CCX7.0 Database Integration with Oracle 10g through ODBC
Good Day…
We are up to integrate CCX7.0 with Oracle 10g, CCX7.0 documents show the way to integrate the CCX7.0 with SQL server, but mention nothing about Oracle 10g, anyway...
I tried to check the ODBC options, there were many options, I tried to select any Oracle related choice, just to find out Oracle should supply the driver for it. In the forums, people say it’s an Oracle Client, but what will this client do? Am I going to connect though it to the oracle database server or is it going to query the database to my CCX server? What am I going to use in this case, user DSN or system DSN?
If there any tips or recommendations I will be grateful, as it is my first database integration.
Thanks
AT
Hi Aaron
Thanks Aaron for the information, and yes you are right, I am not a database person.
I have here some questions, sorry if some of them sounds silly
1) Is there a certain Oracle Client version? or and Oracle Client will work for me?
2) Do you recommend system DSN on user DSN?
3) “…. available to any device on the system” as you said in your reply, what do you mean by "device" and "system"? Sorry, but this will help to clear the picture to me
4) What will this Oracle Client exactly do? Is it going to build an SQL table on my CCX server that query the information from the Oracle Server?
5) My customer has already implemented database integration with IPCC3.5, how can I check the current configuration of the Oracle Client, and what things else should I check before proceeding with the integration?
The reason I want to understand this because there is a lot of database integration is requested from us, the CCX scripts can be used to query data from SQL tables, I read a lot about this –waiting for the implementation phase- the lucky me, the first integration I faces is with Oracle.
Anyway, who said learning is easy.
Thanks Aaron for your time, waiting your answers.

Database Service Name or Global Database Name with Oracle 10G, when Oracle
I have an old installation of Oracle 9i (SID=ORCL) and now have installed Oracle 10G (SID=ORC2). I can get connection to Oracle 10G if i define it as an Oracle 8 compatible identification (ie I access to a SID, and don´t provide a Service Name.
Now I want to install Oracle HTML DB, and succeeded to install the SQL-script that came with the download, but when I install Apache and HTML DB from the Oracle Companion CD I am asked to give the Database Service Name (in the Help it is explained as the Global Database Name).
When i give the Net Service Name I get error messages (incomprehensible).
When I look in Net Manager, the Net Service Name does not have a Service Name, but only points to a SID (ie ORC2).
Where can I find the Database Service Name (or Global Database Name), OR define it if it is not defined??
Thanks for your help, create a net service for oracle10g and provide the name of this service during HTML DB installation it is required for installation.

Connect PostgreSQL to Oracle 10g through ODBC: can't read all_tables
Oracle 10g is not able to read the database table names (all_tables and all_objects, es. select * from all_tables@hspostgresodbc) from PostgreSQL using ODBC (v. 08.01.0200). This functionality is essential to be able to use Oracle Warehouse Builder and import external database definitions (heterogeneous services).
However, Oracle (SQL*Plus) is able to retrieve records when the table name is stated in the SQL query (es. select * from my_table).
The problem seems to be specifically with the PostgreSQL ODBC because Oracle is able to read schemes from other databases through ODBC. Ive done some tests with Access dbs just to be sure that the problem is not with my system (Windows XP SP2).
The problem appears both with ANSI and UNICODE PostgreSQL drivers.
Any suggestion of how workaround this problem?
thanks in advance,
RaoniDear all,
Ive tried different tracing levels with out success. The log file does not seem to be created by Oracle.
Looking closer to the debug and comm logs from the driver 8.01.0200, Ive found out that the problem was generated after a table wasnt found (the driver seems to search for the all_tables table, and just afterwards to query the scheme pg_catalog). In this case the all the following queries returned with the error ERROR: current transaction is aborted, commands ignored until end of transaction block. Maybe this problem is related with the bug [#1000641] http://pgfoundry.org/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1000641&group_id=1000125&atid=538
Following the Postgres odbc developers suggestion, Ive installed the psqlODBC v 08.02.0002 and Ive got a completely different result.
As before, the simple query select * from my_table@hsodbc returns the result using SQL*Plus clearly faster than before.
Doing the query select * from all_tables@hsodbc the result is OK (the name of 56 tables) but the process is very slow and burdensome. The file paging memory in the machine running Oracle and the SQL*Plus jumps from the normal 700 MB to 1.7 GB, and the query takes about 20 minutes to complete.
Also the 1.7 GB remains allocated and the query process halted in PostGreSQL even after the on screen result of the query. The memory is freed and the process terminated after the logging out SQL*Plus.
Probably as result of this memory explosion, the system runs out of memory and Oracle Warehouse Builder selecting data base link -> schema, after some minutes get an error similar to: cant read from memory address XXXXX
All those test where done with PostGreSQL 8.0.1 (on Linux Suse 9.0) and Oracle 10g (Windows XP SP2).
To be sure that the problem was not related to the PostGreSQL version, we updated the server to the 8.1.3 (running in Linux Suse 9.0 with psqlODBC v 08.02.0002 ) and OWB couldnt see any table as before and doing Select * from all_tables@hsodbc weve got the message:
ERROR:
ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1
ORA-28500: connection from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned this message:
[Generic Connectivity Using ODBC]
ORA-02063: preceding 2 lines from HSPG
no rows selected
On the other hand, with the same configuration as before (Oracle 10g under Windows XP SP1, psqlODBC v 08.02.0002) but with PostGreSQL 8.1.3 under Windows XP SP1, OWB can read table names (same tables imported from Linux PostgreSQL) but not all_tables (a minor problem, because what is important for us is to make OWB work with PostgreSQL).
The encoding for all DBs is UTF8.
Any ideas of where could be the problem?

