CD Artwork problems

I had gotten a few songs from a CD of the bad "The Pillows" not long ago and had used a Photobucket graphic for hte CD cover. But when I synced my iPod and went to listen, the CD cover was all wrong but when I pressed the space bar to the CD Cover Menu it was just fine. This has also happened to a few songs after adding The Pillows... How do you fix that error?

Try unchecking "display album artwork" in the music preferences section when your iPod is connected and click "apply". Then sync your iPod.
Then check "display album artwork" in the music preferences section when your iPod is connected and click "apply". Then sync your iPod again.
This should resync the album artwork to the iPod.
If this does not work, you might need to restore the iPod and reload the songs in order to correct this error.

  • Ablum artwork problems

First off sorry for the way I'm posting but I can't find the make new thread button for some reasson.
Second, I'm going to be talking about audible files in itunes and ipod.
Itunes have the right artwork in it, but when I bring it up on my ipod it gives me a different one and I go to another one to see and sometimes it the right one and sometimes it not, but then I went back to see if the artwork was fine for the one I just check and it changed to another artwork that doesn't relate to the area at all. Everytime I do this it rotates the artwork or something. The only thing I did differnetly was I enable the disk function on it and it seemed like it froze so I unpluged it. I know that I should have unplugged it but it wasn't working it seemed like and it was late.
Got any ideas how to fix this problem. It only seems to be with the audible files on the ipod. The purchased and podcast files are fine as fall as I can see. Thanks for the help.

If your iPod is set to update automatically give this a try , it usually sorts out wrong artwork problems:
    1. Connect your iPod
    2. Disable "Display album artwork" in iPod>Music tab and click Apply.
    3. Syncronise the iPod with iTunes.
    4. Re-enable "Display album artwork" in iPod>Music tab and click Apply.
    5. Syncronise the iPod again.

Anyhow, if you were getting the chkdsk problem, you will want to restore. That should also help with the artwork problem...

  • Severe Artwork problem. Any Suggestions PLEASE??

Hi all, I've been searching your forums and I haven't been able to find anyone else who is experiencing the same issues I am. Album artwork problems seem to be a dime a dozen, but mine must be unique! All my album artwork was working just fine in both iTunes and on my iPod, but today I noticed that the album artwork in iTunes is no longer displaying in the artwork viewer. A few of my albums still have their artwork, but the rest just show up (in the artwork viewer) as blank white boxes, some with thin black borders if their artwork was too small to fill the full artwork viewer.
When I tried the Cover Flow feature, the artwork that didn't disappear still shows up, some of the artwork that was not visible in the artwork viewer shows up in the Cover Flow window (still not in the artwork viewer), but most of it is just a big black square.
All of my artwork is still on my iPod (haven't synced it since this issue started), so this is clearly an iTunes issue...or so I thought! I decided to check the iTunes store, and noticed that ALL of the album artwork in the iTunes store also shows up as black squares! Why is all the album artwork not displaying? Since the artwork is all still on my iPod, is there a way to get it back into iTunes from there?
This is totally bizarre, and I am hoping someone here might have a suggestion for what is wrong. I am running Windows Vista. I have been running iTunes and my 30 GB iPod video on this machine and have had no problems until now. This only seems to have happened since I downloaded 7.7. I've also recently done a java update but I dont think this should affect it! Unfortunately I don't have any previous versions of the .itl file because I've already used it in a vain attempt to recover my artwork in this version of itunes (7.7), so Im not going to risk rolling back to a previous version of itunes, because I've heard that the current .itl file wont be read by older versions.
I have no idea whats happened, its as if my itunes has suffered a sudden aversion to all image files. Bar a handful of my album covers, everything just displays a plain white box where the album cover should be, and in the store all the text is there, but any covers, artwork and images are ugly plain black boxes. Im sure its since the 7.7 upgrade. Im worried too as it seems like such an uncommon problem that any newer version apple release will not address the issue. Any suggestions/options/words of advice from anyone? anywhere? Please?!
Thank you so much for your help!

