display language to russian.
at the  URL http://www.linksys-itsp.com I didn't find a dictonary in russian.
    Can I find that dictonary?
Or Can I create the dictonary by myself and how can I do that?
There are no such instructions in the phone guide.

i also got mine from the same link so maybe these are just the available languages for the device...maybe you can ask your linksys contact if it can be included as a feature request...

  • Problem with Nokia CK-7W HandsFree Car Kit

My wife recently bought a new car and the dealership installed a CK-7W bluetooth kit for us. However, we're having a really annoying problem with it.
Every so often, at completely random times, the stero in the car switches off for just a second and a really loud and annoying "beep" comes through the car speakers. At first I thought it was something to do with the cars settings so I searched through the car manual and even phoned the dealership back. However, the guy who sold it to me didn't know what the problem was and advised me to bring it back to them.
It's a while until I can get back to the dealership, but I'm pretty sure the problem lies with the bluetooth kit rather than the car. The reason I say this is because the annoying beep coincides with whenever the bluetooth connection is lost with the mobile phone it's paired with i.e. I think the beep is happening when the bluetooth kit is switching itself off.
My wife has a Sony Ericsson phone and I have a Nokia. I don't think the problem lies with the phones, because it happens no matter which phone is paired with it. It also happens when there isn't even a phone in the car or when both of our phones have the bluetooth switched off!
The manual provided with the kit (and available for download on this website) is totally useless. It barely explains how to use the kit properly or what each of the buttons/dials does. Also, there's a little light on the remote control button. Sometimes it's on, sometimes it's off, but most of the time it flashes. The manual says "The indicator light has three states: On. Flashing. Off." But, totally unhelpfully, it doesn't say what each of these states mean!!
My guess is that the bluetooth kit is randomly switching itself on and off, and then when it does switch off that is when the beep happens. But the very unhelpful manual provided with the kit is giving me no clues as to whether this is normal or not, or how to stop it happening.
The random beep drives us absolutely crazy. It's really loud and makes you jump whenever it happens and there appears to be now way even to turn it down! It's spoling our enjoyment of the new car. I cannot believe this is normal for this bluetooth kit and I feel fairly sure there must be a simple way to turn this beep off. But as I say, the manual is totally useless, so I'm turning ti this board for help!
Please someone help me with this! Do you think I've got a faulty kit or is there a simple way to cure this problem?
    Many thanks in advance.

    Hi daveduck
I expect that they were happy to charge you enough, but why fit an outdated unit such as CK-7W to a new vehicle? It doesn't have noise canceling features such as newer CK-100 anyway and you would probably be disappointed with it's performance if trying to use newer phones. If one of you was using cradle connection and the other Bluetooth, I might have seen a rationale behind fitting this unit with reservations.
There is a way of stopping the "beeps" if the permanent +ve red wire is connected to same source as the IGN +ve Blue wire so unit reboots each time ignition is switched on, rather than being left permanently on.
The going rate for using a non-accredited Nokia carkit installer is a bit cheaper for the dealer but you have got the worst of both world's, a fitter not really familiar with Nokia products and poor advice.

  • I Can't Get MacHelp with Help yet...I've tried EVERYTHING *screams & cries*

I don't know what else I can possibly do.
For the past 11 months I have tried every single suggestion offered on the Apple forum(s) to get my MacHelp to Help...but nothing works. Today I called Apple and they emailed me a list of suggestions that the tech absolutely guaranteed that will make Help work...I did them all...again...and again...and again and they did not work. I downloaded and installed the newest MacOS10.4.3 combo (not from the software update app) and thought for sure that would make it work...but it still does not &*#+%@! work.
I am SO desparate for my MacHelp to work.
Has anyone made it work? Is it still working? How in the world did you manage to do it? Please tell me. *pleads for HeLP*

many, many stars should go to Bee as there are LOTS of folks who have lamented about not having MacHelp's help.
When I got my first ever computer back in Sept 2000...a Mac, of course ...to say "I was clueless." is a gross understatement of fact. All I knew of the computers was how to surf the net and how to send and open email...thanks to a kindly lady at my local library who patiently explained it to me. When I got my first computer (I'm on my second now) I didn't even know the difference between a file and a folder or how to save properly. Thanks to a Mac obsessed doctor that I use to work with who explained files and folders to me...laughing, of course I got started with things. But by then I had slammed files and folders into every which where on the hardrive. So I did my first clean install...with the Apple Tech guy on the phone guiding me through it. I can honestly say I was taught how to use my computer by kind & generous people here on the discussion boards, the Apple Techs on the phone (sweet, smart and very patient bunch of folks they are), and the few Mac users I've actually met (there should be more of them). Everyone has been very patient and actually happy to help share their Mac joy with me. Mac joy is contagious and I caught it and have been happy to have it.
Of all the places on the internet where I could go for Mac assistance, right here is the place where I come.
    I love you folks.
    *giving everybody sentimental hugs*

  • Free sat nav on Nokia E72 for life

I have the Nokia E72 which apparently comes with free sat nav for life. However, I cannot get this to work and the manual is not helpful in any shape or form......Any ideas as to how I activate this free device ??????

    Hi GillRogers
OvI Maps application is built into your phone firmware although it won't be the latest v3.04 version from here:http://maps.nokia.com/services-and-apps/ovi-maps/free-downloads#/nokia-e72/
You do however need to install OVI Suite on your PC to enable you to download regional maps, although you need a microSD memory card and you must run OVI Maps application at least once with memory card in place; you also need to download chosen voice files for "voice navigation" to work.