Peoplesoft HCM 9.0 Integration with Oracle R12 through Integration Broker
We are having the two latest application at our site.
1 Peoplesoft HCM 9.0 for HR + Payroll
2 Oracle R12 for remaining business process like SCM + CRM
Now we have an requirement to transfer data between peoplesoft and oracle finacial.
presently we have written the interfaces to transfer data between these systems.
Can anyone suggest me that is it possible to transfer data between these two systems through Integration Broker ?
your suggestions are welcome.
Thanks
ParthThanks HakanBiroglu for the response.
I went through the post. I am aware of these steps.
But I need help on point 2.
2.There should be single sign on setup between these DB's
How to achieve this ? -
Hello,
I dont use ODBC much. Been awhile since I have had to use it.
I have Oracle 10.2.0.3 installed on a win2k workstation and installed 10203 patch, which consisted of copying over 3 dll's and some notes. Oddly enough, the notes wanted to go to an ODBC folder, which did not exist.
I go to admin tools/odbc and no new oracle odbc option under system dns.
Whats the trick here? What do I need to do to an existing 10.2.0.3 install to get the new odbc options available in the odbc data source admin?
I think I am missing a simple step. Unfortunately there is nothing I can find in searching here.I am assuming that when you say "I have Oracle 10.2.0.3 installed on a win2k workstation", you are referring to having the 10.2.0.3 Oracle client on your machine, right? Did you install the Oracle ODBC driver when you first installed the 10.2 Oracle client (under the Oracle Windows Interfaces option when doing the install)?
When you go to Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Data Sources (ODBC) | Drivers, you should see an entry for the Oracle ODBC driver. You can use that driver to create new DSN's that would appear under the System DSN tab, but installing the driver won't create any new DSN's.

Is it possible to use Oracle Forms 10g with Oracle 10g Lite Database?
Hi All,
We are in process of migrating our forms from 6i to 10g environment.
We have two kinds of applications, one set run on general Oracle 11g database and the other set of forms run at the client machine using Oracle lite database.
We dont have any problem with Forms 6i to connect to Lite database as it allows to connect through ODBC:DSN names. When we try to connect to a lite database (10gR3) from Forms 10g through ODBC/DSN, it's not allowing and throwing the below error.
ORA-03121 : no interface driver connected - function not performed
Can someone tell me if there is something wrong in our approach? Also advise how to use Oracle Lite database with Forms 10G.
Sincerely,
Praveen ManthenaHi,
I have experience with 6i with lite database 10g. There are two version of lite database one is multi language support and other one in english. There lang problem in connectivity with multi language 10g lite database. I done connectivity with single language connectivity of 6i with 10g lite database. You should try this one with forms 10g.

Weblogic SOA 12.1.3: Integration with Oracle 9i Database
All,
We have a client who currently adopt BPEL 10g (10.1.3.4). Currently we are looking to updrade the client to SOA Suite 12.1.3. As part of their existing architecture, there are a number of Oracle 9i databases that the BPEL components integrate with via DB Adapters. The clients current road map is to upgrade / migrate to the 12c SOA platform but not upgrade any of their legacy applications running on top of a Oracle 9i Database.
Please note I have observed and reviewed the Certification Matrix for supported platforms at http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/fusion-middleware/documentation/fmw-1213certmatrix-2226694.xls
As part of initial investigations, we have identified that the JDBC drivers that are integrated with 12.1.3. Weblogic are not compatable with Oracle 9i. You are able to create and test data source conections with success. However at runtime when querying the database a number of issues manifest. These incude:
VARCHAR2 columns are not returned via a select. Date columns and number columns are returned
Errors when executing adapters which implement the Pure SQL feature. The error returned involves the "ora-01460: unimplemented or unreasonable conversion requested" error.
Similair design time issues are also envountered in JDeveloper (as per JDeveloper 12.1.3 (SOA / BPM) Integration with Oracle 9i Database)
Looking at the default configuration in 12c, it is to utilise OJDBC7 drivers supplied which support JDBC 4.1specification.
Has anyone had experience of using an Oracle 9i Database with Weblogic 12.1.3.? or have any viable options / views for how this could be achieved?
Regards DaveI wrongly mentioned to change to change the font format. In that document they mention to add the lines.
Thanks

