Cd- and HDs icon no more on the deskop

hey everybody.
iam a little in trouble with my emac. iam using mac osx 10.2.x, dunno exactly. since a few days there are no more cd/DVDR - icons and no icons from portable HD or usb-sticks on the desktop and i dont no how i can get hese icons back or what is more important, are there any other ways to get "on" the datas of protable HD or the cd datas, i can only see for e´xample by a picture cd the content of the cd by using iphoto...

i looked in the disc utility prog and this portable HD is shown there, but only as a HD and not as a volume. is it neccessary to see the drive on the desktop or in the finder to set this as an volume? whats the difference and how can i do this, if its neccessary? there are also some datas on this drive so i dont want to format this drive.
and something else, i said in my first post that i cant see the content of a cd-rom, this work again, i dunno how.. now i cant see the icon for the cd when i lay in a blank (empty) cd.

Double click on the picture of the HD on your desktop, then look at the bottom of the window that opens.
First check the S.M.A.R.T. status on your HD: Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility > in the panel at left, select the first item in the list/your HD mechanism > look atthe bottom of the main window next to S.M.A.R.T. status and see if it says “Verified” or something more ominous like “Failing.”
If S.M.A.R.T.status is "Verified," run Repair Disk: Boot from install disc (insert disc > restart > immediately hold down c key and keep holding it until you see “Preparing Installation”) > at first screen select the language and click Continue > click on the Utilities Menu in the menu bar > open Disk Utility > select your HD in the panel on the left side > click Repair Disk at bottom of main window. Run this at least twice, and keep running it until it says “appears ok” twice in a row. If that doesn’t happen, you may need a stronger utility such as DiskWarrior or if the directory is damaged beyond repair, you may need to reinstall the OS, or you may have a damaged HD (repair utilities can only repair the directory structure, not the HD itself). When this is finished, quit Disk Utility, quit the installer, and restart. Once booted normally, go to Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility and run Repair Permissions.

You can right-click on the "Home" button and choose "Customize," then drag all of the icons (including Home and Reload) to where you want them.

I am tring to write a program where i can drag and drop icons from the left side of the split pane to the right side. I have to draw a network on the right side of the split pane from the icons provided on the left side. Putting the icons on the labels donot work as i would like to drag multiple icons from the left side and drop them on the right side. CAn anyone please help me with this.

How do I store and access while traveling more than the last 1000 photos using iOS

I would like to store 2 or 3000 photos (unlimited would be even better) that I can search thumbnails and access anytime anywhere without using the GB's on my IOS device for that storage. iPhone and/or iPad devices. iCloud stores the last 1000,,, not sufficient for me. I have iPhoto on my Macbook and a Mac Mini where I store the photos at home. Fee free is highly desired. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Any way to use a quick and dirty icon like cLabel in the quick tools toolbar?

I am a javascript cut-and-paster with ability to cobble things together.
In previous versions of Acrobat, I had tools that were added to the toolbar using the technique shown in this script:

That would create a toolbar button with the "icon" that read "Flatten" which is all that I needed. I could click on it and it would flatten all pages in the document.
I used this to create several different tools, all with different names and cLabels.
This script still works in Acrobat XI (it adds the tool to the add-on tools list, and then I can add it from there to the quick tools toolbar). The cLabel names show up in the add-on tools list, but not in the quick tools toolbar. In the toolbar they all use the same generic icon (but they all work correctly).
From reading in this forum I see that there is a way to create a custom icon but it does not look easy. Is there any simple way to just have text appear as the icon as I used to do for earlier versions of Acrobat?

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

I think she's not lying, unless you have a reason to think that. The same thing can happen with a phone call. It can ring multiple times on your end and only ring once or twice on the other end.

Why do pay and go tariffs cost more for the iphone?

I only ask as I'm coming off contract looking at pay and go for a duration, but cannot understand why identical packages (minutes, data, text) are more expensive for iphones? I use a macbook pro and as far as I am aware broadband charges are the same for mac or PC.

I tried to update my ipad 2 to os7 and all i get is a black screen with iTunes logo and charger icon. I tried the power button and home button together. Help!

I updated by iPad 2 to os 7 when the screen went black. I hit the power and home buttons and got an outline of a charger cord to a blue circle with iTunes under it.

3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.

5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
7. Select "Restore iPad"...
Note:
1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
2. If you did not do step 4 properly, start all over again.

Burned CD locks up and won't play more than the first track

The cd burns perfectly and finishes but when you go to play it it will only play the first or first and second track. I have thrown away 6 disks. Does anyone know what is going on.

This may happen because of you Internet connection. The reason why it only plays half of the song is that when it got downloaded, something might have happened to your connection. I realize that you can't re-download the songs, so try going to a friend's computer and download them again and then put them on your computer. Tell me if this works.
