CCS Password Manager and Fingerprint Manager compatibility problems

Hello All, I have a Thinkpad E550, bought by the end of last year, and it came with Fingerprint Manager 4.5. I also wanted to use a Password Manager, so I downloaded the CSS version 8.3. Both are working, but they can't see each other. Anyone can help me with that? Best Regards,

Hello mate,
Open Client Security Solution. on the top left corner you can see a button Advanced click on it and then Reset security settings.
See how it goes.

  • Thinkvantage CSS Password Manager Import Problem

    Good morning,
I have run into a bit of a problem.
Backstory:  About a month ago my HD crashed on my T61, and since I was thinking about upgrading to Win7 Professional from XP Pro SP3, it seemed like the perfect time since I had to do a clean install anyway.  Just before the crash I backed up everything on the HD to a backup drive including the previous version of CSS and password manager.
Present Day:  I have managed to upgrade to Win7 Pro, reinstall all of the applications, documents, etc, and install the latest version of CSS that works with Win7 Pro 64bit.  Everything is working fine including Password Manager.
I have found the .PWM file on the backup drive and attempted to import it to the new version of PWM.  It keeps asking for a password.  I have tried every password (including system password) to no avail.
Can someone assist me in finding a work around or a way to import this file?  There are too many entries in this file that cannot be re-created from memory.
    Thank you in advance.

Thanks for the suggestion. There is one thing I need to clarify: I did not export the backup from the older version CSS Password Manager (8.30.0045) but was trying to use the .pwm file from its data folder in my backup archives. I tried what you suggested, re-installed the older version (the oldest I could find from Lenovo website, CSS 8.30....), then there were two options I was facing: import the *.pwm file from the back (even though it was not originally exported), I was asked import password, for which I tried every possible one I've used before but none worked.  Then I directly put the *.pwm file into the same path location %user%\AppData\Roaming\Lenovo\Client Security Solution and hoped the older version will be able to pick it up upon opening. No, it did not. Even more strange things, it asked for my password and then disappeared without giving either the password manager GUI or any error.
Then I did what you said to clear the TPM in the BIOS and got no luck of anything different.
Any other advice is highly appreciated!

  • With Firefox 5.0.1 and Firefox 6 beta there are display problems apparently due to Java and some Javascript compatibility problems -- there were links to solutions, but they are no longer active. What to do?

The box and button lines are not displayed or are mis-sized, if they appear at all; problem varies with the website and page style.
The threads I found in discussions mentioned a couple pages that are no longer active/cannot be opened -- so these solutions don't work.
When starting version 5x and 6beta I get information certain add-ons are STILL incompatible with these versions?
Are there any work-arounds or patches?

I am having this problem too. Just like WinOnBatch the problem started for me around firefox 5.0.1.
I have not been able to get rid of this problem. I have tried creating a new profile, restarting firefox in safe mode. disabling extensions 1 by 1. When I built this computer I did a clean install of firefox 5.0.1, and 2 weeks later with no extensions the problems came back. At that point I had the Java and flash plugins only.
When firefox 6 was released I did another fresh install (uninstalled firefox, went through my hard disc and deleted any reference to firefox and mozilla. Did the same in the registry, then run a registry cleaner and restarted the computer) before I installed firefox 6 and the problem was happening in less than a week. The I said to hell with it and re-created my entire profile from scratch and installed all my old extensions (updated them off course). 2 weeks ago it got really sever and I couldn't see any buttons on the chome interface and all web pages I visited were displaying really messed up. The only way i can describe it is kinda like greentech70 screenshots but on every inch of the application window. Like a really bad screen tearing effect.
The only thing that seem to help is when I downgraded to firefox 3.6.18. That fixed it but like greentech70 I have security and privacy concerns, so upgraded to firefox 6 again as the issue went away for 1 day, then came back but not as severe. since then I have been downgrading to firefox 3.6.18 re-installing java and flash, then upgrading back to firefox 6. It keeps the problem minimised but im still plagued by it. I also wonder if its a problem with firefox's 6 graphical engine.

  • How can a I solve and GPIB/VISA compatibility problem?