Hey! I've been having a very similar problem to yours. Most of my artwork shows up as a blank white box or a garbled mess of other artwork from the rest of my albums. Another problem I'm having is my videos won't play. Well, they play, but I can't see them because they are replaced by a green box. It's rather annoying. Both my artwork and my videos show up on my iPod, and the videos play in DivX. I'm thinking that this is a video error, like a conflict with the video drivers and iTunes. I'm also running Vista, and my iPod and iTunes worked fine with XP but when I upgraded... haha like I expected it to work. Well I hope this helps, I hope someone else can help us both!

  • Greyed out ID3 Tags Artwork problem

I have a few mp3 files(not "read only") that have missing song information when checking the advanced section in the summary tab (window's explorer).
The only ones I can see are the "track number," "Title" and "comments" fields.
For example, the Artist, genre, year, album title, etc fields aren't even visible.
As such, I am not allowed to add any artwork to the songs using itunes. There isn't even a "artwork tab" to click on.
After searching the net for hours I am somewhat getting the idea that I might not have full "permission" to edit the files. Still haven't found any clear explanation or solution to this problem.
    Help would be great!

  • IPod touch 3rd gen artwork problem

Hi I have an iPod touch 3rd gen (early 2010) and it has worked perfectly with just one minor nuisance - album artwork.
I am able to sync every single album artwork that I've assigned to each song from iTunes to my iPod touch, and they do show up properly when I'm playing the song. However, some album artwork won't show up in the "Unlock" screen even though I'm playing the song at the moment.
This problem cannot be solved by deleting and resyncing the songs in concern. Only by updating the iOS firmware (which, as we're well aware, only takes place once in a blue moon) would the songs whose album artwork won't show up in the "Unlock" screen show up again.
The problem is very annoying because if I accidentally remove some older songs from my iPod touch and wish to sync them back again, their album artwork would no longer show up on the "Unlock" screen, assuming that these songs are "new" (as in post-major iOS firmware update).
I hope the above is descriptive enough of the issue. Can anyone kindly point out what's happening, or hopefully redirect me to a similar thread where this problem has also been encountered and solved?
Thank you very much for your kind attention!

Did you check for software updates for your ipod or are you on the latest version possible?
In case the firmware file (*.ipsw) on your computer is damaged, try to delete the ipod software file located in C:\Documents and Settings[username]\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPod Software Updates to make iTunes download a new copy when you connect in recovery mode.

  • Myriad iTunes sync issues - song cutoffs - artwork problems - yeech!