Compatible of Oracle discover 4 with Oracle 10g Database
Could you please let me know if Oracle Discoverer version 4 is compatible with Oracle 10g database?
We are migrating Oracle database 8i to 10g but want to if we can still live with the Discoverer 4.Interesting question.
As long as you're not talking about 4i (ie: the 'plus-type' version), then it may well work. Reason is that back in v4.x, you'd just be running a client / server version so not using any of the iAS framework so it may be just like running something like: TOAD wherein you're just accessing the database directly.
However, as you have to have the EUL in the database, etc. - I would guess that the best thing to do is to simply try it.
As it's just client / server, you could see if it works as a test case in probably 15 mins. or so. If you do, let us know as useful (albeit, eventually out-dated when 4.x is finally trashed by everyone) information.

Oracle database integration with SAP PI for high volume & Complex Structure
Hi
We have requirement for integrating oracle database to SAP PI 7.0 for sending data which is eventually transferred to multiple receivers. The involved data structure is hugely complex (around 18 child tables) with high volume processing requirement (100K+ objects need to be processed in 6-7 hours). We need to implement logic for prioritizing the object i.e. high priority objects must be processed first and then objects with normal priority.
We could think of implementing this kind of logic in database procedures (at least it provides flexibility for implementing data selection logic as well as processed data can be marked as success in the same SP) but since PI sender adapter doesn't support calling Oracle stored procedures currently so this option is rules out. we can try implementing complex data selection using oracle table function but table function doesn't allow any SQL query which changes data (UPDATE, INSERT, DELETE etc) so it is impossible to mark selected objects in table function from PI communication channel "Update Query" option.
Also, we need to make sure that we are not processing all the objects at once as message size for 20 objects can vary from 100 KB to 15 MB which could really lead to serious performance issues for bigger messages.
Please share any implementation experience for handling issues:
1 - Database Integration involving Oracle at sender side
2 - Complex Data structures
3 - High Volume Processing
4 - Controlled data selection from database to contro the message size in PI
Thanks,
PanchdevHi,
We can call the stored procedure using receiver adapter using ccBPM, we can follow different approaches for reading the data in this case.
a) In this a ccBPM instance needs to be triggered using some dummy message, after receiving this message the ccBPM can make a sync call to the Oracle database the store procedure(this can be done using the specific receiver data type strucure), on getting the response message the ccBPM can then proceed with the further steps. The stored procedure needs to be optimized for improving the performance as the mapping complexity will largely get affected by the structure in which the stored procedure returns the message.Prioritization of the objects can be handled in the stored procedure.
b) In this a ccBPM instance can first read data from the header level table, then it can make subsequent sync calls to Oracle tables for reading data from the child tables. This approach is less suitable for this interface as the number child tables is big.

Install Oracle 9i client on a computer with Oracle 10g Client
Hello all!!
I'm using a computer with Oracle 10g client, and I access two databases. One server has Oracle 10g server, and the other server has Oracle 9i server.
I want to install 9i client, to have it also in my computer. I haver read that I just have to install it in a different ORACLE_HOME, but I have a doubt.
If I install 9i client, would I be able to use the utilities, (exp, expddp, sqlldr) of both versions, or which version will be used in the command line for the utilities.
Thanks a lot!!!To start with, Home Selector is a "9i thing" (and older), in 10g there's the OUI -> Installed Products... -> Environment tab instead.
About the 9i dbca with other Oracle products installed. If you use launch.exe to start via dbca start menu shortcut, it uses ora92\assistants\dbca as working directory ("start from"). So when not looking for "numbered dlls" like oracore9.dll, a later/different version will be loaded if earlier in path, since loading goes through jre directories, ora92\assistants\dbca, then the dir's from path variable. From there it may start to link in libraries from different homes (on my laptop, "launch.exe dbca" uses files from 2 additional home paths!)
But, if you instead use dbca.bat started from ora92\bin, it will look in the right directories first and there's no dll mess-up. (But only when using the correct cwd!)
Plain and simple: stay very far away from multiple-general-home installs. It is possible to install allright, in different homes and all very nicely, but there will be pain when you decide to use the stuff (perhaps with sql*plus as the only exception, but I've run into bugs with that too).