My Labview (version 5.1 on a Macintosh) application talks to a variety of instruments over GPIB. In one mode it communicates with both 1) a LakeShore 340 temperature controler (LS340) using VISA-based drivers and 2) a Linear Research LR-700 AC resistance bridge using low-level GPIB functions. My application can query these instruments a couple of times per second, usually without trouble. However, periodically (about once an hour) the GPIB Read will cease to work with the LR700 or any of the other instruments on the same bus, returning error 6 (I/O operation aborted). GPIB Write still works fine. Querying the LS340 when the system is in this state produces the VISA error Hex 0xBFFF003C (Insufficient system reso
urces to perform necssary memory allocation). Querying the LS340 a second time is successful, and thereafter GPIB Reads are also successful.
I think somehow the GPIB and VISA protocols are interfering with each other. (Although the data dependency requires that the VISA Write/Read be complete before the GPIB Write/Read begins, I am not opening/closing the VISA session with every iteration. The VISA session is opened on the first iteration and stored in a shift register.) However, the maddening infrequency of this problem makes it very difficult to troubleshoot. Any suggestions?

    Hi Chris,
    One suggestion;
Write two seperate test routines that each use only one method or the other.
Test the H*&#$ out of each to attempt to determine if the issue is associated with the high level or the the low.

  • IBM SPSS 20 and Maverick: Any compatibility problems?

    Hello,
I was wondering whether anybody has noticed any problems with SPSS 20 after the upgrading to Maverick?!
    Cheers,
    Mario

Yes Oppiefromil is correct.  Installing Mavericks aiutomatically deletes Java, which SPSS needs to work properly.  So, after updating to Mavericks, you'll need to download and reinstall the latest version of Java, which you can download here: <https://www.java.com/en/download/mac_download.jsp?locale=en>. This site has the most recent version of Java for Mac.  For some reason Apple is still using Java version 6, while Oracle's Java website has had Java version 7 for a long while now.
Download Java from Oracle's website, then install.  After install, you'll need to quit your browser and then reopen it. That'll complete the Java install, and Java will reappear in your Systems Preferences again.
(You can confirm all this by checking System Prefs before you upgrade to Mavericks.  Your Java icon appears in the bottom row.  After upgrading to Maverocks, check System Prefs again, and the Java icon is no longer there, as Mavericks deletes it as a part of its install process.  Follow the above link to reinstall Java, then after the installation is complete, check System Prefs again and the Java icon is back in the bottom row).
Once Java is installed SPSS 21 should run just fine.  I just tested it after reinstallling Java and it opens up and works perfectly.  It should, therefore, also work fine with SPSS v22.  Not sure if it works with SPSS v20.
    Hope that helps!

  • How do I "refresh" a password in Password Manager if it was done in another Browser (IE)?

I had my Facebook password saved in Firefox. When I updated password a year ago, I did it in Explorer as Firefox was not loaded on that computer.
Now that I am back using this computer with Firefox fulltime, I realize password was never "updated" in Password Manager. Problem is it never prompted me to save the password and cannot recall what it is anymore. And Firefox autopopulates the original password when I go to enter a new facebook password.
Is there any way to "refresh" Firefox or get it to prompt a request to save the password? The key does not show up in the browser bar and wonder if somewhere in the options or settings, I can prompt it?
    Thanks in advance

  • ThinkVantage Password Manager incompatible with Firefox 7.0.1

I've updated my Firefox to 7.0.1 and have noted the greyed out message within the FFox add-ons that the ThinkVantage Password Manager is incompatible with Firefox 7.0.1   I have search for a fix or patch from Lenovo that address this issue with this version of FFox  but have not found any solutions. Does anyone have an ear to a possible solution? Thanks!
Moderator edit: Removed javascript from post.

    Hi,
There is a patch for FF support.
     Please check  the link below,
    http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkVantage-Technologies/Password-Manager-compatibility-issue-with-Fire...
If you are using FF8.0 and it is not working after the patch is installed.
    To the following steps:
Disable password manager extension from FF,
And find the file "tvtpwm_jstypes.xpi" and drag it into FF to reinstall the extension.
This file is usually in folder, "c:\swtools\css83_firefox5_patch"

  • Do any versions of FF support the use of Lenovo's ThinkVantage Password Manager s/w and fingerprint scanner?

Lenovo Edge 15" laptop running Windows 7 (64 bit) and using Thinkvantage Password Manager Ver 3.20.0330 and TouchStrip Fingerprint Sensor (UPEK).
The password manager is to set to restrict logins to websites to fingerprint but when logging into websites I am not given the option to use the fingerprint reader -(the login info stored in the P/W manager is entered and login takes place). I have seen elsewhere that FF 3.6 has problems supporting this combination and wonder if any earlier versions of FF would be suitable or if FF 4 is likely to support it.
    Any help would be appreciated

I would recommend, if you have it set, to go to a restore point before you uninstalled the password manager version that did not give you a problem and not use the new version until this bug is resolved.
If the fingerprint light is not showing up, then it is probably not limited to you and I hope Lenovo checks it out.
Too bad the newer version seems to load slowly - I will check it out as well.