    Hi all,
I’m running the latest version of iTunes on a (late 2013) Macbook Pro Retina laptop, and having several different flavors of syncing issues with my two devices –  a 16 gb iPhone 4S running iOS 7.1, and a 32 gb iPod Touch 3rd Gen running iOS 5.1.1.
As best I can tell, some syncing issues such as one of the ones I am experiencing (songs chopped-off when transferred and attempted to playback from the device) have existed in some way, shape or form for nearly 10 years now, so I’m not expecting any grand revelations here - but just looking for some honest advice on how to resolve in the shortest amount of time & with the least pain considering I have a fairly large music library in terms of syncing time required.  That being said, below bulleted-out are my current issues / frustrations / thoughts on where the problems may lie.   I would appreciate any advice:
Purchased iTunes songs (ripped MP3’s from CD’s that I own and tracks from other sources do not seem to have the problem…) play fine in iTunes on my laptop, but when transferred to either my iPhone or iPod, they will randomly (it’s not every track) be cutoff near the end of the song.  Sometimes the song will stop with 2 minutes remaining and go silent. Sometimes it will stop with 15 seconds remaining and go silent.  Sometimes it will stop somewhere in that time range and start the next track on the album while still displaying the info from the previous track.  The only solution I have found to this for purchased content thus far is to wipe everything out, and go back and download the tracks from the cloud.  I have somewhere in the neighborhood of 1000 tracks that fall into this category, so my options to download directly to the device an artist at a time are kind of time-consuming and cumbersome.  Would this have something to do with the file format of purchased tracks vs. ripped ones? I have a lot of older ripped material that was imported as MP3’s or MP3’s converted to M4A’s that never seems to have this problem.  The newer purchased files are mostly ACC’s which DO have the problem.   Also would this have anything to do with the fact that my library (including most of the purchased content) was recently moved over and imported to a new Macbook from a Windows backup?  Most of my iTunes library was Windows / PC for the majority of its existence for the past decade or so; we only recently switched back to Mac.
Discrepancies between deleting material on a device vs. what iTunes recognizes when it is plugged back in:  The other day, being frustrated with the random song chopping, I deleted everything on my iPod Touch 3rd Gen by going into Settings, Options, General, and “Usage” and then “Edit” and selecting to wipe out everything in iTunes. The device appeared to do this, and I was showing 28 gb or so free out of 32 once it completed.  Great, right?  I proceeded the rest of that day to painstakingly download approx. 900 tracks from the cloud onto the device, hoping to correct the chopping issue.  It did this, and I still had roughly 10 gb free. Great, right?  Later that night when I plugged the iPod into my Macbook with the 30 pin to sync, iTunes on the laptop for some reason still recognized the songs which I thought I had deleted hours earlier and showed me multiple copies of everything.  For the ones that had been deleted, when I clicked to play them on the iPod through iTunes, I got the little gray exclamation point - ! – in a circle like when a track has moved libraries and cannot be found.  iTunes then told me my sync could not be completed due to being over capacity on the device by a ridiculous 12 gb or something like that. Huh?? I could have gone through and manually deleted the (by that point more than 1000) duplicate tracks and synced to have made room I suppose – but after accidentally hitting Autofill – iTunes threw up its hands and would not let me do anything further.  Any attempts at that point to delete either pending Autofill tracks or missing duplicate tracks just led to endless spinning on the “Preparing Update” notice on the device which led to me having to kill iTunes.  Can you say big-time frustration?  I eventually opted to restore the iPod to factory (iOS 5.1.1) settings and start over.  That device is currently at home slogging through the process of attempting to re-download 400 some songs from the cloud over wi-fi so that I can avoid the cutoff track problem.  The plan after that is to sync playlists for certain artists over top of the purchased tracks so that my ripped tracks can merge with them to round out the playlist. Do you see how this is beginning to become a marathon?
Last but not least - it seems to be just since the last few iTunes upgrades for Mac, but I’m having a huge problem suddenly with album artwork staying synced properly. After one recent manual transfer session (30 pin between the iPhone and the Macbook) roughly half of the tracks I transferred had mismatched artwork.  Doing this through the cloud (downloading tracks “Not on this iPhone” via the iTunes app) doesn’t seem to have the same problem, but of course this takes longer. Also, what is the deal with “Show All Music” in iOS 7 and playing tracks from the cloud?  This is a really cool feature that allows you to save a ton of disk space on your device, but I have found that when I do this that many tracks have mismatched artwork.  For example right now I’m listening to a Grateful Dead song that is displaying Genesis artwork.  Huh?? Artwork is less of a big deal than the track lengths being chopped off, but it’s still annoying.
iTunes revolutionized the music industry and on the whole has been fantastic.  But it seems as if lately, little irritating problems like the syncing issues are becoming more and not less prevalent, and the problem is they aren't being dealt with.  I got my first Mac in college nearly 20 years ago now, and have been generally entrhalled with Apple products ever since.  But I have to say that this kind of junk lately is more what I would expect in the vein of problems from the shoddy-PC world that seem to linger and never get fixed.  Cupertino folks - what's the deal???

You're not the only one judging by the forums!
Likewise I have been using Apples since the Apple IIe(!) and have found them great in every respect. iTunes however over the past couple of years has deteriorated to th point of being unuseable. Apple has made iTunes the hub of your digital life and so it really has to work seemlessly.
I currently have had to completely wipe and re-install my 64Gb iPhone 4s several times to get my music back on to it. I cannot het any playlists to sync which is really annoying and it generally undermines my faith in Apples software quality.
Please put whatever resources are necessary to fix this soon Apple or you will certainly start to haemorrhage customers to other platforms. After all if iTunes remains broken then what's the point of paying the extra for Apple qulaity? You may as well uplaod ebverything to Google play and be done with it!