Question about SAP installation with Oracle 10g
I have successfully installed Oracle 10g on Windows server 2008 R2 64bit. I can connect to the database using mysql or through command prompt and run SQL commands.
I started installing the SAP EHP1 for SAP NetWeaver 7.0 ("51038620_13 BS 7 SR1 Installation Master Windows Server on x64 64bit") The installation goes very smooth. I choose the SAPSID and the DBSID sid, but then it gives an error stating to install oracle and continue or stop the installation & install Oracle. I have tried on continuing the installation since Oracle is already installed but I get the same message again and again.
Does it have to do with ORACLE 10g Sid. My Oracle SID is set to "ORCL" should it be the same as DBSID (during SAP Installation). Or the Oracle needs to be installed after SAP installation gets to the point for Oracle Installation. Please assist what needs to be changed. I can reinstall Oracle if needed. Any tips or comments would be nice.> Does it have to do with ORACLE 10g Sid. My Oracle SID is set to "ORCL" should it be the same as DBSID (during SAP Installation). You can't "change". You installed the Oracle software using "setup.exe" - which is wrong. You also created an example database - which is also not correct.
The Oracle software is installed, according to the installation guide, as
- start "sapserver.cmd" on the Oracle DVD (the SAP media)
- install the software according to the installation guide
- install the latest patchset
- install the latest PSU patch
--> and then start sapinst.

Java class integration with Oracle Identity Manager 9.1.0.2
Hello Friends,
I have a java class that is responsible for sending notifications, my question is how do the relationship of this class with the Oracle Identity Manager 9.1.0.2 so you can take the class and notify users when an application is approved or rejected.
Any recommendation for this process.
Thanks for the support
Edited by: JLK on Jun 12, 2012 5:20 PMHi
Java class integration with OIM happen through concept of adapters. You can go through OIM documentation of how to create adapters.
In your case you should create a process task adapetrs adn attach it on the Approved response code in your approval process.
Desingn Console --> Process management --> Process definition --> <Apprlication Process Ex: AD User>.
Alternatively you can also send notification using OIM OOTB email templates.

Get error while Integrating with Oracle's Enterprise User Security
Hi,
I am trying to create an Oracle Enterprise User integrating with OVD and MS Active Directory.
I am following all the steps in Integrating with Oracle's Enterprise User Security.
In the documentation section: "Configuring Oracle Virtual Directory for the Integration"
I have applied the steps successfully until:
Update and load the entries into the Local Store Adapters by performing the following steps:
I have successfully extended the Oracle Virtual Directory schema with the loadOVD.ldif
However I am getting errors in the next step: Update realmRoot.ldif to use your namespaces
The next step states the following:
Update realmRoot.ldif to use your namespaces, including the dn, dc, o, orclsubscriberfullname,
and memberurl attributes in the file. If you have a DN mapping between Active Directory and
Oracle Virtual Directory, use the DN that you see from Oracle Virtual Directory.
The realmRoot.ldif file is located in ORACLE_VIRTUAL_DIRECTORY_HOME/eus,
where ORACLE_VIRTUAL_DIRECTORY_HOME represents the location where Oracle Virtual Directory is installed.
The realmRoot.ldif file contains core entries in the directory namespace that Enterprise User Security queries. The realmRoot.ldif file also contains the dynamic group that contains the registered Enterprise User Security databases to allow secured access to sensitive Enterprise User Security related attributes, like the user's Enterprise User Security hashed password attribute.
Load your domain root information in the realmRoot.ldif file into Oracle Virtual Directory using the following command:
ldapmodify -h Oracle_Virtual_Directory_Host –p OVD_Port -D cn=admin -w Admin_Password -v -a –f realmRoot.ldif
When I run the ldapmodify command I get the following error:
add dc:

#objectclass:topDid you ever get your questions answered about the realmRoot.ldif file? Did you manage to configure a successful integration of OVD with EUS? I am battling with trying to get Oracle Virtual Directory integrated with Enterprise User Security, but every step I take in Chapter 7 of the OVD manual fails in some way, and the instructions are often vague. I am not sure how to modify the realmRoot.ldif file. Is there any improved documentation on this? I have logged a Service Request, but not getting any help. Any resources or documentation you know of that provides better guidance would be much appreciated. I am way behind my schedule now and this is a very frustrating exercise.

First of all please check availability of your OS + DB requiremnts whether it is supported by SAP or not.You can check this at Product Availability Matrix at ::
http://service.sap.com/pam
If this support for your environment i.e.RedHat Linux 5.2 with Oracle 10G then be informed that after starting sapinst in step create database it will prompt you for installing your oracle DB. So open a new window & install your databse ,do the patching of your DB & then continue with sapinst after successfull installation of oracle.Rest of details sapinst will prompot you during instal;lation.
Hope this will guide you for your query.