  • I have a password manager built into my fingerprint scanner. It worked on the older version of Firefox but it will not on this new version. It will not recognize log in pages and will not load information.

With the old version, all I had to do was go to the log in page to any of my email accounts or membership sites and scan my finger. It would fill in the fields and open my account. I like this new version of Firefox, but if I am not able to use that password manager then I will have to install the older version.

A 2008 black MacBook can run OS X Lion (OS X 10.7). However, if you want to use that Mac for apps that do not work with the new MacBook, I recommend you to leave it with Mac OS X 10.6.8, because OS X Lion removes compatibility with PowerPC apps.
Do not worry about the battery of the new MacBook Pro. You can replace it yourself or take it to an Apple Store or reseller, and the cost is similar. However, it's important to take the Mac to an Apple Store or reseller if your Mac's battery fails while the Mac is in warranty, because you will get the battery replaced for free.

  • How can I re-download the previous version of Firefox. I have lost most of my add-ons with 4.0 including my password manager. This is a calamity and I've changed my default browser from Firefox. Help!!!

The problem is very simple. As soon as I downloaded Firefox 4.0 I lost my add-ons. The add-ons were the reason I have been using Firefox for several years. This seems to be ludicrous. The new version should be able to manage integration of existing add-ons or the Firefox team should have provided the add-on authors with advance technical information before releasing 4.0 to the world.

To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.
You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.

  • ThinkVantage Password Manager unable to recognize fingerprint reader

Hi, I have a X220 running on Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. My ThinkVantage Password Manager version is 3.20.0333.00, and my fingerprint reader driver version is 1.5.0.289 from AuthenTec. My ThinkVantage Fingerprint Software version is 5.9.5 build 7038.
However, when authentication is required for the Password Manager, a Client Security Solution pops up showing "The requested operation requires fingerprint authentication, but the device is not installed. Please make sure the device is connected and retry the operation."
I am also unable to find the "enroll fingerprint" option in my Password Manager.
    Anyone have similar problems? Thanks.

Did this work previously, and it just stopped working?
What version of Client Security Solution is installed?  To use that version of Fingerprint software, it needs to 8.30.0049 (or later)

  • Password Manager-problems

I have serious problems with my password manager. I can't no longer get into it because it doesn't recognize my fingerprint or my windows password. And when I start the computer it says my windows passwords has been changed and I need to type them in to syncronise with Client Security Solution. BUT when I type it in to Password manager it doesn't recognize it. And if I try to use the fingerprint I registred it says no fingerprint has been registred - which isn't true. I have deleted and registred them several times.
And after a while (from 5 minutes to two hours) the computer stops working and I have to shut it down on the on-button and some of my works doesn't get saved so in reality I can't use my brand new computer (two weeks old) and have to use my old Sony...I don't know how to get around the problem?? I'm not very good at comupters but with instructions I can do a lot!

  • Firefox 3.6 and future add-on updates of Password Manager

    Hello to all Thinkpad users,
I am starting this thread in order to encourage you people who are using lenovo's fingerprint reader with Password manager add-on for  Firefox.
Firefox 3.6 is just around a corner, and we are left in dark without an update of compatible Firefox add-on.
The previous thread "Firefox  3.5 PM compatibility  Saga" is not an encouraging
    reading.
However I hope all of you interested in Password Manager Update for Firefox 3.6  will reply to this thread and make it even longer than "Firefox  3.5 PM compatibility  Saga", so finally we'll be heard by lenovo and we'll get an update.
P.S. I am not a fan of conspiracy theories but this looks like an MS obstruction

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

For a variety of reasons not involving the Password Manager, I'm still using Firefox 3.0.x.
As I understand it, the Lenovo Firefox PM extension uses, in addition to the usual Javascript files, a custom DLL executable to interface with the PM. Usually such binary extension DLLs also are built for a specific version of the Firefox toolkit XPCOM programming interface, which has changed between the firefox 3.0.x and 3.5.x lines of development, hence simply manually editing the Firefox version numbers found in the install.rdf file in C:\Program Files\Lenovo\Client Security Solution\PWM FireFox Extension probably won't work.
This really needs serious attention from Lenovo! Firefox 3.5.x has been released for months already.
I use the Firefox Password Manager, encrypting my online passwords with a Firefox master password: the Firefox password recognition and storage is better than Lenovo's. What I really want, is an option in the Lenovo Firefox PM extension that just prompts me for my fingerprint when the Firefox master password dialog appears, not for every website password!