  • Itunes album artwork problem on 11.4.0.18

Recently after the update to iTunes 11.4.0.18 I've noticed my album artwork not displaying correctly for some albums.  They appear jumbled, but only the album thumbnail.  I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, with an AMD processor & 8GB of RAM.
If you right click on a song in an album that appears to have a jumbled thumbnail, and click on Get Info, the album artwork appears perfectly fine in the summary tab as well as the artwork tab.  I've tried deleting the artwork then choosing get artwork for that particular album.  In most cases this has worked, with a few giving a message that artwork could not be found.  I've tried copying the artwork from the Get Info>Artwork tab, deleting it, then pasting it again and this also seems to take care of the problem when viewing the album thumbnail.  It's just crazy having to do this for each and every album that is displaying a jumbled artwork thumbnail.
Anyone come across this in v11.4.0.18?  Is there an easier way to fix this thumbnail problem than going through each and every album that seems messed up?

I can't see your image, but what may work is to delete the folder Album Artwork and then scroll through the entire library in Albums view.

  • ITUNES COPY AND PASTE ARTWORK PROBLEM

Ive had a problem ever since I downloaded the newest itunes update and want to see if anyone else is having this issue.  I hope I can explain this accurately.
When you have the album artwork displayed on the bottom left hand of the itunes screen.  I used to be able to double click on the artwork and copy that album cover art and paste it onto another track.  Ever since Ive updated itunes a couple weeks ago, the double clicking is no longer working.  When I doubleclick, it just doesnt work and doesnt give me the option to cut or copy anymore.  So now I have no ability to cut/copy and paste artwork from one album to another.  I used to always do t his routinely without a problem.  Is anyone else having this issue or have an idea what is going on?  Did a setting accidentally change?
Im talking about the album artwork on the bottom left of the screen.  Double clicking it no longer works- doesnt give me any options.  (The music is not purchased from itunes so I often manually update the artwork)

Copy from the artwork panel (and image selection between multiple artwork) is broken on this build. You can still copy art from the artwork tab in Get Info.

  • Itunes Artwork Problems with Lion

I've noticed some problems lately with Lion and artwork from Mp3 files no longer being seen in the Finder.  Im a new Mac user (only a few weeks) and had lots of issues with itunes from the data transfer but finally was able to get everything working (after 8 hours in the retail store)
Anyway when Lion was installed, there were some hiccups apparently in the 10.4 itunes download.
Now, since it has downloaded there seems to be a new problem with certain files' artwork no longer being recognized in the Finder.  (I'm not even sure if that matters - the artwork is showing up in itunes and ipod but not in the finder).  This is especially affecting new downloaded tracks (not from itunes)..I can add artwork but it will not appear in the Finder...and it also is affecting some older files and folders that did not have any problems.  For certain artists with multiple albums, the artwork keeps disappearing...if you are able to add it for one album, it disappears for the second album...if you fix it for the second album, it disappears again  for the first.  So just wondering if anybody else is having these issues...or has any ideas to fix it.  Id really like to have the artwork in the finder; it just makes me feel more comfortable after all the problems I've had.  And so far everytime someone at Applecare or Retail Store tells me to do stuff on my computer, it has just screwed things up even more.

    I'm having the same issues
At first I thought it was the 3rd party app 'Media Rage' not being compatible with Lion.  But this is not the case.
I know this because, I edited the artwork in iTunes; the artwork shows fine.  But, when I take that same iTunes file and drag it to my desktop; nothing.  Artwork disappears.  I've taken the same file, (now on my desktop), move it into Media Rage, and the window shows that the image file is embedded in the .mp3.
Then, I take the file and move it into iTunes, (now 2 copies of the same song), and the artwork shows again.
So, there's definately something wrong in Finder.
Also, this only happens with new .mp3's recently downloaded, (post Lion upgrade).  All my media files pre-Lion, show the artwork in finder ...... 10's of thousands of files are fine.  The only problems are with those post-Lion.
Lastly, to be sure that there wasn't some Media Rage/Lion compatibility issue, I uninstalled media rage, and edited some 'new' .mp3's soley using iTunes.   They are fine while viewed in iTunes.  But in finder; nothing.
I can't imagine Apple overlooking something like this .... after finishing with checking the core processes of the OS, it seems as though the very next items to check and verify would be media, (both audio and video).

  • Another type of artwork problem.

I've seen issues with artwork not displaying on the ipod after resyncing the ipod.
My issue is that I do everything manually. I just added some songs I've had for a few years to my itunes from different CD's of mine. I can easily find the album artwork to display on itunes, and I have them all updated. But when I manually transfer those new songs to the ipod, there is no artwork.
This is a recent issue, but I just noticed. I went an looked and the problem started in about August of this year. I noticed alot of music I previously owned that I just added has album artwork in itunes, but not on the ipod.

    thisch wrote:
I have 14000+ songs on my ipod, 75% of which not showing artwork.
*Why is artwork not showing on my iPod when it's there in iTunes?*
iTunes will display a cover in many of it's views provided at least one track from the album has embedded artwork. The iPod appears to load only the artwork from track one to create the cover flow and album views which means that it can sometimes fail to display art for albums even when you can see the art in iTunes. Further, when tracks are played on the iPod, artwork is displayed if and only if it exists in the currently playing track, so track one may show art while track two does not.
*How to find tracks without artwork*
To find all the tracks without artwork so that you can update them you can try http://www.stum.de/itunes-find-tracks-without-artwork/ for Windows or http://dougscripts.com/itunes/scripts/ss.php?sp=trackswithoutartwork for Macs. Use Google, Amazon, Discogs etc. to locate relevant images. Ideally these should be square, 320x320 pixels or above and borderless to give the best results in the various menus. If you have artwork for some tracks of an album, but not others, find the album in the main music folder, select a track with artwork, right-click (Option-Click for Macs) on the art & click copy, then select all the tracks of the album, use CTRL-I or Command-I to *Get Info* and then paste the image into the artwork box.
I say 320x320 because I believe (from using TouchCopy) that it's the size used in the iPod cache so if you're going to crop or resize you might as well work to that size. Otherwise 200x200 is probably good enough.
    *Rebuild artwork cache*
Sometimes the artwork cache becomes corrupt and fails to show correct artwork, even when this is properly set up in iTunes. To rebuild the artwork cache, connect your iPod to iTunes. Locate the iPod in the Sources pane on the left-hand side, then select the Music tab. Remove the tick from *Display album artwork on your iPod*, sync the iPod, reselect the option & sync again.

  • ITunes 8: still the same album artwork problem

hi! it seems that this is still an open question. the problem is that after installing iTunes 7.7.1 some of my (manually added) album artworks dissapeared and cannot fix this because no matter how hard i try i cannot recover the artworks (the same way i did it initially). nothing happens after i try to copy the picture in the field reading 'Drag Album Artwork Here'. and iTunes 8 that i have downloaded and installed just a while ago cannot fix the problem either. any ideas what is going on?
thanks anyone who would read this and tries to help.
    j

Okay, I think I've figured a way around this. At least it works for me. It's a bit convoluted, but it works and it's fairly simple. Here goes...
Select the aiff or aif files in itunes that you want to add album art to, right click and choose "create AIFF Version." This will create a new AIF file in the iTunes folder in your Music folder. Once that is done, this new AIF file will accept album art in iTunes. Just delete the old aiff/aif files and replace with the new aif file created by iTunes. I know it's a little more extra work than should be necessary, but it's a temporary fix until Apple hopefully fixes it without having to do these extra steps. Hope this helps!
Let me know if this works for anyone else.

  • Album Artwork problems on iTunes

Please, I need some help here. Here's what I'm trying to to if possible.
I have many music videos that belong to a certain album (ex. Loose/Nelly Furtado - Say It Right, Promiscous, Maneater) so I would like to assign a general ALBUM ART for all the videos belonging to this album but I would also like to assign different ALBUM ART for each song. Is that possible on iTunes?
I have had problems with iTunes 7.4.2 as well. I cannot delete ARTWORK so it becomes clear. I hit "GET INFO" and under "ALBUM ARTWORK" I manually delete it then the Coverflow goes blank for a second and the same artwork is back there. I tried to delete whatever is under the iTunes folder but the same thing happens. Any ideas or just a buggy iTunes version.
Another thing... Coverflow for videos??? Mine doesn't show anything and it doesn't work horizontally.
Any ideas and comments would be greatly appreciated.

I tried the unsuncing and re-yncing trick  - did not work for me either.   The album artwork would change, but most of the titles were still wrong.     What I finally had to do was unsync artwork, overwrite old backup with a new one (with app organization, contacts etc, saved, but nothing else)
Then restore to the factory settings by clicking restore in itunes  -
After iOS reinstalls from scratch, restore to the backup of your apps and contacts you did before the OS restore.
Then try syncing just your playlists to validate, this worked for me.   After that I uploaded the rest of my albums and everything is cool now.
As for why this happens in the first place, it's likely a corrupting of the music or artwork database of sorts.   Before doing any of the restoration, look in your music directory and clean up any titles of artists with unicode characters, or underscores before the names.
I had one album with Japanese characters, and a few others that Itunes prefaces with underscores to avoid duplicate album or artist names.    I suspect somethign like that may play a role in the problem.

  • Importing from iPod to iTunes and artwork problems

I have lots of albums on my iPod with artwork that display in iTunes, but it doesn't display on the iPod. Is there a minimum resolution for being able to display artwork on the iPod? I like to have the artwork in the MP3 file itself at a low resolution to take up about 20K in each file. Does anyone know what could be causing the problem?
Further, it's irritating that I can't get the ratings I set on the iPod back to iTunes when I do a sync. I'm guessing that the shuffler uses ratings when picking, and I would like to have my ratings survive a sync. I also use ratings to mark songs that I don't really like, so I can move or delete the songs. Is there some setting in iTunes or some program/service that needs to run in order to get a sync to work essentially both ways? (Are these two problems related?)
I appreciate any help that can be offered.
    Eagle Eyes

Not sure about your ratings issue. You are syncing rather than manually managing your music I take it. You might find that a reset helps. In principle the iPod should record play counts, played time & ratings which will then update iTunes when you sync. As for the artwork issues....

  • Another Newbee with Artwork Problems

My feed seems to be working ok, my podcasts are showing up in itunes, but the artwork never shows. Any suggestions, or could someone check my feed. Here's the feed address:
    http://podcast.getfitpod.com/rss2.aspx
    Dell   Windows 2000

The URL to your artwork is invalid:
    http%3a%2f%2fmedia.podcastingmanager.com%2f71509-3378%2fDefaultImage%2fEpisode+3 .jpg
All those weird % numbers at the beginning and elsewhere are causing the problem. Looks like whatever you copied the URL from used some kind of odd characters instead of : and \
Fix that and your artwork should show up in a few days.

  • Podcast Channel Artwork problems

I'm using GoDaddy QuickBlogcast to upload my podcasts. So, all I do is fill in where they tell me to in order to have my artwork show up on iTunes. The problem seems to be occurring at iTunes. At least that's what they're telling me now.
Here's our problem: iTunes has our artwork for each episode, but the channel is only showing their generic podcast image as our show when doing a search, when subscribing to the podcast, the artwork shows up as episode or the album artwork, it's the Channel that is generic. What are we doing wrong? Here's our url that iTunes gave us: http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=309940320 or our RSS Feed url: http://thehamandlegsshow.com/podcasts-only/rss2.aspx .
I'd like our channel to have our artwork, so any help with this is greatly appreciated.
Thank you, in advance, to those that might be able to help.

Found out that feedburner was making some changs on the feed to make it compatible with iTunes. Since my feed already have iTunes tags, I turned the podcast feature at feedburner off and now everithing is working fine
